Flashback  (Jonghyun and Yoona)

Few months ago…

A day after Yoona met and had talked to Jonghyun’s parents and her ‘weird unforgettable’ overnight stay on Jonghyun’s room…that night she and Jonghyun seriously talk about their so-called ‘uncontrollable situation’…they both decided to just go back immediately to Seoul.

So that they can go back and continue with their usual lives normally and freely…free especially from Jonghyun parent’s antics…oh well, perhaps maybe just from his mother.

Jonghyun parent’s allowed them to live in Seoul, because they promised them that they would always go back to Busan anytime when they were needed for their engagement and wedding preparations.

So, they went back to Seoul…both back to their normal lives…separately.

Yoona on her own apartment and her regular job…While Jonghyun to his usual life there…and to Yejin.

Jonghyun’s Condotel Room…

Last night was an addition to the sleepless nights he had endured since his parents decided to turn his life upside down. He ran his hands through his hair.  He was exhausted and every muscle in his body screamed in annoyance.

‘Ahhhh…babo…babo…babo-yah Jonghyun! Why would you agree to get married? Jinjia! It already killing me…just to think I’m going to trap on that stupid idea. Aish!’  He thought annoyingly.

Then minutes later, he felt his empty stomach…he needs to eat.  And as he was walking towards his kitchen, his phone rang.

"Yeboseyo." He answered after the second ring.

"Y-yoboseyo…I  ahhh…j-just want to remind you about tomorrow, remember our deal at my parents house? I’ll see you before lunch okay? I’m already here since yesterday after work."  Yoona’s nervous voice was heard on the other line.

"Ahhh, deh…ahrasso. I’ll be there tomorrow before lunch then..." Jonghyun simply replies to her.

“Okay.  I will text you the exact address after we talked.” Yoona told him.

“Deh…bye.” Jonghyun replied as they hanged up.

Yoona’s parents house…

That night…

Yoona keeps on rolling on her bed that night.

She was engaged? In an instant!  She couldn’t believe it or seem to stop marveling at that thought. More than that, she couldn’t believe she was engaged to the one person like Jonghyun for the most but never thought she could have. This was like a dream… or a nightmare?

‘Ahhh...whatever! I will do this with purpose anyway…’ She thought.

But then Yoona still had still one problem….she had no idea how to break the news to her parents. And she told Jonghyun he will be meeting them tomorrow before lunch.

Jonghyun had told her that he wanted to meet her parents first so that he could formally ask them for her hand in marriage. Even though their marriage will be just a fake as they both knew…but still her parents didn’t know that…so they still need to undergo on the traditional way…and that is to formally meet, talk and ask her parents hand before engagement and marriage.

Although she was sure this was also going to be a shock for them for they knew that she never had a boyfriend. Certainly she will not tell them the real reason for the marriage…because she doesn’t want them to be guilty or worry…she just want the best for them.

Yoona sighed as she thought about her dilemma. She had to inform them about Jonghyun before he’ll visit tomorrow. She had no choice…she had to tell them now…

Yoona, left her room and headed towards the living room where her parents were watching television. She settled on the old sofa and watched T.V. with them for a few minutes as she decided on how to disclose the news to them.

"Omma, Appa." Yoona finally spoke up. She couldn’t help but gulped nervously.

"What is it Yoona?" Her mother asked as she turned away from the television to look at her daughter.

"W-we’re having a g-guest tomorrow for l-lunch."  Yoona said as she fiddled nervously with the buttons of her blouse.

"Jinjia?  And who would that be?" Her mother asked as she lifted her eyebrows in surprise.

"Oh, a friend of mine. D-deh…c-chingu…."  Yoona said nervously.

"W-what the occasion tomorrow, it’s not your birthday right? Or have you promoted to your job by any chance?"  Yoona’s father finally joined their conversation. He too had a curious look on his face.

"Ahh…Hmm…"  Yoona was lost for words.

"Is it a boy?" Her mother asked, her eyes sparkling with interest.

"Omma!"  Yoona exclaimed her face blushing.

"Well, tell us." Her father prodded.

"S-sort of." Yoona mumbled.

