“Shin Woo, you’re here” I said pointedly.

“Yes, so nice to see that you’ve remembered me” He said with a wide smile.

Knowing him better, Shin Woo hides his anger behind his smile and this time it’s no different. He’s clearly angry at me now.

“Ah, mianhe Shin Woo. I’ll formally introduce you to my girl friend” I smiled at him. “Shin Woo, this is Jin Kyung. The girl I had told you about previously.”

Eying her carefully “Ne…I’m glad that you found the girl that caused you so much pain” he said flatly.

*Aish, this guy. Even till how he’s so protective of me* I thought as I gave him a look.

“What” Shin Woo shrugged with his two hands and palms facing upwards at his shoulder level. “I’m just giving her a small piece of my thought” he smiled again "you wouldn’t want to know what other words I have at mind right now."

Hearing a light laughter, we both turned to look at Jin Kyung who was laughing.

“I’m sorry.” She answered, covering in embarrassment. “I’m glad that Jin Young has such a good friend by his side.”

“Phish, whatever. You just really know how to compliment people” Shin Woo answered looking disinterested.

“Yah, Shin Woo –” I wanted to warn him but Jin Young stepped in between Shin Woo and me.

“It’s alright Jin Young. He’s entitled to believe in what he wants. I’m guessing he’s the one that saw you through middle school; he has a right to be angry at me too. I’ll just have to work at proving myself that I’m a worthy enough girlfriend to you” Jin Kyung said.

“You bet you do” Shin Woo said flatly, earning a laugh from her. Walking to the door Shin Woo continued “Come on, it’s time we get back to class. It’s Mrs. Choi’s lesson next.”

*Crap* we both thought on the same line as we rushed out of the classroom with Shin Woo following leisurely behind us.

Jin Kyung was a slave driver. Whenever we were free, she would get me to practice. Drilling the song into my mind to the point that I even dreamt about singing this song in my sleep!

I didn’t doubt her reasons for doing so; every group is given a time slot to record their song in the studio. And one of the judging criteria is the using of equipment to modify the voice.

There were a few kinds of uses; removing errors in pitch, removing background noises, creating non-human sound quality, etc.

If reasons were to achieve a non human like sound quality, it needed to be stated down and the teachers would not mark them down for it.

However if it was editing for tonal values and errors in pitch, the judges would then mark down the team.

I definitely did not want to be mark down for a mistake than can be easily avoided with practice.

“Jin Young, during this period please avoid eating chocolate or drinking coffee, tea, dairy products or orange juice.” Jin Kyung said to me as she packed up her laptop after ending our practice sessions in the garden classroom. Calling it classroom by the garden was a mouthful so we decided to simply call it garden classroom.

“Any reasons?” I answered as I kept away my music scores.

“Ne,chocolate coats the throat, and prevents the vocal folds from meeting properly. This effect interferes with sound, and can cause a coughing spell while trying to speak or sing, which is damaging to you…

Caffeine present in coffee and tea are high enough to dry the vocal cords. And cords that are too dry do not vibrate properly and is at risk to ‘cracking’ and loss of control of pitch…

In 24 hours before the recording or going on stage, dairy and orange juices causes the body to produce excess mucus which collects in your sinuses and throat…it hinders resonance and timbre of the voice, and can hinder sound causing voice to sound raspy or hoarse…”

“Wow…did you study medicine while you were overseas?” I asked amazedly at how she is able to tell me so much off her mind without any references.

“Mwoh? Ani…” She smiled “with the recording day coming up in a week’s time…I just thought it’d be good to know how to take care of your vocal cords…” she pointed out shyly.

“Noona! You’re the best!!!” A very familiar voice came from outside the class.

“Huh? What was that?” I said as I walked over to the source of the voice.

“Yah Gong Chan Shik, what are you doing outside of this classroom?” I ask our maknae as I stood by the door with my arms folded. “Don’t think I don’t know you guys are there in the next classroom Shin Woo, Baro and Sandeul.”

“Busted” Baro said sporting a playful expression that said he was regretful in being caught rather than the fact that he was spying.*Aish, what do I do with these guys.*

“Too bad we got caught, we were hoping for more good advice from Jin Kyung-noona” Sandeul joked.

“Don’t blame these guys, they said that the missed seeing you around” Shin Woo explained.

“Miss seeing me around? I’m still regularly attending music club and I just saw you guys yesterday” I narrowed my eyes at them. “We were even working on O.K.’s lyrics yesterday. So spill it, why are you guys here”

“Aish, we can’t get anything past Hyung” Channie whined.

“It’s alright for you guys to come into the classroom” Jin Kyung piped up as she stood next to me, holding onto my arm to hide her slight nervousness. How do I know? Well I’ve seen her interacting with the guys in the class and it’s the same reaction the first few times she saw them.

 This was only the second time she saw guys and it’ll take a bit more time for her to warm up to them completely…

“Yay!!! Noona’s the best!” Channie suddenly shouted and reached out to hug her. Causing her to freeze and stiffen.

I was alright with Channie hugging her but as seconds kept passing by, I realised what he was doing and quickly pulled him away from Jin Kyung.

“Yah! Channie! What do you think you’re doing?!” I yelled as I held him in a headlock.

“Mehrong” He stuck his tongue out at me, before saying one line that really deserved punishment “Noona’s really curvy Hyung~ I’m envious”

“That’s it Gong Chan” I warned him as I brought my knuckle to his head.

Feeling my hand on his head, our maknae started squirming in my headlock. “Ah!! Let me go hyung! Anything but that!!”

