*Jungkook Special: Hyuuung, I'm Sick!

Adventures of Bangtan toddlers

In response to illymaisara's request: What if Jungkook has a fever?

I'm so sorry this is so late! I had a Bio assignment, an LA essay exam and a History essay exam all in the same week, and I have a Japanese test tomorrow (no, I'm not Japanese so I'm quite screwed).

Quick Question: What is the highest temperature (pls try to put in Celsius but nvm if u can't) you reached when you had a fever? Mine was 40.1 degrees Celsius (104.18 degrees Farenheit). I srsly felt super dizzy but i continued playing Ghost Trick anyway haha

Hii! So I currently have like one vote for the ot7 special asap and one vote for June 13th sooooo guys im at a loss haha pls vote in the comments! I swear I read all your comments! I grin whenever I see a new comment tbh!

Anyways, enjoy!

"Hyuuuung! Come quick!"

"Hyuuuung!"

Seokjin's still trying to recover from the previous day, where he had attended their school play and is super tired. He almost rolls of his bed and in an attempt to get up but hits two bodies.

"What?" Seokjin looks up at his dongsaengs' worried faces.

"It's Kookie!" Taehyung and Jimin cries.

"What happened to Kookie?" Seokjin tries to get out of bed, and hits his head against the top bunk accidentally. He hears Yoongi shift, before breathing a sigh of relief when his dongsaeng doesn't wake up. He proceeds to follow Jimin and Taehyung out of the room and into the maknaes' bedroom, and he is presented with the sight of Jungkook on his bed, all wrapped up in his blanket yet still shivering, back turned towards Seokjin and a sheen of sweat is on his neck.

"Kookie's sick," Taehyung says. "Like, Kookie was really hot! He's like a phoenix!"

Where Taehyung even learned the word..."fee-nicks", was it?...Seokjin doesn't know. Maybe it's from one of those animes he watches all the time.

"Kookie's having a fever," Seokjin says, before heading down to the kitchen to retrieve the thermometer before going up to the maknaes' bedroom where he finds Jimin and Taehyung trying to entertain Jungkook with stuffed toys, and the youngest only sniffles and smiles as he watches a play that the 95-liners have cooked up out of the blue.

"Here, Kookie," Seokjin hands him the thermometer. "Stick it under your tongue and when it beeps, let hyung see it."

Jungkook does as he's told, and when the thermometer beeps, he raises it up for Seokjin to see. Thirty-eight degrees Celsius. Looks like it is that bad. He needs to make sure Kookie's in the best conditions ever--whether he needs a blanket or food or his medication...

"Right, the two of you. Kookie needs to sleep--so out you go," Seokjin points to the two of them. "Besides, we don't want you two to catch the fever too!"

With two pouts, but knowing that there's no really defying their hyung, the two of them head out of the room, promising Jungkook that they'd visit him later.

"Okay, Kookie, just rest and go to sleep, okay?" Seokjin coos. "I'll come up with some porridge in a while."

"Umm," Jungkook sniffs, and buries himself back into his blankets, curling up into a ball like a tiny little squishy ball of fluffiness. Seokjin can barely hide his fangirling (that's what Namjoon called it, at least) over Jungkook's squishiness while heading down to the kitchen, where he prepared a tiny cup of liquid Panadol, before heading up to the room again with the Panadol and a cup of water.

"Come on, Kookie, just swallow it down," Seokjin says, handing the Panadol over to Jungkook. Jungkook sniffs the Panadol before looking up at Seokjin and scrunching up his nose.

"It smells weird."

To be honest, Seokjin has never once cared how Panadol smelled. "It'll taste good, Kookie."

"I don't wanna!" Jungkook pouts and sniffles.

"It'll make you feel better."

"Then I don't wanna feel better!"

"Jungkook, take your medicine," Seokjin tries his 'don't-mess-with-your-mum' voice. "I'll let you go down and play with Taehyung and Jimin, okay?"