"Hmn?"  Her mother said as she had a surprised look on her face.

"What do you mean? Is he gay?" She added.

"No! Omma…"  Yoona exclaimed in alarm.

She gave a defeated sigh.  She’s so sure…Jonghyun would kill her if her parents thought that he was gay…he’s a heartthrob…a cassanova…of course he’s not a gay!

"Deh, he’s a boy." She admitted.

Her mother’s eyes lighted up as soon as she heard Yoona’s admission.

"Ah, so tell me. Is he your boyfriend?" She asked excitedly.

A blush of pink stained Yoona’s cheeks.

"Can we just talk about this tomorrow Omma, Appa? I just want you to know that we’re expecting someone tomorrow."  Yoona said to them for she still had enough courage to tell them.

"Ohhh, you’re killing me Yoona!" Her mother exclaimed in frustration.

"Calm down Yeobo, no need to be impatient. We’ll find out tomorrow." Her father assured her mother.

"Ahrasso."  Yoona’s mother finally agreed.

"But…Is he married?" Her mother couldn’t help but ask.

"Omma!" Yoona yelled out. Her mother could be so persistent at times.

"Ahrasso, ahrasso… tomorrow then." Her mother finally relented.

Yoona sighed.

Jonghyun will be in for a surprise tomorrow she thought.

Seoul

Back to Jonghyun’s Room…

It was late in the evening as Jonghyun entered his condotel room in Seoul.  He couldn’t sleep as he thought about the weird day he and Yoona would be having tomorrow.

He was going to meet her parents during lunch. He had to admit that he was extremely nervous and he needed his friends to assure him that everything will be alright. It’s his very first and only time he’ll do something like this….which by the way he never imagined that he will actually do something like this in his entire life.

Then he decided to call Yonghwa…because he knows…of all his best friends…he was the only one who will understand his problem…for he is already married…plus he’s the one suggested Yoona for him.

"Yoboseyo, Oh! Jonghyunnie!" Yonghwa greeted him on the other line.

"Yoboseyo, I hope I didn’t disturb you … on your honeymoon… I just want to ask you for something…"  Jonghyun told him.

"No, of course not…Seohyun is in the bathroom now…taking a bath….and what is it that you want to ask me huh Jonghyunnie?" Yonghwa replied.

Just then Jonghyun begun to tell him everything happened to him…about Yoona…and about their upcoming sudden wedding…and about their agreement…and lastly about Yejin…as in everything.

"Whoa! So, you finally considered the flat chest girl that you you’re not even type as your prospective wife huh? Nice choice… Congratulations! Bro! You’re finally getting married too…" Yonghwa’s playfully said to him.

"Ahhh…Bro, Jinjia!"  Jonghyun prompted impatiently.

“Ahrasso…ahrasso…just kidding…so, what exactly your problem then…when you and Yoona already had your agreement and even you girlfriend now, Yejin knew about it too?” Yonghwa asked in curiosity.

"Well, I’m meeting her parents tomorrow." Jonghyun admitted.

"Whoa! That is going to be interesting."  Yonghwa told him.

"I’m actually at a loss. I have no idea how to go about it. This is my very first time you know…" Jonghyun said to Yonghwa.

"Hey, Bro…don’t worry, I’m sure Yoona will help and support you there…I’m sure everything will turn out well. Just bring some presents to her parents…like…maybe flowers or a cake or a fruits for her mother and a box of cigars maybe or wait…a new fishing kit for her father…since Seohyun told me before that her father is a fisherman. Hey, most importantly…be polite, respectful and just be yourself…and that’s it…I think."  Yonghwa suggested.

"Ahrasso…okay I can do that…thank you for your time and advise Bro…at least I know now what to do tomorrow…” Jonghyun told Yonghwa.

“That’s nothing…so, good luck for tomorrow and regards to Yoona…” Yonghwa replies to him.

“Okay, Bro…Say hi for me to Seohyun too …and… enjoy your stay there and be sure to bring a very good news to the whole family once you gets back here…ahrasso?” Jonghyun playfully told him.

