What’s a monster? What makes them so terrifying? What makes them strike fear down into the hearts of humans regardless of their age?

Is it because of their horrifying appearances?

Their powerful strengths and abilities?

Or is it because they’re cold-blooded?

Monsters have always existed among the human communities, whether it was a harmless one thought up by a lonely child to have a companion to play with or the legendary ones that existed in myths from across the world. Some hides under your bed, waiting for a chance to strike and some merely desire to live in peace with humans.

Jongdae was just strolling down the street like any normal person would, training was dismissed and his stomach complained of hunger as it rumbled impatiently. There were food stalls nearby and the smell of it was just so heavenly and tempting. The rest of EXO was scattered nearby in favor of some other food while he was just evaluating what he should eat.

After a while, he decided to eat some noodles and get some ice cream before going back to the agency but all his plans went down the drain went the earth shook. Is this another earthquake again…? He thought annoyingly as the ice cream he had just gotten fell down onto the asphalt. Then, people around him started running and screaming as he was cleaning the mess.

The members ran towards him and urged him to run, he was confused and demanded an explanation if he was going to expend his energy more on some sort of film and heaven forbid that someone was actually shooting a movie.

‘What the hell are you doing? Run!’ Minseok yelled. ‘A giant worm appeared out of nowhere and it’s causing cracks to appear all over!’ The maknae half explained and half yelled. True to his words, he heard something roar in the distance and was followed by a slam, causing more screams and panic to ensue.

Ahead of them, they saw a woman dressed in all black and a fierce look adorned her sharp features walking towards them, opposite of where everyone was heading. ‘You don’t wanna head that way, there’s a monster that’s causing earthquakes and eating people!’ Joonmyeon said and proceeded to pull her hand in an attempt to save her.

You merely pulled your hand without a word, you don’t need saving. ‘How far is your agency?’ you asked them. ‘It’s just ahead. Why?’ Yixing answered. ‘Good, because I need a shelter for a while.’ You muttered to yourself.

From the inside of your coat, you pulled out three black metal stakes with chains atop and stuck them deep into the ground. Reciting a few spells and smearing blood on it, the stakes glowed crimson and the chains floated in mid-air as a wall of light erected right where the stakes were embedded.

‘What the heck—‘ ‘Blood Barrier, it’s made out of my blood as the name implies to slow down and weaken the monster’s movements at the cost of my health. Now move!’ They obeyed and showed you the way as you held your bleeding arm. Upon entering, you made your way to the nearest room available and threw your coat in a corner.

They watched in silence as you rolled up your sleeves and held your palm over the wound to heal it. Green light enveloped your wound and they watched in awe as the trickles of blood that dripped down your arm began to flow in reverse and the skin sealed up like it was never cut in the first place.

‘Which one of you here is good at bandaging wounds?’ you asked, startling them. ‘Uhh… Me…? I guess…?’ Jongdae pointed to himself as the others pointed to him simultaneously. ‘Alright, I’m gonna entrust this task to you specifically.’ You looked at him dead in the eye and he gulped.

EXO was a flailing mess and a chorus of messed up sentences when you began to strip your clothing off until you were left in nothing but your shorts and bandaged upper torso. ‘What. Never seen a woman’s body before? I thought you guys were used to seeing that on other female idols and your erted fangirls.’ You commented bluntly.

After unwrapping the bandages on your torso, they found the reason why you had it wrapped up. Tattoos began to appear all over, in the middle of your chest where your s were covered up by smokes of darkness curling about and it led straight down to your navel, on your shoulder blades and all the way down to your palms, on your ankles, the back of your neck stretching straight down to your tail bone, a few markings on your face and of course, they were also on your forehead and the scalp where it was hidden by your hair then connected to the one on your neck.

‘Let’s go. It’s not safe to stay in a building.’ They went outside as instructed and wondered what your next step would be. Pointing to an empty spot quite near to the barrier, you told them to stay there if they didn’t wanna get killed. ‘Sir, Giga-class monster spotted. Earth type, mass destruction. Permission to engage, sir.’ ‘Permission granted, rescue any civilians left and bring to HQ. Over.’ Rescuing civilians are now your top priority along with eliminating the monster.

