Why? Why Me?
Stupid You,
"Gaheun, what happened over the weekend?" My aunt demands. Oh crap O.O How'd she know? I washed the sofa cushions and everything!
"Errr.... What do you mean Unnie? Nothing happened, I just went shopping..." Yes, I lied. But I wasn't about to tell her a boy stayed overnight, and that he was bleeding and all.
She’s unconvinced though, "Mhmm... Well... What is THIS?!" she pursues, holding something in her hand. … What is that?... Donghae's tank top?!?!? You’ve got to be kidding me. Why is it here?! Didn't he wear it out?!? Why didn’t he wear it out?!?!?
"Uhh... What is that?" I ask, playing dumb.
"I don't suppose this is YOURS?!?!" Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh. Kay. Thinkthinkthinkthinkthink. Oh!
"I...uhh... That’s mine! I must have left it here when I switched into my uniform" I say, grabbing it from her.
"It’s a tank top for men... And why're there rips in it?!" She continues to question.
"Well, sometimes I wear men's clothes because they're more comfortable, and… uh… I wear that tank top over another shirt. I like the ripped look sometimes, but of course I cover my skin! Calm down unnie, it’s just my fashion style." (Not completely a lie, I do enjoy that look from time to time). She relaxes a bit, but you can tell she still isn’t completely convinced. Suddenly, her eyes dart to behind me; I turn, and see Donghae. Crapcrapcrapcrap. Why? Why now?! Is my luck really this bad?!
"Oh! Sorry! How can I help you?" I ask Donghae, hoping he’ll get that I’m trying to pretend I don’t know him; but he just looks at me with a confused face. Yejin looks at him for a while, and then slowly creeps back towards the kitchen,
"Young man, the cafe isn’t open for another half hour... But I suppose you could just order now." She says gently, and disappears into the kitchen.
He walks a little closer to the counter and says, "I just wanted to-"
"Order a large MOCHA CAFFE LATTE?!" I say, interrupting him and really projecting my voice so Yejin can’t hear him properly. Donghae gives me yet another weird look, so I whisper,
"I don't want her to know why happened last night, so go!"
"But nothing even happened last-"
"ONE CREAM, EXTRA FOAM, AND NO SPRINKLES?!" I shout, enunciating again. He just shakes his head and chuckles. Hey, he actually laughed.
"AND I'D LIKE IT TO GO PLEASE!" he adds, smiling crookedly. Woah, that was unexpectedly… attractive. I can’t help but smile back. He grabs the pen and notepad from the countertop, and begins to write something. The foam machine turns on,
"Hey, what're you doing? Regular customers don't write on those! And you owe me nothing! I already accepted your thanks, you can leave!” I almost hiss, resisting the urge to slap him.
“But I'm not a regular customer, “ he replies matter-of-factly, slightly smirking and not looking up from the notepad. I sigh, wow, what a guy. ‘ I’m not a regular customer' What a snarky reply. *ding!* I turn to see Yejin unnie, her eyes darting at him, while putting to drink on the ledge.
I just smile at her and say, "He paid already, someone just called him a second ago and he needed to borrow the pen and paper"
"Mmm... Okay." Is all I get for an answer. Yejin unnie kills me; she's probably thinking something really crazy right now. Something like, 'is he writing her a love note!?' or 'he must be writing down her number!’ She leaves the open window and again disappears into the kitchen.
I turn to see him standing, smiling as if he’s waiting for his prank to happen. What is he up to? I pass the drink to him, and he hands me the piece of paper along with his money, saying,
"This is for you, " and leaves. He stands by the door outside though, looking at the sign. Weirdo. Five minutes till opening. Curious, I open the folded note.
Picking you up when you're off/closing the cafe, can’t run away, I want my shirt back.

Wow. Wait a sec... Pick me u- *ding-ding!*
"Hello! Take a seat wherever you like and I'll be right there with your menus" (sorry, it's become a reflex reaction). I shove the paper into my pocket and quickly get to work. As weird as this sounds, I hope work never ends.