“Deh, deh…Ahrasso…Hyung-nim!” Yonghwa playfully replied.

“Aish! Hyung-nim your face!” Jonghyun playfully said to him too.

And with that they hanged up.

 Jonghyun felt relieved.

He knew that only Yonghwa really understood what he was going through for he’s been there too before…not exactly the same situation…but at least it’s kind the same.

Yoona’s Parent House…

The next day, at exactly eleven thirty in the morning, Jonghyun was standing at the doorstep of Yoona’s parent’s house with a big bouquet of flowers in his one hand and in other hand and a box of cigars. Then on the floor on his side a basket of different fruits, a box of cake and another box some fishing tools for his father.

He had to admit that it was important for him to make a good impression to Yoona’s parents. In the end, he settled on wearing his usual clothes, a light mint green long sleeves polo and a pair of black jeans and a comfortable white sneakers…then styled his hair just like he always did.  He decided that it was best to present himself as who he really is.

With a pounding heart and trembling hands, Jonghyun reached out and knocked at the door. After a few minutes the door opened and revealed an anxious Yoona.

He was surprised that instead of inviting him in Yoona stepped out and closed the door behind her.

"What’s wrong?" Jonghyun asked in concern.

"I just want to warn you before you enter…."  Yoona remarked.

Jonghyun gulped nervously at her comment.

"They don’t know you." Yoona admitted.

"I haven’t told them about you yet at all until now. They don’t even know that you’re my fiancée. I’m sure that this will be a shock for them so I want you to brace yourself…okay?" Yoona try to explain and whispered to him.

"Will your father chase me with a gun or with an axe if he finds out?" Jonghyun asked as he felt his palms sweating in fear.

"Ani, aneyo…no, nothing like that." Yoona assured him.

"They might have a different reaction though. I don’t know…at least be ready…ahrasso?" Yoona added.

Jonghyun took a deep breath.

"Ahrasso…Ahrasso…I’ll take my chances." Jonghyun said.

"Okay, don’t say later… that I didn’t warn you."  Yoona said as she opened the door and ushered Jonghyun inside.

Duguen…

Duguen…

Duguen…

Once inside, Jonghyun spotted Yoona’s parents sitting on the couch in the living room waiting for them. They had a blank look on their faces and this made Jonghyun very, very nervous. Yoona took his hand and led him inside the room.

‘Oh! No! I didn’t know…this is so scary!’ Jonghyun thought in his nervousness.

"Appa, Omma, I ahhh…w-would…like you to m-meet my f-friend…Seo Jonghyun"   Yoona started to say stutters.

"Seo Jonghyun?"  Yoona mother interrupted. She had a stunned look on her face as she rose slowly from her seat.

"A- Annyeonghaseyo!"  Jonghyun greeted as he gave ninety degrees bowed towards Yoona’s parents. He was thankful that Yoona was holding his arm or he would have collapsed in his nervourness.

"You are Seo Jonghyun, do you know perhaps or how are you related to the Seo’s…that wealthy and famous family in Busan?"  Yoona’s mother asked in curiosity.

“Ahhh, they’re my family…I’m actually, their middle child, youngest son…” Jonghyun nodded to confirm her inquiry.

“Jinjia?” Her mother said in her surprised face.

"Is that so? Then you belong to the richest…to the high society…How do you know our daughter, Yoona?" Her father asked. He had a surprised look on his face as well.

Yoona couldn’t believe what she heard…she didn’t know her parents were quiet familiar with the famous and rich families in the country.  Well, on the other hand…it’s not that big deal she thought …for sometimes they were on the business pages of the newspaper and business segments too on the TV news…

"W-we met through Seohyun, my younger sister, Sir. They were officemates and friends."  Jonghyun explained.

"And you’ve been friends for a long time too?"  Yoona’s mother asked.

"Ahhh…d-deh, but not that long Mam…but we’ve quiet known each other now…." Jonghyun replied.

Yoona’s mother shot an accusing stare at her daughter. She could not believe that her daughter had managed to keep such important information from her.  Yoona looked down, refusing to meet her mother’s eyes.

