*OT7 Special: How We Came To Be

Adventures of Bangtan toddlers

Hihi, this is the long-awaited ot7 special. Lol, there's like so many specials before this idk if this should be normal chappie. Tbh, this is probably going to be a little more angsty (??) than other chapters.

In response to ChulliePetalss' request: What in the world happened to Bangtan's parents?

*This is NOT how Bangtan really came about. Take note that their parents in this story is NOT how they are in real life.

Quick Question: Do you love your parents? How do you show it?

Your parents are really nice people, okay? They're the ones who brought you up, who kept you in their houses, and gave you food and water. They love you with all their heart. At least, show that you love them; repay them with your own love. It can be something simple, like kissing them a goodbye just before you leave for school, or pouring them a glass of drink after work, etc. If you think your friends love you more than your parents, just ask yourself: "Would my friend want to keep me in their womb for nine months?" I'M NOT SAYING ALL PARENTS ARE LOVING; I have a friend whose parents called her "stupid" for an entire day just because she scored lower on a math test than their expectations.

Anyways, enjoy!

***********************************************************

Namjoon was the first.

Rain patters on the windowpane and Bang Sihyuk chills with Hobeom in their shared house. They're just your regular guys who shared one house, two levels, with two bedrooms, one toilet, one kitchen and one basement. Not a bad deal if they said so themselves. Of course, there are two other rooms that they couldn't be bothered to use, but enough about the house.

They were just drinking coffee when the doorbell rings because Bang PD (at least that's what he likes to be called) has a piece to be completed and Hobeom is just being a nice friend. Hobeom offers to answer the door, and when he does, he comes face to face with a scene almost like from Harry Potter. A baby bundled in blankets left on the porch, with a note stuck on the blanket with a masking tape, the handwriting almost intelligible. The baby can't be left out in the cold of the night like this.

Hobeom takes the baby in, and looks at the one word scribbled on the paper. Three words, actually. Kim Namjoon. Is it the baby's name? The baby is sleeping soundly, curled up against the couch where Hobeom has laid him upon.

"Why'd you take him in?" Bang PD asks, removing his headphones.

"Well, what'd you expect me to do?" Hobeom shoots back, looking over at the baby on the couch.

"People will get the wrong idea," Bang PD says and Hobeom laughs.

"Seriously, is that all you think about?" Hobeom looks over at the baby.

Bang PD leans back against his chair, "Well, then again, we know next to nothing about taking care of babies."

Just then, there's a rumble of thunder, and surprise, surprise, Namjoon starts crying and screaming.

"Holy..." Hobeom looks out at the thunderstorm. "We need to get milk, and fast."

"What makes you think he needs to eat?"

"I don't know," Hobeom looks like he's on the edge of panicking. "I'm never going to be a father."

"Well, you're one now, involuntarily," Bang PD says, walking over towards the baby, picking it up and cuddling it. "Come on, don't cry. Papa Bang PD's here for you."

"Who knew," Hobeom laughs at the sight of his friend taking care of the baby like that. He looks over at the note that has fluttered to the ground, and there's a number scribbled on it. One. The baby is one year old?

Whaddya know? The baby will maybe spice up their lives a little.

****************************************************************************

The pale-skinned kid and the screaming kid came next. Together, even.

It was just seven months after Namjoon's addition into the Hobeom-and-Bang-PD-family that Hobeom decides to take a walk around Seoul, to go drinking, if you would. Of course, they couldn't leave Kim Namjoon at home alone (he was two years old now, for goodness' sake!), so Bang PD and Hobeom agreed to take turns. They have friends other than each other, so it was all good--neither will be lonely.

"Hey, haven't seen you with Sihyuk-ssi for a while," one of Hobeom's friends note.

"Yeah, well, he has babysitting to do," Hobeom answers.

"Nice. Getting a part-time job along with his producing," the man chugs down another glass of soju. "I like it."

It was a truth, Hobeom thinks to himself. With some parts omitted, of course. It's only after he finished his own glass that he hears the man talking again, "Hey, are you listening, Hobeom-ssi?"

"Ah, sorry, what was that?" Hobeom looks genuinely apologetic.

"There've been rumours of two kids living in the back alleys 'round these parts," says the man. "Thought I should go check it out. Wanna come with me? Said they're scavengers...scavenger-like anyway. Y'know, a li'l dangerous, so I thought I'd need a man on my back."