Almost without any warning, Jungkook immediately chugs down that small cup of Panadol, before giving Seokjin a tortured expression while he snatches away the cup of water in his hyung's hand, gulping it down. After handing the cup of half-drunk water back to Seokjin, Jungkook grins one of the biggest grins ever and dashes out of the room, apparently completely energized, and runs down the stairs yelling, "Jimin-hyung!! Taehyung-hyung!!"

Seokjin slaps his forehead, wondering if the kid is really sick or not.

*****************************************************************

"Come on, Kookie, you're sick! Let hyung get that for you," Jimin looks really proud, proud enough to make Jungkook sit down on the couch in front of the television while he and Taehyung gets whatever Jungkook needs. Taehyung has just run upstairs to get his blanket, while Jimin's simply entertaining the maknae, showing him random pictures in a colouring book and colouring them together with him.

"This should be red," a voice speaks up from behind them, and Jungkook and Jimin both jump at Namjoon, who's looking at them over the sofa.

"But it looks nicer with yellow!" Jungkook says, colouring the first colour of the rainbow yellow.

A blanket is suddenly thrown over Jungkook's shoulders, and he looks up to see Taehyung standing beside Namjoon, grinning his box-smile.

The four of them spent about another hour colouring two pictures, before presenting their work to a sleepy Hoseok and Yoongi who just emerged from their room (not to mention that Namjoon managed to snap in half three colour pencils).

"I'm hungwy," Hoseok's lisp is coming out, especially since he's still sleepy.

"Jin-hyung's getting breakfast ready," Namjoon says. "Go brush your teeth first!"

"Mhm," Hoseok yawns again, before heading off to the bathroom with Yoongi, who's rubbing his eyes.

"Breakfast is ready!" Seokjin calls from the kitchen, and four little toddlers rush into the kitchen, sitting at their assigned seats (which Seokjin made sure to do, but not without a lot of complaining like: "Namjoon-hyung said I got no jams!" "I wanna sit next to Kookie!" "Yoongi-hyung's mean! I don't wanna sit next to him!"). Seokjin helps Jungkook into his chair and the maknae slurps his porridge hungrily.

"Where's Hoseok and Yoongi?" Seokjin asks.

"Still washing up," Namjoon replies, sipping his own porridge, before making a face and proceeding to dump some salt and pork floss into the mixture.

"Right now, we have one sick Kookie, and five other boys who might catch the fever from him," says Seokjin.

"In other words, five other people who are potential contractors of the fever," says Namjoon, eyes twinkling, and Yoongi rolls his eyes. Namjoon and his big vocabulary again. Namjoon frowns, "Wait a minute. Aren't there six of us minus Kookie?"

Seokjin takes like five seconds to understand what Namjoon's saying (and to do the math), but then he grins devillishly, "I, Kim Seokjin, will never, and I repeat, NEVER, catch colds because I am the Kim Seokjin!"

"That wasn't what you said the last time you caught a cold, hyung," Yoongi smirks.

Seokjin's ears turn a bright shade of pink, "I-I mean that from now onwards..."

"Hyung is never getting sick again," Namjoon grins. "Is that what hyung was going to say?"

"Aish!" Seokjin points at Namjoon and says the dreaded four words; the four words that has Jimin's lower lip trembling, Taehyung recoiling in shock, Yoongi's eyes widening and Hoseok practically screaming.

"No ice-cream tonight!"

*****************************************************************************

"Do you wanna go out and play, Kookie?" Taehyung asks, looking at the maknae, who has a box of tissues next to him, along with a cup of water and his body is covered by a blanket.

"Kookie's sick. He has to stay at home and rest," Yoongi's lying in an armchair he's claimed as his own ever since a week ago.

"You're sounding like Jin-hyung," Jimin pouts. "Come on, Kookie! We'll go out and not tell Jin-hyung about it. He's learning to cook a new recipe now, so he won't know we're gone!"

"Yoongi-hyung! Can you help me with something here?" Namjoon calls from upstairs. He's obviously in his room attempting a...probably a math question, that he can't understand. Impossible, since Namjoon is way better at maths than anyone here.