"Oh! Why don’t you take a seat Jonghyun? I apologize for having forgotten our manners. This came quite as a surprise for us. You see, Yoona never mentioned you at all." Yoona’s father explained.

"Oh, no problem…I understand, Sir." Jonghyun replied.

“And these all for you, Mam, Sir…” Jonghyun said as he set the bouquet of flowers, the box of cake, the basket of fruits, the cigar box and the other box on the table and took a seat in one of the couches.

"Thank you…this is too many…but you don’t need to bring these though.  So, what brings you here Jonghyun?" Yoona’s mother asked curiously.

Jonghyun took a deep breath. He glanced at Yoona and saw the look of panic in her eyes.

He reached out and took her hand in his.

‘Whew! This is it! The moment of truth! Ottoke? Ottoke?’  Jonghyun thought as he closed his eyes for seconds and once again took a deep breathe...

"Well, Sir, Mam…I… ahhh….I… ahhh…I’m…h-here to ask for your d-daughter’s hand in m-marriage."  Jonghyun announced as he tightened his grip on Yoona’s hand.

Silent…

Dugeun duguen…

Silent…

Dugeun duguen…

The room was silent as soon as Jonghyun made the announcement. Jonghyun looked nervously at Yoona’s parents as they sat there unmoving.

Jonghyun’s heart pounded like crazy against his chest. Should he make a run for it now? He wondered.

Finally her father breaks the silence…

“And what comes to your mind that you want to get married to our daughter?  You know we’re just poor, unknown to the society and certainly not going to be a big help to your companies? Are your parents aware of this or about Yoona? Are they going to accept uri Yoona as they daughter-in-law? Are they accepting poor people like us? Aren’t the people on your status only deal with the same status as yours?” Yoona’s father asked Jonghyun.

Jonghyun looked straight at him and smiled.

“Sir, regardless of our status in the society…we’re not that kind of person…we do not choose our friends, acquaintances and companions just because of their status in life…because for us every person deserve to be respect and treated fairly…regardless of what’s their status in life…because after all we’re all just the same as human being …that was the value that our parents thought us. And as long as we’re happy and live the right path in life…our parents will also happy for us.  And as per Yoona…they’re already met and talked to her…and they told me that they like her too. So, I guess no need to worry about that Sir…” Jonghyun smilingly told Yoona’s father as he took the heaviest sighed in his life…so far.

Yoona’s father…looked and smiled back at him with a relieved face, obviously he was so happy about Jonghyun’s statement.

Silent…

Silent…

Silent…

After a few minutes, Yoona’s mother slowly rose from her seat and made her way towards Jonghyun.

Jonghyun had difficult time breathing. ‘Oh! No! Was she going to slap me?’ He thought nervously.

As soon as she was within reach, Yoona’s mother grabbed him and engulfed him in a tight hug.  Jonghyun was too stunned to react. He was not expecting this at all.

"Thank you, thank you and thank you! For loving uri Yoona even if she’s just came from a poor family…thank you!" Yoona’s mother kept repeating as she held Jonghyun tightly.

"Omma…please let him breathe…" Yoona exclaimed embarrassingly.

"You’ve made me a very happy mother, Jonghyun."  Yoona’s mother said with a smile as soon as she released him.

Suddenly her expression turned serious.

"But, before we allow you to marry her, I want you to know one thing." She suddenly said to him.

"Oh, ahhh, W-what is it Mam?" Jonghyun asked as he swallowed hard.

"We want to have six grandchildren. Three handsome boys like you and three pretty girls like uri Yoona."  Yoona’s mother announced.

“Omma!” Yoona almost yelled out.

Yoona closed her eyes and groaned as soon as she heard her mother’s words.

Can the floor open up and swallow her now?

“Aish! Omma…How am I supposed to face Jonghyun after this?!’ Yoona thought.

"Yah, Yeobo, don’t scare this young man here."  Yoona’s father said to his wife. He looked at Jonghyun with a kind smile.

"Don’t worry Jonghyun, four would be just fine. Two boys and two girls."  He smilingly said as he patted Jonghyun’s shoulder.

