Jin Young’s POV

“Yah! Jin Young! I wasn’t staring at you last night!” Jin Kyung tried to say otherwise as we walked down the stairs.

“Sure you didn’t you were just looking very intensely at me as I dried my hair last night” I gave a knowing smile.

“No I wasn’t” she continued denying

“Yes you were” I teased back.

“Good to see the two of you so energetic in the morning” Mrs. Soo smiled at us from the dining table.

“Good morning Mrs. Soo” ‘Morning Omma” we both greeted as we took our seats.

“It’s his fault that we’re so noisy this morning” Jin Kyung pointed her finger at me.

“And it’s not polite to point at people” I answered back pinching her nose. “Omonah!” she jumped in her chair.

Laughing “He is right Jin Kyung, you shouldn’t carelessly point at people” Getting to her feet “I’ll go get something from the kitchen, you two can start eating without me”

Looking at the spread, Jin Kyung’s Omma prepared some traditional Korean food and some western food. *I guess it’s from staying in another place for that long…*

Coming out with two glasses later, “Jin Kyung your apple juice” she placed the cup in front of her. *I hope she didn’t get me apple juice too…I don’t really like drinking that in the morning…*

“Soy milk for you” Jin Kyung’s Omma placed the cup in front of me. Honestly I was a little surprised that she knew. “I remembered you like drinking this” she smiled.

“Gomawo Mrs. Soo” I smiled giving a small bow, it felt nice that she remembered.

“Aish, what Mrs. Soo? Call me Omma, it’s only a matter of time before you two get married” Jin Kyung’s Omma winked at me.

*COUGH COUGH and other choking sounds.

“Omma! What are you saying!” Jin Kyung sputtered after recovering from choking on her drink.

Looking at away, I felt myself blush as well. I didn’t expect Jin Kyung’s Omma to be this outright and frank about this.

“N-Ne, Soo Omma” I answered after recovering from my own shock.

“J-Jin Young-ah!” she exclaimed.

“You heard that Ri Ah-Unnie” Soo Omma suddenly said whipping up a phone out of no-where.

“Omo! I’m so happy” I heard my Omma’s voice from the speaker. “Jin Young, you better take good care of Mi Yeon’s daughter you hear”

“Ne, I’ll take care of my jagiya well” I played along. Jin Kyung was lobster red by now and it was fun to see her this embarrassed. “Jagiya? See I told you Mi Yeon! There IS something going on between the two of them” I hear my Omma chuckle on the other end.

“Ne, we’re together” I smiled as I put my arm around Jin Kyung who was eating away her embarrassment.

“Wae? Are you mad Jin Kyung?” I lightly nudged her, noticing that she was being really quiet.

As she continued on eating her food, I thought of something…

“Don’t be mad” I whispered into her ear, coving my mouth so that Soo Omma wouldn’t see what I was saying. “Ja-gi-ya, jong mal dang shin ul sa rang hab ni da” I said emphasizing each syllable.

“Omonah! Jin Young!” She blushed red and swatted my arm “How can you say it in front of my Omma” she exclaimed.

“Mwoh? What did he say in front of me?” Soo Omma looked at us as she momentarily broke away from the speakerphone conversation with my Omma.

“I-it’s nothing Omma” Jin Kyung stuttered.

“Just that I told her that I love her very much” I answered, continuing the sentence on for her.

“Assa!” Both our mothers cheered at the same time. It was funny since my Omma was on the phone…

“Omoyah…” Jin Kyung said as she held her face in her hands. “What did I just get myself into?!”

*A lot of fun* I answered in my mind as I ate my food. *Days won’t be boring now that she’s around.* I smiled.

“I’ll leave the two of you alone” Soo Omma said as she picked up her plate. “I already ate earlier on during breakfast”

“Mwoh? If you already ate breakfast that what are we eating now?” Jin Kyung asked as she nearly dropped her chopsticks.

“You’re eating lunch silly” Soo Omma laughed. “It’s already 1pm. I let the two of you sleep in today” she said as she made her way to the kitchen with my Omma still on the line telling her ‘Omo, the kids are so cute. They’re having so much fun together they don’t even know what time it is right now…’ eventually her voice disappeared into the kitchen where I can’t see or hear her anymore.

After finishing our lunch and clearing the dishes we sat on the couch and wondered what we should do…

Turning around, I saw something that made me curious. Getting off the couch, Jin Kyung looked at me as she wondered where I was heading to.

Sitting down at her old white grand piano, I opened the lid to the keys and hit a few notes.

Surprisingly they were still in tune, continuing with all of the keys. Miraculously all of them were still in tune even after so many years of not being played.

Playing a few notes, I waited for the melody to come back to me and soon Jin Kyung was standing next to me by the piano.

“I-is that Vanessa Carlton’s ‘A thousand miles’?” she asked softly.

“Yeah” I answered giving her a smile. “I remember it was the only song I got you to sing to” I smiled fondly at the memory. “Your pronunciation was so bad back then”

“Hey, we were still young!” She defended herself “Of course my English isn’t that good then”

“How is it now?” I taunted her. “Is it still horrible?” I said laughingly.

“Hey! I spent four years overseas, my English have improved by leaps and bounds I might add” she scoffed.

“Prove it” I challenged her as I went back to the top.

“Fine” she breathed in to get ready.

She smiled at me to give me the ‘told you so’ look but I wasn’t convinced. It would be too easy if I let her pass with her only singing one stanza. Shrugging her off and I played louder to challenge her to go on instead.

*Alright, challenge accepted* she gave me a ‘bring it on’ smile as I went on playing.

Playing this part, I felt Jin Kyung’s gaze on me.

Looking up as I continued playing, I smiled warmly when I saw Jin Kyung’s eyes.

She was singing the song with her heart. As if the singer’s words were her own.

~You know I did~ I sang a response to her as I played. Her surprise to my response nearly made her stumble in her singing but she recovered.

I couldn’t resist joining into the song as Jin Kyung sang. If she worked hard at it, she could be a singer too…Her voice has a gentle and sweet quality to it.*Oh wait, that might just be me who thinks of it that way…I’m the one that’s too infatuated with her.*

“Wow” she said breathlessly as the last few notes hung in the air.

“Wow indeed” I said as I looked at her. “Come sit beside me” I asked her as I scooted to one side of the piano chair.

“Follow what I do” I said as I hit a note.

Reading my mind, Jin Kyung hit the note on the other end of the scale. After playing a few notes, Jin Kyung knew what song I was playing and we both played the song one handedly.

She was smiling widely as she played along with me and all I can think of is how much I desperately want to protect that smile of hers.