Yoongi shoots the three maknaes a look that says, "Don't you dare" before heading up to the hyungs' bedroom to help Namjoon with whatever he needed help with. Jimin looks over at Hoseok, who's playing on his 3DS.

"Hey, Hobi, do you wanna go out and play?" Taehyung asks, and the elder grins. The four of them head out as silently as possible.

After being greeted by the sun already somewhat high in the sky, Jimin and Jungkook round over to the backyard, where they ride their tricycles in circles, play with the hose (and ultimately making the whole place wet), flop back on their backs to cloud-gaze...

"Let's go down to the ice-cream place!" Jungkook grins, and everyone looks at Hoseok. Hoseok reaches into his shorts' pockets and fishes out a fistful of notes--his saved-up allowance that he always keeps with him (and even when he's sleeping, he hides his money under the pillow so Jin-hyung won't ask him to put it in his piggybank).

"Come on, let's go!" Taehyung grins a mischievous grin as the four of them make their way down to the ice-cream place.

***********************************************************

"The house is surprisingly quiet," Namjoon observes.

"Yeah," Seokjin nods, putting down the book he's reading. He swears the television's not even switched on. He walks out of the hyungs' bedroom, all while looking over the balcony and checking to see if they were there...

"YOONGI!"

Yoongi emerges from the room, "Hmm?"

"Don't 'hmm' me! Where are they?" Seokjin points at the empty living room, and Yoongi shakes his head while shrugging his shoulders.

Getting both of them mad isn't going to solve anything, Seokjin thinks to himself, slapping his forehead. Where can they have gone? There are a million places where his brothers can have gone!

"They obviously went out to play," Namjoon says, tugging at Seokjin's sleeve, while pointing to the window on the wall between the hyungs' and the maknaes' rooms. The whole backyard was wet, and the tricycles are not where they are supposed to be. Not to mention there are four toddler-shaped imprints in the mud. Then...there's footsteps.

"I'm going down," Seokjin says.

"We're coming with you, hyung," Namjoon grins, pulling out a pair of sunglasses from his pocket. "We can be Totally Spies!" (To which Yoongi snorts.)

"Alright," Seokjin says as he steps out of the house (and sees a trail of four sets of muddy footprints heading off to the right). "Let's go!"

("You watch too much anime, hyung.")

*******************************************************

"Whaddya want, Kookie?"

"Cookies and cream!"

"I-I want a-a-a chocolate chip with tons of sprinkles!" Jimin cries out.

"Pistachio-peanut butter with chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles with chocolate-strawberry sauce!" Taehyung adds in his order, and Hoseok looks at him funny.

"Okay," Taehyung can see Hoseok trying to remember the orders (because he's mouthing the orders to himself) and decide to stick by his hyung becaus he's sure that he can't remember all the orders either, so he helps out his hyung by remembering his and Jimin's orders. (What's wrong with pistachio-peanut butter with chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles with chocolate-strawberry sauce?)

"Go sit first," Jimin says, pointing to the ulu table all the way at the corner of the store where they always sat at--it is the only table where they had seven seats and he remembers that one time when Taehyung danced on the table and their whole group got yelled at by the store manager because they were throwing chocolate sticks at each other.

After a while, the two kids return with the ice-cream, and thankfully, the orders are right. Jimin starts digging into his ice-cream, while Jungkook eats his ice-cream while sniffling, always trying to wipe off some snot coming out of his nose and threatening to trickle onto his ice-cream.

"After this we gotta go back," says Hoseok, eating his own strawberry-flavoured ice-cream. "Jin-hyung's gonna find out!"

"Jin-hyung's going to find out?"

Hoseok freezes. The entire group freezes as they look up, 100% fear and guilt on their faces as they look up to see the steaming-mad face of their Jin-hyung.

************************************************************************

"Stay in bed! The whole day!" Seokjin slams the door, still mad at the group of four's little escapade. He looks out of the window, and makes sure that Jimin and Taehyung are still cleaning the backyard liked he asked (more like ordered) them to. Meanwhile, Hoseok's punishment comes later--he has to wash the dishes. Namjoon and Yoongi are relaxing in the hyungs' bedroom.

