Hesitations

My Groom Who Left ME in the Altar

In my dream I saw two figures standing in an arch made of flowers they were happy and content. I stand before them growing envious as I stare at them. They were perfect and happy, a thing a longed to experience too.

I reached for them but when I did they faded quickly.

“WOOH!” someone shouted and my eyes opened instantly.

Out of the corner of my eyes I saw Siwon, Heechul and Leeteuk cheering for someone on the television while the others sat silently and go about their business. I kept my head on the bed.

I must have been asleep for a long time.

I felt my hands still wrapped around Kyuhyun’s hand and I smiled. I looked up and saw him studying me.

“Hi, sleepy head.” Kyuhyun greeted me.

“How long am I out?” I asked looking at my surroundings.

“Three hours.” he replied looking at the clock.

                I blinked. “Jinjja? That’s long.”

“You murmured in your sleep.” he said teasing me.

“I do not.” I said indignantly.

“Yes, you do.” Kyuhyun laughed. “Minnie, back me up.”

“You mentioned Kyuhyun’s name.” Sungmin said not looking away from his phone.

I blushed deeply, embarrassed by this news.

I squeezed his hand but something felt weird. I look at my left hand and there in one of my fingers is a ring.

Not just any other ring, it was the same ring he gave me when he first proposed to me minus the dozen balloons. I looked at him questioningly. I’m sure that I left that ring to my mom.

“When they wouldn’t tell me where you are I asked your mom to give me the ring.” he explained. “I was hoping I can give it back to you one day.”

I touched the ring with trembling hands. I never thought I’ll see it again. I’ve almost forgot how beautiful it is. I can’t believe Kyuhyun kept it after all this time.

Kyuhyun touched my face and whispered softly. “Tae Hee, I would really like to kneel down in front of you but my situation won’t allow me but I will still ask you this question. Will you marry me?”

My mind went blank. What did he just say?

The silence filled the room. The boys were silent too when they realize where the direction of the conversation is going. I saw them looked at each other nervously. They were about to make a run for the door when I spoke.

“Why should I marry you?” I blurted out my mind still blank.

They all stopped in their tracks and stood in the room awkwardly looking from me and then back to Kyuhyun.

Kyuhyun was stunned too but when he recovered he answered with a steady voice. “Because I love you and you love me.”

“That’s the same situation we were in three years ago.” I said staring at his eyes. “We loved each other but it didn’t work out. How can it be different this time?”

Kyuhyun grasped my hand like he depended on it. “Because this time I won’t screw up and I won’t make the same mistakes again. I love you Tae Hee and I’m dying to prove it to you.”

Am I ready for this yet?

I love Kyuhyun but the fear and memories were holding me like prisoner right now and I couldn’t think properly. What if he leaves me again? Can I do this one more time?

I’m confused and my heart felt heavy.

You wouldn’t know if you don’t try. My brain seemed to tell me.

I remember Cho umma’s words. In the end I will only have one daughter-in-law.

And I want to be that girl so bad. I realized that not only I wanted to be Kyuhyun’s wife but I also want to be a member of the Cho family to be loved by all of them like we used to.

I stared at Kyuhyun’s eyes and I only found love.

“Yes, yes I’ll marry you!” I whispered fervently.

Kyuhyun broke into a smile and kissed me in front of his friends who are busy cheering and jumping up and down. I’m pretty sure they can hear us down the hallway.

“Oh! I thought she’s going to say no.” Donghae sighed with relief.

“You scared us Tae Hee.” Ryeowook said patting Kyuhyun in the back.

“Yah maknae! You better be good.” Leeteuk said.

                “I will.” Kyuhyun smiled.
