Foreword

"Howon Oppaaaa." you smiled sweetly at your big brother. Hoya knew that smile too well.

"Yes Haerin- ah?" he raised his right eyebrow.

"I kind of uh- sorta like- ya know um-" you looked down.

"Spit it out," he said.

You and Hoya were walking home from L's house after hanging out for a few hours, doing homework. You and Hoya wanted to walk home, while the other lazy members of Infinite got L to drive them. You were sure they'd make him stop and buy them ice cream or something on the way.

It was a nice day. Too nice. The sun was shining too brightly, the birds were chirping an extremely merry tune. The leaves on the trees were nice and green, but they had a dull feeling to them as well. All in all, it looked like nature was trying to hide something, like a sad person acting over the top happy to hide their pain. But no one took notice of it, if you didn't examine these tiny things nature showed, you'd be fooled into thinking the weather was beautiful and the day was perfect.

"Well, heh. I just remembered I left my Art sketchbook in my locker. Can we please go back and get it? Pleeasee." you asked putting your hands together, pleading.

"O.m.g. Haerin! You're so forgetful. How many times do I have to tell you, BRING EVERYTHING from your locker when you come home! You always forget some piece of homework!" Hoya scolded you.

"It's not homework oppa. I just need my sketchbook to draw in. I NEED it very badly." you pouted. You couldn't live without your sketchbook. It was like your diary, except with pictures and stuff. Art was your most favourite thing to do. You loved drawing, painting, sculpting, collages and all that kind fo stuff. You found it a great way of expressing yourself without words. Not a lot of poeple understood your drawings and artwork. Hoya understood almost all of them. His good friends (and your good oppas) could sometimes see what you were trying to say, but not very often.

"I don't know Haerin-ah, it's pretty late." Hoya looked at the sun that was getting ready to set. "We spent an awful lot of time at L's house. If we go back to school and then come back home, it'll be dark. I don't think it's a good idea. You can last one night wihtout your sketchbook right?"

"Please oppa, please." you begged. You wanted it, you needed it.

"Fine." Hoya sighed. "But let's hurry. It's not safe to roam around at night."

You and Hoya jogged back to school. You opened the only unlocked door and the two of you went to your locker. It was in the side hallway of the school, where you liked it. You held your lock in your hand and starting spinning it. But then stopped and looked at Hoya.

"Er, my combo?" you asked, giving him a nervous smile.

Hoya shook his head. "90-91-93"

"Thanks oppa." you smiled and spun the lock. You took your sketchbook out and safely tucked it it in your bag.

"Let's go!" you said taking his hand. You guys ran out the school and started walking home. The sun was glowing red and orange, as if it was giving a warning.

"Oppa, today when Woohyun-" you started telling him a story but someone cut you off.

"Well well well. What do we have here." a voice that sent chills up and down your spine said. You and Hoya looked behind, and saw a couple of guys wearing black clothes with black masks approaching you.

*Crap.* Hoya thought, pulling your hand.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"YUM! Thanks for the cone hyung!" Sungjong munched on his chocolate ice cream happily.
"Shut it." L growled, he had been forced to buy the 5 members ice cream when he was about to drop them off at their homes.
Even Sunggyu and Dongwoo had cones in their hands. They had made L buy them ice cream, even though THEY were the hyungs. Sungyeol didn't even count as a hyung since definetely didn't act like one, he was considered the second maknae that L took care of.
"Hey wait." Sungyeol suddenly said. "Isn't that Haerin and Hoya?" he pointed out the window.
Everyone in the car's eyes widened. He was right. On the sidewalk that led to your home Hoya was fighting some guys by himself, with scratches and bruises everywhere. You were trying to interfere but Hoya kept pushing you away.
L stopped the car right away behind the black van on the curb. They all piled out. Their ice cream's falling on the hard floor, splattering all over it and melting at a fast pace. No one noticed though, they were running to where the fight was. All cheerfulness was gone and it was replaced by hatred and coldth.
"GUYS!" Hoya cried in relief. Now he had some backup.
Curse words were being thrown everywhere along with punches and kicks.
"STOP IT!" the leader of the group cried. "Let's just do what we came to do." he took out a knife and in one swift second had jabbed it into Hoya's chest.
Everyone froze. Your eyes widened. *.....What just happened?*
Hoya was also stunned, he looked at the knife in him. He touched it.
PANG! The pain hit him. Hard. He could feel himself going now. He fell to the floor.
L was the first to break out of his trance.
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!!!" he screamed and went at them.
The others slowly came out of it as well. They were beyond furious and fought like they had never fought before.
"DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID?! YOU HURT MY DONGSAENG! YOU ARE NOT GUNNA LIVE YOU LITTLE-" Sungyyu was punching the guy in the face repeatedly, screaming profanities.
Even Sunjong, who didn't fight much and wasn't good at it, was going all-out. Tears in his eyes, he was throwing kicks everywhere like there was no tomorrow.
Sungyeol had gone crazy as well. He didn't care what he was using -whether it was his fist or something else- and just kept going.
As soon as Hoya had fallen you had rushed to his side. "OPPA! OPPA!!! HOWON OPPA!" you sobbed.
Dongwoo also ran over. "I-I'm calling the police." he took his phone out with shaky hands. You clutched onto Hoya's body that was getting colder and colder by the second.
Hoya tried to smile, but failed. "I'm fine, don't worry." you cried even harder. You, Dongwoo and Hoya were now drenched in his blood.
"Oppa I'm sorry. If it wasn't for me-" you said.
"SH!" Hoya whispered. "It's not your fault. Don't even think about blaming yourself. I'll be fine. Just make sure they don't hurt you." Even now, when he had a knife in him; he was worrying about you. Hoya didn't care about him right now because he knew he was going. He knew he was dying, it was the end. He could feel it. "Live well Haerin. Make sure Infinite takes good care of you. Don't live in regret. Be happy."
Dongwoo dropped his phone and it hit the floor, breaking into a million pieces. *He's making it sound like...." his eyes widened. "NO! DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE!"
Hoya managed a smile. "Hyung. Infinite forever...." he started closing his eyes.
"ENOUGH!" the leader yelled he pushed Sunggyu off of him. "LET'S GO!" The others pushed Infinite off of them and threw some last punches. Then in a flash, they pushed you and took the knife out of Hoya. Hoya howled in pain. His eyes went into his head. He let out one more cry and then he fell limply into the guys arms and closed his eyes Then, they threw him in their van and piled in with their own injuries. Before they drove off, one guy had the nerve to stick his hand out the window and wave the peace sign.
"WE GOT YOU NOW AS! WE'LL BURY HIM IN THE DEEPEST PITS OF HELL SO THAT HE DOESN'T COME BACK! NOT THAT IT MATTERS, HE'S ALREADY DEAD.
Dead. That word rang in your ears a million times and you still hadn't grasped everything that had just happened. It took you a minute to process everything.
Hoya was gone.
Your beloved Howon oppa was gone.
Never coming back.
No more hair ruffling.
No more forehead flicking.
No more seeing who can eat the most slices of pizza.
No more making hearts to get you to forgive him when you were mad.
No more comforting words when you were sad.
No more inspiration for your artwork that he admired so much.
No more of anything.
Because Hoya was gone now.
Dead.
