JIEUN POV

“Jieun ah. Let’s study together again. Since we are not working together. We should spend time together WHILE studying. We have been so busy with projects. I think it’s time for us to spend time together and study at the same time.” Hyuk said as we walk together hand in hand towards the cafeteria.

“Arraseo, oppa.” I told him. You must be wondering why I am calling him oppa, even though our age are the same. He insisted that I should call him oppa. He said, it will sound nice if I call him oppa rather than his real name. Everyone around us are used to me calling him oppa. It’s almost six month we became couple. We really embrace every moment that we have.

After the first date at the ice cream parlour, we spend almost every day with each other. Except for the days when we don’t work and school. Other than that, you will see us together. Going to school, in class, in cafeteria, in library, going back from school, going work, at work and going back home. We are always together. On the other hand, our phones will never stop vibrating once we got home. Messages after messages and even late night call. Even unni get annoyed sometimes. She said it is better to see us together all the time rather than to hear my phone vibrating all the time.

“Have you been revising at home?” Oppa asked as we sat down at our usual bench.

“Yes I started but we are always texting and calling each other, how can I concentrate on studying? Oppa I think we need to state a curfew.” I told him

“Ah wae? I like talking to you at night. But this past few weeks, I have always listen to your snores.” He revealed.

“Oppa…. I don’t snore.”

“You did. But don’t worry. Even your snore sound nice to me. Arraseo arraseo. Let’s say we put the time around eleven.”

“Andwae oppa. It’s too late. We need to study~~~~ nine. Nine is the curfew.”

“How about ten? I need to talk to you~~”

“Nine.”

“Nine thirty.”

“Arraseo nine thirty. No more message or call after that. Just good night text will do.” I agree with the timing.

“Oppa, you must really study okay. We need to get into the university. We need to get the best job out there later.”

“Arraseo arraseo. I will. I will.” Hyuk said.

“Jieun ah, we should start eating. We don’t have the whole day to eat this delicious food.” Hyuk continued.

KAI POV

Assignments after assignments. I still have two more due reports by end of the week. I have been busy with my school this past weeks. Group meeting after group meeting made me stay out very late. Although I always get home pretty late, Ommonim will always wait for me. Although I told her that she don’t have to wait for me, she insisted. She said that I made her feeling like a real mother. She have always wanted to experience waiting for her child who come back late. Not just that, she even prepared light snacks at night for me when I was busy doing my assignment late at night.

Knock knock.

“Jongin ah, I prepared some light snack for you. Make sure you eat it okay.” Ommonim came in and bring in the light snack for me.

“Thank you Ommonim. I will eat it. Ommonim you should go and sleep. You have been staying up late this few weeks.” I told her. Of course, I’m concern.

“Aigoo~ It’s okay. I really feel like a real mother this few weeks. Preparing light snack for my son who is busy doing his work. Jongin ah, don’t work too hard, you need some rest too.” Ommonim said as she pat my back. She then walk towards my bed and sat there. There’s only one thing in my head right now… JIEUN.

“Jongin ah. I really want to thank you for staying with us here.” Ommonim continued.

“Aniyo, Ommonim. I should be the one thanking. I have been staying here and I am being fed every day for free. You even waited for me every night and also prepared light snacks. How can I not be thankful? You still accept me as your son-in-law even after you know what I did to Jieun.” I told her. Ever since I stayed here, I never ever brought up this topic. It’s not that I already forgotten about it. I thought I should give them sometimes because I’m sure that they are still angry and upset with what I did to their daughter.

“Jongin ah. I know you feel guilty. And yes to be honest, I was really upset and angry when I found out about what you did to Jieun. But when I see how you really regretted what you did, I know you didn’t mean anything.” Ommonim said. I was holding back my tears that was already at the brim of my eyes.

“Mianhaeyo Ommonim. Jeongmal mianhaeyo. I know that I don’t deserve to be with Jieun. I know I should be punished.” Tears that was at the brim finally make it way down as I apologized.

“Jongin ah. After Jieun left, you were always there for everyone in this house. You took over Jieun’s place in this house. You followed me to the market, you help abeonim with the repairs at home, you send the boys and girls to school and even attend those meetings at their school. And I am very thankful for that. I believe in Jieun. I know my daughter very well. I know that she will come back one day. You don’t worry. For now, we shall give her sometimes alone.” Ommonim comfort me.

“It’s okay. Don’t cry anymore. Come eat your snacks. I’m sure you still have a lot of work to do. I will leave you with your work okay. Don’t sleep too late okay.” Ommonim stood up from the bed and left the room.
