 Chapter Seventeen  Fight.

"Brian, you better fight for your life."

“What else can we do? Suho asked as some of them got an idea. “How about we try to find out ourselves?” Kai suggested as some agreed, some didn’t. “That would be invading their privacy.” Lay said with a frown as Chen, Xiumin and Luhan were on Lay’s side. “I’m staying out of this. I’m going to Tao’s room.” Chanyeol raised two hands in front of his chest before sliding away from the group. “Wait for me.” Kris said as he followed Chanyeol. “This isn’t such a bad idea either guys. We’ll finally know what’s hidden in their past.” Baekhyun voiced up as Sehun let out a gasp. “Baekhyun, you too? I thought you would be the one to stop them.”

“Well I am curious. Aren’t you curious?” Baekhyun questioned Sehun as he gulped.

“W-Well yes but-“

“Then why not?”

“I don’t know!” Sehun shouted before he left the room. Now it was just down to Kai, Chen, Xiumin, Luhan, Lay, Baekhyun, D.O., and Suho. “I don’t know guys, I really want to know what’s hidden behind their past but doing this is wrong.” Suho let out a heavy sigh before Kai nudged Baekhyun to follow him. “Fine, we’ll find out then. C’mon Baekhyun.” Baekhyun followed behind Kai as none of them tried to stop them. It would be impossible to talk them out of it anyway. “What if they get caught?” Lay nudged Suho as he gulped. “Let’s just hope they don’t.”

“Alright, ready?” Kai questioned as Baekhyun nodded his head. They twisted the door open and they slowly entered Brian’s room. They gulped the moment they both shut the door. “Do we switch the lights on?” Kai questioned as Baekhyun put his hands together to create a small glowing ball to make it their torchlight. “Ah, smart.” Kai smirked as they examined the room. The walls were painted with dark blue along with a vintage pattern. His walls had a row of lights on each side, it made it look like the room was a box. They walked towards his side table by his bed. Baekhyun’s glow ball disappeared as Kai switched on the table lamp.”Are you sure we should do this?” Baekhyun questioned again, now he felt guilt and nervousness flushing all over his body.

It was like Brian’s aura was getting more and more visible but Kai pushed that thought aside. “We’re already here, it wouldn’t hurt to look.” Kai opened the drawer and Baekhyun was chewing on his lower lip. He really wished he had stayed out of it in the first place but as much as he hated to admit it, he was really curious what Brian kept in his drawer. All that was in the drawer was a ring on top of a stack of papers. Both of them furrowed their eyebrows as Kai reached to grab it. “Don’t touch it!” Baekhyun hissed but Kai shrugged his shoulders. “It’s just a silver ri-“

Kai’s voice trailed off the moment he dropped the ring onto the ground. “Oh .” Kai cursed as Baekhyun started to panic. “Dude! You dropped it! How the hell could you have dropped it?!” Baekhyun smacked Kai in the head as Kai let out a slight hiss. “Let’s just find it before he-“ his voice trailed off the moment the door banged open with the lights switched on, revealing Brian. Brian raised a brow and his eyes darkened the moment he saw his drawer opened with the two boys kneeling down beside it.

Both of them let out an audible gulp when they saw Brian clenching his fists.”What the hell are the two of you doing here?!” Brian roared as he punched through the door, leaving a huge hole and Brian’s knuckles a little bloody as chips of the wood cut his skin but he couldn’t feel any pain. Soon enough, the rest of the boys came to see what happened. “Oh my god..” Suho croaked out softly as the rest circled around Brian from the back, leaving a gap from him. Brian’s aura was an aura the boys had never felt before. This time the aura around Brian was intimidating, and life threatening.

“I asked you once, don’t make me ing repeat myself.” Brian’s voice sounded so cold that it sent chills down everyone’s spines. “Answer me!” Brian shouted again as he appeared in front of two of the boys, pulling them up by their collars with Kai in his left hand and Baekhyun in the other. “What’s going on?” Hae Jung questioned as she appeared behind all the boys circling by the door. They made way for her as she slid past them and entered the room. Her eyes widened and furrowed her eyebrows when she saw what Brian was doing. She was just a few steps away from him and she knew better to let him settle it on his own.

“Before I rip your heads off, you better tell me what you’re doing in my room.” Brian growled as Baekhyun whimpered a little and Brian took notice of that. Brian shut his eyes tight before letting them go. “Explain, now.” Brian hissed as Baekhyun signaled Kai to explain. “We heard that you two were crying and we just wanted to know what’s going on.”

