Title: Regrets

Sometimes, Luhan wanted to tell them it was unfair... Sometimes he felt betrayed by Jongin and he wanted to yell at him and tell him he had met her first... Sometimes he wanted to blame him for taking Naeun away from him…

...but then he remembered that she didn’t belong to him. She was never his to lose in the first place because he never had the guts to confess his feelings for her, even after such a long time. They were just friends, best friends… and he couldn’t blame Jongin for that.

Luhan had always played safe, never wanting to move out of the comfort zone of being just friends because he was afraid… afraid of rejection and afraid of losing his best friend. He was scared things would never be the same if he confessed.

However he never expected another guy would someday come and do what he never had the guts to do.  He never expected another guy to come and steal his Naeun away from him, especially not Jongin, who was another best friend to him.

When he introduced him to her, sparks flew instantly. It was as if they had always meant to be and he couldn’t help but feel jealous. And when Jongin finally confessed his feelings to her and she accepted them, he couldn’t help but feel betrayed. But he then remembered, he didn’t have the rights to feel like that.

Sometimes he regretted introducing Naeun to Jongin... but then he thought that it was selfish to think like that. Because they were both the happiest he had ever seen them. So he reminded himself that it was the right decision.

He let out another sigh as he watched them being lovey dovey to each other. They were dancing a slow song with their faces only inches apart as they smiled lovingly to the other before melting in a sweet kiss. Luhan felt a sting of pain as he watched them. He could only look away and let out another painful sigh.

When the song ended, he saw Jongin excusing himself to go for some drinks for them and Naeun approaching him with a huge smile on her face. He smiled faintly as she walked towards him and tried to hide the pain. 

"Luhan oppa, why aren't you dancing?" she said, almost yelling because the loud music couldn't let them talk properly.

"I'm just taking a break" he lied as he smiled towards her. He couldn't tell her he wasn't in the mood for anything because he was heartbroken. She smiled back and Luhan could swear he could melt at any second. 

"You know what? I never thanked you" she suddenly said and he tilted his head confused

"Thank me for what?" he asked confused and she then smiled brightly

"For introducing me to Jongin. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I have to thank you for that" he said with a bright smile on her face "You are the best friend a person can have, thank you so much Luhan oppa"

She said happily as she hugged him tightly. Luhan felt his heart skip a beat. He faked a smile, even if deep inside his heart was breaking. Best friend... somehow hearing those words coming out of hurt a lot. Because he was only that... her best friend.

When Jongin returned with two drinks in his hands, Naeun walked towards him happily and then they returned to their own little world. When she could no longer see him, he sighed once again. He really needed to remind himself that it had been for the best.

Sometimes he regretted not telling her how he truly felt about her… and that was the one thing he regretted the most. It was a regret that would never leave him. Because maybe things would have been a lot different if he had had the guts to confess his feelings to her.
