Chapter 70

You Said Remember Me II

While Donghae continued to bicker with Victoria beside him, Eunhyuk peered over at Nana who had silently turned away from him. Her long strands of hair blocked her face from view. He couldn’t help but feel the urge to push back her long locks.

Pressing his lips together to hold a grim expression on his face he watched Nana make eye contact with Changmin, who seemed to be looking disapprovingly. Why? Why was Changmin making that face at her? For a second, Eunhyuk wondered if Nana had told Changmin. What if she had been comfortable enough to confide in him?

But for what reason, would Nana trust Changmin like that? Didn’t Eunhyuk already believe that Changmin was not a least bit interested in her? Or was he suddenly thinking otherwise?

Eunyuk shook his head a little.

However, he couldn’t help but wonder if Nana had told Changmin after all. What if Nana told Changmin that it had just been a mistake? That she hadn’t meant for it to happen. Eunhyuk couldn’t help but feel a little sick inside. What if that had been the case for Nana after all?

Then what about him? What was the night before to him?

Lowering his gaze to the strange patterns of the white tiles on the floor he fell into thought. No, he was sure, he hadn’t done it out of a mere desire that had fluctuated through him. He was slightly certain that Nana meant to him a bit more than usual.

There was no way he had intended to hurt her emotionally. The way Nana had looked at him that morning when he woke made him feel like he’d violated part of her soul. He felt guilty. And that was all he was able to feel.

What kind of a person would Nana think he was now?

Eunhyuk shifted his head and turned to look back out the window.

“Yes, if you weren’t embarrassed to show your coworkers that you’re just into me as I am you, then maybe I wouldn’t be throwing a fit now,” Donghae pouted.

Victoria glared at him wondering why he was acting like such a child before her eyes drifted over to Eunhyuk. He looked a bit sad and confused. She followed his gaze over to Nana without moving her head in case Donghae saw her and watched Eunhyuk turn to look out the window.

She found it interesting how the two seem so distanced when they seemed quite close yesterday. Had something gone down between them after they left yesterday? Victoria felt like prodding on before Donghae’s loud voice pulled her out of her thoughts.

“Aigoo…they’re so cute,” Changmin’s mother commented.

Yuri arrived just before Changmin’s parents left to go for a stroll around the hospital garden. She wasn’t very surprised to see that the other four were there as well, but what took her was the couple sweaters Nana and Eunhyuk were currently wearing. Part of her wanted to know where they’d gotten the sweaters from, but the other half wasn’t that curious. It wasn’t till a second later when the walls felt like they were floating in on her that she realized the awkwardness oozing from Nana and Eunhyuk.

“You’re finally here, I was wondering when you’d come,” Changmin stole her attention.

Changmin looked obviously better. The color that had been flushed from his face a few days ago was there now and there was a hint of relief in his face when he looked at her.

“Your shoulder alright?” Yuri questioned.

He nodded, “Of course! I’m the type to recover fast, I can leave by Friday.”

She smiled softly glad to hear the news, “That’s good.”

“Then I’m going to stay home and it’s going to be like babysitting all over again,” Changmin sort of chuckled when he said that.

Yuri enjoyed listening to him laugh, she hadn’t heard him laugh for quite some days now. It finally dawned on her that she’d been feeling a little lonely since Changmin had started making time for Nana. Had she been so dependent on Changmin before? If so, she never realized it.

“I want to talk to Yuri alone for a moment, could we have a moment alone?”

Yuri shifted her head toward the others when she finally noticed that Changmin wasn’t speaking to her but the others. Donghae turned to them with quite a frown, but Victoria looked as calm as ever. It was as if she knew Changmin was going to say something likely. Nana tilted her eyes toward the ground a bit and looked like she was expecting some sort of scolding. On the other hand, Eunhyuk didn’t budge at all.

“Sure,” Victoria said with a smile. “We’ll go out to grab a snack while you two talk. Do you want anything, Yuri?”

“No thanks. I already had my share of lunch,” Yuri replied.

Victoria nodded and grabbed Donghae’s arm leading him toward the door. Actually, Donghae looked like he wanted to protest something but Victoria was too quick at dragging him out before he spoke. Yuri was kind of glad that Victoria had been so quick as dragging him out because she didn’t know what to expect from him.

Both Eunhyuk and Nana filed out quietly before the door closed. Yuri turned back to Changmin.

“What is it?” she questioned.

“Do you want to sit?”

Yuri glanced at the chair beside the bed that his mother had sat on just a few minutes ago. A quick debate about whether she’d be more at ease standing or sitting popped into her head and she decided that if it was something good he wanted to talk about she’d be more willing to take a seat. However, since he had asked everyone to leave, she assumed that it was something serious. It would be better for her if she stood. Sitting down would only make her spring to her feet in less than a minute after hearing from him what he wanted to say.

“No, go on.” she urged.

Changmin who had been propped up in bed with his back against a soft pillow that had been tossed up to his back shifted in his position a bit. He his lips and gazed around the empty room.

“Yuri, can you convince my parents to leave tomorrow instead of Thursday?”

She frowned, “Why?”

“Because you’re the only one who can do it.”

“Don’t you want to spend some time with them?”

He looked guilty, “It’s ok, I go back home every now and then to see them anyway.”

Yuri looked at him closely. She was sure there was another reason.

“Why do you want them to leave earlier than planned?”

Changmin pressed his lips together before he bit his bottom lip.

“Yuri,” she felt her eyes burn into his when he turned to her, “I have a bad feeling about Nana and Eunhyuk. Do you think, if you could, convince her to go home with you tonight.”

Yuri now frowned even deeper, “Is something wrong?”