“Really? Find out what?! HERE? In my ing room?!” Brian shouted as Kai gulped.

“Look! It’s just that we really want to know what’s going on with the two of you. You two never tell us anything about your past and it because we would want to know what’s going on. Maybe we can he-“

“And what makes you think you’ll find anything in my room?!” Brian cocked his head sideways before Baekhyun stepped in.

“We’re just really sorry that we invaded your privacy bu-“

“B-Brian.” Hae Jung called him out, making all eyes on her. “W-Wher-Where’s the ring?” she breathed out as she gulped. Brian’s eyes darkened right before they could soften as he pushed the two boys aside to pull out the drawer with one go. He flipped it and shook it vigorously but nothing would drop out but papers. Brian tossed the drawer until it crashed into the wall, breaking into pieces. Brian eyed the two boys in front of him and his eyes started to turn into a dark shade of maroon. He raised his hand and both of them knew it was going to hurt but nothing happened the moment Hae Jung placed the ring on the hand Brian was raising up. Brian gazed up to his hand as he lowered his hand down to look at the ring he thought he had lost the one thing that was in his price possession. It was lucky enough that Hae Jung had spotted it at the side of the table.

“Leave, I’ll handle it from here.” She whispered at Brian who didn't want to move but after Hae Jung gave a kiss on his cheek, he stormed out of the room with a tear rolling down his cheek as he clenched on tight to the ring. The boys immediately made way for him as he brushed past them. “You two,” she pointed at the two boys in front of her before letting out a heavy sigh. “Clean this up, and meet me downstairs.” She turned around and clapped her hands once to grab the attention of the other boys standing by the door. “You guys too, meet me downstairs. I want everybody down there in 10 minutes. I’ll be down there soon.” The boys couldn’t possibly disagree or anything as she was gone already in the next minute. “Great job guys. Just great.” Tao clapped his hands in a sarcastic manner before both Kai and Baekhyun started to clean up the mess in Brian’s room.

“Brian?” she called him out when he was in one of the rooms on the third floor. The rest of the boys were in the living room. Some were nervous, especially Kai and Baekhyun. He was holding onto the ring tight with another tear rolling down his cheek. She placed a hand on his cheek, turning his face slightly to meet hers. “Look at me.” Slowly he opened his eyes to be greeted with a pair of brown eyes that managed to warm his heart even though he has every right to break down. “I know what you’re thinking.” She nodded her head a little as he let out a soft scoff before rolling his eyes at the girl in front of him. “Really?” he breathed out before she nodded her head with an assuring smile.

“You’re not alone. You have me now and Yunho along with the rest of the clan here for you. And as much as I hate to admit it, you have twelve newborns that look up to you. You are amazing and you’re worth so much.” Her voice was filled with such sincerity. That was one of the reasons why he loved her dearly. “Now let me give you a hug before you burst out into tears.” She joked a little as she pulled him in for a hug. One of his hands at the back of her head as the other was pressing onto her lower back. “Thank you.” He whispered as she hummed, squeezing him tighter. She broke the hug and placed her hands at the sides of his waist. “I want to tell them.” He stared at the ground when he said those words. “If you think now’s the right time, go for it.”

Hae Jung came down the stairs, holding onto Brian’s hand. The boys could feel immediately that they were coming. Their hearts were beating in a fast pace and some of them couldn’t even sit still. Some of them were on the sofa and some of them were on the ground by the sofas. Brian entered the living room and dragged a chair from the corner to place it in front of the boys. Hae Jung followed his actions to sit beside him on a chair. He looked up and eyed Kai along with Baekhyun. “I just want to apologize.” Their eyes widened and some of them gawk their mouth open. Weren’t Kai and Baekhyun supposed to apologize? “I’m sorry for the way I acted a moment ago. I apologize if that scared you.” He chuckled dryly before Hae Jung gave him a soft squeeze in his hand. He glanced at the girl beside him before whispering, “I can do this.” She nodded her head with a slight frown. She knew there would be tears.

“And since you guys want to know, I think it’s only fair if I shared with you guys.” He said with a warm voice as the aura he had a moment ago in the room was replaced with a warm one. Brian let out a soft scoff before looking up to stare at the ceiling instead of pairs of eyes looking up at him. “Where do I begin?”

“Honey, I want you to hide here and don’t come out. Do you understand?” his mother questioned as he nodded his head before pressing his lips together. He was only 6 years old in human age, but already 50 years in vampire age since he was a pure breed. “Mom don’t leave me!” He pleaded but she shut her eyes tight before slipping off the ring on her finger. She placed the ring in his hands before pulling him in for a tight hug. “Mary! Hurry up! They’re coming!” A man’s voice shouted, who happened to be Brian’s father.