"No thanks," Hobeom says, drinking down another glass of soju. "I'm good."

Not that he needs anymore kids in his life.

But then again, Hobeom isn't one to pass up these kinds of opportunities. People may not consider him to be much, but at least, he's brave enough to venture down the back alleys to go look for these two kids that his friend manages to persuade him to. There was a particular gang that lived around this area, but then again, according to his friend, the gang wasn't much. Mostly seven to nine year old kids ruling the alleys, and these two kids were just caught in their territory.

Just as Hobeom is about to take another step, something goes whizzing by his face. It only missed his face by a few millimeters, and Hobeom stops in his tracks instantly, just as a kid's voice rings out, "D-Don't come any cwoser!"

"Who are you?" Hobeom knows the kid can't be any older than five. He sounded really young. He looks turns to his left (where the dart-like thing came from) and notices two boys, one holding out a bow and a quiver of makeshift arrows, and he's dressed in nothing but a singlet and shorts, one of his arm wrapped protectively around a younger boy; he looks like Namjoon's age. The younger boy apparently has wounds around his tiny and frail body, scratches here and there, along with a large bruise across his cheek.

"Y-Y'don't needa know!"

"I'm not with the Black Skulls gang," Hobeom says, holding up his hands in surrender. "We need to get you healed."

"No! Then you need to take both of us!" the pale-skinned boy readies his crossbow again.

Hobeom considers for a second, and he doesn't even call Bang PD to check whether it's okay. He nods, and says, "Come with me."

*****************************************************

Namjoon takes to them almost immediately, smiling and grinning and playing pranks on the pale-skinned boy, whom Hobeom found out is called Yoongi, with the other boy, whom Yoongi found on the streets and made friends with, and Yoongi named him Hoseok. Hoseok still has a scar across his leg, but at least, it's easy to cover up as long as he's wearing something on his lower half.

Bang PD made sure to keep Yoongi's crossbow, so that Yoongi doesn't accidentally kill Namjoon or anything, because the younger seriously just likes teasing the elder. Another thing, is that Bang PD finds Yoongi very lazy, much unlike what he expected, and Yoongi is very protective of Hoseok, fiercely stepping in when he feels that Hoseok is being attacked, either physically or verbally, but Hoseok laughs it off, always gurgling and saying that Yoongi is much too fierce.

Hobeom finds out that Yoongi is from Daegu (according to his description) and when Hoseok asked where he was from, he kept screaming "Gwangju!". But when asked where their parents are, they couldn't say anything. Hoseok looks like he was going to cry, and even Yoongi's eyes were wet.

Maybe their parents weren't a good topic to talk about.

"It's okay, I dunno my mum or dad too!" Namjoon hugs Hoseok, in an attempt to stop the other from crying.

Ever since then, the topic has never been brought up again. Namjoon has been teaching Hoseok and Yoongi to read and write, and soon Yoongi can speak in fluent and precise Korean, but Hoseok needed a little more work, somehow, because of his lisp, he mispronounces words, sometimes leading to a laughing fit between Yoongi and Namjoon, while Hoseok tries his hardest to pronounce the word properly.

But then, their family grew bigger when Taehyung and Seokjin came. Bang PD had brought Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok out to eat Korean barbeque for their first time, in the autumn of their first year together. That's when the three of them were bundled up in warm coats and beanies (Yoongi just developed a love for beanies since then, along with Hoseok and refused to take them off) and scarves and gloves. Hoseok threw snowballs at Yoongi and the latter responded with a glare.

When they were heading there, they spotted a large group of children, except this group of children aren't playing around. They were bullying two younger children who are crying and the one who seems to be older is attempting to protect the younger against the fists and feet of seven older children.

Just seeing the scene makes Yoongi grit his teeth together, and Hoseok tries to hide behind Yoongi. Yoongi's hand instinctively reaches for his back, where his crossbow should be, but he doesn't feel it there.

"Hey!"

The seven boys turn around, sparing the older boy from a seconds' worth of kicks and beatings. Namjoon beckons for him to come over discreetly. Bang PD sighs, deciding to stop the fight before it gets any worse. The leader of the boys' (of five to six years old) scoffs, and decides to run while he still has the chance. Not with two full-grown men against five-year-old kids. With a shout, he leads the group of boys away.