“Appa! Aish Jinjia!” Yoona told his father.

“Don’t worry…I actually planning to have…a dozen…six girls and six boys….how’s that Sir, Mam?” Jonghyun playfully told them and he winked at Yoona.

“What?!? Are you serious?” Yoona yelled out as she glared to Jonghyun with her pale face and opened mouth.

Jonghyun and Yoona’s parents couldn’t help but laughed at Yoona’s reaction…

After three grueling hours of lunch, Yoona finally ushered Jonghyun out of the front door to bid him good bye.

She had to hand it to Jonghyun who was able to take the craziness of her parents in stride.

Lunch, she could say, was interesting.

Jonghyun begun to walk back to his car…while Yoona was about to get back inside…when suddenly she heard Jonghyun called her out again…

"Hey…flat chest girl…."  Jonghyun called her.

“Yah! Don’t call me that!” She almost yelled out in annoyance.

Jonghyun reached out and took her hand but much to Yoona’s surprise she swear she instantly felt her face were started to blushed much…

"Thank you…it was my first time to do something like that…and I could say It was exciting and I enjoyed it."  Jonghyun whispered.

He let go her hand after a few minutes and reached into his pocket for the tiny jewelry box.

Yoona’s eyes widened as soon as she saw it.

"I…ahhh…wasn’t really sure if you would like this and if it will fit your finger.  But I just wanted to do this right…we’re engaged…so it’s naturally there must be ring on your fingers, to make more look real, right?"  Jonghyun said and explained sheepishly.

"J-jonghyun-ssi!"  Yoona exclaimed.

He opened the box and revealed the diamond ring nestled inside.

Yoona let out a small gasp as soon as she saw it.

"Ohmigosh! So beautiful." Yoona whispered as she tried her best not to cry.

"I’m glad you like it." Jonghyun said with a smile.

He took the ring out of the box and slipped it on Yoona’s finger on her left hand.

They looked at each other and smiled.

It was a perfect fit.

Weeks later…they’re engagement party were officially done quietly and successful…

Fnally, now…they can surely say that they’re really marrying in the next few days…for real.

Seoul

As soon as Jonghyun got back to his condotel room in Seoul, he was so surprised to see Yejin inside.  She was sitting on the couch crossing her arms and glared at him.

“Y-yejin?”  Jonghyun asked.

"Hi! Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you here for like forever now…" Yejin whined at him.

Jonghyun walked over to her.

"I didn’t know you’re coming…I just went to Ilsan…" Jonghyun told her.

"And what did you do in Ilsan?" Yejin raised an eyebrow.

"What’s important thing you went there for?" Yejin pouted.

"Well…ahrasso, ahrasso…okay, so I need to tell you something…"  Jonghyun sighed and put his hands in his pockets.

Yejin stayed quiet, listening.

"Ahm… to put it simply…I…met my soon to be in-laws there…and I'm getting married." Jonghyun stated quietly.

Yejin gaped.

"What?! I thought you only need to be engaging…but now you’re getting marriage?" She exclaimed.

"Listen, listen to me…" Jonghyun grabbed her shoulder and glared at her.

"My parents arranged this, okay? Yeah, I thought I only need to show my fake fiancée to them and then finish…but then…it turned in different way when they met that girl…that girl suddenly appeared on my brother’s wedding…it’s a long story though…but it’s not my fault.  And this marriage means nothing to me. I'm going to divorce that girl in just a few months… so, you have to wait for me, okay?" Jonghyun looked at her with pleading eyes.

"What the hell? What kind of stupid girl that will agree to that agreement that did you choose anyways?" Yejin said in her angry tone.

"She's just a simple plain girl. Not my type too. So, you don't have to worry. She and I agreed to divorce in more or less six months from now on…"  Jonghyun replied.

"Six months? How am I supposed to wait that long?"  Yejin jerked away from his grasp.

"Yejin…it’s not even a year…besides we can still freely meet even If I’m married…" Jonghyun sighed.

Yejin stayed quiet.

"After I divorce that girl…I'm planning to go back with you…and who knows spend the rest of my life with you or to have a future with you. But if you can't wait for