“Too late, you should have thought of that when you hugged her for that long” I answered, rubbing my knuckles on head.

“Ahhh!!! Hyung! Your hands are all bones!!! It hurts!!” He whined as he struggled to get out.

Letting him go after a few more painful rubs, he quickly ran to a corner and nursed his sore head.

Taking a seat next to Jin Kyung “anymore wisdom that you wish to impart to us? Oh wise one” I joked, lightly nudging her with my elbow.

Laughing lightly “I would say avoid spicy food, but being Korean….it’s unavoidable. Instead, please don’t take too spicy food or something that you cannot handle. And….”

She trailed off midway, making all of us curious.

“And?” The guys all said at the same time wanting to her the rest of the sentence.

“I-I’ve been hearing of food eating competitions going on with very attractive prizes. They give out fliers to students heading out of school and some students that have taken part. But with bad endings…

“Why bad endings?” Sandeul asked

“They were tricked into signing something like a contract saying that they would not back out and will eat whatever food that is served….And from what I heard, it revolves around immensely rich or over the top kinds of spicy food at is sure to cause sore throat or vocal implication….

So please guys…if you ever came across such people giving out such fliers, or if they ever ask you to sign a form…please say no…for the sake of your voices….” Jin Kyung’s voice trembled as she reached to hold my hand and as she looked at the guys.

“It shouldn’t be too bad if it’s just a sore throat right?” Baro asked.

“You can say that but the time used to recover from it can never be gained back.” She explained. I saw that she was clenching and unclenching her free hand. “You could have learnt a new vocal technique during that time or solve other breathing or vocal issues that were unresolved. Nothing is worse than having wings and be unable to fly…”

“Jin Kyung…” I called out. She’s definitely thinking about her injury right now.

Keeping her head low, I was worried that she might be crying… Letting go of her hand, I put my arm around her and pulled her to me having her head rest against my shoulder.

The mood turned pensive as we all sat there in silence, they didn’t know the specifics to Jin Kyung’s injury and it wasn’t my place to tell them. Neither could they say anything else because she was right. Time lost couldn’t be gained back and especially when that time could be used to better ourselves.

“Thank you Jin Young” she whispered, lifting her head and pulled away from me. Lightly clearing to gain the rest of their attention “Your future depends on your voices, the only thing that I can say is take good care of it…” she said, giving a small smile.

“Arraso” they all responded back sweetly, even Shin Woo giving a smile himself. I knew it wouldn’t take long for him to warm up to Jin Kyung.

Making our way home before it got too late, we all headed our separate ways. Stopping in front of Jin Kyung’s place, I gave her a long kiss as we stood by the gates. Catching her by surprise.

Wrapping her arms around me, I smiled at her response. It felt good to know that she liked this as much as I do. “J-Jin Young” she stammered as she pulled away, breathing hard for air.

“I’ll see you tomorrow” I smiled, holding her in my arms.

“You’re not going in with me?” Jin Kyung answered looking surprised.

“I’m not, I’m having dinner at home” I smiled sympathetically. “I think my mom prepared food as usual. If she didn’t I’ll text you and crash in on your dinner” I winked at her, earning a laugh from her.

“Ne, I’ll be waiting for your text then” she answered as she opened the gate and walked to the door.

I waited for her to close the front door before walking up the street to my place. “Omma, I’m home” I called out as usual.

“Welcome home Jin Young, I left dinner for you on the table” Omma answered back from the kitchen.

*I won’t be crashing Jin Kyung’s dinner then*I instantly thought as I took out my phone to leave her a text. Saying that I’ll see her in school tomorrow unless she wants to see me again, I seriously can’t resist teasing her in person and over texting. Knowing that her response will be equally cute.

Doing my usual routine of bathing, eating dinner and washing the dishes afterwards I headed back to my bedroom to finish up some homework and get on to the more important stuff.

I had a song in my head for the past few days that I’ve been wanting to pen down. I already sorted out the lyrics but the melody was proving to be an issue. Looking around, the feeling that I had for the song didn’t match with the guitar I had in my room.

It wasn’t before long that my eyes landed on the keyboard that was lying on its side as it was fit in the gap between my cupboard and the study desk.

 Taking it out and cleaning out the dust, I plugged it in and played around with a few keys before I managed to settle with the introduction. I took out music sheets and started writing down the notes as well. Changing and erasing the notes frequently as I fit in the words and tried singing it together, recording it as I plugged the keyboard to my laptop, running a software that would record the notes down as I played. I took out its extension mic and recorded myself as well.

Listening myself on playback made a lot of difference as I heard kinks that I missed out was I played along on the keyboard.

Before I knew it, my alarm clock rang and I realised that I didn’t sleep for a whole night…

*It’s a surprise for Jin Kyung…It’s worth me sacrificing one night of sleep*I smiled to myself as I looked at my half done song before getting up to do my usual morning routine.

Heya there everyone!! :D I've started my internship and after just 2 days, I acutually wish I was back in school...I don't think marketing is my thing >.< I really wonder what am I going to do after I graduate :(

OHHH!!! B1A4 released their full album 'IGNITION' today!!!! :D And the MV is gonna be released at 12pm!!! :D I seriously can't wait!! They all sound soooo good~ I'm going to pre-order it definitely XD

I'm hoping for the two subscribers that I lost to come find me again somehow >_< I hope you enjoy this 27th chapter :)

*Listening to Big Bang's album a few times over, it's slowly growing on me :) My fav is Blue & Fantastic Baby for it's outrageously wild concepts XD...not sure if I'm a VIP but watching them on Running Man got me liking them a lot more :)
