L.A. Pt. 2

Into the New World

After another round on Tiffany’s bed we moved in to the shower where we played a bit more, in hopes to make up for all the times we didn’t get to these past months, and then of course we actually did wash off for we were both pretty sweaty from our previous…uh, exercises.

I stepped out first and welcomed her with a towel, taking in her beauty one last time before making sure she wrapped up completely. I then grabbed one for myself.

Thankfully their bathroom was right across the hall from Tiffany’s room, so it wasn’t long before we were back in familiar territory. That’s what I would call it anyway. Her bright pink room was a new addition to the list of my favorite places ever after this morning.

After stepping inside I quickly went to my bag to find at least a pair of fresh underwear. I was having a hard time keeping this towel on. I really don’t know how girls got them to stay so nicely. It was pretty impress-

“Tae.” I turned quickly to see Tiffany already lying on the bed. Omo. If she wanted to go again I really didn’t think I had it in me. “Come here, I’m sleepy.” She must have read my mind. I smiled and stood up, but then quickly remembering what I was looking for once the towel almost dropped off of me.

“Can I put clothes on first?” I saw her bite down on her bottom lip as she shook her head ‘no’ in the shyest way possible. “Arasso,” I said as I smiled and made my way back to her bed. Stopping before I sat down, I pulled the covers right from under her still toweled body. “At least let me cover us up, your room is really cold Fany-ah.”

I laid down and pulled the covers up around us just before she molded her perfect body against mine once more. Her head on my chest, hand on my abs, and our legs intertwined. This was perfect, this was how it was supposed to be.

“Mmm,” I hummed. “Do you have any idea how wonderful it is to close my eyes, and feel you this close?” I squeezed her in tighter. I heard her hum in agreement.

“I do know Tae, I love it. Now go to sleep. I’m worn out.” Now that she brought it up, my eyelids were heavier than usual.

“Okay, okay,” I said as I leaned down to kiss the top of her head once more.

What seemed like a few minutes later I was beginning to feel myself return to consciousness as I stretched my arms out. “Ughh,” I groaned. Gah how long had I been asleep? I could see the sun shining brightly through the blinds now. Wait a minute… Where was Tiffany? Jesus, and what was that annoying ringing? Omo! I quickly reached for my phone that was laying on the side table.

“Ye-Yeboseyo,” I groggily answered. Who would even be calling at this hour- Oh, never mind. It was only what, like 1pm here? Man these time zones were really tripping me up.

“Uh, hello?” What the hell? Why would anyone be talking to me in English?

“Who is this?”

“Uncle it’s me, Kristine. Why are you talking in Korean all of a sudden,” is what I think she said at least. She then went on to say a whole onslaught of English words very quickly. The only ones I managed to pick up on were ‘internet, airport, and Girls’ Generation’, which was what SNSD translated to here in America I guess. I pulled the phone away from my ear and my eyes almost popped out of my head.

This wasn’t my phone. This was Tiffany’s father’s phone. Oh my god. “Uhm,” I started. Oh god what do I even say? “One second ok?”

I quickly got up from her bed and made a break for her door. “.” I totally forgot I was almost completely . I pulled the phone back to my ear. “He call you back. Bye,” I said as I hit end.

I rushed to find an outfit and swiftly put in on. Finally stepping out of her room I knocked on the door across the hall but there was no response. Hmm, maybe she’s in the kitchen? I was pretty hungry too now that I think about it. Making my way downstairs I literately almost fell down the last few in shock.

Not only did I hear Tiffany’s voice, but her father was home too. Oh crap, and I just had my way with his daughter in his own home… multiple times. I couldn’t dare to look him in the eye now. Oh no. I thought I’d at least have time to prepare myself for this. I took another step…on to a creaky stair, of course. I swear it was so loud the whole street probably heard, or that might have been all in my brain. There was no going back though. I took a deep breath and marched forward.

Finding them in the kitchen, I quickly bowed once I made eye contact with her father. The English he was speaking quickly turned in to Korean.

“There’s no need to do that here Taeyeon-ah,” her father said.

“Tae,” Tiffany called as she finally turned to see me. “Sorry I didn’t wake you up.” My eyes grew wide as my heart started pounding faster.

“Ani, it’s fine,” I said quietly.

“You know, earlier when she introduced you, I misheard her and didn’t catch the boyfriend part.” I stiffened. Oh god. “If I would have known that I wouldn’t have left you two alone so easily.” Here it came.

“I…I’m…” I stuttered.

“Daddy, please,” Tiffany whined in English. Her father then started laughing. What? What in the hell was going on?

