Chapter 23

[No one’s POV]

Right now, in the cold dark night of Seoul, the rain was pouring endlessly from the black sky. The droplets of the rain hit the cement floor again and again. Occasionally, the dark sky would light up at the bright lightning strikes. The pit-pat of the rain hitting the ground was accompanied by the roaring of the thunder.

Amidst this storm, Hyunmi was sitting at the top of a playground, hugging herself tight as the wind attacked her yet once again.  She was shivering from the cold weather, as the rain pelted on her with the movement of the wind again.

Hyunmi was merely wearing a hoodie and short pants that weren’t good enough to keep her body warm. She had run out of the house only with her handphone and no jacket at all.

‘What do I do now?’

Her lips were turning blue and the chilly night of Seoul was no joke especially when it was raining this heavily. Her teeth were chattering and her whole body was shaking.

‘I’ve got to save myself this time.’

Hyunmi took a deep breath and slowly untangle her arms. She slowly took her phone out and her numb hands scrolled through the contacts in her phone. She already had a number in mind to call for help.

Her dad’s friend. Samchon.

But, before she reached Samchon’s contact number, her eyes went past a name in her contact list.

‘Jongie Oppa <3’

The tips of lifted into a tiny smile as she found her lifesaver. This person was the one who could save her from all this drama. The one who always stood by her no matter what happened.

Her childhood friend. No, her very first friend.

The person who forced her to call him Oppa the very first time they met, just because she was smaller in size than him.

Jonghyun.

With her shivering body, trembling hands and pounding heart, she dialed the number and prayed that he never changed his number.

“Yoboseyo?”The call finally connected and a voice spoke.

Hyunmi mentally heaved a sigh of relief and said through her cold lips.

“Hello? J-Jonghyun Oppa?”
