01: That Night

Luhan's gift; A big CHECK.

One lady excitedly headed to the bathroom after she prepared all the stuffs she needs. She casually takes off her clothes and opened the shower. While showering, she hums the song that was keep on repeating all over head since the moment she woke up. She's totally in a good mood today, knowing that it's her nephew's birthday and she'll be there for his party to surprise him. Not only that, she will have another job interview, after 3 weeks of being jobless, there's a company that finally got interested called her for an interview.

Just 30 minutes of shower, she went out and changed into her clothes she prepared earlier. It took another 30 minutes for her to dry her hair before she tied it up and put on her eyeglasses.

'Looking so good always, Im Yoona.' She praises herself and winks to the mirror before grabbing her camera, motorbike keys and her gift for her little nephew. She left the room and was about to head downstairs when she thought of checking her wife in the next room. But before she can even knock on the door, she reminds herself that she always wakes up early and go to work early as well. Sighing, she heads down stairs and headed to the kitchen, in case her wife left her some food. And as usual, there's none. But she left a note that was sticking to the fridge's door.

I know it's your nephew's birthday today, So I did not think of preparing you breakfast or your lunch.

Just tell your nephew I'm saying 'Happy Birthday'. I've already sent my gift for him.

"Well." She took the sticky note and crumpled it, before throwing it to the garbage can. Then she grabs her big bottle of water, putting it into her backpack after having her drink. Not planning to have breakfast, she exited the house and made sure it was lock before she completely left.

It's been five months like that - she goes out alone - ever since her relationship with her wife got cold. It's been 3 years since they are married, and she thinks they will not even last for another year. Just maybe one last month, they will end up breaking up and ends their 3 years of marriage.

How, when and where did it started?

She still could remember it.

[Flashback...]

She wakes up with a terrible headache and could barely move from the bed, and barely could remember the past night, the reason why she's like she's being ripped apart.

Trying to get up, she has hold her head while enduring the pain. Just then, she heard the door was being opened and heavy footsteps was heard, that got closer and closer - until it stopped, just the same time pictures was thrown to her. Her eyes widened when she saw herself in those pictures, together with a girl.

"I did not know you had a good time last night." Comes a cold voice coming from a very familiar voice. She looked up and was met by her wife's cold yet painful eyes. But before she can think of explaining herself, the latter slapped her across her face, causing for her head to turn left. She was stunned and heart aches for the very first time since they got married.

"You should have told me that you want more than one woman in your life. I should have brought you more into this house!" Seohyun told her before storming outside the room.

She wanted to come after her but she suddenly changed her mind, thinking it will not help at all. Her wife isn't calm and for sure, she will not listen to whatever she's going to say at the moment. So she stayed in the bed. Their bed that they've been sharing ever since they got married 3 years ago.

'Yeah, before I forgot. Yesterday was our 3rd year anniversary as a married couple. Damn. I ruined it for not coming to our date.'

Smacking her own forehead physically, she then Looks down to the photos, she couldn't believe all of them. It was all captured in a hotel's lounge. All of it are with a girl, who was supporting her until they got inside the lift.

"How... Did this happened?" She tried to recall the past night and she only ends up recalling the celebration she had with her band mates. It was Min Ho's birthday and he invited a lot of friends, including the girl on the picture, Park Min Young, Min Ho's cousin. They're all out last night; drinking and dancing to the music as if the world is going to end that night. But it seems she got drunk and this Min Young took advantage of it.

"Ugh, I seriously couldn't remember I went to this hotel." She groaned and once again lied to her bed. "Babo, Babo, Babo Im Yoona. You broke everything last night." She started to scold herself because it's obviously her fault. It's obviously a mistake that she got too engrossed with the birthday party and forgot about the dinner date she prepared for her and her wife. Blaming herself is definitely what she could do at the moment. But she seriously needs to explain it to her wife. Never in her entire life did she cheat. The pictures are clearly just trying to break them apart and clearly breaking her image to her wife.

But as she thought the pictures will be the only reasons why Seohyun is starting to doubt her, there's also a video of her and the girl, having fun in the birthday party. She was completely embarrassed and ashamed of herself when Seohyun showed it to her in their living room.

"I almost thought that wasn't my wife." Seohyun told her still very cold and obviously, she's mocking on what she did.

"Well, I don't have to deny it. But... I have to say, the events in the hotel is not my intention. I mean, I was drunk that time and this lady took advantage of it. I'm definitely innocent with the 'cheating' you're accusing to me... “She explained but all that she gets her is cold gazes. It wasn't enough for her. "I'm... deeply sorry for what happened last night. It was supposed to be our night. But this... happened..." she looked down in shame, knowing even her sorry wouldn't help. "If I could return back the time, I wouldn't have went to Min Ho's birthday party." But she still tried to fix it. "But I know I would never get back to that. So I just hope you forgive me with what happened. I promise, this will never happen anymore."

