Eunmi’s Point of View

Hours, I had spent pondering on whether or not D.O said what I thought he said. All those times where he would act foul against me was not a sign of attraction; he did not show any signs at all!

Living with him has not been comfortable, I mean, I had to act lady-like instead of my normal less lady-like self. I had to show him how good and well-mannered I was, but turned out he had a personality much worse than my being less lady-like. He was ignorant, mean, and although he was a heartthrob, he was a snob.

But why couldn’t I still get him out of my head after knowing what he was really like?

I sat on the couch in front of the television, crossing my legs and reaching for the remote, turning the channel to KBS. They were replaying an episode of Music Bank. I watched as EXO performed their single, “Growl”.

I bobbed my head back and forth with the beat, lip syncing to the lyrics of the song. As I was having my imaginary fame moment, D.O approached the living room and saw me.

“Uhh,” he mumbled, sceptical.

I quickly switched the television to another channel and folded my arms, trying to keep my act cool and normal. Unfortunately, D.O didn’t buy it. He laughed as he walked towards the couch, sitting beside me.

I didn’t think things would feel awkward. But for the sake of my goal in getting close to D.O, I really had to keep my cool.

“So, you’re really our fan,” he said.

“Yep,” I nodded.

“And you don’t feel at all somewhat, what they call, ‘fan-girling’?”

“Nope.”

Okay, let’s be honest. I was fan-girling like crazy at that moment. I mean, I was sitting right next to Do Kyungsoo. The Do Kyungsoo, the-love-of-my-life-Kyungsoo.

Anywho, I wanted to ask him so badly about yesterday. I was still unsure whether my head was messing with me or the words ‘I like you’ really did escape his lips. I wanted the second option to be true, though. It was every fan’s dream.

“Um,” I hummed. “About yes— Ahem. I mean, do you want to do anything today? My mother’s not going to be here, well, for two weeks. So, I don’t know. Watch a movie? Go to the park or something?”

Alright, I did not know why those came from my mouth. It sounded like I wanted to ask him out on a date. D.O just blinked his eyes, looking at me. His mouth parted and was about to say something, but his phone rang.

“Hello?” He answered. “Mm-hm… Yeah… Sure, okay… I’ll be there.”

D.O’s Point of View

“Um,” She hummed. “About yes— Ahem. I mean, do you want to do anything today? My mother’s not going to be here, well, for two weeks. So, I don’t know. Watch a movie? Go to the park or something?”

She does not even know how happy I felt when she asked me that. I felt like I should have leapt with joy, but I was obviously not going to do that. I was about to answer her, but the ringing of my phone prevented me from doing so.

I answered it.

“Hello?” I said.

“Kyungsoo-ssi? This is Jokwon,, your father’s secretary.”

“Mm-hm.”

“I have been informed by your father that you are in a band. Yes?”

“Yeah.”

“He told me to send you a message, and that would be, ‘Tell my son to meet me at the office. We have matters we need to discuss.’”

“Sure, okay.”

“Be here by 1:30, Kyungsoo-ssi.”

“I’ll be there.”

I hanged up the phone. I had almost forgotten about the issue with my father’s stock at the company. Standing up from the couch, I turned back to Eunmi, who sat there observing my every move.

“Do you want to come with?” I asked her.

“Where to?” She asked, eyebrows furrowed.

“We have to stop by father’s office, then we can go grab ice cream afterwards, if you’d like.”

Eunmi’s thin lips transformed into a smile as she nodded her head, standing up to get herself ready. I watched as she skipped happily to her room and I couldn’t help but man-giggle at her cuteness. Man-giggle? Yes. Because real men don’t giggle alone, they man-giggle. Giggling alone are for girls.

Anyway, I went to the guest room and got changed, too. I looked at the clock hanging on the wall and it was 12:55pm.

When we arrived, my father’s secretary was waiting for me by the lobby. He walked towards me with a smile, but when he saw Eunmi standing behind me, his smile turned into a frown.

“Who is that?” He asked me.

“This is Eunmi, she’s—” I paused, smirking as an idea came to mind. I continued, “I mean, this my girlfriend.”

Eunmi’s eyes turned wide as she stared at me. Oh, that cute face of hers.

“I’m afraid that she cannot come,” secretary Jokwon said.

“Look, just take me to my father, alright?” I snapped at him, taking him by surprise.

Third person’s Point of View

D.O and Eunmi followed Jokwon to D.O’s father’s office. They stopped in front of a huge see-through door, Mr. Do visible in sight. He felt stares being sent to his direction and so, he looked up and he found D.O, Eunmi and his secretary. Mr. Do signalled for them to enter.

“Kyungsoo-ya,” his father spoke. “How are you?”

“I’m fine,” D.O answered.

“Well, sit down, the two of you.” He noticed Eunmi and rephrased. “Three of you.”

“What is it that you brought me here?” D.O asked.

“The company’s in a crisis as you would have already heard. The stocks are decreasing and you know well that we cannot let that happen. So, I am going to have to ask you for a favour.”

D.O’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, staring at his father with anticipation for him to continue. He would have never thought of his father to be a person to ask for favours.

“A favour? What is it?”

“Actually, it is your band that I am asking a favour from. Since you are a popular boy band, I was thinking that maybe you six could work at some of the stores we have. You know? To attract young customers, as I am aware they would spend hundreds and hundreds for products that you boys have held.”

Right then, Eunmi couldn’t help but giggle at D.O’s father’s favour. It seemed ridiculous to have EXO-K working at a normal store.

Mr. Do turned to her.

“Is there something funny, young lady?” He asked her.

“I-I’m so sorry, it’s just that I can’t imagine EXO-K working at stores,” she replied.

“Hm. And who are you?” Mr. Do asked her firmly, the atmosphere suddenly turning awkward.

Eunmi looked into his eyes and saw the seriousness in them. She gulped and her heart started to beat a little faster than usual. She felt nervous all of a sudden.

“My name’s Eunmi, sir,” she said.

“Full name?” He elaborated.

“Jung Eunmi, sir.”

“’Jung’?” Mr. Do asked, his face turning less serious as if the name has earned a soft spot in him.

“What’s wrong?” D.O asked his father, but he did reply to him and instead pushed on with the topic.

“Y-Your mother doesn’t happen to be Soo Yeon, right?”

Eunmi stood up as she stared at Mr. Do, wondering on how in the world he knew about her mother. She was no longer nervous, but was now feeling extremely confused and puzzled. Without even noticing it, she was slowly walking towards his desk. Jokwon tried to grab her arm but he was too far from her.

“H-How did you know?” she asked him.

D.O and Jokwon anticipated for Mr. Do to reply. D.O stared at his father, also surprised as to why he knew of Eunmi’s mother. Suddenly, he felt betrayed; betrayed because there were things that he did not know about.

“Answer her!” D.O shouted.

Jokwon and Mr. Do jumped back in shock.

“I-I think you both have to leave,” Mr. Do told them.

“No! You have to tell me,” Eunmi urged, but she was already being taken by Jokwon.

Eunmi tried to escape his grasp, but he was too strong for her. Although Eunmi was a struggle to get rid of, D.O, however, stood up from his seat slowly and glared at his father.

“This right here,” he gestured, “Is not over.”

D.O then headed for the exit.
