When He's Jealous
Optional Bias Scenarios
You waved goodbye to your co-workers as you made you way to your car. Clicking your seatbelt, you started the ignition and drove off down the road. Not more than ten minutes into your drive home, the engine began to stall and you pulled over. Damn, you thought. Why couldn’t this stupid thing stop working somewhere with people? It was dark and poorly lit, with you and your car stranded on a bridge about a mile to go before you would be in the busy city you lived in. Just as you were beginning to consider walking the mile, a few raindrops began to fall from the sky. It didn’t take long for the light drizzle to turn into a full rainstorm.
Fortunately, another car pulled up behind you, and you were happy to see one of your co-workers step out.
“Myungdae!” You waved to him, your angry frown turning into a hopeful smile. He grinned.
“Need a lift?” You nodded your head and grabbed your bag from the passenger seat of your car. You locked the door and ran over to him.
“Thank you so much! I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t shown up.”
“I think…you would have had a wet walk home.” He laughed and started his car. It didn’t take long for Myungdae to arrive in front of your apartment complex. “I’ll see you tomorrow!” He waved as you opened the door to exit. You waved back at him.
“Thank you so much!”
“It’s no problem.” As he gave you one final wave and turned out of the parking lot, you noticed your boyfriend standing in front of your apartment. You called out his name and ran over to him, expecting him to return the same enthusiasm.
“Hey! Sorry I’m late I had a-” You stopped mid-sentence. He was looking at you with an unhappy expression, walking into the apartment as you opened the door.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, genuinely confused. He stopped walking and turned around slowly, his head hanging lower than normal.
“That guy…” he began, “Who was he?” He looked hurt and you widened your eyes.
“No! Don’t misunderstand! He was giving me a ride home because my car stopped running. He’s just my co-worker.” Your boyfriend’s face softened and became apologetic. You smirked at him. “You weren’t jealous, were you?” He scoffed at your comment, perhaps more theatrically than someone normally would.
“Of course not! Sorry for being annoying about it.” You grinned.
“I’m not mad, you didn’t know.” He laughed.
“As long as you like me better,” he teased, poking your sides. “He’s not as handsome as me anyway.” You glared playfully.
“Oh I don’t know about that… And I bet he’d be more manly and romantic.” Your boyfriend raised an eyebrow and pretended to look offended. Taking you by surprise, he pulled you close and kissed you deeply, pressing you flat against the wall of the hallway.
“Oh really? You think so?” He kissed you again. You smiled.
“I guess I like you the best.” Your boyfriend laughed.
“That’s what I want to hear,” he said, dragging you towards the couch.
