Allyson POV

It was Thursday morning; I walked towards the back of the classroom settled down in my desk.  There was still some time until class started so I plugged in my earbuds and tugged on my hood before resting my head on the desk.

This was my everyday routine. While everybody else chatted to their friends about their fantastic weekend or busy making out with their boyfriends I would just sit quietly in the back trying to block everything out.

I didn’t have any friends except for BoA who was always late. However I don’t mind my suburban life. I like staying in the shadows and out of people’s way. I was the typical nerd in the class, baggie clothes, thick framed glasses, and straight A’s. The only difference was that I was an invisible nerd, invisible to the point where most people will look straight at me and not notice me because I am just that dull. It’s not a bad thing. It protects me from being picked on.

The bell rang but I didn’t have any plans on removing my earbuds until someone did it for me and whispered loudly in my ear.

“Yah, wake up sleepyhead! Class is starting.”

I unplugged my ipod, “Hey, you’re actually on time for once.”

“Uh… I actually slipped in one second after the bell.”

“That’s still a massive improvement, considering that it’s you.”

“I know right!” I watched my best friend smile proudly, truly happy at her improvement. I slowly felt a small smile slide on to my lips.

“So, what’s the occasion?” I asked.

“Uh… nothing? Can’t I just be punctual for once?”

“Kwon BoA.” I emphasized every syllable in her name.

“Okay fine you caught me. I heard that there’s a new guy coming to our school,” BoA smiled dreamily.

I almost laughed, “So? You never paid attention to newbies before.”  

BoA gasped dramatically, (oh yeah did I mention that she was in the drama club?) “How dare you call him a newbie?”

I blinked, “He’s new.” Duh I silently added.

“Newbie is a term used for a helplessly lost student with no skill to survive on his or her own in a new environment.” BoA explained all seriously.

I leaned my elbow on the desk and held my head up wanting her to go on. All this somehow amused me.

“The person coming here isn’t a newbie because clearly newbies are clueless…”

“Yeah, yeah your point is…” I urged her.

BoA took a deep breath while fanning herself, “Are you ready?”

“More than ever…” I mumbled. Maybe this wasn’t so entertaining after all.

BoA giggled and squealed in a high pitch voice, “The new student is the Captain of the International Fencing Team Jackson Wang!” 

BANG!

A sharp surge of pain hit my forehead and then I out.
