Chapter 124. Loving Umma

Yonghwa woke up with a start that he had that mini heart attack realizing that he fell asleep and Euna was no longer in the living room with him. He checked the kitchen first but she wasn’t there. Walking to the hallway leading to the bedrooms, however, he smiled hearing those happy babbles and smiled some more seeing that familiar handbag on the bed.

“Euna? Umma’s home then,” he spoke while his eyes roamed around the room that was already familiar to him since he stayed here before. The chair keeping the bathroom door open with the sound of the shower and the fragrance wafting in the air told him enough. Yonghwa smiled when his daughter looked up to him with her happy grin and started bouncing on her jumper, “Happy Umma’s home?”

“Mmmmaaaahhhh… aaaamaaaahhhh,” she babbled, her little knees moving like she was almost dancing.

He laughed sitting on the bed watching that happy smile as she went on chanting, “Aigoo, you got that hard too? We’re a little crazy about umma, aren’t we?”

Euna giggled stuffing her fist in .

“Uh, yeah,” he mumbled as he laid himself on the bed smiling, “A little bit more than crazy.” Euna seemed content just moving up and down and not even minding the toys strategically placed on the bed for her to reach. Despite that, he still tried to have his little ‘conversation’ with her just to encourage her to mimic him. He couldn’t help but be amused though that she was really ‘replying’.

The moment he heard the shower going off, Yonghwa braced himself to the sight of her and chuckled noticing how the baby seemed to stop every movement she was making as well. And even before Seohyun appeared by the door, Euna’s smile grew wider. But his attention was drawn to her when she pushed the chair blocking the door towards the room and Yonghwa couldn’t help but to ogle at her.

“Hey you two…” Seohyun greeted clutching the towel on her chest, her discomfort was easy to see as he watched her. Instead of calling him out on it, she opted to ignore him with a playful taunting, “You’re a lousy babysitter… sleeping on the job?”

But Yonghwa was not ready to let this slide and just kept his gaze move over her until she looked even more uncomfortable. The pink on her cheeks reminded him on how they were before and knowing that this moment he had been given was like a perfect second chance with her.

But this time, he would do it right.

“Why don’t you two go out so I can put some clothes on?” Seohyun said in a soft voice unsure probably what to say.

“Why do we need to?” Yonghwa grinned knowing he could now, thinking it should remind her of their earlier days, “It’s not like I haven’t seen everything yet…”

Something in her eyes sparked and he almost laughed out loud seeing her nostrils flaring. He had angered the dragon who finally gave him the attitude he was aiming for when she spoke, “It’s either you get out of this bedroom or you get out of this house, your choice.”

He laughed loving the way she could turn from shy Seohyun to a fire-breathing one. Lifting himself off the bed, he chuckled, “I’m just teasing, Seohyun-ssi.”

She only clicked her tongue dismissively as he carried the baby with him to the living room. “Umma is awesome, isn’t she?” Yonghwa smiled when his little girl looked up to him as he put her down on the floor. Euna cooed back and he nodded, “I know, I like teasing her. She’s cute.”

She crinkled her nose grinning up to him with her hands clasped together as she moved them up and down. But it only took a while until her face scrunched up looking towards the hallway and dropping her hands on the floor as she whimpered enviously wanting to go back to her umma. So, he turned the TV back on and she suddenly turned around and sat in front of it like nothing happened making him laugh, “I thought you’re sad.”

Once Euna seemed to be happy on watching her animated show surrounded with her toys, he settled on the couch and his mind drifted back to the events of the day. His father had taken the situation in the worst possible way just as he had expected, although it surprised him that he was unwilling to compromise even for Euna’s sake. If Seohyun found out about this, she would definitely get hurt knowing that she also had built relationship with his parents. It would make her really sad so Yonghwa decided that it was probably best if he didn’t tell her of his appa’s condition.