“I’m only kidding. Loosen up son,” he said as he gave my arm a pat. Seriously? Americans were so weird. Jeesh, I almost had a heart attack over here and there he is laughing. “Do you all have plans tonight? I called your brother and sister and they can’t come in today, but they’ll be here tomorrow. The same with your aunts and uncles.”

Tiffany looked at me and smiled. “No, but I’m sure we can find something to do.” Oh good lord Fany. Make it more obvious why don’t you. The phone in my hand suddenly started ringing again.

“Oh,” I said loudly. “Someone named Kueristine called and I answered because I thought it was my phone. I’m sorry. It looks like she’s calling again anyway,” I said as I handed it in her father’s direction.

“Kristine?” Tiffany grabbed the phone from my hand and quickly answered. “Hello? Kristine? Ahh! It’s me Tiffany!” She screamed again, earning a scold from her father, who told her to go to the other room. I gulped and mentally called for her not to leave, but apparently this Kristine character was more important than me at the moment. Soon it was just her father and I.

I stood silently with my hands together, praying that she would return soon, but I was let down severely when her father began speaking.

Oh god here it was. The talk.

“I never thought this day would come so soon you know. My Stephanie not needing me anymore,” he started. I had to stop him right there though.

“Aniyo sir, your daughter loves you very much. She’ll always need you.”

“Not as much as she’ll need you. I was never that great of a father to her anyway. I was against her dreams and I was closed off to her, yet she still loved me unconditionally. That’s my daughter though. She is just like her mother, which is probably why I shut her out like I did,” he explained. Although it hurt me a little to hear this, I needed to. I needed to hear what my Tiffany has been though so I can love her even harder.

I suddenly understood the weirdness of this morning though. At least I wasn’t just imagining it.

“She’s told me all about you though. Ever since I accidently woke her up when I walked in on you two… you know, she hasn’t said one bad thing about you.” I felt myself turn red from head to toe. Oh my god. I could only thank some sort of higher power that he didn’t come home just an hour or so earlier to actually catch us in the act.

“It brings me a lot of comfort knowing that she’s in good hands while she’s over there,” he said as he put a hand on my shoulder. “Please take good care of her.” I nodded. I wasn’t sure if I could talk right now for my embarrassment has completely taken over. I tried my hardest to stutter something out.

“N-ne. I will sir. I love your daughter very much.” I couldn’t look him straight in the face yet, but I hoped he caught on to my sincerity.

“I know you do. That’s why I’d also like to ask for you to call me Abonim.”

“Jinjja?” I looked directly at him now. He nodded.

“If you love my daughter as much as you say, and she has already told me all about her love for you, I’d say it was only a matter of time before it became a true term. Am I right?”

My eyes widened. Was he seriously giving me permission to marry his daughter right now? Of course I’ve thought about it, I actually think about it often, but to hear it being said aloud was a whole new story. I’ve never even seriously discussed it with Fany. I heard him start laughing. Jesus, what was with this guy and laughing at me? Well I guess I know where Tiffany got her ability to always laugh at me from. I smiled at the thought of her.

“I’m not saying to go and get married today Taeyeon-ah. All I’m saying is that, when you feel the time is right, you have my permission. If Stephanie loves you, I’m sure I will be able to love you as well.” If anyone happened to check my pulse right now, they would think I just run a marathon or something. “Plus, it will save you the trip of coming all the way back here to ask me again,” he chuckled as he went to the fridge

I repeat. Americans are so weird. I knew he was Korean, obviously, but living here so long he must have adapted. He was so calm about this whole situation, while I was over here literately drowning.

“Want anything to eat?”

“Taeyeon!” I turned to the door to see Tiffany staring at me with a smile, which quickly turned in to a frown. “Daddy, what did you say to him? I can’t leave you alone for five minutes, oh my gosh,” she mumbled as she came to my side. “Are you okay?” I nodded.

“I’m fine. What got you all excited Fany?”

“Right! Kristine, my cousin, saw that we had left Korea and she called to see if we were here and long story short she invited me to go out with her later!”

“What about me?” I surely wasn’t being left here with her dad right?

“I forgot to mention you, but I’m sure she won’t mind Tae. I’ll text her and tell her right now that my friend is coming.” She hit a few buttons on her dad’s phone before handing it back to him. “Thanks daddy. Let’s go get ready Tae, she’ll be here in a half an hour.”

My heart stopped again. Not only was I meeting her favorite cousin, I was also going to be finally submerged in to the land of English speakers.

“Do you really think this is okay,” I asked about twenty minutes later looking at myself in the mirror.

“Why not Tae? We look cute.”

“I guess, but what it someone recognizes us? Won’t this be a little obvious?” I looked at my black and white plaid shirt and black pants.

