CHAPTER 145 I MISS YOU (Part 4)

Days passed by, and Mina found herself missing Nayeon even more and more. Every day she will spend hours thinking about her, picturing Nayeon's face in her mind, imagining kissing her and hugging her.

Mina tried to occupy herself with work, but it was difficult to do so. When she was working in her ranch, or herding her horses and cows to the savannah, she often found herself thinking about Nayeon.

They had only been dating for four weeks, and the last two weeks they spent it separated, miles away from each other.

On this Friday evening, Mina found herself lying alone tossed and her bed. She wanted to call Nayeon, but she already called her an hour ago. She had been calling her everyday too, and the cost for international phone calls was quite expensive. Sometimes Nayeon would call Mina first, but most of the time it was Mina who made the phone call because she was too eager and impatient to hear Nayeon's voice.

Five more days. Just five more days and they would be able to meet each other again. Mina told herself.

This was only a two and half weeks trip, and Mina already found this torture unbearable. And Nayeon had informed her that in the future she would have to travel more often, and farther in distance. Next year, Nayeon was planning to find more investors in Europe and the United States, which means she would be travelling to those countries soon. For Mina who barely ever leave her small town, that was a very huge trip. For all her life, Mina had only been to two countries, that is the country where she lived now, South Korea, and her home country, Japan. Mina had visited Japan a few times when she was younger. She went there with her father and her mother, before her mother's death. And her last visit to Japan was six years ago, after her mother's death. Her father took her to visit their uncles and aunts in Yokohama, Kyoto, and her hometown, Kobe. A year later, her father got in an accident falling off his horse, and he became bedridden for the rest of his life. After that incident, Mina never got the chance to go to Japan again. Her cousin, Momo, then came all the way from Kyoto to help Mina manage her ranch. Mina was planning to visit Japan again one day in the future.

It was already late at night, Mina still couldn't sleep. Not knowing what to do, she walked out of her room, and she saw Yejin walking out of her father's room.

Mina noticed Yejin was having tears on her eyes. She then went to check her father and found her father was already sleeping.

Mina went back to the dining room. She came and sat next to Yejin.

"Yejin, what happened? Is it my father?" She asked.

Deep inside, she already knew that the worst might be coming soon. Her father's death. They already expected it. They felt like they’re currently waiting for the Angel of Death to come, so that it would end Naohito's suffering.

"Yes, Mina, it is your father. He just said to me that he wouldn't make it through this winter. He asked me to prepare everything for his funeral soon. And he said he wanted all of us to be there when he took his last breath." Yejin said, her voice cracked a bit. Mina had seen Yejin crying before, she mostly cried for his husband (Mina's father). And Mina knew Yejin loved the man so much.

Mina took Yejin's hand and held it tightly, wanting to give her stepmother a comfort.

Mina felt sad, but she knew sooner or later this would be happening. Now summer has ended. Autumn has just begun. And soon winter would come.

Teardrops started falling from Yejin's eyes. And Mina continued holding Yejin's hands, and slightly rubbing them.

"I feel like I haven't done anything for him. I feel I haven't done enough to pay him back, for everything that he had given me. He gave me shelter, protection, love and everything, but he didn't give me time to do the same for him. He didn't give me a chance to pay him back." Yejin said with tears running down her cheeks.

Mina couldn't say anything. She came closer and wrapped her arm around Yejin. Yejin turned and hugged Mina tightly, and in her mind, she felt like she was hugging Naohito. Mina did look like her father a lot.

For a few minutes, Yejin kept hugging Mina tightly, and Mina let her.

"I'm sorry, Mina. This is the first time your father talks about his death. So I feel a bit emotional tonight. I'm sorry." Yejin said after she released her hug.

"It's okay, Eomma, I know how you feel." Mina said smiling.

Mina figured that the Yejin must be feeling much sadder than her. Mina had been living with her parents until their last moments, she knew her parents would live this world eventually, and she had no regret about it. She loved her parents both. And she would still love them even after they die.

But for Yejin there was probably something more. An unexplained emotion. Yejin had a tough life before she met Naohito. His ex husband cheated on her and left her for another woman. Yejin was left alone with Chaeyoung. She worked hard everyday to make ends meet. Then Naohito came and saved them. But sadly, he would be going away soon. It was understandable that Yejin felt she hadn't done enough to return Naohito's kindness. They were just strangers before they met and got married seven years ago. Naohito didn't owe Yejin anything. But Yejin owed him everything. That was what Yejin felt at the moment. And that's why she felt even more saddened than Mina, upon losing Naohito.

After talking for another minute, Yejin and Mina called it a night and then withdrew to their bedrooms.

Mina then fell asleep while thinking about her parents, and Nayeon.

Next day in the morning, Mina woke up feeling refreshed. And she suddenly felt like doing something different today. Usually she would spend her holiday reading manhwa and playing games. But today she wanted to do house chores. She helped Yejin cook the meal, wash the dishes, do the laundry, sweep and mop the floor, take the garbage out, and other stuff. Mina rarely did domestic stuff like this before, since she was usually busy working at the ranch and doing projects with Nayeon. But today with Nayeon out of town, Mina didn’t have anything to do, and she then decided to help Yejin.

Other than doing house chores, Mina also spent quite some time inside her father's room, talking to him. The poor man seemed to have only little energy in his body. He was struggling a lot even just to point his fingers at the alphabet board to communicate with people. And most of the time, he would just stay silent and go to sleep. He looked peaceful though. He would surely die in peace. That's what Mina thought of him.

MEANWHILE. AT THE TOWN'S CENTRAL PARK.

Sana and Tzuyu spent their Saturday morning doing exercise and jogging around the central park.

Tzuyu noticed Sana had improved quite a lot since last time. The Japanese girl didn't look lazy anymore. She was able to run faster without tripping over her own foot. And for a very clumsy girl like her, this can be considered a very big improvement.

"Sana, do you want to take a rest for a minute?" Tzuyu asked.

"No, I'm not tired yet. Let's continue!" Sana said.

"Okay, good!" Tzuyu turned around and starte

Because i'm a Law student i have to point it out: Of course it might depend on the place, but a lawyer and their clients still can have a conversation in this kind of situation, it's their right to have communication with each other.
