Lyn looks at Dr Park and next she looks at Nurse Kim who is crying. She takes a deep breath. “The reason behind my calmness is it is my personality. This is the typical me. I guess I am raised this way. And I think I am not that good at expressing my own feelings. And actually, I made a research on the similar case like mine. I rechecked every symptom that I have been feeling a week after I got discharged from the hospital. And I found the same thing in every article that I read. And I felt like it was weird for you to take a very long time to call me. So I thought it must be something serious going on. And I was totally right. That is why I don’t bring anyone here with me today. If it is good news, I can deliver it to them myself and if it is the opposite, I want it to remain unknown to them.” She answers Dr Park’s question. “What do you mean by that?” Nurse Kim asks her while sitting next to Lyn. “One of the reasons I didn’t tell anybody about this meeting and I don’t bring anyone alone is I don’t want any of them to know that I have a terminal illness. I don’t want them to worry about me. I don’t want them to treat me like a sick person. I don’t want to spend my final days with them being sad because of me. I want my final days to be filled with laughter and happiness. I don’t want it to be filled with tears and sadness.” She explains.

Dr Park looks at Nurse Kim. “If this is what you want us to do, we will do it for you. But I don’t think they will be happy to be left without any notice Lyn ssi.” Dr Park says to her. “My case is special because I am informed how long do I have left. I can do everything so that I won’t regret anything. And for them, most of us are left without any notice. To be honest, no one knows when the time is up for them. So I believe they will accept the fact eventually when the time comes. I don’t want their treatment to me will change. It will be awkward. I don’t want them to spend our final days together with the anxiety and worries. The most important thing is I don’t want them to count the days we have left before I leave. I’d rather leave without them knowing that I am actually in pain.” She futher explains. “Dr Park, I think we should respect her decision. She should not be stressful right now. You know what I mean, right?” Nurse Kim tries to convince Dr Park. She finally gives up. “Lyn ssi, I respect your decision. I just hope that you can at least let your husband know about this. I don’t think he will be able to accept this fact when the time comes without being informed first. He will lose it. He loves you so much. At least please give him the chance to spend his final days with the one that he loves the most. That person is you, his one and only wife.” She asks for only that thing. Lyn smiles at the sweet information she just received. “How do you know that he loves me a lot?” She asks out of curiosity. “I am also married and I understand what he feels just the way he looks at you. I also have my own partner, my husband. I don’t think I can be that strong to see my loved one lying down on the bed because of an accident. He almost lost you once. I don’t think he can handle the real loss.” She answers. Nurse Kim also adds. “Lyn ssi, I know I don’t know him personally. I am only a fan of his acting. I know how good he is at it. But what I witnessed those two days, it was definitely not an act. The tears were love tears. He was so down because he could not do anything to help you. I think God answered his earnest prayers. I also think that he has the right to know about this Lyn ssi.” She says to her. Lyn smiles thinking about her one and only husband. She nods. “I will think about it. But for now, please keep this a secret. And one more thing, in my condition right now, can I travel via airplane for hours?” She asks.

“Yeah, there is no problem for you to take a long hour flight as long as you bring your medicine along. You have to make sure you eat the medicine before taking off and landing so the strong pressure won’t affect you too much.” Dr Park explains to her. Lyn nods. “Okay Dr Park. Thank you so much. Do you have anything else to say to me? Any advice maybe?” Lyn asks him. “Just be strong and don’t give up. Only God knows how long you will survive. It may be longer than we expected. And who knows miracle happens again just like how you survived last time. And I think I wil give you a two month worth of medications, just in case you need more. At this stage right now, you are still getting used to the lack of handling the pain. And the more painful it is, you won’t be able to handle it well. And that is when you get fainted out of nowhere. Just eat the medicine right away when you start to feel dizzy. It is the sign of the pain you’re feeling.” She elaborates more about the illness. “Is there any limits of the medication I should intake a day?” She asks another question. “No, when you feel the pain, eat it right away. So that you won’t end up fainting.” He explains. “Okay Dr Park. I will remember that. Thanks again. I wil leave first.” Lyn excuses herself to leave. “Nurse Kim will give you the medicine you need. She wil explain more. Be strong Lyn ssi. If you feel something is off somewhere, please come here right away.” She says to Lyn. She only nods and she smiles at her before leaving her office.

“Lyn ssi, this is your medication stock for two months but you can come back anytime to get a new batch of it.” Nurse Kim explains to her. “Nurse Kim, stop calling me Lyn ssi. Just call me Lyn. And can I call you unnie instead?” Lyn wants to throw that formal vibe between them away. Nurse Kim smiles at her. “Okay then. Lyn, you can just contact me whenever you have questions about the illness. This is my number.” She gives Lyn a small card. “Thanks unnie. I really appreciate it. And thank you so much for taking such a good care of me when I was admitted for a week. You were so sweet talking to me when I was in coma. I was kind of entertained by your random stories of the day.” Lyn shares her secret. “What? Did you listen to everything?” She asks with a very surprised look on her face. “Yeah, I could hear everything. It was just that I could not respond. I was crying inside. I was laughing inside. You were so funny unnie. So what happened to that guy who always sent you the flowers? Did you know who he is?” Lyn asks her makes her drops her jaw and mouth wide open. “Aigoo. I am so embarrassed right now. Yeah, he was my senior in high school. I’ve met him recently. We talk a lot. I didn’t know that he had a crush on me back then.” She shares the story. Lyn giggles. “Good luck unnie. Please let me know if there is a good news between you two.” She says to her. “Kyungsoo ssi is definitely lucky to have such a pretty and nice wife like you. Though I only knew you for a while, I feel like I have known you for years. When I was informed about the result, I couldn’t accept it but seeing how strong you are, I know I have to give a positive vibe to you. I believe you will win over this illness. Don’t give up, Lyn. You have many more happy years with your husband and family.” She says to her. “Thanks unnie. Please pray for me. I will leave first. I need to see someone after this.” Lyn bids goodbye.

Lyn goes to the small park next to the hospital where some people are spending their time with their family. She takes a seat at an empty bench. She just wants to get some time alone. It is time to digest all the information that is given to her earlier. ‘Since Dr Park told me that they came with the 3-4 months estimation three weeks ago, so I think I am left with approximately only 3 months. That is a very long time if I spend it well. And I think I need to start planning what I am going to do for the next three months.
