She wasn't looking at me though; she was looking at my father.
Stupid You,Third Person POV:
Donghae opens his eyes, still slightly groggy. He sees the sky was becoming brighter, and assumes it's time to go. He looks over to Seunghyun who was sitting on the nook by the window, asleep while he was leaning on the wall. Guess it's not time yet, Donghae thought to himself, happy. He looks to Gaheun, who is resting her head on his chest, fast asleep. He smiles and let's go of her with one arm, to hold her hand, which was resting right beside her face. He exhales deeply, content as he looks out the window. The dark blue sky was becoming brighter, and was now even being complimented with light red and purple; the sun was coming out. Donghae laughs quietly to himself, I'm so stupid, I actually thought of telling the sun to go away. This made him think: he was thinking clearly when he made his decision, he did think all his options through, and now, he's accepted the reality. Just like how he knows he can't tell the sun to disappear, he knows he can't be with Gaheun. This thought doesn't upset him anymore though, he takes it as a fact, something unchangeable, and he's ready for it.
Seunghyun's POV:
"Minkyung? Minkyung? Where are you?!" I yell in the darkness. I heard her voice, I know it. I can't see a thing, why? Usually we can see a little in the dark right? It's like I'm blindfolded.
"Love is an emotion, something instinctual, something that logic will never be able to understand."Her voice sounds like it's coming from all around me. "heheh, what’s the rush? We're not going anywhere..." she continues. Where are you? I run as fast as I can, trying to follow her voice, but no matter which direction I run, it seems like I'm getting neither farther away or closer to her. Her voice is still the same no matter where I go.
" Gosh, you ruin all the fun." another voice sounds, mixing in with Minkyung's.
"Geez... Relax! We're still here, haha, you're such a weirdo sometimes... You know that?" Gaheun. I run to the direction of her voice. Where are we? Where are they?
Suddenly, the darkness flashes with a brightening light. Two of them, I use my hand to shade my eyes. I look ahead of me to see two pillars of light, one shining right on Minkyung, the other on Gaheun.
"What're you two doing?..." I ask them, they don't move. Are they?... Frozen?... They're not even blinking. But they were both smiling; Minkyung with her always kind, crescent eyed smile, Gaheun with her 'failed attempt at hiding her smile' smile. I walk towards them, but after I take a few steps, I hear another voice; father.
He steps into my view from the side, a gun in hand, blood splattered on his clothes.
"Father, what's happening here?" I ask him, truly confused.
He chuckles, "Well... This is where the foolish boy has to make his decision." decision...? About what?
"Don't you see Seunghyun? In the end, only one of them will still be here... You just have to choose which one. Simple." What?
"Seunghyun. We don't have all day. I've gotten rid of Donghae and his father already. All you have to do is decide. You better hurry before I get impatient," he says, reloading his weapon. What? He's gotten rid of Donghae ...? Then why do I still have to choose?... I look over to Gaheun immediately when he says this. Her expression has changed. She was no longer smiling; her smile has been replaced with a look of pure terror. She wasn't looking at me though; she was looking at my father.
"So Seunghyun? Times ticking..."
"I don't... Understand..."
"Ugh. Foolish boy. Isn't the answer obvious? The other one is already gone. Why would you need to think twice? Well no matter... Your time is up." He answers rashly. He points his gun to Gaheun,
"This wasn't how it was supposed to end, but who cares, my plan with Minkyung worked, this should too." No, don't. Gaheun turns her head down to the side, cringing, waiting for the bullet to strike. My father pulls the trigger.
"No!-" I jump up. Exhaling deeply, sweat forming on my forehead. What the hell was that? I look to the bed, and sigh in relief to see Gaheun was still there, safe with Donghae. I sit back down on the nook, and rest the back of my head on the wall.
"... You okay?" Donghae says, I almost jump again. I look over to him; he was just staring up ahead at the ceiling. I exhale again before I answer.
"Yeah."
"Doesn't sound like it." He answers, emotionless.
"Just a weird dream. No big deal."
"Oh. Okay then. But, we should go soon." What? He wants to go already?
"Gaheun's been shifting around a lot; she might be waking up soon. Better to leave before that happens." I forgot. He doesn’t know that she woke up earlier… I wonder if she’s awake now…
"Well Kim Bum should be here any minute." I check my watch. Yep, very soon.
Just as he says that, the front door opens. I get up,
"Let's go." I tell Donghae, "I'll go outside first. Take ten minutes the most." and I leave, trying to clear my mind.
Donghae's POV:
Slowly and carefully, I manage to get up without waking Gaheun up. I pull the blanket over her shoulders and smooth out her hair. So this is really it, huh? I lean down to her head and take a deep breath of the scent again, letting it reach every cell of my body. I breathe out, and then move a little to kiss her forehead. Even though she probably can't hear me, I feel like I should do this at least one more time. I put my lips to her ear, and whisper, as quietly as possible,
"I love you. I’ll be seeing you, okay? Always." I put my hand against her jaw gently taking in my last glance, and finally manage to find energy to pull away and leave the house.