“Uh, but Taeyeon,” she whined. “I’ve always wanted to wear matching outfits with you and then go somewhere to show you off.” I grinned and then turned my attention to her. She wore nothing but black and white too.

“If it’s anyone that’s gonna get shown off it’s you Fany-ah. What did I say about wearing short shorts in public,” I asked as I came up behind her and gave her a quick squeeze. After this morning, I was no longer hesitant in touching her. She was mine, just as I was hers and we made that very clear to each other earlier.

“Ah! Tae! That’s not fair,” she giggled.

“If you’re going to dress like this then it’s totally fair.”

“Whatever, you know you like it,” she grinned. I pulled her in for a back hug.

“Of course I d-“

HONK

I immediately dropped my arms away from her, I’m not even sure why. I guess it was my automatic response to any loud noise when I was around her. Living in fear of being caught for the past almost year has really done it’s toll.

Oh my god. I froze. We’ve been together for almost a year. I almost said something, but then Tiffany interrupted my thoughts.

“Wah~ she’s here. Let’s go.” She headed to the door with her purse in hand. She stopped. “Do you have your wallet?”  I nodded. “Sunglasses and cellphone?”

“Yes, and yes manager Hwang,” I teased. I definitely saw why the other girls called her that now.

“I’m just making sure you have everything. I don’t think we’ll be back until tonight.” I grabbed her hand as I smiled.

“I have everything I need. Let’s go.”

We said goodbye to her father and then made our way out the door. The sun was bright up in the sky now, way different from this morning when we arrived. Ugh, maybe these black pants were a bad idea, it was a little warm, jeesh and way too bright. I fumbled around in my bag for my sunglasses as I continued walking. Not noticing we had already made it to the car, I looked up only to be greeted with the stares of two girls from the front seat. “Omo.”

Tiffany opened the back door of the red SUV and we were met with two more sets of eyes. Well this wasn’t awkward at all.

“Get in Tiff, I’m double parked and another cars coming,” the girl in the driver seat called. I’m assuming that was her cousin. I almost asked what in the world double parking even meant, but I was then being pulled in to the car behind Tiffany.

“Holy cow, she is gorgeous Kris,” I heard one of the girls say causing me to smile. Of course she is, she’s Tiffany Hwang, I wanted to say. I wrapped my hand around hers.

The girl in the passenger seat then said something along the lines of me being cute as well, but she thought I was a girl? That was really rude. I don’t think I look like a girl at all. Tiffany’s grip on my hand tightened; she must have thought It was rude too. Jeesh, and I thought Americans were nice.

“Fany,” I whispered. She leaned in to me. “Why did she think I’m a girl?” She looked at me with a puzzled expression. “What? Didn’t she say that I looked like a girl?”

Tiffany bust out in to laughter as the rest of the car became silent. “Oh sorry,” she said in English. “Tae, she said that she thought another girl was coming, but you came instead, and that you’re cute,” she turned to explain to me. Turning back to her cousin, I think she explained the mistake that I just made, for everyone started laughing and saying the word cute.

“Everyone this is my cousin Tiffany she speaks English, don’t worry. I’m not really sure who he is though,” the same girl spoke once we were all settled down. Good. So far I was able to keep up with the conversation. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to respond, but at least I knew what they were saying.

“Right, Kristine. This is my boyfriend Taeye-

“Oh my god, he’s TYS,” the girl from beside Tiffany interrupted. “You’re Kim Taeyeon right?” My eyes widened and I looked at Tiffany with a smile. She nodded.

“Uh, yes,” I answered. “You know me?”

“Of course I know you,” the girl exclaimed. “I love k-pop. Oh my god,” she said followed by something I couldn’t make out.

“What did she say?” Oh crap, the car went silent again.

“She said that she knew that we were dating.” My eyes doubled in size again.

“Jinjja,” I leaned forward and asked the obviously America girl. “I mean, uh. Uhm. Help,” I called weakly in English in Tiffany’s direction causing everyone to laugh again.

“Oh my god Tiff, he’s so cute!”

“I know. He’s the best, but he wanted to know if you really knew about us,” she asked the girl. I could only nod. Somehow I could understand almost every word Tiffany said, but when someone else spoke it was like in a whole different language. “She said, yeah that there are hundreds of blogs out there dedicated to us and that they always try to catch our moments on TV shows and programs,” she quickly translated.

“Jinjja?” Tiffany nodded. “Wow, daebak,” I marveled, earning another round of laughter. Another worry came to mind as I quickly tried to find the English words to express my thoughts. “You, no tell anyone about us. O-K?”

