I really need to get out of this habit of updating early in the morning.

I guess I'm so used to it from school, having to stay up late for homework and such.

I can't even go to sleep early...I just lay there awake.

Dear Journal,                                                                                                                                                                                      1/4/12

            I just got home from the orphanage, which means that I got the first thing on my to-do list done! It was a lot of fun, volunteering.  I got to make many children happy today, and in the process made myself happy as well.

            I met many lovely children, and got to go back to the past for a little while.  I don’t think I’ve played house since first grade, but playing it again, this time as the ‘mom’ was nice.  I think the girls had fun as well. Young Mi, Soo Jung, Ha Na, Mi Kyoung, Eun Jung, and Sun Kyu were all adorable when they got excited.  I need to bring my camera next time.

            After playing house, Jin Ki (who was playing blocks and Legos with the boys) and I got together to read stories to the children.  Since there were so many requests, we decided to read them all.  After that, we had dinner and then went home. Thinking about it makes me happy, and with that in mind, I know I’ll have to pay another visit soon.

            Well, it is getting late, so I suppose I should get ready for bed.  I do have school tomorrow after all.  I shall try to write soon, and hopefully it will be another task off the list.

Kang Yun Hee

Dear Journal,                                                                                                                                                                                        1/4/12

            I’ve never really paid attention to little children before, but maybe that’s because I don’t have any siblings, nor have I been in many situations that have required me to deal with small toddlers.  Today was probably the first for me, since I tagged along with Yun Hee to visit the orphanage that she was volunteering at in place of her friend.  All I can say that it was a very new, but interesting, and an enjoyable experience for me.  I have to come back again next time Yun Hee wants to volunteer.

            I mostly spent my time with the boys, since the girls were enamored with Yun Hee while playing house.  It was fun still, since I remember playing with blocks and Legos when I was a child, and simply showed them what I used to build.  I think they were impressed, since they wanted to do it themselves afterward, and even asked me for help.

            After they were tired playing blocks, their attention was drawn to the books and stories that Yun Hee was being asked to read.  They all gathered toward the sofa where see was sitting and settled around her feet.  I took my spot next to Yun Hee and helped her read as well.  Once we were done with all the books, dinner was served.

            We left afterward, since this is a school night, and we still have to get enough sleep for class.  Overall, I thoroughly was happy with this opportunity, and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.  I’ll write again later.

Lee Jin Ki

Waking up the next day, everything that happened the night before felt like a dream.  Sitting up, I smoothed down my hair and let out a yawn, stretching before getting out of bed and reaching for my hand phone.  It suddenly vibrated, telling me I had a new text message. Checking the screen, I saw that it was from Jin Ki.

- Good morning jagiya! I hope it’s a good one.  I’ll be seeing you soon.

P.S. I love you ^^

Smiling, I read the message again, confirming that the events of the yesterday did indeed happen.  Pressing reply, I sent him a message back.

- Morning to you too! And I love you as well <3

I was suddenly giddy and skipped my way around the room and to the bathroom as I was getting ready. Once I had finished, I made my way downstairs to get some breakfast before making my way out of the house toward Jin Ki’s waiting car. Seeing me walk toward the car, Jin Ki got out of the car and met me halfway. He opened his arms and I willingly made my way into them, wrapping my arms around his neck as his went around my waist.

“Good morning oppa.”

He kissed me before pulling back and grinning.

“Hmm, it is a good morning.”

Smiling back, I pulled away.

“It is, but as much as I’d like to stay here, I think we had better go to school now or else we’ll be late.”

“As always, you’re right.”

With a peck on the cheek, he turned around to open the door for me before going over to his side.

Arriving at school, Jin Ki walked me to my locker as he always did. Opening my locker, a piece of paper fell onto the ground.  Seeing it flutter down, Jin Ki bent to pick it up as I took out my Calculus textbook.  After closing the locker, I turned to Jin Ki to find that he had a grim look on his face.

“What is it?”

“Looks like your stalkers are at it again.”

“They are?”

He handed me the note, frowning.  I looked at him before reading it

You thought we were gone, didn’t you?

Well, you’re wrong about that.

Better keep watching your back, not that any good will come out of it.

I felt my face grow pale.  I knew that they were still scheming, despite not doing anything for awhile. Now that I knew they were back, I couldn’t help feel scared.

Jin Ki seeing my face pulled me into his chest, holding me tight.

“It’s all right.  You have protection remember? You’ll be safe, I promise.  Nothing will happen to you.”

“I hope so.  I don’t think I could handle it again.”

I could sense the determination in his voice as he spoke again.

“It won’t.”

Sighing, I pulled away and looked at him gratefully, my lips forcing a smile despite my fear.

“Gomawo oppa.  I appreciate it.”

“That’s what I’m here for, right? A source of support for you.”

“Neh.”

He smiled reassuringly and grasped my hand.

“Come on, let’s get you to class before anything else happens.”

Nodding, I followed him, hoping what he said would be true.

The rest of the day came and went normally, well, as normally as it could get ever since the beginning of the week.  People were still trying to pull pranks on me, but it was of a lesser degree.  I think Jin Ki’s look had a part in that.  The glares were still there, but I had grown used to it.  I simply ignored them and went about my own way, conversing with my friends and Jin Ki’s.   When it was time to go home, Jin Ki took me as usual. When I stepped out of the car, I saw Umma working in the garden. She rose as she saw the car pull up and smiled, walking out.

“You’re home already Yun Hee ya? Time does fly by!”

I smiled as I kissed her cheek and then jokingly said:

“You sound like you’re not happy to see me home.”