“I have to go now. Promise me you’ll stay here. If someone opens this cabinet, fight for your life. Do you promise me?” she questioned as tears streamed down the boy’s face. “I promise! I promise!” he shouted as she got up and whispered “I love you.” before locking the metal cabinet doors. He heard a click and that’s when he knew she had locked the indestructible metal cabinet he was forced to sit inside of.

“You didn’t even say goodbye to him.” Brandon, Brian’s older brother snapped at his father before his father let a tear roll down his cheek. “I can’t possibly say goodbye to him.” His father whispered as they stood in front of the house, protecting the house as they felt presence coming their way. It would be impossible for them to flee as they were coming in a circle to surround their house and Brian’s father knew better. “Is he safe?” he questioned Mary when she came to stand beside him with Brandon on his other side. “He’s safe.” She croaked out as Brandon inhaled deeply. “I’ll miss that little brat.” He muttered softly as he received a slight squeeze on his shoulder. “We all will.”

Their hearts were beating faster and faster. Their eyes change into a slight shade of maroon except for Brian’s father. His eyes remained black as the presence was coming closer and closer. “Just in case we don’t survive this, I love you. Both of you.” His father gulped before Brandon and Mary leaned in to give him a tight hug. “Get ready. They’re here.” He whispered as both of them backed away to form a triangle with their backs facing one another to keep a lookout. Soon they were surrounded by hoards of vampires from the Carrion Clan. They were trespassing, but did they care? They couldn’t even care less.

“Touch my son or wife and you’ll die.” Henry, Brian’s father whispered in a deadly tone that sent shivers down the spines of the vampires around them. “Give us your best shot.” One of the vampire smirked before they attacked.

One after another, Mary, Brandon and Henry killed any vampires that tried to get inside the house. “Dad! Watch your back!” Brandon called out before using his mind to compress the heart of the vampire in front of him. His father swiftly turned around to kick the vampire far away before the vampire could hurt his ribcage. “Mary! Now!” He shouted as more and more vampires kept coming. They just won’t stop. She shut her eyes tight before grabbing onto Brandon’s hand and Henry’s. She squeezed their hands before Brandon and Henry became invisible. The effect would only last for 2 minutes but that was more than enough for them to kill as many vampires as they could.

Mary jumped high in the air before landing on the roof where she kicked off the vampire that tried to break into the house from the roof. Another vampire came by surprise from her back, lingering a silver dagger at her neck. “Move and I’ll end your life.” She gulped as Henry sensed something was wrong. Brandon was too busy taking care of the vampires that tried to invade their house. He kicked off the last vampire before he was visible again. “Brandon! Guard the door!” Henry shouted before making his way to the roof of the house. Brandon dashed to the door to kill the vampire that tried to barge in.

He got on the roof before clenching his fists. “Let her go.”

“I don’t think so. If you want her, give us the boy.”

He tried using his powers to push the vampire away but it was no use. He was trained to block his powers from affecting him. “Don’t let him have him Henry!” She shouted as Henry tried to take a step closer but the vampire was this close to slitting her neck with the sliver dagger. Henry froze immediately before getting pulled back by a vampire to fall down to the ground. He easily killed the vampire before jumping back up to the roof only to find the love of his life lying down on the ground.

“Worthless scum.” Henry’s voice was filled with anger as the dashed towards the vampire to rip his head of mercilessly. He ripped apart the vampires body parts until his arms and legs were gone. His heart sank down deeper when he came back to the roof to lift Mary up in his arms. “Stupid, you stupid woman.” He cried as she weakly placed a hand on his cheek. “I’m sorry,” she whispered softly as the quicksilver was eating her alive since the vampire had slit her neck as well as stabbing various parts of her body. “I love you, Henry.” Were her last words before she shut her eyes tight to join her relatives in heaven. “No!” He shouted as he stood up, only to be greeted with a dagger piercing through his heart from the back. His eyes widened as he fell down on the roof. Brandon could sense something was wrong. He killed the rest of the vampires as he knew more was coming before help arrived. He kicked off the last vampire before jumping onto the roof where he last saw his mother and father.

