Previous Chapter:

“Jin Ki,” Umma said. “Are you going to stay with us till Christmas morning?”

Eyes wide, Yun Ho oppa and I turned to look at Umma. Did she just invite Jin Ki oppa to stay the night?

“Well, I assumed that I would be going home sometime after dinner,” Jin Ki oppa replied.

“Deh, Umma. He doesn’t have to stay the night,” Yun Ho said with a bit of bite to his words.

“Nonsense! We have extra rooms, and I see no problem in letting him stay the night. After all, he brought presents for the all of us, and I think he would want to stay to see our reactions to them, don’t you?”

Jin Ki nodded.

“Deh, but are you sure I can stay?”

“Keu reom nyo! Won’t it be all right yeobo?”

Appa thought for a little while before nodding.

“I don’t see anything wrong with it. As long as Jin Ki is fine with it, then I’ll consent.”

“Perfect. Well then Jin Ki?”

“If no one objects, then I’d be happy to stay.”

“Umma! Appa!”

Yun Ho cried out, begging with his eyes to make them change their decision.

“Yun Ho dear, there is no need to shout at the table. We can all hear you.”

I sniggered as Yun Ho’s attempt was shot down. He silently fumed as he continued eating his dinner. I looked over at Jin Ki and smiled as his eyes met mine. He grinned as well, and dinner finished without any other events.

Korean Vocabulary:

Museun malinji: What's wrong?

Chaebal: Please (in a pleading/begging manner)

After dinner, Jin Ki volunteered to do the dishes.

“Eomonim, I’ll do the dishes.”

Umma stood up, protesting.

“Aniyo! How can we make our guest do the dishes? Yun Ho, be a dear and do the dishes, will you?”

“Umma, he volunteered to do it. Don’t you think you should let him?”

Yun Ho oppa said in an overly sweet voice. I could tell this was his plan of revenge for being forced to allow Jin Ki to stay the night. Jin Ki simply smiled and turned to Appa.

“Abeonim, why don’t you and Eomonim take a rest in the living room by the fire. I’ll take care of the dishes. Gwen cha nayo.”

“Well, that sounds like a good idea. Yun Ho, why don’t you come with us. You never finished telling us that story about your dorm friend," said Appa.

“Appa, keun dae..!”

“Come along Yun Ho. I’d also like to hear the end of that story,” Umma said, before dragging Yun Ho along into the living room with Appa. When they all left, Jin Ki breathed a sigh of relief, and started to help me put away the left-overs, gathering the dirty dishes afterward.

“Man, it’s going to be a lot harder getting hyung’s approval…”

I walked up behind him and hugged him.

“Gwen cha na. I know you’ll somehow find a way to win him over.”

He turned around and hugged me back.

“I have the rest of tonight and all tomorrow to do that, right?”

“Keu sae. I can’t believe my parents invited you to stay the night.”

“Me neither. Luckily, I always keep a clean set of clothes in my car, in case something happens.”

“You seem prepared,” I said, giggling.

“More or less. Let’s start on those dishes, before your oppa comes back.”

“Arasso.”

And so we began to wash the dishes. The room was filled with the sound of dishes being scrubbed and rinsed.

“Oppa.”

“Hmm?”

“Can you sing me a song? I haven’t heard you sing since the time you asked me to be your yeoja chingu.”

“What do you want me to sing?”

“Mm, anything is fine. Maybe a Christmas Carol, since it is Christmas Eve.”

He pondered for a little bit before singing ‘Last Christmas’. I listened happily as I continued to rinse the dishes and then dry them, setting them on the rack. He finished singing as I laid the last dish on the rack. Hanging up the towel to dry, I turned to him as he took off the rubber gloves.

“That was nice oppa.”

“Ara. You don’t need to tell me that.”

“Sure, but that was kind of a sad song.”

“I guess, but you’re playing the part of someone special.”

“Chincha?”

“Of course! Who else would?”

“I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one. Kaja, I’m sure my parents are waiting for us.”

Taking his hand, I led him to the living room, where everyone else was. Upon entering, I could feel Yun Ho oppa’s stares on our connected hands. There was an empty loveseat across from where Yun Ho and Umma were sitting (Appa was in the armchair), and that was where we decided to sit.

“You’re finished with the dishes already?”

“Deh Eomonim.”

“Perfect. It is getting quite late, so why don’t we take care of your sleeping accommodations now. There’s an empty room across the hall from Yun Hee, so you can have that room. Do you need anything? I know asking you to stay over was a little of short notice.”

“Deh, I have clothes to change into, but I don’t have any toiletries.”

“Well, I’m sure Yun Ho can provide you with those, can’t you dear?”

Umma turned to Yun Ho, whos face was priceless. Of course, being the son who couldn’t refuse his parents, he nodded grimly

“Great. Let me go get the room ready for you. Good night everyone.”

Umma went upstairs, followed my Appa to get Jin Ki’s room ready. Jin Ki left to get his change of clothes, leaving Yun Ho and me in the living room alone. When he saw that Jin Ki had left, Yun Ho hurried to my side and turned me toward him.

“Yun Hee!”

“Deh, oppa?”

“You must lock your door tonight, arasso? You have to take extra precautions so that you’ll be safe. Do you understand?”

I pushed his hands off of my shoulders, glaring at him.

“Oppa! Jin Ki would never do anything to harm me, so you’d better get your mind out of the gutter now, before I hurt you!”

“Yun Hee! How can you be so ignorant? Jin Ki is a man too, and this is a perfect opportunity for him to—”

“Oppa! Keum man ha ja, chaebal! He would never do that to me.”

Just then, Jin Ki came back into the house and walked into the house.

“Museun malinji?”

“Nothing oppa. Let me show you to your room,” I said, all the while glaring at Yun Ho.

Getting up from my seat, I walked around Yun Ho and led Jin Ki upstairs to his room. Thanking me, he went inside and closed the door to change. I did my nightly routine before going out to the hallway. Yun Ho was currently taking his turn in the bathroom. When I looked up, Jin Ki had also gone out of his room. Smiling, he walked up to me and gave me a hug, holding me in his arms.

“You know, you still owe me a kiss.”

“I know, but I never had a chance to give it to you. An eagle has been watching us all night.”

“Well, he’s not here right now….”

Chuckling, I got his hint and stood on my toes, pecking Jin Ki on the lips before pulling back.

“There. I don’t want to take any risks.”

“Arasso, but you owe me a real one tomorrow.”

He grinned before kissing me on the forehead and bid me goodnight before retreating into his room for the night. Smiling, I did so as well. A couple of minutes later, I heard my door open. Sitting up, I squinted my eyes and made out Yun Ho oppa, who decided to lay on the floor near my door.

“Oppa?”

“I’m not taking any risks tonight. Go back to sleep Yun Hee.”

I scowled and threw a pillow at Yun Ho before going back to sleep. I was too tired to do anything right now, but he was for sure going to hear from me in the morning.

onsangtae: Interesting prediction. I was goin to have that happen, but I guess you know that it didn't. I figured that Yun Ho would be more comfortable in Yun Hee's room rather than Jin Ki's xD
