April 30, Friday: SCHOOL HALLWAY

Dear grandpa,

Things are crazy. Even crazier now though. And to make things worse, Cho Kyuhyun, my mortal enemy, is back in school.

You walk through the school hallway when Kyuhyun comes by. He shoots a glare at you, then looks away.

"Kim Haneul, everything alright?" someone asks.

"Oh, Siwon--"

"Call me President-nim."

"President-nim. I'm okay."

"Good to know," he says. He leans in closer and whispers, "Just trying to keep Cho Kyuhyun out of your hair whenever I can." He pats your shoulder. You look at his hand and then back at his face. He has a puzzled and weird expression as he looks straight into your eyes. "U-uh," he gulps. "I'm going to go now."

Frikkin school president is pret-ty weird...

"HANEUL!!!!" Heechul comes running toward you holding a big piece of paper.

"Annyeong, hyung, what's up?"

"Look at this." He shows you the poster in his hand. 

"An inter-school band competition? Grand prize: A cruise trip for the entire band???" You look at Heechul with wide eyes.

Heechul looks back at you with eyes as wide as yours. A big grin creeps up on his face and he slowly nods.

LUNCH TIME

"So are you guys in?" you asks the guys seated at your table. They look at each other and agree.

"So Sungmin is the bassist since he's the only one we know who can do bass," Heechul recounts. "I can do keyboards, Youngwoon is on rhythm guitar, while Jungsu is on the lead guitar. Haneul will be on drums."

"You play the drums, Haneul?" Sungmin asks, surprised.

"Neh," you grin. "So right now, we just need a vocalist."

"Hyung, don't forget that we need to write our own song," you remind him.

"Aish, yeah," Heechul says. "But my composition book was thrown out of my house window by my stupid sister."

You slam the table as an idea comes into mind. "Why don't we hold a contest here ourselves? Put up a poster about a song-writing contest and people will come flocking to us with songs. All we need to do is choose a winner and take the guy along with us on the cruise trip if we win."

Heechul slams the table as well. "Kim Haneul, you're as smart as me! That would be a perfect way to get the song. Now all we need is a vocalist. Would you guys know anyone?"

"No..." they say.

"I don't think I'm any good at singing," Youngwoon says.

"Why don't you be the vocalist as well, Heechul?"

"I can't sing while playing piano. It's too difficult for me. I need more practice for that. Nevertheless, I'm gonna submit our application later because the deadline is today. Haneul, you take care of the songwriting contest poster."

"I'm on it," you say.

"By the way, no matter what, don't let Jongwoon find out about this."

"Why?"

Heechul leaves.

"Why?" you ask the remaining guys.

"His voice and he doesn't know it," Jungsu says.

AFTER SCHOOL...

You put up a poster in the dorm lobby:

After you put the poster up, you turn around and are almost shocked to death. Jongwoon has been standing behind you that whole time.

"Haneul... what's that?'

"A-ahh, haha, this is nothing," you say, trying to cover it by standing directly in front of the poster. "Just something I found on the floor, ehehee." You scratch your head. xD

"Why is there an inter-school band competition?"

"W-what inter-school band competition? This is nothing~ Are you hungry, Jongwoon? Let's go get something to eat."
You say, putting your arm around him and leading him away from the bulletin board.

"B-but--"

"Let's go~"

After around an hour of trying to take Jongwoon's attention off the poster in the lobby...

"I'm gonna go back to my room now, Haneul," Jongwoon says. "Thanks for the snacks."

"See you, Jongwoon," you wave as he walks away.

Whewwww! o_O

You go back into your room as well to take a nap because it's an unusually hot day. Heechul is out of the room. After a few several sheep, you doze off...

"KIM HANEUL!!!" the door bursts open.

=_= "What..."

"We have entries!!!" Heechul sings. He holds up the envelopes that had been slid under the door.

"Really? It's only been an hour since I posted that notice..." you sit up, scratching your head.

"Come and let's check these out," Heechul says. He plays the CD's one by one on his laptop.

"This first one is sort of... um... nonsense..." you remark.

Next CD...

"Isn't this an old song? He just remade it into a guitar cover," Heechul says, annoyed.

"Mhm," you say as you toss the CD into the garbage bin.

"We haven't found any good ones," you say slumping onto Heechul's bed.

"Aish, and to think we got a bunch of them already," Heechul says slumping next to you. "I wonder how the ones yet to come will be like."

"Let's give it a rest for today, hyung," you say standing up and stretching. "We still have our deadline on Wednesday. We can call the others to help us then."

"Aaaarasso..."

GARDENS

Night has already fallen. You decide to pay a visit to the gazebo because it has been quite a while since you last saw Flashlight guy.

He's not there... Right. I told him I didn't want to see him until he was ready to show his face to me. Hmph. He just completely stopped showing up. What a chicken.

POOL

Instead you decide to go for a swim. It's pretty late now and no one goes to the pool that time anyway. You take your real swimsuit and go to the pool area. You check if anyone is around. Once you've scanned the area, you lock the pool gates. After getting into your old blue one-piece swimsuit, you go do some laps and just float around, thinking.

I wonder if Kibum actually recognized me that time? No, I don't think so... He would have said something, at least to the other guys.

What about Donghae though? He kept glancing at me at the restaurant. Maybe because I looked familiar. Dx NOO!

And what IS THE DEAL with Siwon?? He keeps giving me these weird faces everytime he touches me. It's like he really is allergic to me or something. =_=

Something else I'd like to know is: WHO THE HECK IS FLASHLIGHT GUY????

You hear someone trying to open the pool gates. Your eyes widen as you hear the sound of keys and the gate beng opened. You hold your breath and stay down under the water.

Is that the janitor?? Dx

You look up from underwater and see a blurred figure of a guy with a towel and a bag. He stops walking when he reaches your side of the pool.

...

Thump thump thump. I'll be running out of oxygen soon. Dx

He walks away but you don't see where he goes. Slowly, you lift your head out of the water so you can breathe. As soon as you do so, something splashes into the water just a couple of feet in front of you. You look around frantically, not knowing what to do and where to go. The guy is swimming away from you. You try to get out of the pool by the side wall but it's too high and you slide back down into the water. The guy has already reached the end of the pool and is now swimming back. You quickly swim towards the ladder. The splashing sounds get closer and closer. You reach the ladder and start climbing. The splashing sounds had stopped.  You look back to check.

The guy is standing right behind you. He takes off his goggles and stares at you with his mouth gaping open.

"K-Kim Haneul?"

You stare back at him as wide-eyed as he is.