“Of course I’m happy honey. Why would you think otherwise?”

“Arasso Umma.”

And then she turned to Jin Ki, practically beaming.

“Jin Ki is also here as well! Come here dear.”

And she pulled Jin Ki into a warm hug, standing back to look at him and then frowning.

“You haven’t been visiting lately young man.”

“He was just here for Christmas Umma.”

“But that has passed a long time ago!”

Jin Ki chuckled as he listened to Umma.

“Eomonim, I can stay today if it will make you happier.”

“Perfect! But…will your parents be all right with it?”

“Coincidently, they’re actually overseas in Japan right now.  I believe they are working on a business merger.”

“Ah, busy as ever hmm?”

“They’ll be back by the end of the week.  Umma invited Yun Hee to dinner afterall.”

Umma turned to me with surprise on her face.

“Why didn’t you tell me anything about that?”

“I guess it slipped my mind?”

To say that was a little more than an exageration.  I just forgot to tell Umma, but the thought of the upcoming dinner never really left my mind.

“Make sure you tell me next time, arasso?”

“Deh Umma.”

“Well, you two run along and get your homework done then.  No funny play up there!”

She stared sternly at the both of us, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Umma, you know we take homework seriously. Kot chong ba.”

He expression softened before nodding.

“Ara.  Now go! I have to finish this garden work before making dinner.”

“Deh!”

Smiling, I led Jin Ki into the house, slipping off my shoes and going to get a pair of slippers for him.  He smiled as I came back and pecked me on the cheek before following me further into the house.

“We don’t have much to do today, right?”

“No, just outline chapter 39 in Biology, start on Heart of Darkness in English, and 25 problems in Calculus.”

I frowned as we entered my room. I set my bag on the table before getting out the needed materials.

“Hmm, that sounds like a lot right now.”

“I’m sure you’ll have it done in no time. You always do things efficiently when you’re in the zone.  I would know.”

“You do?”

“Yeah, I can’t even kiss you.”

I looked over at him to see him pouting and couldn’t help but smile.

“Sorry oppa. You know me too well.”

“Yeah, well, I guess I just have to do this before you go all serious on me.”

And Jin Ki smiled mischievously before pulling me in for a kiss. Moments later, I pulled back for some air and scolded him. He simply grinned as I turned back to take out my book for the English reading. In turn, Jin Ki took out his Calculus textbook first.

“You’re not doing math first? Don’t you always do that?”

“Yeah, but not today.  I feel slow when I’m doing the same thing as you.”

I made my way over to my bed before settling down to read.  He shrugged his shoulders as he sat down at my desk to start on math.

I was a fast reader, and got the required number of pages done quickly.  When I closed my book, I looked up at Jin Ki still working on Calculus.  I liked this side of him, focused and concentrated on a task.  Quietly, I reached for my camera on the nightstand and took a shot of him.

I didn’t use any flash since there was enough light in the room, and Jin Ki still didn’t notice.  Looking at the picture I took, I smiled. 

When I shifted my gaze back to Jin Ki, I saw he had finished and was staring at me with a smile on his face.

“Wae?”

“Nothing, just looking at you.”

Grinning, I lifted my camera up and took another photo of him. This time, there was flash, and it caught Jin Ki by surprise.

“Why are you taking pictures of me?”

“Why not? Pictures are keepsakes of memories.”

I stood up and walked toward my desk, setting down my book.  Now that that was done, I decided to tackle the math homework. Putting down the camera as well, I dug through my bag for a pencil and notebook.

“Is the math hard? I was a bit confused with the lesson today.”

“It’s relatively simple once you get the hang of it. I'm here if you need help.”

“Arasso.”

Going back to my bed, I opened the textbook and sprawled onto my stomach, beginning the work.  Jin Ki was right.  There was a method to solving the limits, and once you had the hang of it, the others became easy.  I was so engrossed that I wasn’t aware of anything, at least not until Jin Ki made his way over to me and sat down on the bed.

“Jagiya.”

“Hmm?”

I looked up surprised to see a flash of a camera before point my gaze to Jin Ki.

“Oppa, I wasn’t even ready for the picture!”

“That was the point, and besides, you look fine all the time.”

I sat up and held out my hand for the camera.

“Let me see.  I want to delete it if it looks bad.”

“No.”

“Oppa!”

“Take another one then.”

I humphed before nodding reluctantly.  What surprised me even more was that Jin Ki pulled me toward him and placed a kiss on my cheek while he pointed the camera at us, taking the picture.

He smiled as he pulled back and looked at the picture.

“You’re so kyeopta jagiya!”

“Oppa, I wasn’t ready again,” I pouted.

“Just look, you look perfectly fine.”

He faced the camera screen toward me to take a look.  Looking at it, I decided I didn’t look too bad.  In fact, the picture looked sweet, like the couple in the screen was really happy. Jin Ki kept scrolling through the pictures and I found out he was sneaking shots of me while I was doing homework.  I shot him an accused look, but he simply smiled.

“You know I like it when you’re focused, right?”

“I thought you didn’t because I was too busy to give you affection?”

“That may be true, but I still like that side of you.  Besides, you pouting in concentration is the cutest thing ever.”

I blushed when he said that, and tried to go back to my Calculus homework.  I only had one problem left, but once again, a camera flash drew me out of my zone.

“Oppa! Go finish your homework.”

He got off the bed and put his hands up in surrender.

“Arasso, arasso.  Oppa is going now.”

I was already working on the last problem but decided to spoil him.

“Love you oppa.”

“Love you too.”

And so we went back to our work, the silence filling the room once again.