“Of course,” the girl exclaimed. “Getting to meet Girls’ Generation and TYS is amazing enough.” We drove a bit more before her cousin spoke again.

“Where do you want to go first Tiff?”

“Where do you want to go first Taetae,” she said in Korean as she turned to me.

“I’m so hungry,” I said as I grabbed my tummy. I hadn’t eaten since I was on the plane.

“Ah, I know what that means,” her cousin said from the front. “Food it is.”

Soon we were walking in to a busy looking restaurant. I kid you not when I say that almost every head turned when we walked in. I’m sure Tiffany was a big part of all the neck breaking, but her cousin and cousins friends were all pretty attractive as well, obviously no match to Tiffany though.

“H-how many,” the male server asked shakily. Thankfully Tiffany wasn’t leading the pack or the younger kid would have probably passed out.

“Wh-what would you like to drink?” The younger boy asked. I quickly responded and then turned to Taeyeon.

“Tae, what do you want to drink? Tae?”

“Hm? Oh, water is fine.” I quickly repeated it back in English before I looked back at him.

“What’s wrong Taetae?”

“Nothing,” he announced before sitting up straight and grabbing a menu. I could only laugh at the expression that followed too, for I knew he wasn’t able to read English in the slightest.

“Want me to help?” He nodded. I scooted closer to him and pointed out a few of the things he might actually enjoy.

“I want this,” he said as he pointed to a cheeseburger.

“Are you sure?” He nodded with a smile. “Alright, you better eat it. It’s gonna taste different than the ones in Korea.

“That’s okay. Americans love them, so I want to try it too,” he grinned.

“You’re a dork you know that right,” I asked as I got my face closer to his. He nodded again. “Come here,” I said as I brought my hand to his face and pulled him in for a kiss. I was planning on keeping it quick but it fell even shorter when I heard a gasp from across the table. My eyes shot to the girl across from me.

“Sorry,” she said. “It’s just that I watch you two online all the time and now you’re both here and oh my god.” I laughed. I laughed even harder when the other two girls were staring at us as well.

I caught the one’s eye and smiled. “Oh sorry, you two were just being so adorable. I didn’t understand any of it, but it was so cute.” I felt myself blushing.

“Thank you. So you really are a fan,” I asked turning back to the girl across from me. She nodded. “Well thank you very much, but right now please try to treat us normally. We don’t want to draw any more attention to ourselves.”

“Yeah, I understand. I’m really sorry.”

The waiter soon came and asked for our orders. I ordered Taeyeon’s along with mine.

“So Tiff, how long have you two been dating,” my cousin asked. I took Taeyeon’s hand in mine and thought about it for a second.

“Almost a year? Oh my god. Almost a year.”

“Wow,” Kristine said cheerfully. “Are s as cute as he is?”

“Also are they single,” another one of her friends added. I laughed.

“Nope. Taeyeon’s the cutest one, but they are single.” I don’t for how much longer though, I said in my head.

“Ah! Do you have a picture?”

“Probably.” I turned to Taeyeon, who was staring back at me with wide eyes. ! We have been totally leaving him out of the conversation. “Tae, do you have a picture of you and your members?”

“Uhm maybe? Let me check.”

“Don’t worry Tiff, I’m looking them up right now,” my cousin said as she was looking at her phone. “Ooh! In this one they’re shirtless!”

“Yah! Give me that,” I called as I reached for the phone, but I was too slow. She moved out of my reach.

“Oh no, this one is definitely cuter, no offense,” she remarked.

“Tall or short,” I asked. She replied just how I thought she would too. “That’s Yuri. He won’t be here until next week.”

“I still think Taeyeon is the most attractive one,” the girl sitting across from me said. I was really going to have to hurt this girl. Quit fan-girling over my boyfriend right in front of me. Ugh, I mentally screamed before I put a smile on my face.

“Me too.” I quickly planted another kiss on his lips, this time making sure she saw. I know it was a childish thing to do, but he was mine!

A few minutes later the food arrived, and boy I was hungry. After all the activities this morning I really should have ate something. I picked up my food, but before I could take a bit Taeyeon stopped me.

“Fany-ah, wh-what is that?” His look was something between curiosity and disgust. I giggled.

“It’s an Italian sausage in a bun with toppings and sauce,” I explained.

“Oh,” his expression changed. “Is it good?” I grinned.

“I don’t know yet pabo, I haven’t taken a bite. Do you want the first one?” He nodded eagerly, obviously enticed by the American appeal. “Ahh,” I voiced as I moved it to his mouth. He took a bite and chewed it slowly. “Is it good?” I took a bite myself. Mmm, it sure did taste good to me.

