I smiled towards the audience as we were getting interviewed by the host.

“So do any of you have someone that you really miss besides family?”

“Actually we have a little sister that we really miss,” Lay answered.

“Oh really?” The host leaned closer to us.

Little sister? Since when?

Luhan raised the microphone to his mouth, “Yeah, we met our little sister a few years back and she has been always support for us when we were training.”

“Ahh! What a lucky girl!”

I looked at Luhan and tried to figure out whether he was lying or not. We didn’t hang out with any girls during our trainee days.”

“Do you have a message for your friend?” The host asked me.

I pulled the mic up towards my lips. What do I say? Sorry, I don’t know this girl that everyone in my group knows?

“Her birthday was close to the end of February and we were all very busy with our debut so I just want to say on behalf of the boys, happy belated birthday.”

I smiled as I pulled the mic away from my face. How I came up with that, I will never know. I don’t remember birthdays unless it’s close to the person’s birthday but do I even know this person? Who is this ‘little sister’? How did we even meet?

“That was very good, boys,” I clapped as we stepped off stage.

The stylist handed me a water bottle and I suddenly got a flashback or something.

“Kris! I have good/bad news. Which one first?” I heard a female voice coming from the speaker of my phone.

“Take it like a man, bad news first.”

I heard laughter coming from the other end, “Doesn’t everyone do that? Anyways, bad news is that I might not be able to come to Korea…”

I didn’t know how to reply so I stayed quiet. I already knew that she can’t stay in Korea because she has to finish high school.

“Kris… SM sent me an email saying I have to move to Korea and they won’t let me leave SM because it’s in the contract.”

“You have a lot of talent. No company would want to ditch you.”

It would be really good for her future if she comes to Korea and train. She’ll be really popular.

Jenny? Who is she? I don’t know a Jenny from Australia… How did I know her name? It wasn’t in the memory… am I going delusional? Is this some weird way of me remembering a dream? Jenny… did we ever have a trainee named Jenny? Did we ever have a Vietnamese trainee? What? How did I know that?

Suddenly I felt like I was missing her, for some reason I wanted to talk to her, catch up on how she’s been and this feeling of missing her. It wasn’t the kind of missing where it was like she was a girlfriend or a family member, it was like a friend. Like a friend I haven’t seen for a long time.

I felt a nudge and turned to see Tao leaning on me.

“Hey Kris, have we ever known someone by the name of Jenny before?”

I stood up straight, “You have memories of her too?”

Tao nodded his head, “I was out shopping one day and I picked up these shoes and then I had this flashback of Amber asking me which pair of shoes Jenny would like and then I was thinking ‘Do I even know a Jenny’ and then suddenly all these flashbacks of you, me and Jenny hanging out after practise when we were trainees.”

Tao shook his head, “How can I forget Jenny? Man, I felt so bad.”

“Amber knows Jenny?”

“I asked Amber and she gave me a weird look and questioned my friendship with Jenny.”

“So Amber knows Jenny.”

Tao nodded, “Yeah, apparently it’s just me who doesn’t know who Jenny is but guessing by the questions you just asked me, you don’t know her either… yet my memories say differently. You two were like close friends. She was like one of us.”

I tilted my head to the side. So am I losing my memory or something?

I put my hands into my pockets and tensed up, “Maybe we’ve been so stressed and preoccupied lately that we’ve forgotten her. We’re horrible friends.”

Tao laughed, “Yeah. We owe her a present.”

I went on KpopExpress and checked for any news relating to EXO. Seriously, it is so hard keeping up with the lies. If I get to go back in time, I’m definitely not going to make the lie. I am just going to listen to Fiona talk about her relationship problems.

Lay: There is one time when all the trainees were all together and we were showing off our skills.

I choked on my saliva as I tried to process what just happened. Did I hear this right? Did Chen from Exo-M just call out my name? I replayed the video.

The subs are wrong. Maybe they meant Janey… or Jenny as in Jennifer. I’m not Jennifer. I’m Jenny. I nodded to myself, trying to convince myself that what just happened was not reality but a pigment of my imagination because I’ve been too worked up about this lie. Maybe I should just check one more time…

I ran my fingers through my hair. This can’t be me… their ‘little sister’ can’t be me. Anyways, there are 7 billion people in the world; I can’t be that self-centred to think it’s me that they just mentioned. A birthday and a name is not enough evidence. It’s not me.

After dance practise we got back to our dorms and usually I would be rushing to the showers but I wanted to get to know this girl, Jenny. How did we know each other?

“Hello,” Jenny bowed to me, “My name is Jenny Nguyen. I’m a new trainee from Australia.”

“Hello,” I bowed back, “My name is Kevin Wu. I’m from Canada.”

Jenny smiled, “Yeah… that’s why I approached you, you’re the only English speaking person here I know.”

“Ahh… is that so? Well I can introduce you to others if you want?” I pointed over to Tao, “He’s Edison, he knows English, there’s f(x)’s Amber and Henry from Suju who’s a fellow Canadian like me.”

Jenny nodded, “Ahh… well maybe I won’t be that lonely here then.”

I found myself logging onto my msn and adding her hotmail address in which is really strange because I remember writing it down anywhere or even asking her for it. The chat window popped up and for some reason, I didn’t feel nervous or anxious, it just feels like I’m talking to someone I know. Which is really strange because I’m pretty sure I don’t… know her.

I looked up at my computer screen and saw a request on MSN. *insert Kris’ email here* Huh? Who’s that? I accepted and immediately opened up a chat window with them.

What? Kris? Okay, someone found out and is pulling a really bad prank on me. No, not going to work. I closed the window but then it popped up again.

What is he on about? I don’t know who he is.

Kris: I know I haven’t talked you to you in a while Jenny but I’ve been really busy with debuting and all the showcases and concerts.
Kris: And travelling back and forth b/w Korea and China.

How does he know my name?

Jenny: I don’t know what sick joke you’re playing at but I do not know you.

My heart was pounding really quickly as I saved the photo my computer. My hands were shaking so much as I tried to process what just happened. It can’t be the real Kris from Exo-M. He did not just add my on msn and tried to convince ME that we were friends. He did not just answer questions that even Fiona didn’t know how to answer. Yes, Fiona doesn’t know that I have a lucky colour.

I was at Dongdaemun with Kris, Tao and Amber and Kris and I went off to look at some jewellery.

“I’m taking buying this one,” said Kris as he picked up a necklace.

I picked up a jade pendent and smiled, “I’m taking this one.”

“Jade?”

I nodded, “Green is my lucky colour.”

I never-! That never-! I didn’t tell Kris about my favourite colour being green. I was never in Korea. I think I would remember if I was in Korea or not.

I moved the mouse icon over the saved picture and I hesitated before opening up the photo. I got goosebumps when I saw the photo. It looked completely real. The people in the photo were real. The background was definitely real and after checking the sub-pixels of the photo, the photo was very real.
