Day 118
2013, Year of UsSunday April 28th, 2013
“Is that such a bad thing?”
Yu-ki didn’t know the whole story behind their family life and she never bothered to ask. All she needed to know was whatever they felt comfortable with revealing. It never occurred to her until now that her own family life mirrored that of Jongin and Joonmyun. The only difference was that one chose to live a life in the shadows. The other didn’t.
“What are you thinking about?” Kris asked apprehensively seeing the dazed look on his sister’s face.
“Do you ever regret it? Separating yourself from dad?” Yu-ki never spoke about her brother’s refusal to acknowledge their father’s existence outright. At first she was wary to bring the topic up until it was too late and simply alluding to him became taboo.
“Never.” Kris responded with no hesitation.
“Why?”
“He doesn’t have anything of worth to offer me.” Kris spoke with such finality that it reminded Yu-ki, ironically, of their father.
“Even though it would stop people from taking behind your back?” That was another topic that was taboo between the two. It had become evident in the short four months since her recovery that while the general public were unaware of Kris existence, the inner circle, of which Yu-ki and her friends belonged to, did and often did not have the best image of Kris in their minds.
“Please,” he scoffed. “They would just find something else about me to talk about behind my back.”
[A/N]: Some insight into the Wu/Li family dynamic and a bit of their back story which I don't think I have ever fully explained...? ALSO! I am officially on summer break so hopefully that means I can update!