I looked back to Taeyeon who was now energetically drinking his water. He set it down and started fanning his mouth. “Spicy.” He coughed.

“Omo, Tae!” I started patting his back. “I forgot to mention that didn’t I?” He nodded.

After a while we all finished our meal. Taeyeon ate all of his burger and ended up saying that he now knew why America had a problem with weight and that he could eat those every day for the rest of his life. Which I for sure was not allowing, I loved the feel of his abs way too much.

It was a quick walk to the counter to pay for our food, where Taeyeon coolly took care of the bill definitely impressing my cousin and her friends. I grabbed his hand once we exited the restaurant.

“You didn’t have to do that, they were my guests.”

“Yeah, but I wanted to. And since they took credit cards here, I could make up for you getting the taxi yesterday, er, well earlier,” he grinned. I shook my head as he opened the car’s door for me.

“Whatever you say. Where are we going now,” I asked as I switched back to English.

“Well, we originally were going to go to this carnival, but if you two don’t want to we can find something else,” she said. I smiled at her concern.

“Hold on. Tae, do you want to go to a carnival,” I said switching back to Korean. He looked at me like he was confused. Hmm I did use Korean right? “You know like a festival kind of thing.”

“Yah, I know what a carnival is pabo. I was thinking.” I laughed at his cute pout. “Sure. I just hope people won’t recognize us.”

“Ani, there are going to be a lot of people there, so don’t worry. We won’t even be noticed. We’re in,” I said turning back to my cousin. She cheered a little.

“Mom and dad are working in a booth there for our church too, you can say hi!”

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

She wasn’t kidding when she said there would be a lot of people. Holy crap. There were literately people everywhere.

We eventually found a parking spot after around ten minutes of searching. I was still kinda shocked that this girl was driving so well. She couldn’t have been that old. Crap, now I was curious.

“Fany. Tiffany.” She hummed. “How old is your cousin?” She shot me an evil glare. Oh god, she totally mistook that. Before I could even correct myself she attacked.

“Yah! Why are you asking about her?” I quickly tightened my grip on her hand and pulled her closer to me.

“I’m just asking because she drives really well and it surprised me because she doesn’t look that old.”

“Ohh. Sorry,” she looked away. “In America you can start driving at 16. So she’s been doing it a bit longer.”

“Ahh, that makes sense then. Goodness Fany-ah, don’t be like that. You know you’re the one for me.”

“Whatever,” she pouted. “Just don’t let go of my hand. We can’t get separated.” I nodded.

“Come on,” her cousin shouted at us. “It’s this way.” Huh?

“What’s that way?”

“My aunt and uncle are working in a booth here.” My eyes grew. Finally someone other than Tiffany I could talk to!

Don’t get me wrong, I could talk to her all day every day, it’s just that I felt like I was holding her back. She wasn’t talking that much with her cousin because I think she felt bad I couldn’t really keep up. Maybe this would give her a break.

Oh my god, I know I just ate, but literately everything here smelled so good. I wasn’t even sure what most of it was, but I felt like I needed it. There was something called an ‘Elephant Ear’ that really caught my eye. It was twice as big as my face and covered in cinnamon sugar and I wanted three. I tugged on Tiffany’s hand.

“Fany-ah can we get one of those?” She looked and smiled.

“Yeah, but let’s go meet my family first. I think they’re expecting us.”

“Oka-ah!” I almost tripped. I looked down and saw that my stupid shoe had become untied. Ugh. “Hold on a second.” I stopped in my tracks and bent down to tie my shoe. Double knotting the laces this time. “Okay let’s go,” I announced as I stood back up.

Oh no. She wasn’t around, but many, many other people were. Where did she go? She wouldn’t have left me would she? No, she’s the one that told me to stay close. Oh god.

Panic started to overcome me. I had no way of finding her, no way to even start looking for her, for my phone was in her purse because I didn’t want to carry it or my backpack around anymore. I hit my head. Aish, you pabo! It didn’t help that I had the English capabilities of a kindergartener. My breaths became shorter. No Taeyeon. You’ll be fine! You’re Kim Taeyeon, the leader of TYS! You’ve been on a stage in front of sixty thousand people. This is nothing, you can totally do this, I talked myself up.

Right. I started to walk in the direction we were originally heading. Oh my god! My lucky day! I saw two what seemed to be Korean women walking in my direction.

“Excuse me, do you speak Ko-.” I was cut off by the taller one waving her hands in the air. Awesome. I continued straight ahead walking slowly trying to scan the crowd the best I could. Jesus, why are Americans so freaking tall too? There were even a good amount of ladies that were the same height as me. Gah, maybe I should spend a summer here, I laughed to myself. I might grow a few inc-

“Taeyeon!”