"You okay?" Namjoon and Hoseok runs over to the two boys, one being very much older than the other. They're dressed in nothing but thin T-shirts and shorts, and Yoongi feels a pang of nostalgia...not that he's rekindling really good memories anyway. The younger one is staring up at the strangers in fear, and the elder one is standing over his friend protectively.

"Hey, you're okay now!" Hoseok grins that big grin of his. "Friends? Can I friend you?"

The eldest looks at Hoseok's hopeful eyes and outstretched hand. He may not know why he did it, but he did. He shakes Hoseok's hand. "Uh-huh! I'm Kim Seokjin."

"And I'm Hoseok!" Hoseok grins. "Jung Hoseok!"

"I'm Kim Namjoon! Same surname as yours!"

"Kim is really common though..." Seokjin looks over at Namjoon.

"And he's Min Yoongi!" Hoseok says, pointing at Yoongi. "He's really angry all the time."

"The correct word is 'grouchy'," says Namjoon suddenly, and Seokjin looks at him in disbelief. "What does that even mean?" Seokjin turns to the other kid, "Go on, say hi."

"Hi," Taehyung waves timidly, still a little doubtful about the new group of friends.

"Hi!" Hoseok and Namjoon wave back, grinning, while Yoongi manages a little 'hi'.

"We're gonna eat Korean barbeque! You wanna join?" Namjoon asks, and he swears he can see Seokjin and Taehyung's mouths watering.

"Wait a minute," Bang PD steps in, looking down at Seokjin and Taehyung. "Where are your parents?"

At this, Seokjin dips his head, and Taehyung looks around, almost as if he doesn't know what Bang PD is talking about.

"Umm...our parents abandoned us," Seokjin says. "Mine did, at least. Taehyung...I just found him crying in the streets because he was hungry. My parents said one boy is enough in the house, and..." Big, fat tears began rolling off his cheeks, splashing onto the ground. Sensing his hyung's distress, Taehyung hugs his hyung, looking up at Bang PD with a little...distaste?

"I dunno my mom or dad too," Hoseok admits. "But at least now I have Namjoon, Yoongi-hyung and appa!" He points to Namjoon, Yoongi and Bang PD. "So you can come with us!" He turns to Bang PD, "Right?"

Thinking about it for the moment, but then sighing, Bang PD nods, "Alright."

And that's how the five of them ended up eating Korean barbeque that autumn.

***********************************************************

Taehyung takes very well to the family of five now, but still stays by Seokjin's side most of the time. Seokjin, being four, has taken an interest in cooking, and asks Bang PD to teach him, but Bang PD doesn't know how to cook, so he asked Hobeom. Thence, Seokjin learnt cooking from Hobeom every day, be it from cooking bulgogi to preparing the ingredients for ssam, or simply kimbap.

It wasn't long before Seokjin became the cook of the house, and just present him with ingredients, and he'll whip something up.

It was two years later that Bang PD brought back another kid. He was way younger than Seokjin. Seokjin is six years old, Taehyung three, Namjoon and Hoseok four and Yoongi five. This kid is like one year old, and Hobeom is reminded of the time when Namjoon, their very first kid, was left at their doorstep when his mother couldn't or didn't want to care for him.

"This is Jeon Jungkook," says Bang PD, when Taehyung drags Seokjin up to the returning adult still standing at the doorstep. Jungkook opens his eyes, a little at first, getting adjusted to the light in the living room, before coming face-to-face with a terror that his Taehyung's face splattered with blue paint all over. He even has paint in his hair. The boys were painting earlier and nobody bothered to clean up.

"Hi, Jeon Jungkookie!" Hoseok cries, waving his hands in the air, his whole hand covered in yellow paint.

"He's the maknae," says Bang PD. "Don't scare him."

"He's mine!" Taehyung says, about to reach out to Jungkook, before Bang PD swipes him away.

"Nope, nope," Bang PD says. "Go wash up first."

"Yeah, go wash up," Seokjin says, wagging a finger at Taehyung. He's surprisingly clean (except with that dot of purple on his nose), as he orders his dongsaengs to paint the picture they're working on--some picture of supposedly Bang PD with his name obviously written by Namjoon at the side. But of course, there's nothing but peach-color on the paper yet.

"We're working on hyung's skin first!" Namjoon declares, gesturing to the paper.

