After breakfast on Sunday morning, they went to the Higashiyama District, which was along the lower slopes of Kyoto's eastern mountains and is one of the city's best preserved historic districts. It is a great place to experience traditional old Kyoto, especially between Kiyomizudera and Yasaka Shrine, where the narrow lanes, wooden buildings and traditional merchant shops invoke a feeling of the old capital city. Recent renovations to remove telephone poles and repave the streets have further improved the traditional feel of the district.

Sungmin loved the streets in Higashiyama. They are quaint and the whole streets are lined with small shops, cafes and restaurants which have been catering to both tourists and locals for centuries. These businesses retain their traditional design, although many have been renovated through the years, and they continue to serve customers today, selling local specialties such as Kiyomizu-yaki pottery, sweets, pickles, crafts and other souvenirs.

Sungmin ended up buying lots of souvenirs for his colleagues, for Kyuhyun's colleagues too, and for their families. All the shops sell different products and all the handicrafts items were so pretty. 
"Ok baby, stop buying. My haversack are full. We need to go now. We still have the Sagano Train ride, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Fushimi Inari Taisha you know" Kyuhyun pulled Sungmin gently out of a shop. 

"Ohh sorry Kyu, but all the souvenirs are so cute and pretty!! Can we come here again if we come back to Kyoto?" 

"Ok, but maybe I need to being along an empty luggage bag!" 

"Kyu.... I bought for your colleagues and family too.." 

Kyuhyun laughed "Baby, I was just joking, of course we can come back here". 

Sungmin smile happily and followed Kyuhyun to the train station. They alight at Torokko Saga Station and purchased the Sagano Romantic Train tickets. 

The Sagano Romantic Train is a delightful sightseeing train run by Sagano Scenic Railway in the Saga-Arashiyama area of western Kyoto. The train is also called the “Sagano Torokko Ressha” in Japanese. “Torokko ressha” means “truck train” and it is named so after the railway truck cars that used to haul freight along the route.

The train runs along the Hozugawa River gorge, offering fantastic views of the forests and mountains. Kyuhyun had to hold Sungmin's waist a few times so that he wouldn't fall off because Sungmin kept standing up and leaned out the window to take photos along the way. 

After the train ride, they walked to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest while slurping green match ice-cream. Sungmin had excitedly pointed the ice-cream shop and literally ran to join the queue before Kyuhyun could even say ok. Shaking his head with amused smile, Kyuhyun joined Sungmin and bought him 2 scoops of green matcha ice-cream and a single scoop for himself. 

They had their lunch at one of the quaint cafes near to another ice-cream shop, and on the way back to  Torokko Saga Station, Kyuhyun has to buy another green matcha ice-cream for his beloved Sungmin because the said man kept looking longingly at the ice-cream.