“Oomf.” I was almost knocked over by the force of which she came at me, but once I realized what had just happened I wrapped my arms tightly around her. “Fany-ah,” I breathed.

“Yah, why’d you stop?” She moved out of my arms and pushed me back a little. I could now see that she had been crying. Omo. I quickly moved my hands to her face, using my thumbs to wipe away the water trails.

“Babe, I said to hold on a second. My shoe came untied. I’m-I’m sorry. I thought you heard me.” I felt so bad now. I really didn’t expect her to cry.

“I’m sorry too. I should have kept you closer.” She pulled me in tight again. Even though we were only separated for a little over ten minutes, it was the longest ten minutes of my life. I felt so alone, so stranded. I’m glad she found me.

We had finally arrived hand in hand at a small booth not but five minutes later. Tiffany quickly left my side and hugged the older man and woman.

“Tae, come here,” she motioned for me. “Auntie, Uncle, I’d like you to meet my boyfriend Kim Taeyeon. Taeyeon this is my dad’s brother and his wife.” I full ninety degree bowed.

“Annyeonghaseyo. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Ooh, Korean eh,” the man questioned as I nodded in return. “What part are you from?”

“Jeonju, sir.”

“Ohh, I know Jeonju!” I could only smile. Man, this was awkward, and I thought it would be better since I could talk to them. Yikes.

“He’s very handsome Tiffany,” her aunt commented making me blush. To make it worse Tiffany wrapped her arms around me.

“I know.” I had to look away now. Oh man this was embarrassing.

“His face looks familiar though. Do you live around here?” Her cousin busted out laughing at that one, along with Tiffany.

“Daddy, he’s an idol just like Tiff.” The man looked somewhat surprised as his hand clamped down on my shoulder. “I’ll show you his music when we get home.”

“Is that right?”

“Yes, sir. I’m the leader of a group called TYS.”

“Ahh, then that’s where I must have seen him.”

We spent a little more time with her relatives here before they said their temporary good byes. Apparently they were all coming over for a cook out tomorrow at Tiffany’s house. Tiffany and I, along with Kristine and her friends then continued walking around the carnival.

The next hour or so flew by. I didn’t even realize it had become dark until Tiffany pointed it out. I was too busy taking in all the sights this place had to offer. It was all very interesting to me. Just then I saw another food cart that read ‘Elephant Ear.’ I stopped and made sure Tiffany stopped too.

“Fany, I need one of those.” She smiled at me and then told her cousin what was going on. Soon we were in line behind another couple, who definitely weren’t as cute as us. As we neared the counter Tiffany dropped my hand and reached for her wallet. Aish, mental note; bring freaking money next time!

“Well hello there,” we were greeted by the guy working inside, or I should say she was greeted. I don’t think he even noticed my existence.

“Hi,” she cheerily responded. “I need one elephant ear please.” The guy then said something else I didn’t catch, or I might have just been too focused on how he kept trying to look down my girlfriend’s shirt. “Tae, do you want chocolate syrup on it too or just the sugar?” I broke my glare and looked back at her.

“Uhm, I don’t care. Whatever you want,” I smiled. Either sounded fine with me.

“But Tae,” she started.

“Ani! Pick whatever you want. I don’t mind either way.”

“Arasso. With chocolate,” she told the guy inside who was now staring with his mouth wide open.

“That was so cool. What language was that,” he asked.

“Korean,” she said as she handed over the money, which was very plain I thought in comparison to the money we use in Korea.

“Oh nice,” he complimented. His next words made me want to jump straight over this counter. I wasn’t sure exactly what he said, but I definitely heard the words ‘little brother.’  Tiffany looked quickly at me and then back to the guy inside.

“Uh no. He’s my boyfriend, thanks,” she added as she took the food from his hands and quickly pulled me to the side where there were a few tables.

Gah that guy is so lucky I’m bad at English or I would have given him a piece of my mind. I don’t look younger than Tiffany! We don’t look alike either. Ughhh!

“Tae, don’t worry about what that guy said.”

“That’s easy for you to say,” I snapped back as I took a seat at the nearest table.

“Taeyeon, he was trying, and failing miserably, to hit on me. That’s why he said that.” Does that jerk just think he can hit on any girl he pleases? Is that how American guys were? “Tae, look at me,” she said as she sat on my lap.

I hummed and looked her in the eyes.

“You should know by now that I only want you.” I looked away and suddenly felt butterflies in my stomach. “Yah, I said to look at me.” Feeling a hundred times happier now after her words, I quickly brought my face right in front of hers, opening my eyes as wide as I could. “Yah,” she shouted before she started laughing.

