Title: Rookie singer Fiona gets upstaged on second season of ‘Show Me the Money’.

On the February 8^th broadcast of ‘Show Me the Money’ season two, YG’s rookie artist, Fiona, showed up for the audition and performed Yoon Mi Rae’s ‘Get It In’ alongside with her friend, ALPHA’s Jenny.

During the interview, Fiona promised of a great performance since she has rearranged the song and written new lyrics for her part of the song.

Fiona said in the interview, “Jenny’s here today to give me that extra confidence. It’s my first show where I am displaying my skills and talent as a real artist rather than an idol. I wrote the lyrics for the song and I hope that the panellist will enjoy my performance.”

However, after the audition, the panellists were quick to point out the flaws in Fiona’s performance and directed their attention to Jenny.

One of the panellist commented, “Rapping is not about how fast you rap. It’s about conveying your thoughts and feelings into the words that you are rapping… You also failed to write lyrics that had a good rhyme scheme and the tone as well as the persona was almost non-existent.”

You awkwardly changed websites as you finished reading the article. You glanced over at the other members and they were still staring at the computer screen.

“Awkward…” said Min Jung.

Ji Hae nodded her head, “I can’t tell whether I should congratulate you or not…”

You let out a sigh, “They didn’t have to right it like that… Fiona’s going to be sad. She usually gets upset easily.”

“Oh!” Sammy nudged you, “Did you manage to hack into the creep’s computer?”

“Why would she? It’s so creepy…” So Yeon cringed.

“I did.”

“Where, where, where?” Ji Hae asked.

“I did not expect this kind of reaction from you guys. I originally thought you guys would flip out and tell me that I’m breaking all these laws and rules but instead you are encouraging me?”

“Imagine if you told Kwangsoo oppa about this.”

“Why? So that he could pretend that we’re in a drama? No way. He makes things more dramatic than they already are. Plus, they already know about the sasaeng fans. The best they can do is tighten security around our apartment.”

Shin Ah sat down on your bed, “We all know you hacked into it, let’s see the footage.”

You smirked, “You guys know me so well.”

“Of course, how else do you think I reveal all your secrets on variety shows?” asked Sammy.

You turned back to the computer and an encrypted file popped up.

“I managed to record this through the creep’s webcam. I’m using it to find out where he lives.”

“Couldn’t you just try and locate his house through his IP address?” Min Jung asked.

“I could but this guy knows computers too. For him, along with the virus, I gave him a Trojan virus which allowed me to hack into his webcam without him knowing. I’m hoping to use the environment in the window to figure out where he lives.”

A video playback of the recording popped up on the screen and everyone eyes were immediately glued to the screen.

The video showed a room where the walls were completely covered in posters of ALPHA but all the faces have been photo shopped to Shin Ah’s.

“Well this is disturbing…” said Ji Hae.

“Okay, this is weird-ing me out. I’m going outside,” So Yeon shook her head and stepped out the room.

“I’m going to join her; you guys have fun being all detectives about this,” Shin Ah patted you on the shoulder before leaving the room.

Min Jung pointed at the screen, “Is it possible to buy window curtains with us on it? Does SM even have merchandise like that?”

“It’s probably fan merchandise. How the heck did he have time to photo shop all those photos?”

You your hands on your waist, “Damn, he closed off the window; I can’t see what’s outside.”

“Aye… that’s no fun…” Sammy complained, “I thought there would be some important landmark in the background and we could see it straight away.”

You pouted, “I’m going to have to work hard now. Damn, I was planning on being lazy.”

“You kind of are, we have a computer ban and yet here we are…”

You laughed, “True, let’s quickly unplug this and head off to practise. I don’t want anyone to upstage us.”

“And did you hear? OUR SONG IS IN THE TOP 10!”

You nodded, “Yepp, some fans were congratulating us on our fan café.”

~~~~~Kris’ POV~~~~~

I was on my laptop and was reading some internet articles and I came across the article that was talking about how Jenny came out as the better rapper between her and Fiona. I played the video and the panellists were really harsh on Fiona. They basically pointed out all her flaws and kept giving Jenny compliments. I can’t make any excuses… Jenny can rap.

“No offence but I used to think that SM were a bit lazy with their rappers but you have proved me wrong. I apologise.”

SM aren’t lazy with their rappers… just because they hand it to the foreigners… it doesn’t mean that we are bad…

I continued watching the video.

“Fiona-sshi, you seem to be lacking a lot as a rapper. We read your profile and you were listed a singer. Maybe… you should stick to that. Maybe you can convey more emotions through your voice better that way.”

Oh man… that’s harsh… I could see the tears well up in Fiona’s eyes.

“Jenny-sshi, would you like to join the competition?”

Dramatic music played and without any hesitation, Jenny answered.

“No thank you.”

The panellists looked on with shock, “Why?”

Jenny bowed 90 degrees to the panellist, “I’m sorry.”

“Why did Jenny give up this opportunity?” asked the voiceover.

The screen switched to you doing an interview. “My job today was to help my friend, Fiona and since I couldn’t do that, I believe that I have failed… I am very honoured to be in their presence today and for the sunbae--nims to acknowledge my talent, I am very happy.”

The scene switched to Fiona who was crying.

I feel so bad for Fiona. She really wanted this opportunity… but wasn’t Fiona a singer? Why is she trying out for a rapping show?

The scene then went back to the panellists, “Because she was from YG Entertainment, where it’s mainly hip-hop based, we had high hopes for her. Hyun Suk hyung has helped many great artists so we were expecting a lot as well. It’s really a shame…”

I couldn’t watch it anymore. They were being so mean to Fiona. If she listed as a singer and she went on a rap show, shouldn’t they at least praise her for trying? Maybe I should call her to cheer her up.

-----------Phone call-----------

Fiona: Hello?
Me: Hey, how are you?
Fiona: I’m okay, why?

At least she doesn’t seem too affected by this.

Me: I saw the articles…just wanted to know if you’re okay.
Fiona: I’m fine. it doesn’t matter anyways.
Me: It doesn’t matter?
Fiona: Like they said, I’m a singer. I should stick to singing. Plus, that show was for wannabes anyways.

Wannabes?

Me: Um…
Fiona: There are no popular artists on there anyways.

Popular artists?

Fiona: The closest to acknowledgeable was Miryo and then again she stuffed up once.
Me: She’s our sunbae…
Fiona: The show’s about talent, not about debut time. Not that it was about talent anyways. I could rap really quickly and it was clear. Outsider raps really quickly and no one says he has no talent.

She’s really bitter right now…

Fiona: G-Dragon and TOP didn’t go on the show so you know what? The show is for the unknown artists.
Me: Um…

She’s left me speechless…

Fiona: Hey, I’m going to the temple on Lunar New Year, you want to come along?
Me: Okay, sure.
Fiona: I’ll text you the address. I’ll see you there!

“Bye…”

She hung up on me… Oh well, we’ll talk more when we meet each other at the temple.