Jungkook looks at where his hyung disappearing, and suddenly, the room looks all too big, despite being faces all over the walls: Jimin's Taeyang posters, Jungkook's G-Dragon posters and posters of random animals covering the entirety of the bedroom walls. He wishes his hyungs will come and visit him, if not he'll just be sleeping the whole day away, and Jungkook doesn't want that.

So he gets up from his bed, goes over to the bookshelf to retrieve the Frog Prince, a fairytale he's been hooked onto ever since a few days ago when Jin-hyung bought it for Namjoon, but Namjoon found it too easy, so it came to the maknaes' bookshelf. Jungkook, book in hand, opens the door and peeks out. No Jin-hyung in sight.

He runs over to the hyungs' bedroom, making sure to close the door to the maknaes' bedroom tightly. Inside, he finds Yoongi sleeping while having his headphones over his ears, and Namjoon sitting on his bed, reading one of those big, difficult-to-read books with all those big words. Warren Buffet? Who is that?

"Namjoon-hyung!" Jungkook shoves the book into Namjoon's arms. "Read to me!"

Namjoon looks at Jungkook, who's pouting at him, to the book in his arms, to Jungkook again. Namjoon puts his book down and pats the space next to his bed for Jungkook to sit. Jungkook squeezes himself into the small cavern of blankets and mattresses and pillows that is Namjoon's bed. Jungkook rests his head on Namjoon's shoulder while Namjoon starts reading.

"What'cha reading about?" Yoongi crawls down from his top bunk to watch Namjoon and Jungkook reading the Frog Prince.

"The Frog Prince!" Jungkook grins, and Yoongi rubs his eyes.

"I thought I heard Jin-hyung say 'stay in bed the whole day'..." Yoongi yawns. "I wanna listen too." He plops himself down at the foot of Namjoon's bed with his Kumamon plush toy, his ears perked up.

"Anyway, the Frog Prince and the Princess kissed, and guess what? The Frog Prince turned back into a Prince!" Namjoon tries to fake enthusiasm, though he's sure he's read this book to the maknaes about three hundred times already. "They got married, and in the end, the Princess and the Prince lived happily ever after. The end."

"I missed the entire middle of the story," Yoongi comments, getting up from the bed, before climbing back up onto his own bed and listening to music again.

"Right, go back to bed, Koo--" Namjoon looks down at Jungkook, and finds the younger curled up against his side, sleeping, and is it just him or is Jungkook surprisingly warm? Jin-hyung may be returning with the thermometer soon and...

"KOOKIE, WHERE ARE YOU?!"

Namjoon can only laugh silently as he pictures a hyperventilating mother looking for her lost child.

Oh, boy.

**************************************************************************

That's it. Seokjin has given up. He watches his dongsaengs eating dinner, Jimin and Taehyung with sour faces, while Hoseok is trying to make Namjoon and Yoongi laugh at some joke, and Jungkook is simply eating his porridge, while picking at stuff in the porridge once in a while.

Kookie is blatantly ignoring Seokjin, even when the latter tries to get him to eat his vegetables. After awhile, Seokjin gets frustrated and gives up, and Namjoon and Yoongi (who've lost interest in Hoseok's story a long time ago) observes it all. Soon, the table is only filled with the maknae line and Hoseok's chatterings. After dinner, as promised (ordered), Hoseok helps Seokjin out in the kitchen, drying plates, and Seokjin thanks whoever's up there that at least this dongsaeng is understanding, and although he feels very strongly, he forgives and forgets easily.

"Thanks, Hobi," Seokjin nods in his dongsaeng's direction, and Hoseok flashes him a smile before running up to the hyungs' room to probably play Legend of Zelda or Cooking Mama or something (Seokjin will kill him if Hoseok dares to touch his Cooking Mama 2 or Mario Kart game cartridges).