"Wait, let's let Jungkookie do the face!" Hoseok says, pulling Jungkook, whom Bang PD has set down on the couch, towards the painting, before grinning and dipping Jungkook's whole palm in black paint.

"Paint Bang PD-hyung's face!" Hoseok points to the paper.

Jungkook takes one look at the paper and his hand, before turning back to the paper again and, as if knowing what Hoseok is talking about, draws three across the paper, vaguely representing Bang PD's eyes and nose.

"That looks like him!" Yoongi laughs, sending the entire group bursting into laughter.

"That doesn't look like me!"

********************************************************************

Jimin was the final one, but definitely not the least. That was after Hobeom was told that Bang PD had picked Jungkook up from a friend, who couldn't support both her and Jungkook after her husband left for another woman. Ever since handing Jungkook off to Bang PD, his friend cut all contact with him.

Now, Jungkook is living a happy life, especially joining in with Taehyung to play pranks on Yoongi and Seokjin after learning how to walk.

How did their family even evolve to such a stage...Bang PD scratches his head as he wonders about it. It was just him and Hobeom at one point in time. Now they've six kids running around. He looks at the schedule pinned up on the fridge. In ten minutes, it'll be their bathtime.

"Yah!" Seokjin hisses as he grabs Jungkook by the collar. Ever since he has become the eldest hyung, Seokjin has to take care of all five of his dongsaengs, and that includes having to help Bang PD and Hobeom with his dongsaengs' bath routines, cooking for them and sometimes just babysitting them--watching cartoon network with them.

"Come on," Seokjin bops Hoseok and Namjoon's heads, dragging them towards the bathroom from their beloved TV.

Pouting, the dongsaengs head on over to the bathroom...

Just as the doorbell sounds.

Jungkook escapes Seokjin's hold and steps on the stool beside the door, looking through the peephole.

"It's a bwoy!" Jungkook cries.

"A boy?" Namjoon looks interested. Bang PD walks over to open the door, before coming face-to-face with a grinning boy holding a donation box.

"Hi! I'm Park Jimin! A-And this ish the donation box f-for children i-in the orphanage!" the boy smiles. To be honest, his clothes look quite tattered, a little dirty, and almost as if he's been wearing the same thing for ages. Bang PD takes a more closer look at the boy, and realizes something. The orphanage this boy is probably from is that one down the street. That one with no name except a big, run-down billboard with a big L and U on it.

The orphanage infamous for its poor treatment of children. The boy right now is literally a walking skeleton.

"Of course," says Bang PD. "Jin! Can you go get my wallet?"

Seokjin turns up in a few seconds with Bang PD's wallet, and Jimin greets Seokjin just as politely, seeing as Seokjin looks like his hyung.

"Here," Bang PD says, placing a bill in Jimin's donation box. And it doesn't look like a small sum.

"Thank you!" Jimin bows and turns away, walking down the stairs leading up to their porch. Bang PD watches as Jimin gives them another blinding eye-smile and continues his way along the path down to the next house.

"Hey, Hobeom," Bang PD heads over to their coat rack and grabs his coat. It's a chilly day after all. "I'm gonna pay that orphanage a visit."

"Huh, why?" Hobeom looks up from his newspaper.

But in just a few seconds, Bang PD is out of the door, and Seokjin has gone back to facilitate his dongsaengs' bathtime, leaving Hobeom questioning thin air.

***************************************************

Bang PD opens the door, and Jimin stumbles a little awkwardly into his new home. His mouth opens into an "O" when he looks around, even almost managing to turn his head a hundred and eighty.

"W-Wow!" Jimin can only utter one word as Bang PD led him up to the bedrooms, showing him to one of them.

Bang PD opens the door to the maknaes' room, and finds Namjoon trying to teach some card game to Taehyung and Jungkook.

"Right, Namjoon. I need you to move to the other room."

"Ooh, who's that?" Taehyung and Jungkook bound up to the new boy. Jungkook squints, "Hey, you're that hyung!"

"U-Um, I'm Park Jimin! Nice to meet yo--" Taehyung grabs Jimin's hands and pulls him into the room.

"You're so..." Taehyung can't find the right words, as a sulky Namjoon is forced to move his things over to the other room. Taehyung scratches his head, "Mm, we're all friends!"

"O-Okay," Jimin nods, before Taehyung sits him down in the middle of the room, where Namjoon was attempting to teach them UNO. There are multi-colored cards all over the floor.