I mean I had no reason to be mad at Tiffany, she didn’t encourage him at all. I was just mad at the idiot who sold us the-

“Fany-ah where is the food?” She didn’t have it in her hands. Omo. Wait, why was I getting so worked up over food? Did I switch minds with Soo momentarily?

“Right behind you,” she said as she reached, unintentionally shoving her cleavage almost right in my face. Sitting back down on my lap, food in hand she spoke. “Say ah.”

I obeyed and took the piece she fed me. Oh my god was it delicious. My eyes doubled in size as I quickly swallowed and opened my mouth for another piece.

“You totally love it,” she accused.

“Mhm,” I hummed with my mouth full again. “We’re gonna have to get three more. From another vendor,” I quickly added causing her to grin.

“We’ll see babe. My legs hurt,” she pouted. Oh no!

“Why? Where? Do you want me to go buy you Tylenol?”

“Ani, it’s fine.” She started laughing. “And babe, you couldn’t just go buy me Tylenol.” Her hands cupped my face. “Your English is bad.” I frowned. Damnit! The one day when I can actually do real boyfriend things, is the day were stuck in a land of foreigners. Well I guess I’m the foreigner, but still. “Don’t worry, we’ll work on it.” She gave me a quick peck on the lips.

“Ahha! I can massage them. Where does it hurt? Here,” I asked as I put my hand on her calf muscle.

 “Ani-.”

“Here,” I asked as I moved to just above her knee.

“No Taeyeon. Not right now…just, maybe later,” she shyly said. What the heck? I could do it right here and solve the problem. It wouldn’t be that weird right?

“Babe tell me where!” She shook her head and took another bite. “Fine.” Two could play the ‘be a brat’ game. I folded my arms across my chest and leaned back.

“Ugh Tae~,” she whined. “It’s too…it’s too high up for you to massage me in public,” she shyly half whispered.

“Tiffany. Literately no one even understand you besides me.” I really think she forgets she’s speaking Korean sometimes. “How did you hurt yourself there?” She gave me a look and spoke.

“There you guys are.” That wasn’t her voice. I turned to see her cousin walking toward us with a few more friends than last time. Some were guys too. I instinctively wrapped my arms around the girl in my lap tighter. “A few more of my friends wanted to meet you before we walked up the street to get Jamba Juice.”

I cocked my head to the side. No I definitely heard her say jamba. What the hell is a jamba?

“Oh my god. We’ll totally go with you. I haven’t had that in years.”

“Oh awesome! Let’s go then,” the cousin called.

Tiffany stood up and pulled me along with her. Making sure to grab the Elephant ear that we had yet to finish an idea popped in to my head. I quickly stopped the girl in front of me.

“Fany, get on my back.”

“What?”

“You said your legs hurt, so let me carry you.”

“But Tae, I think it’s a long walk.” Oh goodness.

“I don’t care, I’m a strong boy. Get on. Please~,” I whined. She sighed. Mwahah! I won.

“Fine, but if I start getting heavy you have to put me down.” I nodded excitedly as I bent down so she could hop on. This totally made up for me not being able to buy Tylenol.

As I quickened my pace to catch up with the group only one question remained. What the hell is a Jamba Juice?

A few minutes later I was still on Taeyeon’s back skillfully trying to feed him the remaining bits of the pastry we previously bought. He had been carrying me for at least ten minutes when the guilt finally took over.

“Taeyeon, put me down. I can walk the rest of the way.”

“Aniyo~ I’m gonna carry you the whole way.” I groaned aloud at his stubbornness, but thankfully we were there within the next few minutes. Although I didn’t mind the looks we got from strangers and the group we were with from him carrying me, I just didn’t want him to be all tired because of me.

Before we walked in I hopped off his back and gave his a little pat, earning a cute grin from the latter. We all moved closer to get a better look at the menu, but I had to quickly excuse myself.

“Hey, I’ll be right back,” I said to my cousin in English. I then turned to Tae. “I’m going to the bathroom, order me something okay?”

Once I reached the restroom though, I realized how stupid of a request that was of me to make. Ugh Tiff come on! After taking care of what I needed to do I stepped back in to the main area of the business. Just in time too, Taeyeon was up at the counter ordering. I started to quickly make my way to his side, but then stopped with a wicked grin on my face. It would be fun to watch him suffer through this. I bit my lip and took a few steps closer to my cousin who had already received her order.

“This should be fun,” I said quietly as I nodded toward Tae. She looked at me and smiled.