Jungkook had announced that he was tired, and had wanted to retire early, but Jimin and Taehyung are still watching The Good Dinosaur in the living room, while Yoongi is already fast asleep and Namjoon is still reading one of those Karl Marx books...whoever Karl Marx is, and whoever Josef Stalin is...

Seokjin leans back against his bed, thinking about the tiring day. He looks at the clock. It's nearly eight. Seokjin gets up from his seat on the comfortable bed, before heading down to the kitchen and getting the tub of cookies-and-cream ice-cream he just bought today. He takes the ice-cream scoop out of that rack of utensils hung near the sink and he takes two giant scoops out of the ice-cream, plopping them one-by-one into the small bowl. He tops it with a lot of chocolate and rainbow sprinkles, before showering it with a pinch of pecan nuts. He takes a dessert spoon, sticking it in the ice-cream before heading back up to the maknaes' room.

Quietly, Seokjin opens the door, and just as he though. Jungkook isn't asleep. He's reading the Frog Prince, and from the looks of it, he's getting frustrated at the meanings of the words. He looks up when the door opens, and visibly turns away when he notices it's his hyung. He sniffles a little, curled up into a tiny ball, the blanket and the book clutched in his small hands.

"Hey, Kookie?"

Jungkook shifts, but makes no move that says he's going to listen.

"Hyung's sorry. I got a little mad," Seokjin sighs, before heading towards Jungkook's bedside table and placing the bowl of ice-cream on it. "Actually, I got a lot mad. But hyung really wants you to get better, okay? When you get better, you can eat all the ice-cream you want."

The bowl clatters a little when it makes contact with the table. At this, Jungkook's ears perk up, and he turns towards the bedside table, before noticing the ice-cream--made just the way he likes it. Throwing his book aside, Jungkook grasps the bowl of ice-cream and begins eating it, shoving the cookies-and-cream mixture with rainbow and chocolate sprinkles and pecan nuts into his mouth.

"Just want to let you know...hyung's really sorry, okay?" Seokjin says, bending down so he comes eye-to-eye with Jungkook.

"Mhm," Jungkook nods, before Seokjin takes the empty bowl from him.

"Sleep, alright? The more sleep you get, the quicker you'll get better," Seokjin says, before Jungkook nods and turns to the wall, sleeping at last.

Seokjin, after cleaning the bowl (and finding the maknae line passed out on the couch), proceeds to help them back to their beds. When he gets back to his own room, he finds Hoseok passed out with his 3DS still switched on on his bed, showing a Game Over screen, and Yoongi with headphones over his ears, asleep, and Namjoon with a book on his face, asleep too.

Seokjin yawns, and lies down in his own bed, snuggling against his Mario plushies under his covers.

And with that, he sleeps.

**********************************************************************

The next day...

"Hyuuung!" Jungkook rushes into the room, and Seokjin is just recovering from yesterday, when he tried to take care of the sick maknae. Jungkook looks perfectly healthy now, if not a little sleepy.

"What?" Seokjin rubs his bleary eyes, attempting to roll out of bed when he makes contact with Jungkook.

"Hyung, it's Jimin-hyung and Tae-hyung."

Seokjin gets out of bed, and says to Namjoon, who's up and awake and reading a book about the World War Two, with another book about the French Revolution placed on the bedside table, "Help Kookie take his temperature."

Namjoon nods, before proceeding to help Jungkook with the thermometer.

Seokjin walks into the room ands sees two of the maknae line grinning sheepishly, and Taehyung has the audacity to let out a loud sneeze.

"That's it. No visitors for the day," Seokjin shakes his head. "Sleep it off."

With that, he heads downstairs to prepare medicine.

Thank goodness it's a Sunday.

Chapter 38: Ah, so cute! I really enjoy your stories, ty!
I cook for a living, but since I grew up with western dishes and that's what my current clientele prefer I am proudest of my soondubu jjigae which my family have been the taste testers for. However, at work, my coworkers favourite is my macaroni and cheese while the clients prefer the sweet and sour pork.
Watching RapMon chopping an onion was truly entertaining!
