“I’m sorry” It was the first thing Kai has said in a while. He and Suho have been quiet ever since the young doctor-to-be stepped into the house. When Kai lost all hopes in helping his cousin, he called the only person he could think of, the only person whom he really trusted. That’s why, he and Suho were now sitting on either sides of a sleeping Taemin, with Suho examining him patiently, and making sure he wasn’t in danger.

“You know you don’t have to be…”  Suho kept his eyes on the younger blonde, trying to act unfazed with the fact that he was freaking out as to why Taemin’s face was so messed up? He kept tracing his finger on Taemin’s chest, poking it lightly to make sure the ribs were okay. Taemin winced when Suho poked a little at his right side, which raised Suho’s curiosity, he poked once more and the latter whimpered again in his sleep.

“Broken ribs.” Suho exclaimed, and Kai’s face fell at that, it was far worse than he thought. Suho turned to look at him with deep concern in his eyes, Kai knew how much Suho disliked Taemin, and seeing that look the older was giving him made him realize his cousin’s condition wasn’t any good.

“Mind tellin’ me what happened to him exactly?” Suho raised an eyebrow, his voice barely above a whisper so it won’t disturb Taemin.

“I really don’t know myself… Siwon brought him yesterday night, all bloody and … I guess uncle couldn’t control his temper after…” Kai stopped midway in his sentence, he bit his lip and stayed quiet, something that raised Suho’s curiosity.

“After…?” Suho demanded.

“Well you already hate him, so I rather keep quiet for now.” Kai answered and looked away, he was pained by the idea of everyone hating his cousin, he was more like his best friend, and spending almost 4 to 5 years trying to convince his friends of the blonde latter was hard, they all disliked him for some reason and he didn’t want to add to their hatred.

Suho sighed and looked away for a second, closing his eyes, he turned his head and looked down on Taemin’s face, the scars were fresh, the bruises were already visible, his right cheek was swollen, and the right corner of his lower lip was burst. Taemin looked horrible, it looked like he’s been into some kind of accident, Suho could swear those weren’t normal beating marks, and he kinnda felt sorry for the kid.

“Uncle found out about his drug problem…” Kai sighed after saying, he had to share the problem with someone, and who’s better to share it with than his favorite hyung. Suho showed no reaction; instead he kept his eyes fixed down on Taemin’s face. Kai could detect pity in Suho’s eyes, because Suho actually felt guilty for treating Taemin the way he used to without knowing anything about his background. He judged Taemin as an immature brat, never once did he think the latter was leading a tough life.

“Is he going to be okay?” Kai spoke again, and this time Suho raised his stare to him. His eyes fell for a second then he looked back straight to Kai with apologizing eyes.

“He has a few broken ribs; his left collar bone also broke… Fortunately, his head is fine, and so are his limbs, but that’s where the good things end in his condition. Kai, he needs to be taken to the hospital.”

Kai closed his eyes as soon as he felt tears forming in them, and Suho decided to remain quiet for now, waiting to hear Kai’s thoughts.

“I don’t have enough money to help him… his father won’t help him, and…” Kai sighed, his voice was shaky and broken, and a lone tear made its way down his left cheek when he closed his eyes tight.

“I know none of you like him, really… but I can’t stay still and watch him when he’s like this…” Kai raised his stare and looked back at Suho. “… Hyung, please help me! Tell me what to do! I’ve never been in such situation… please if not for him, then do it for me…” Kai pleaded and Suho looked away for a second, trying to think of something to do.

“Help me help him to my dad’s hospital; I’ll talk to him for you… just… I need to call someone first…” Kai only nodded as he breathed out in relief, and Suho stood and walked out of the room. Fetching his phone from his back pocket, Suho dialed a number and waited for someone to answer.

“~Yah Hyung!~” Baehyun answered rather loudly.

“Can you do me a favor…?”

The day passed, taking Taemin to the hospital, Baekhyun helping out with the expenses without Kai knowing, staying by Kai’s side all day. The day was really agonizing for Suho, he wasn’t still feeling all that well after his and Kris’s last encounter, but being the angel he is, ignoring a cry of help wasn’t something he would usually do.

Since the day he last saw Kris, he couldn’t stop thinking about him, which made him hate himself really. Why was he this vulnerable, why did he love him this much even when he hurt him like that? Suho was about to witness the love of his life get married to another woman, but he still loves him. He was pathetic, how would Kris even love him if he wasn’t capable of loving himself enough.

He chased Kris all his life, but not once has he been chased back, Kris was always too busy enjoying the special treatment he was getting. That’s why Suho was convinced all this was all his fault, if he knew how to keep Kris from the beginning, none of this would’ve ever happened. Ji eun would’ve never left Chanyeol, Kris would’ve never left him, and he and Chanyeol wouldn’t have been this heart broken and desperate.

But reality doesn’t work that way, because there he was, sitting on the bar counter with a drink in his hand, slumped shoulders, and a frown on his face. Being the pathetic guy he convinced himself he was, Suho drowned his misery in a few cups of heavy alcohol drinks, this was the only thing he could think of doing right now. What made it worse was that it was only 11 at night and he was already feeling light headed from all those drinks.

As he swallowed the last of his cup’s contents, he could feel a pair of eyes watching him from his side. Suho thought he should ignore it at first, blaming the alcohol for making his mind play games on him, but then the feeling started getting stronger as people left the chairs by his side and aimed for the dance floor, leaving him exposed to all eyes. Suho glanced at his side furtively and noticed a honey-brown haired latter sitting not too far away from him, and Suho could swear he was looking straight at him. Was that even possible? He wasn’t that good-looking for some random guy to be this interested, right? And Suho had to admit, the latter seemed rather attractive.

He looked back again at the place he was supposed to be sitting at, but found no one. Suho closed his eyes and sighed silently in disappointment. Great, he was already starting to imagine things as well, how much more desperate could he get?

“You know, someone with a face like yours shouldn’t frown like that…” A soft voice suddenly came from behind him, interrupting his thoughts midway. Suho glanced at his side as the honey-brown haired latter took a seat beside him, staring ahead with a mischievous smirk that looked attractive as hell.