Seohyun choose to stands up. "I still have a work to attend." and left her wife like that.

Yoona lied to the couch with a long sigh. Her heart is heavy and feels like being ripped apart. But despite that, she still thinks of any way to make up with what she missed from their third Anniversary.

[End of Flashback...]

Pulling over the motorbike in front of her sister's house, Yoona pulled the helmet off of her head and took the paper bag hanging in the bike's handle before she went inside.

"Luhan-ah!!! Surprise!!!" And surprises the four year old boy, who was busy playing around with his friends in the front yard. Luhan turned around and eventually got hype, running straight towards her and she picked him up. "Happy birthday Spiderman. Did you miss your Superman Noona?" she greeted with such glee in her face.

"I know you will come. Thank you, Noona." Luhan kisses Yoona's cheeks and wraps his small arms around her neck.

"Got some presents for you." Yoona said and the little boy pulled back with a big smile in his facee. "Guess it first." she grinned, asking the little boy.

"Spiderman?" Luhan guesses excitedly.

"Hmm, Nope." Yoona however denied her nephew's first guest. "It's something that you can use for school." But she hinted.

Luhan got sadden that he was wrong. "Don't tell me it's a paper."

Yoona let out a soft chuckle. "That's too boring. You don't have any guesses anymore?"

"Pencil? Notebook? Book? or... "

"Aigoo, you are really using my hint. Here. Just open it." Yoona handed the paper bag she had been holding and put the little boy down. Luhan hastily opened the paper bag and brought out the box inside. "Open it." and since she wrapped thoroughly with a wrapper, the latter will take another minute to unwrap them. Kids are now surrounding them as Luhan started ripping the wrapper.

"You did not fail me, Yoong. Thanks for surprising my son." Comes Tiffany's voice, her sister, while latter approaches them with a big smile. She hushes her and gestures her to watch her son.

Little by little, the wrapper got ripped off... until there's only the box, which needs to be open. Luhan glances to his Auntie first and then to her mother, both are smiling, ushering him to open it already, so everyone can see what's inside. Bracing himself, he slowly opens the box, as everyone are holding their breath.

"Whoaaaa!!!" Once it was revealed, everyone around Luhan and envy and some are clapping their hands, because it's a pair of roller blades. Luhan loves the gift and hugs the two pair of roller blades.

"How did you like it, Spiderman? You can use that in going to school." Yoona grinned so wide, love the reaction from her nephew. The latter literally throws his arms around his hips, giving him a tight hug, while keeps on thanking her. "Aigoo, anything for you my spiderman." she rubs his back continuously, totally happy she made her only nephew so happy for his fifth birthday.

"Come on now! It's time for the birthday boy to blow his candle!" Mrs. Im's voice was heard from nearby, almost all the kids instantly runs towards her.

Pulling back, Luhan looked up to his Auntie. "Noona, is Seohyun Noona coming?" And asked the presence of another kind Auntie.

"Hmm... " Yoona pretended to think. "Unfortunately, she couldn't. You know she has work today, right?"

"Oh yeah, she has saturday classes too. Anyway, come on now!!! I want to blow the candle!!!"

"Yeah, yeah, after you." Yoona laughs and pushed her nephew. As soon as the latter runs away, she faces her sister and they casually give each other a bear hug. "Since you ask me to come to record your son's birthday, you owe me 50 dollars." She playfully reminds her, earning a hit on her arm, which made her giggle. She then brought her camera out and followed her sister and the others to the cake.

"Before anything else, let’s sing Luhan a happy birthday, okay?" Tiffany announces to the kids and everyone are shouting 'Yes'. "At the count of-"

"Wait! You guys can't start without me!" Everyone turned their heads when they heard a voice from behind.

"Appa!!!" But it was only Taeyeon, who just came back from her over time work. Luhan literally sprinted towards her and meet with her half way.

"Aigoo, my baby is so big now." Taeyeon have to picked up her son and immediately put her son back in front of the cake. "But let's not cut the show, okay? Now, everyone, let's sing, saeng il chuk ha ham ni da...saeng il chuk ha ham ni da~" and she automatically leaded the kids, and so as the adults around.

"Saeng il chuk ha ham ni da...saeng il chuk ha ham ni da~" Mrs. Im, the kids and so as Luhan are singing the song enthusiastically.