"This is gonna be so fun, Jiminnie!" Taehyung laughs as he shuffles the cards (or at least tries to. The cards end up falling all over the ground). "Come on. Take seven cards!"

Jimin smiles, as he follows the instructions to play the game.

Maybe he will like his new home.

*************************************************************

"YAAAAAH JUNG HOSEOK!"

Yoongi chases a laughing Hoseok as he runs from the hyungs' room to the maknaes' room, hiding behind Jungkook, "Kookie! Save me!"

"H-Huh?" Jungkook looks around, suddenly feeling cornered, and Yoongi is sure that he's going to burst into tears sooner or later, especially with an angry Yoongi standing over him. Suddenly, someone walks in and bops his head, "Don't bully your dongsaengs, Min Yoongi."

Yoongi rubs his head, as Seokjin helps Jungkook up, and looks at Hoseok sternly, "Stop playing pranks on your hyung, Hobi."

Hoseok grins and hands over the red paint he's holding. Now Seokjin has wash the red paint out of Yoongi's hair.

"HYUUUUNG NAMJOON-HYUNG BROKE MR PORK!"

Taehyung's crying as he runs over to Seokjin from the hyungs' bedroom, carrying his stuffed pig that has a torn-off limb. Even the stuffing is coming out.

"Taehyung, it's just Mr Pork."

"But it's Mr. Pork!" Taehyung sniffles, holding the pig for Seokjin to see. "And Namjoon-hyung broke him!"

"I'll fix Mr Pork," Seokjin says, taking the stuffed toy from Taehyung. It's impossible to fix it, obviously, but Seokjin has a plan up his sleeve. He heads over to his own room after letting Hoseok entertain Taehyung. He goes over to a secret compartment beneath his bunk bed and take out a Mr Pork, a stuffed pig out of dozens under his bed, since Namjoon has a knack for destroying and breaking things unintentionally.

Seokjin watches as Hoseok proposes to watch television, before heading Taehyung down to the living room, followed by Jungkook, and Yoongi heads back to his room to listen to music. Seokjin stealthily (if you count stepping on a squeaky mouse toy and stepping on a toy car left on the ground and nearly falling stealthy) heads on over to Taehyung's bed and places the new Mr Pork on it. Taehyung has never noticed the difference between an old, broken Mr Pork and a new Mr Pork before. So Seokjin creeps out of the room before heading down to the living room, to find Jimin sprawled over his coloring book, and Taehyung and Hoseok absorbed in a Disney Movie. Seokjin knows all the Disney movies by heart, especially those involving princesses. How he'd always wanted to be a princess in a Disney movie, looking all pretty and flawless.

Ever since Bang PD has set up a company, called Big Hit Entertainment, he's seldomly been turning up at the house, always calling to say that he'll be late and will be staying at the company for the night. Hobeom too. Since then, the boys have been left to their devices.

Yoongi's hair has been dyed every other day by random bottles and tubes of paint Hobeom has bought for them lying around, and Hoseok and Jimin have been getting into dancing, Hoseok even learning girl group dances through music programs such as Inkigayo and Music Bank. Jungkook and Taehyung have gotten pretty close, but Seokjin still happens to be Taehyung's favourite hyung. Namjoon and Yoongi have also gotten closer, having in common their love for hip hop music. After listening to a rap part in one of Kanye West's song at a mall, Yoongi even went up to the store's clerk to ask her what music it was, and after that, they're were so far gone Seokjin doesn't even know how to bring them back. Not that it's a bad thing.

Seokjin decides it's probably time to go get dinner cooked.

He's been lonely, ever since his mother and father felt that he couldn't live up to their standards like his brother and left him in the streets, alone to fend for themselves. But after he met Taehyung, a crying two-year-old on the streets, he didn't feel so little in the big, wide world anymore, and especially not when Bang PD decided to take both him and Taehyung in, even though they were filthy from living in the streets for about a year.

Now, he has his brothers.

Bangtan Sonyeondan. Yeah, it has a ring to it.

Chapter 38: Ah, so cute! I really enjoy your stories, ty!
I cook for a living, but since I grew up with western dishes and that's what my current clientele prefer I am proudest of my soondubu jjigae which my family have been the taste testers for. However, at work, my coworkers favourite is my macaroni and cheese while the clients prefer the sweet and sour pork.
Watching RapMon chopping an onion was truly entertaining!
