Chapter 53 – Beginning of a new life

Dara was in her room, preparing for the big event today. It’s their graduation and she wanted to look good. Not because she’s a goddess herself but because she wanted to look good for her valedictorian speech.

She knew that everyone’s eyes will be on her, even if she will just step out of the car. She’ Sandara Park after all, Seoul’s famous model, heiress of Park Industries and the only love of Choi Seunghyun, so she expected all the attention she would garner.

“Darling, are you done now?” Mr. Park knocked on her door.

“Almost dad!” She cooed inside.

“Me and your mom will be waiting for you in the car, okay darling?”

“Okay dad!”

“Mom, are you done?” TOP poked his head inside his parent’s room.

Mrs. Choi turned around and smiled, “Yes honey, I’m done.”

“Dad is waiting for us now mom.”

“Okay dear, come on. Don’t let the old man wait” Mrs. Choi said and arranged TOP’s tie.

“Thanks mom.”

Mrs. Choi nodded and hugged her son. “My boy is already full grown eh? Finally graduated in high school and will be in college soon. Then there’s this beautiful girl that captures his heart” she patted his back.

TOP can’t help but to smile at his mother’s words. He hugged her tight and said “Mom, your son’s been a full grown since I met my girl. But don’t worry; you’ll always be my number one girl in the world.”

“Really?” her mom broke free from the hug and stared at him with a huge smile on her lips.

“Yes, really.”

“Honey!! Seunghyun!!” Mr. Choi’s voice echoed downstairs.

“Coming dad!

“Here are the graduates of 2012-2013” the master of ceremony started. All the graduating students were lined up and were starting to walk to their designated place in alphabetical order.

TOP was already in his seat since his family name starts with “C”, while Dara was still outside the auditorium waiting for the line to move. He kept on glancing at his back hoping he could see a glimpse of his girl. But no luck.

When Dara reached her place, her eyes started to roam around for his Tabi. She can no longer spot his blue turquoise hair since his hair color now is black, just like the ordinary male students in YGU. She sighed and gave up.

‘I’ll surely see him after the ceremony’ she thought.

One of the teachers approached her and smiled, “Miss Park, you already knew when to leave your place, right?”

“Oh, yes Mrs. Lee it’s after the giving of the diplomas and my speech is after the principal’s message to everyone” she replied with a smile.

“Very good Miss Park; now let me excuse myself” then teacher Lee leave and headed back to the stage where the other faculty members sat.

The giving of the diplomas started and Dara saw TOP went up the stage and received the rolled paper. He shook hands with the dean, the principal and the director of the school. He stopped walking and looked around the auditorium.

Dara just watched him with a smile on her lips. Silly boy!

She shot her hands up and waved at him. That’s the time TOP saw her. He winked at her and blew a kiss.

She playfully caught the kiss and laid it on her lips. She saw him grinning at the stage.

TOP was glued on his spot and didn’t walk out of the stage. He didn’t want to walk away and again, lost his eyes on Dara.

An usherette approached TOP and made some gesture towards his seat. Dara couldn’t help but to giggle at her boyfriend who pouted at the usherette. What makes it funny was that the usherette didn’t fall on TOP’s swooning-cute-side. The girl didn’t care about him. She didn’t even blush when she saw him. TOP’s power didn’t work on her. Ha!

He can’t do anything but to walk away. He stole one last glance at Dara and mouthed, “I love you babe” before he finally headed to his seat.

Dara pitied on her boyfriend since they didn’t get a chance to talk today. When she arrived in school, the dean was looking for her and the other school admin to congratulate her.  Then she was practicing her speech. She mentally noted herself to make up with him after this event.

“… once again, congratulations my dear students!!” the principal ended her speech with a loud applause from the students and visitors.

“For the final message, please help me welcome the valedictorian of school year 2012-2013, MISS SANDARA PARK!!!!” A deafening applause echoed all over the auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. Park stood up and watched their lovely daughter went up stage. Big Bang cheered the loudest though Dara’s fanboys were clapping loudly too. TOP lovingly stare at her as he continue to clap his hands.

‘My babe.’

“Thank you everyone” she started and everyone went silent. “It’s been a rough ride to this journey, right?” She paused and the students went ‘yes’ and ‘yeah’. She smiled and continued, “I didn’t witness the past few years in YGU but the days I’ve spent in here is not comparable to the past school I’d studied. This is the place where my beautiful adventures started. It may be bad at first but as the days drags on, it became good. I think everyone has learned a lesson from my disguise that ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover. It’s on the content that counts; the pages, the words, the sentences and everything inside a book.’” She smiled as she thought about the first few months she came in YGU, the time when she was still disguising herself as a nerd girl.

“What is ahead of us? We really don’t know. But we need to strive hard in college. We’re mature now and being a childish in college is not acceptable. College is where the beginning of our lives will start. The real deal is there. If we are strived in high school, we need to strive more in college.” She pumped her fist in the air and everyone followed her.