Changmin turned away. Not being able to see his eyes bothered her. The emotions pounding their way through him would be clearly spotted in the depth of his eyes, but he wasn’t looking at her. Why wasn’t he looking at her?!

“I just…don’t want them to spend another night together at that place alone.”

Another night together at that place alone. The words hovered above her head. They sounded unpleasant no matter how many times she repeated those words to herself.

“Did something happen?” Yuri questioned.

“I can’t say,” was all he said.

What in the world did he mean by that?! Was he just jealous? Yuri hated that thought so much.

“Are you just worried about Nana?” Yuri felt like she wanted to know.

“Could you talk to her?” he asked when he turned back to meet her eyes.

Yuri pursed her lips and gently gritted her teeth.

Donghae walked back to the circular gray table with fresh drinks from the food bar. There was a heap of trays sitting near the condiment stand and a line full of patients and visitors behind him. The fresh white walls marked the new opening of the hospital which had started its business no longer than 8 years ago. Rows and rows of circular tables were placed all throughout the dining-like cafeteria. It was neat and sophisticated. He sort of wondered how much he would have to pay if he was going to lie in a hospital bed for a day.

When he reached the table where his wife and two friends sat he saw that none of them were talking. It was more like Nana and Eunhyuk were trying to distance themselves from everybody else. On the other hand, he just felt like whisking Victoria away to spend some quality, real quality time with her.

Setting down the refreshments onto the table he took his spot beside Victoria and scooted his chair close to her. Quietly sipping on his soda he glanced at Eunhyuk who seemed somewhat dazed then to Nana who looked somewhat sad. What was wrong with them? It felt kind of…despairing to be around them.

Pressing his lips together he stared at Victoria through the corner of his eyes. She seemed to be closely looking at the two of them as well. He wondered what she’d have to say about the two of them later.

“So…how was your morning?” Donghae asked.

Eunhyuk stiffened in his chair and Nana’s cheeks turned into a light crimson color. If she was blushing, Donghae was taken aback by it.

“I guess I didn’t expect an answer then,” Donghae muttered to himself unsure of how to react toward the two.

Victoria kicked his leg underneath the table. When he turned to her with a frown she narrowed her brows at him and shook her head “no”. Donghae only wondered what she meant by that.

Leaving Changmin alone with his parents, Yuri headed downstairs to look for the others. She found them in the cafeteria. Staring at them from the entrance she saw that both Nana and Eunhyuk were sitting next to each other. Their blue couple sweaters made them stand out more and more as the seconds ticked by.

What would have happened that made Changmin ask her for a favor about Nana? Yuri couldn’t quite figure it out. It wouldn’t seem like Nana would have done anything. Nor did it seem like Eunhyuk would have either. Then what was it that Changmin saw but wouldn’t say? Yuri felt the obvious curiosity of a police officer to find out what had gone wrong poke her from inside.

For the thousandth time she had to remind herself that she wasn’t at work. It wasn’t time to play detective with some people she knew.

Swallowing the bit of saliva in , she stepped forward to approach them. Donghae was first to lift his head up when she walked over.

“What did Changmin have to say?” Donghae asked.

Yuri watched as Victoria kicked him under the table. Seeing him jolt in his seat due to no reason amused Yuri to no end. They were so cute. It made her even more envious. She wanted someone to joke with, be intimate with, and love at the same time. Donghae and Victoria had everything she yearned for and those things she yearned for were appearing more and more on her mind lately.

Yuri smiled, “Nana, can I have a word with you?”

The way Nana threw her head up surprised made Yuri feel a little guilty for no particular reason at all. It felt like a teacher calling upon her disciple for something she hadn’t done. Nana looked nervous. Yuri felt her eyes tilt over to Eunhyuk to see him look at her with dense eyes. Why? Was he concerned about her calling on Nana? Eunhyuk chose to say nothing, though.

Nana got up to her feet swiftly.

“I’ll see guys in a bit,” Yuri said before she led Nana out into the hallway.

/ / / / /

“What was that for?” Donghae whined when Yuri left.

“Do I need to repeat myself? Look at the situation,” Victoria quietly reprimanded, “you talk too much, learn when not to.”

He scowled at her before turning to look at Eunhyuk whose eyes had followed the two out. To Donghae, it looked like Eunhyuk was trying to see through the walls.

“What?” Donghae asked.

Eunhyuk’s eyes landed on the ground before he turned to him.

“Are you worried about something?” Donghae speculated.

Eunhyuk stared at him for a long time before claiming, “No.”

Something was totally off, but Donghae didn’t know where to start. He was sure that even if he tried prying into Eunhyuk’s secretive mind, he wouldn’t find what he wanted. Eunhyuk was too cautious around him.

***Sorry guys, I haven't even written much during my spring break T.T I played too much and slept too much :/ And tomorrow I return back to school =__=

***OMGosh!! Has anyone watched "The Moon That Embraces The Sun"? It has the most beautiful story line ever! It ripped my hear to pieces and the romance is so so deep that it can't even be described in words. I can't say how many times I cried while watching the drama, but it's just so amazing -  it's probably the only drama that has been able to succeed in making me cry midway through the drama and at the beginning. I hope whoever hasn't watch it will give it a try and I guarantee that that it'll make your heart bleed like it did mine. The soundtracks are just so perfect, it's the best drama of the year, honestly. Kim Soo Hyun did a great job and Han Ga In was a mighty great actress. I loved the young actors/actresses as well -  they never left my mind. They started the drama off really strong and made you in all these unexplainable emotions. Ok, enough babbling, but definitely watch it!

***Anyway, here's what I have so far :) Enjoy!