Right, lets do this . You crouched down into a runner’s position with your head down, out of the corner of your eye, you could see EXO peering over the protective barrier you had conjured up for them and smirked as you saw their eyes were about to pop out of their sockets as you focused on channeling and distributing your energy equally to your entire being.

Two pairs of black wings sprouted out of your back along with a tail that sprouted into blue flames like the ones that encircled you and two pair of sharp horns that grew out of the side of your head right behind your long, pointed ears as your original hair colour turned white and longer than it should’ve been, held up by a thin intricately carved hair ornament.

You stood up and held your hand out and a dual-edged sword appeared from the murky depths of abyss and floated upwards where it’s hilt fit into your hand. You flexed your wings and arched them as back as your muscles allowed you to before taking off into the sky, whipping up a dust storm as you did so and shot straight into the target.

EXO watched as you sailed through the air, avoiding the falling obstacles with a series of fluid movements and using your wings to engulf your torso as you drilled through the building and eventually drawing out your weapon and creating a huge gash into the monster’s body with just a slash. A few aerial backflips and firing a few fireballs to keep it from reaching the barrier.

The monster has four hearts and it looked like you weren’t goona be done anytime soon as it kept burrowing into the ground to avoid your attacks. You facepalmed yourself when you thought of a way to drive it out of it’s hiding.

You dredged your mind for angry thoughts and it worked, they watched as your entire being was lit on blue flames, only the gold shade of your irises were the discernible part of you. You flew down to one of the holes and began to breathe a stream of flames from your mouth, palms and tail. Fanning the flames with the help of your wings, every single hole had flames flaring up and the heat must’ve been so unbearable that the worm was driven out of it’s hiding with it’s hide scorched and smoking. Leaving it vulnerable.

With an inhale, you lifted the sword until it was above your head and cleaved the monster in half as it roared and laid still in a pool of it’s blood in which you were also covered in. As you landed near EXO with your flames still on, the tar on the road and the metal bodies of the cars melted in an instant.

Returning back to your normal self, you walked over to them and dismantled the barrier. ‘Anyone have cellphones on them?’ you asked, smoke still curling from your limbs. Chanyeol handed you his and you were about to dial a private number when someone suspicious crossed your field of vision.

Your prehensile tail had the ability to elongate at will and you lashed it out like a whip and caught the man in a choke hold, holding him by the throat as he struggled to free himself. ‘Who are you and what are you doing here?’ you held him closer. He wouldn’t answer so you proceeded to scorch him with your hands that were still hot from your previous fight.

The man screamed but didn’t answer, you sighed and called in Command to bring in a heliquad. Once back at HQ, you dropped the man off in interrogation room before leading EXO to an infirmary to get checkups done.

‘Usual treatment?’ Lara, the head nurse asked with a smile. ‘Like always.’ You responded with a smile as you were ushered off by a male nurse. EXO members were nervous since they’re in an unfamiliar place and filled with both humans and monsters alike.

They saw injured civilians here as well and for the firs time in their lives, they felt the fear of not being able to live to see the next sunrise. They were each required to go through some tests, including blood test to see if they were contaminated with some chemical.

One by one they went until the results came out and the alarm blared when Jongdae was examined, the members panicked and were confused as security pointed tranquilizing guns on them. ‘You, how is this possible?’ one of the hematologists asked in fear. ‘I don’t understand, what’s going on?’ Jongdae frowned as he looked at the guards for some sort of explanation.

‘Stand down, people. Explain.’ He heaved a relief when you came to his rescue. Well, it wasn’t much of a help since you were wrapped in only bandages at certain parts of your body. ‘T-this man, I don’t know how he did it but his vitals and the genes in his blood and tissues showed that he’s a dihybrid monster…!’ Jongdae could feel your eyes trailing all over his body like a hawk watching it’s prey as you circled around him.

‘I doubt he knows anything about this, send him to Aleksandr and Shura. Then have him put under quarantine, Sevastyan and Romulus will take turns patrol his cell. Put the others to the civilians’ quarters, I’ll see him after my treatment.’ You merely said after observing him and returned to the therapy room where the transparent doors barred their entrance.

The guards named Sevastyan and Romulus ushered him to an elevator that seemed to descend lower than the level they were already in and to his surprise, it moved