“But above all, we need to thank our parents for supporting us. They are our number one fan.  They are the ones who will stay behind our back when the world is so mean to us.” She smiled and the students nodded their heads. “Mom and dad, I’m so grateful that you are my parents. I know my simple ‘thank you’ is not enough for all the things, the care, the love you’ve given to me. I love you so much”

Dara looked at her parents and smiled. Mr. and Mrs. Park smiled back at her.

“This achievement I’ve reached is nothing when you are not there to support me. To mom and dad, I love you so, so, dearly and to all the other parents out there, even if you’re son or daughter can’t say those three words, they love you and they are very grateful too. To my very first girl friend in here, Hara, thank you and I hope we can still see each other in the future. To Big Bang guys,” she paused as the students cheered for the mere mention of the name. Jiyong, TOP, Taeyang, Seungri and Daesung stood up and bowed at the crowd. “Thank you for being there for me, from the toughest time we encounter until this journey, thank you very, very, much. You know that I love you guys.” They, minus TOP, saluted her. She saluted back and laughed.

“Lastly, to my dear Seunghyun” she paused and bit her lip. She didn’t want to tell it to the whole crowd since the big bosses in the university were there and can hear it.

“Choi Seunghyun! Choi Seunghyun! Choi Seunghyun!!!” The crowd cheered. That’s the cue for her to continue.

“Thank you. Thank you for everything you did for me, even if it’s your life that at stake, you are always there to save me still. When I’ve had that amnesia, thank you for staying by my side even though I can’t remember you” tears started to spring up in her eyes. “I love you so much babe. You are part of my achievement and I am thankful of that.” She looked up at the crowd and stared at the only man standing then smiled.

She wiped the threatening tears and cleared . “I don’t know if that’s a valedictory speech but whatever. As long as I can thank the people in here, that’s my speech” she laughed and turned around to the staff sitting. “Thank you so much.” She bowed 90 degrees and just like a mob dance, the students bowed down as well saying, “Kamsahamnida!!”

Teachers, school’s administrations, and the principal stood up and bowed at the students in front of them. Dara walked back to her seat with a smile plastered on her lips. Her speech may not be that good but she made everyone understand what her point is.

The ceremony ended and as a lovesick guy, TOP went directly to Dara who was with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Choi couldn’t help but to chuckle at the silliness of their son. They headed towards the Park family and greeted each other. Then the talk of business starts. Dara and TOP were left behind.

“Congratulations babe” he grinned.

“And, same to you Hyunnie.”

There was silence between them, but they love it. They just stare at each other lovingly.

“That was … hella of a nice speech babe!” TOP proudly told her.

“Really?”

He nodded and held her hand, “The last speech was the best.” He stared at her eyes and pecked her lips.

“I know right?” she giggled and glanced back at their parents. She knew by then that when they meet, they’ll talk about business.

She was correct but what she didn’t know was that, both their parents are talking about their future, as a family together.

“Do you think they’ll be happy when they hear this news?” Mrs. Choi asked.

“Of course they will honey, just look at how our son stare at Dara. They’re in love with each other” Mr. Choi replied.

The four of them looked at the couple who were talking sweet nothings.

“Our darling is really grown up now” Mrs. Park smiled.

“And you raised a very beautiful girl” Mrs. Choi commented.

And you with your son too” Mr. Park said.

“Babe, let me go to our parents. I’ll ask permission to them that we’ll be going somewhere together” TOP said as he kissed Dara’s hair.

“Okay Hyunnie. I’ll be waiting for you here” she nodded and smiled.

Just as TOP walked towards their parents, Dara’s fanboys took the chance to approach her.

“Congratulations Dara~~” they chorused and together, they gave her their flowers.

“Thank you guys and congratulations to you too” she hugged the flowers and smiled at them.

“We’re going to miss you Dara~~ we hope we still go to the same college school in the future” two guys, which she assumed twins said in unison.

“I hope so too. You’ve been so loyal to me” she giggled and the group of guys blushed. Like really?

“AHEM!” TOP coughed loudly.

Their parents heard this and they stifle their laughs.

“Oh, TOP-ssi” the boys awkwardly waved at him. “Congrats!” Then they scram away.

“Aigoo~” Dara pouted.

“What?”

“You scared ‘em!”

“I didn’t. They’re just scared of me.”

“Whatever! Is it okay with them?” she asked.

“Yeah and they said that we’re just gonna have a get together, both our families with the Big Bang guys the next day.”

“REALLY?”

“Yup!”

“Uwaa! That’s nice.” She jumped and her smile reached her ears for too much happiness.

“Now come on, it’s our time to shine.” TOP grinned and interlaced his hand to hers.

So about my competition, I'm just on the 4th place, sadly. I was so near the 3rd but didn't got in. What's taking me these long to update this chappy is that after the competition my course is having the biggest event in our school, so i was very busy. Etc. etc. xDD