“I thought steam was going to start coming out of his ears he was trying so hard to read the menu,” she teased. I smiled. He really was trying hard for me. My stomach flipped as my body began to feel warm.

“Oh shh, here he goes.” The girl behind the counter asked for his order, a little too friendly if you ask me, but I shrugged it off.

“Yes, uh chokolat smoothie one and strawberry smoothie one.” I giggled at his pronunciation, that wasn’t too off, just super cute, but then I realized the employee doing the same thing. Don’t laugh at my Taeyeon you little-

“We have two different selections of strawberry smoothies, which one did you want?” He looked at her with wide eyes. Alright, I should probably cut in so- I heard laughter? He was laughing?

“I’m sorrly. I from Korea, uh, my English is… no good. Jus pick one,” he embarrassedly smiled. The girl laughed as I could see her start to blush. Taeyeon damnit! Quit smiling at girls like that. Yep. It was totally time for me to cut in.

I really don’t think he knew how deadly his smile was. I know he always says how mine is killer and blah, blah, but one smile from Taeyeon and I was instantly even more in love with him than before, and I was used to it. I couldn’t even imagine seeing Taeyeon for the first time again. It was probably his stupid little smile that got me so hooked in the first place.

I moved from behind my cousin and started walking toward him. He had just handed over his credit card when I finally made it to his side. Wrapping my arms around his waist I pulled him in tight. He put an arm around me just as the blonde behind the counter looked up. Her face had obvious signs of surprise due to my sudden appearance, but I just smiled.

“He-here’s your card back,” she said as she handed it out. I quickly took it from her hand. Yep she was totally in to him, she wouldn’t have been stuttering if not. Aish, this girl.

“Thank you,” I replied with an arrogant tone.

A few minutes later we were all in the outside section of seating.

“Why did you get chocolate? You’re supposed to get fruit,” I said trying to hide my minor jealousy.  He scooted closer to me.

“Well I wanted both, but I didn’t think they could do that, nor did I really know how to ask.” He grinned. “So now I’ll just have to do this.” He then took a drink from his cup and then one from mine. “Tada, chocolate strawberry!”

“Oh my god,” I laughed. “You’re incredible.” Wait… “Why didn’t you just get another cup? We could have split it up like that.” he looked taken back before he grabbed my head.

“You’re so smart! I’ll go get one!”

“Ani!” My hand clamped down on his thigh. He was not going back in here with that girl. “I’ll get it.”

“Why? What’s the matter?”

“Nothing, I’ll just get it.” I stood up, but felt a hand pull me back down, even closer to him this time.

“We don’t need one. This way’s perfectly fine,” he said quietly. “Just stay here.” I saw the solemn look on his face and stayed put. I didn’t want to be apart any more than I had to either, for I knew this would all be over soon. We’d go back to being idols, dating in secret. I sighed and leaned against my Taetae.

“Let’s take a picture for Instagram,” I called out, breaking the warm silence between us.

“Fany-ah, you know we can’t do that.”

“What not? We can just do a regular picture. Not cute or anything,” I added to help strengthen my point. “Ooh! We can even say something about one of our members in the caption so it doesn’t seem like it’s only us!” I looked at Tae, who looked deep in thought. “Well,” I pried after twenty seconds or more.

“Fine. Let’s do it.”

“Wah~!” I cheered and pulled out my phone. “Here you take it since your arms are longer.” He hummed as he took it from my hands. “Remember nothing too cute,” I playfully warned.

“So, nothing like this,” he asked as he kissed my cheek just as I head the cameras shutter make a sound.

“Kim Taeyeon!” He was laughing, but I only felt my face heating up. I could only imagine what the fans would say about that one.

“Okay, okay. I’ll take a serious one. Ready?” I hummed and he counted to three. “There,” he handed the phone back. I wanted to see how I turned out but my eyes were immediately drawn to him.

Seriously, how did he always look so good? Gah, his cute little nose, his perfect jaw line, and oh my goodness his lips. I pulled him in for a quick kiss. “How’d it turn out?”

“You look so good Tae. I’m uploading it right now,” I said as I opened the app. Even though I didn’t look the best in this, I needed everyone to see how good my Taeyeon looked right now.

“Let me see, let me see,” he whined.

“Hold on. What should the caption be? Something believable,” I added.

“Uhm. Oh! Mention something about Soo eating. Everyone will believe that.”

“Oh good one,” I complimented. Typing the last few letters in to my phone I finally hit the ‘upload’ button. “There. I didn’t even add an effect, I thought it looked good enough already,” I explained handing over the phone.

“LA is great! Sooyoungie, stop eating next time and we’ll include you,” he read aloud. “Wah! It says ten people already liked it!”