Yoona nudges her sister who did not sing instantly and the girl nudge her back before singing. She knows her sister was surprise with Taeyeon's sudden appearance because the latter told her she can't make it to her son's birthday party because of work. But it seems her wife really loves their son so much and she made it to the party, before even they started singing the song.

"Sarang ha neun Luhan-ah... saeng il chuk ha ham ni da~" As the song ended, everyone clap their hands, including the birthday boy, who was all smiling in front of everyone.

"Make a wish and blow the candle." Said Tiffany, as she now stands next to her, while the opposite is her wife.

Clasping her two palms, Luhan close her eyes as he makes her wish. Yoona who had been recording and capturing Luhan is smiling, as he watches the latter closely with her camera. She unconsciously suddenly remembers one person who would also close her eyes and mumble on her wish, just like Taemin is doing, it causes her heart to skips a beat.

"My wish is for us to have more more more years together~ You know, together forever~ YoonHyun will be together forever~ Amen." And then, her voice echoes her ears, it gives her chills as she reminds herself the happy days she had with her wife.

As soon as the candle was blown out, Yoona snapped out of her thoughts and instantly returned to reality.

Wifey: I think I know now how to resolve this. Let's talk tonight.

Yoona wanted to reply to her wife's text but she thought of just neglecting it.

*Ding*

The warning sound from the oven automatically made her turn around and grabs her cookies she baked. She sets it on a big plate and carefully brought it outside, wherein kids are having their meals.

"Unnie's and Noona's different shapes of cookies are here!!" She announced and everyone got excited. Like she promised for her favorite nephew, she serves the cookies to each of her friends in their table. She would constantly smile and gives each kid a hi-5 after giving them their cookies. Until she serves the last kid, her nephew, she just did not give him a hi-5, she also gives him deserving kisses all over his face, which made him happily smile while enjoying the cookies.

"What are you going to say to Yoona Unnie and Noona?" Tiffany steps in and ask the kids. Everyone yelled 'Thank You, Unnie. Thank You Noona'.

"At your service." Yoona bowed like she's a real server for kids.

"I know you don't have breakfast yet. Get some meal first before leaving." Tiffany then grabs her by her arm and drags her back inside the house. Yoona wanted to protest but her sister is persistent and she was successfully drags back to the kitchen, where Taeyeon is also waiting. She pushed down to the chair and Tiffany closed the door securely. She made sure their mother is busy talking with the kids' parents in the living room before she locks it.

"Okay, what is going on here?" Yoona blinks and looked at the two ladies quizzically.

Tiffany sat down next to her wife and nudges her to give what she finally discovers. Yoona's brows raised when she saw it. But got nothing to say when Taeyeon handed her an envelope. She simply took it and checks what's inside.

"You can finally fix it." Taeyeon told her in-law. She and Tiffany knew the deer had been keeping her problem with them. So when they find out the root of their 'cold relationship', she investigated and finally after five months, she discovered it's just Yoona's close friend who had been sending photos to her wife.

"Wow, so it was Jong Hyun. My band mate." Yoona said with a serious tone. "However, it's too late. I already admitted it to my wife that I'm a cheater." she revealed without hesitations. "And I think it's better that way - I don't have to keep on pursuing her to believe me. And whether I like it or not, we can't save this anymore. I'm sure you know we tried, right?"

"So you will just give up just like that?" Taeyeon exclaimed, punching the table unconsciously. She doesn't like what she heard from Yoona. She sounds like she gives up on Seohyun already.

"It's been five months. I don't want to end up-"

"Five months, but still has a lot of time to save it. Come on, this will change Seohyn's mind if you reveal you really did not cheat." Tiffany frustratingly tried to convince her dongseng.

"You don't know the whole story, Unnie. This won't still save us. It's just like fixing little part of our relationship, but it can't save entirely. Believe me." Yoona stated as a fact, pushing back the envelope. She can't reveal everything that happened to her sister, otherwise, the latter will not just try to convince her, she will also bothers her wife.

"Then just try." Taeyeon said, pushing back the envelope. "It's not bad at all if you try, right?" she must be mad of her in-law but she understands the girl must have some reasons behind it. "At least you have come clean. You have saved your image from the way she sees you."

"Well, you're right too, Taeyeon Unnie." Yoona sighed, taking back the envelope. "But to tell you, ever since this happened, there were no sparks between us anymore. I mean, it's like... we're back as friends - as casual friends; you know... talking like we had never fell in love with each other."

"You still love her, didn't you?"

Yoona pause and listen to her heart for at least 10 seconds... she nods slowly to confirm it. "But that's not enough to save this relationship. There's more than love for a relationship, and it's not easy to begin with...Also, everything is already broken and I can't fix it anymore. I'm just trying to get our every day, our present, to be better than yesterday."
