Je l'aimais

Yuri POV

"Hey there, seatmate." Tiffany flashed her eye smile at me and I couldn't help but sigh to myself.

I wasn't ready to spend the next couple of hours with her.

Just as I was about to settle down on my seat, our manager approached us again.

"On second thought, the two of you will be seated over there." He gestures at the two vacant seats, six rows back.

I immediately turned to face Jessica who just sat right across the seat where I was originally assigned and let out a small pout at her. She reflected my expression before I went to obey our manager's order. I heard Tiffany following my lead. After letting her fix her position in the window seat, I sat down next to her. All I could see from this point were the tips of Jessica's blonde hair and I'd feel lucky enough if she'd turn around from time to time and smile at me. But so far she hasn't. She's most probably still enraged with the idea of being next to Taeyeon.

I sighed as I dusted my lap before fastening my seatbelt.

I shouldn't be here.

I should be seated next to Jessica; have her under my embrace or at least her head resting gently on my shoulder. I never thought that two hours would seem that long but for now I could already feel it lasting a lifetime. And I should be spending that lifetime with her.

The plane took off a couple of minutes later with no words exchanged between Tiffany and I. I'd steal glances every now and then at her and she'd always seem busy looking at the clouds outside the window. I believe it's only been twenty minutes since the take off. How could time pass by so slowly? I sighed at the thought of being stuck here for more than an hour left. I wish I was with Jessica right now...

I wonder how she's doing...

I stuck my head out a bit on the aisle to see how she was. There was no sign of her blonde tips sticking out enough for me to see. And with that result I sighed once more.

Maybe taking a nap would pass the time.

I placed my right elbow on the arm rest while the right portion of my face rested on my palm. I gently closed my eyes and fell asleep.

--

I believe fate was working in my favor when it decided to wake me up from my slumber with the use of a flight attendant making an announcement that we had 45 minutes left before landing. Because just as it ended, I noticed Jessica getting up from her seat and walking towards my direction. It immediately caused me to fix my posture before smiling up at her. I felt my heart's pace speeding up like I was just seeing her for the first time.

To my demise, she looked at me as she stood, but not with a smile. And I quickly pulled my head back to stare back at my jeans.

And in a matter of moments, I felt my heart beating fast to being ripped out. Fate wasn't working in my favor.

"It's probably nothing. She must be tired from the flight." I shrugged off in thought. But I couldn't help but feel nervous at the same time. What could possibly happen in the pass 75 minutes?

...

Until she finally reached my row and stealthily snuck a piece of folded tissue paper at the edge of my seat before passing through completely and making her way to the lavatory.

I slowly took the paper from the edge seconds after she passed by and opened the thin sheet to discover a small note written on it.

I miss you!! You still owe me a kiss T_T

I sighed to myself in relief, and blushed at the same time as I grinned from ear to ear. Fate was working in my favor after all.

"So... You and Jessica, huh?"

Tiffany completely snapped me out of my thoughts as she let those words escape her lips. That smile of mine quickly shifted to both of my lips pressing against each other as I immediately folded the note back to its original form and buried it deep in my pocket. She noticed my expression changing drastically and she giggled at it. But I continued to avoid her question.

"Taeyeon had always suspected something going on between the two of you after they broke up..." She started as she shifted her gaze to the window next to her.

"I never took it seriously at first, but after seeing that little show you two had just put up earlier..." She turned her head back to face me once again.

"... I'm thinking otherwise." She finally ended, I could picture her smile fading as her tone changed.

"You love her, don't you?"

"I do." I finally looked up at her.

She smiled at me, genuinely. Probably for the first time.

"And... You love her?" I asked.

She sighed and looked down at her own lap.

"Yeah. I love Taeyeon." It took her a while to respond but her smile returned as she did.

"Since when?"

Tiffany replied with a chuckle before looking up at the window once again.

"Trust me... You don't wanna know." She finally said, her gaze still glued to the view.

"If I didn't, I wouldn't be asking..." I replied sincerely.

For the first time, I felt no hatred towards her ever since I found out the truth about her and Taeyeon. I probably just needed time to cool down from it all. And I just wanted to know. I deserved the truth, didn't I?

She exhaled deeply.

"Tiffany... Just tell me..." I leaned closer to her.

"Why do you wanna know?" She looked back at me with guilt in her eyes.

"Honestly... So I could at least know when you started lying to me..."

She pressed her lips together after hearing my reply and I could tell that it didn't put her mind at ease, but it didn't hold her back from letting the next words slip out of .

"Since we debuted. Way back before we started dating."

I put up a poker face at her words.

"I see..." I nodded.

I leaned back on my seat as I faced the one in front of me before speaking once more.

"So I guess it was a lie this whole time..."

"Yuri..." She spoke apologetically as she held my hand.

"I loved you, I swear..." She tightened her grip.

I kept silent. She kept silent.

Did you truly love me, Tiffany? You couldn't even keep me convinced that you had genuine feelings for me. Was I just a tool to you? Someone who could shower you with endless 'I love you's and warm embraces to compensate for the type of love that Taeyeon could give but never did in the first place? Was I just a pawn in your game? ... But it should it still matter now? Maybe this was all meant to happen so that it would lead me to her... Jessica.

"How did we come to this?" I chuckled as I stared at her hand in mine before looking up at her.

"Once upon a time, Tiffany, there was this girl. A party girl. Do you remember her?" I giggled at the end.

She smiled at me. As if she knew where my story was leading to.

"Party girl Yul. That's what everyone called her. Party girl Yul was in a club one night, intoxicated, as usual, and saw this innocent girl walking up in front of the bar. A girl named Tiffany. This wasn't the first time Yul met Tiffany. They were actually acquainted for quite a long time since they were in the same girl group together. But at that moment, it felt like she saw Tiffany for the first time... Something changed within her. Like she automatically felt something different towards that innocent girl. And it so happened that the two got close-- very close rather that night. They shared stories and secrets like two little girls who just met in preschool. But unlike two underaged children, they had the company of liquor." I noticed her giggling every now and then throughout my story. I had to pause for a while to return her giggles with a sincere smile.

"I fell in love with you that night... I hope you know that..." I continued.

"I do..." She replied with a nod of her head.

"And..." I replied.

"I hope that means something to you, at the very least..." I added, squeezing her hand.

"It does..." She answered, squeezing mine in return.

I got the closure I thought I didn't need.
