Day 82
2013, Year of UsSaturday March 23rd, 2013
“Mom, where are the candles?” Yu-ki shouted from the kitchen where she was rummaging through the cupboards.
“In the pantry, middle upper cupboard.” Her mother’s response came from the other room. Yu-ki shut the cupboard she was looking through and immediately found what she was looking for in the one her mother said.
“What do you need candles for anyways?” Yu-ki turned to the sink where her mother now stood rinsing her cup in hand.
“It’s Earth Hour tonight. I’m just getting everything ready.” She explained as she set candles and a lighter on the table. “In about half an hour, I’m gonna go and shut off all the lights. You know for energy conservation and stuff.” She explained.
“Energy conservation and stuff.” Her mother repeated. “Right. Well just put everything back when you’re done.” She said walking away. Yu-ki hummed in response as she took inventory of the things in front of her.
At 8:30 on the dot, Yu-ki went around turning off all the lights and replacing them with candles. The only room that survived the purge was her mother’s office. Yu-ki smiled to herself as she surveyed her good work. She went to put the lighter back in the kitchen when the doorbell rang.
“Kate, the door.” Her mother yelled from inside her office.
“Coming!” She shouted as she descended the stairs, a candle softly illuminating her way. Pulling the door open, she revealed Tao on the other side. “Taozi! What’s up?”
“Hey KiKi.” He waved. “I- Why are you holding a candle?” He asked as he eyed the flame in her hands.
“Oh, it’s Earth Hour right now. I turned off all the lights in the house.” Yu-ki replied easily.
“For energy conservation and stuff.” Her mother repeated her earlier explanation as she walked up from behind. “Hello Zitao.”
“Profes- I mean Auntie.” Tao greeted back.
“What brings you here?”
“Oh, right. My mother wants you two over for dinner on Wednesday.” Tao said. “She asked me to come over and invite you over.”
“Dinner sounds good.” Her mother nodded and Yu-ki agreed. “Tell your parents we’ll see them on Wednesday then.”
“Okay.” He smiled. “If that’s all then I’ll be going now.”
“Actually,” Yu-ki’s mother spoke up causing Tao to turn back around. “Since you’re here anyways, why don’t the two of you guys go out?” She said gesturing to her daughter and her friend. “I mean neither of you guys are busy right now.”
“Uhhhh,” Tao mumbled before looking to Yu-ki for her thoughts. “I guess, if you want to?” he asked her.
“Sure,” she agreed. “Let me just grab a sweater.”
[A/N]: I had originally wanted this to be a lot longer and wanted to get into their date thing, but I figured that knowing me it would take forever to get that out so I said screw it and just got this posted instead. Nothing really happens on their date. It just a lets hang out and eat ice cream kinda thing. They just sat and talked. Basically just becoming friends with each other again.
Ummm, yeah. For those of you that don't know, Earth Hour (which really did happen on this date back in2013) is just an hour where you turn off all lights and electronics for a cause that I can't recall at the moment....but yeah. That's about it for this chapter.
Next chapter I will do something a little different and sorta switch perspectives and go to the happenings in Korea.
Uhhh, that's all for now! Please comment and speculate and just generally tell me your thoughts! I don't bite I promise. Don't be afraid to ask questions, chances are I'll answer them!
