TUESDAY MORNING.
The sun was shining brightly, and the gentle breeze was blowing smoothly. Birds were twittering and flying around in the sky. The sound of the river flowing was heard from a faraway. It was such a nice weather to start a beautiful day.
A girl wearing a flannel shirt, blue jeans, boots, and a cowboy hat was seen lying on her back on the grass field. She bent her knees and crossed one leg upon the other. She put her both hands under her head, making them as a pillow. Her whole face was covered with her cowboy hat.
It was a beautiful day, but the girl seemed to be a bit distraught. Her lips were curved downward, forming a pout. Something seemed to be occupying her mind. Not far away from her, a few dozens of horses and cows were feeding on the grass.
The girl, Myoui Mina, had been returning back to her daily rhythm, being a cowgirl. Those dozens of horses and cows belonged to her. In the past, she used to bring her horses and cows to this savannah and let them feed on the grass. Back then she only had a few workers so she had to do the job on her own, herding horses and cows, bathing them and feeding them, cleaning the stable, raising chicken and growing crops, delivering meats and groceries for her customers, etc. It was a simple and easy life, and Mina loved it to the bits.
Mina rarely contemplated about her life, because she thought her life would always be the same. She was raised here in this town, she lived here, she growed up here, and she probably would grow old and die here too.
Now that she was back to her old life, she had a lot of free time to contemplate. As she recalled her life was always simple. Her mind was always pure and simple. It was only a year ago that her life started to change. The Im Family came, and the life she knew then changed into a more complicated one.
Im Nayeon was a complicated person. She's a mystery, hard to fathom. A person with different layers, wearing different masks. Nayeon was not without emotion, but her emotion was hidden securely behind all those layers of facade. Most of the time, Mina couldn't figure out what Nayeon was thinking and feeling. Most of the time Nayeon would look cold and distant, but Mina knew Nayeon was a very kind and caring person. One thing that Mina learned from this was, don't judge the book by its cover.
After Nayeon ended their partnership, Mina found herself often thinking and contemplating about Nayeon. She recalled her first impression of Nayeon when she first saw her face in the business magazine. Nayeon looked like a rich, arrogant person, wearing that smug smirk on her face. Her impression with Nayeon changed a bit after their next encounter in this savannah, around twelve months ago. Back then, Mina was herding her horses like usual. Then Nayeon passed by with her car and suddenly Mina's horses ran onto Nayeon's car. Nayeon then scolded Mina, saying she was careless and slacking too much and not doing her job to watch her horses. Nayeon then suddenly fainted, and Mina had to take her to her home. Mina found Nayeon crying in her sleep and she observed closer. Nayeon woke up and punched Mina square on her face, making her nose bleeding. And Nayeon kept apologizing for that. [See Chapter 10 & 11]
After that fateful encounter, Nayeon invited Mina to come to her office to talk business. And unfortunately, at their first meeting, Mina came late. Why? Because the night before, Mina had to stalk Sana and rescue her from getting by Seunghyun. That night was very tiring, so the next morning Mina woke up late and arrived late at Nayeon's office, with bandaged on her hands. That was not a good impression Mina made on her first business meeting with Nayeon. [See Chapter 15]
One week after their first business meeting, Nayeon asked Mina to show her around the town's border and savannah, saying she wanted to find a location for a building a stadium and other resorts. That was their first horse-riding trip to the savannah. Unfortunately, after Mina returned from the savannah, she was kidnapped and tortured by Seunghyun's men. Beaten and injured, Mina was then found by Nayeon, and the Im decided to take Mina into her house and take care of her for three weeks. That was when their friendship started blooming. [See Chapter 17-20]
And after that incident, Mina's life began to change. Nayeon began to give her a lot of projects. Mina found herself busy learning a lot of new things, reading books, working with computers, talking with people, etc. For someone who only knows how to talk and work with horses, this was quite a challenge for Mina. And Nayeon had been so patient in teaching Mina all those things.
Later, their friendship was put into test when Seunghyun came and started making troubles again for Mina, attacking her friends and stealing her horses. Mina had to stop her partnership with Nayeon because she had to focus herself on her problems first and protect her family and her friends. And she also didn't want to bring Nayeon down with her problems. With the help from Jeongyeon, they managed to send Seunghyun to prison. Jeongyeon said she worked for free, doing a pro bono for the girls. After that, Mina resolved and continued her partnership with Nayeon again. And another important event also happened around this time. That is, Sana's love confession. That happened around six months ago. [See Chapter 50]
And during those six months, a lot more things had happened. Mina started dating Sana, and she still continued doing projects with Nayeon. Jaebum came between them. He began to show strong jealousy and dislike towards Mina. The was when Jaebum ordered Nichkhun to attack Mina in the polo game. At first Mina thought it was just an accident and had nothing to do with Jaebum. But then Chaeyoung suddenly told her it was all Jaebum's scheme. Mina punched Jaebum, and Nayeon slapped Mina. Mina and Nayeon's friendship was then put to test for the second time. At this time, Nayeon still didn't know about Chaeyoung's prank at the church and therefore she still thinks Jaebum is a good person and this was just a misunderstanding between Jaebum and Mina.
Later, Seoyeon came to the family. Her adopted parents died in a robbery incident, and then Myoui Family adopted her. Nayeon developed a close relationship with Seoyeon, showing a lot of care and affection, buying a lot of toys and gifts for the little girl.
During this time, Mina's friendship with Nayeon grew even closer. They often went to the savannah and mountain together. And then later, a conflict between Nayeon and Sana arose when they went to the balloon festival at the children park, where Seoyeon went missing for a few minutes, and Nayeon got into an argument with Sana and ended up slapping her. Things got worse because Jaebum and Nichkhun blackmailed Chaeyoung and forced her to make an apology. Another important event took place, Nayeon announced her wedding plan with Jaebum, but Mina caught Jaebum cheating with Jennie and she sent their pictures to Nayeon, causing the latter to cancel her wedding. And now, Nayeon suddenly decided to cut all ties with Mina.
All those things that happened in the past few months made Mina wonder, just how much Nayeon had changed her life. Mina realized, Nayeon had become a huge influence in her life. She changed the way Mina thinking, and she helped Mina grow and improve into a better person.
And now that Nayeon was gone, Mina suddenly felt empty.
Mina continued lying in that position, she was slowly drifting away into her dreamland. And suddenly she heard the sound of people yelling, a rifle shooting, and the horses neighing loudly.
She opened her eyes and stood up. And there she saw her horses running around near a car on the road. She quickly figured out what happened. Her horses must have clashed into that car, and it made the driver angry, and the driver decided to shoot the horses with a rifle.
Mina knew this was her fault. She should've observed and watched her horses more carefully, instead of slacking and sleeping on the grass field.
Mina then quickly came to the car and apologized to the driver. The driver scolded her and then continued driving, leaving the place.
Somehow this incident reminded Mina again of her first encounter with Nayeon, almost a year ago in this savannah. And Mina could only wonder why after Nayeon decided to end their friendship, everything seemed to be reminding her again to her earliest encounter with the CEO.
LATER THAT DAY.
Mina was driving her car, heading to Sana's house. Today Sana had a schedule to perform, not on the Nation's Town Restaurant, but on a local