His eyes widened before he tried to process the sight. He didn’t know which one killed him more. His mother lying down on the roof with her eyes closed along with cuts and stabs everywhere on her body or his father who was currently fighting for his life with a silver dagger on his back. He used every single inch of his power left in him to make the vampire explode. His blood splattered everywhere and his body parts flew around the area. He ran towards both of his parents lying down on the ground. “NO! You can’t leave me! What about me?! What about Brian?!” he shouted as he shook the bodies of his parents on the roof. “B-Brandon..” his father called him out as he immediately lifted his father up. He pulled out the silver dagger on his back before his father spoke.

“Listen to me,” his father coughed out blood before he could continue. “Free Brian, let him be free and tell him to run. Flee with Brian.” His father closed his eyes and as much as Brandon didn’t want to face the fact, his father was gone. “No! Don’t just ing tell me this! You have to come back! What about those things you said we’d do when Brian was older?!” he roared as he shook the body of the man whose heartbeat was gone. Words of his father that was once said to him lingered in his mind. His father promised of doing so many things when Brian was older. So many promises and wishes to be granted crashed down on Brandon.

He wiped off the tears with the back of his hand before placing his father to lie down beside his mother on the roof. He shut his eyes tight before planting a kiss on both of their foreheads. As much as he wanted to grieve on more about the death of his parents, his brother’s life was on his hands. He opened his eyes and his eyes returned to his original color. He punched through the roof and entered the house. He had to unlock the metal cabinet that Brian was hiding in. He couldn’t find the key, he looked high and low but there was no use. “Brian! Brian do you hear me?!” Brandon shouted as he shook the cabinet. “B-Brandon?” Brian croaked out as Brandon shouted at him, asking him to break apart the metal cabinet with his mind.

“But I can’t! It’s indestructible!” Brian complained as Brandon shouted again. “Just do it! Our lives are on the line! Mom and dad are dead!” Brian’s eyes widened as he looked down on the ring his mother had gave him before he realized she was dead. He slipped onto the ring and anger flushed in his veins. Not sadness or depression, anger. He shut his eyes tight and just when his brother shouted “Hurry!” the metal cabinet broke into pieces and a cloud of smoke puffed into the air. Brandon dashed towards Brian and hugged him tight. He broke the hug and placed his hands on his shoulders. “Listen to me, I want you to run. Run for your life. We can’t protect you anymore. I'm staying here to make sure none of these people can hurt you but you have to fight for your life.” Brandon whispered as Brian was already in tears. “B-Bu-“

“Just do it for me! Do it for mom and dad! Do it for me!” he roared as Brian nodded his head. Brandon took off his necklace with a cross to put it over Brian’s neck. “Run, and don’t stop until you find help.”

Brian contemplated whether he should go but after seeing tears streaming down Brandon’s face, he ran back towards his older brother to hug him tight. Brandon was only 16 years old in human age, but already 140 years as a vampire. He was considered young but powerful. He was one of the prodigies that people feared the most as he can use anger and love as his boost of power. “Please be okay.” Brian croaked out softly as his brother broke the hug to give him a big boost away from him. “Run!” Brandon shouted as Brian nodded his head, clenching his fists. He ran away as far as he could to get help.

Brandon’s eyes turned pure red instantly the moment he felt presence nearing him. He stood up and turned around to dodge the silver knife being thrown at his way. “Why Brandon, it’s just you alone?” one of the vampire from the Carrion Clan smirked the moment Brandon clenched his fists. “I see you’ve brought some friends.” Brandon cocked his head sideways only to take at a better look at some of the best vampires in the Carrion Clan. “Why, yes I have. And I see you’re alone.”

“Where’s the boy?”

“Far away from where he should be.”

“Stubborn, aren’t we?”

“Let’s just get on with it.” Brandon was growing impatient as the vampire in front of him smiled before four vampires attacked Brandon at once. “Brian, you better fight for your life.” Brandon managed to pass through a message into Brian’s mind before he took on the four vampires.

The boys tried to keep a straight mind and some tried not to cry as they listened to Brian tell a little about his past. They failed miserably the moment a tear rolled down Brian's cheek. Hae Jung squeezed onto Brian’s hand, indicating that she’s been holding onto his hand the whole time. Brian clenched onto the ring in his hand before standing up, pulling his hand away from Hae Jung’s. He tried his best to smile, but he couldn’t. Before he could walk away from the group, Hae Jung stopped him. “Where are you going?” she questioned as he turned around to look at them. “I’m going to sleep. I’m really tired and tomorrow’s training will start in noon. Get some rest, alright?” he smiled bitterly before attempting to turn around but the girl stopped him again. “Ah, what is it? I’m fine. I’m just tired. Let me sleep alright?” he chuckled dryly before trying to hide another tear rolling down his cheek.
