Chapter 94. Sober

“Are you still worried about last night?”

Yonghwa didn’t want to discuss this but as she laid her hand on his, he stiffened.

Seohyun squeezed the back of his hands as if reminding him that he couldn’t escape this and she added with slight annoyance on her voice, “Can we get passed this?”

He couldn’t help but chuckle but it was not something that he could forget easily. He may have treated women in the past badly but he never did anything like this. Of all the women he was with, he couldn’t just believe he would be like this to someone that matters so much. He took a deep breath before ‘snapping’ quietly at her, “Even if you say you’re okay, it doesn’t make me feel better, you know?”

“Fine then,” she muttered with an eye roll, “So let me just insist that you were drunk. And don’t fight me on this.”

He laughed before replying a sardonic ‘fine’ but he turned his hand up to take hers on his then kissed her knuckles. An idea came to him that he decided to just grab every opportunity that came like this, “Speaking of, when was the last time you got drunk, Seohyun-ssi?”

“We talked about this before, Oppa,” she said almost in a grumble but there was her usual hidden grin.

“We did?” He looked over his shoulder for a second feigning ignorance, “I don’t remember…”

She grunted rolling her eyes at him, “Can we not talk about the last time I got drunk?”

“I like it when you get dodgy,” he said with a smirk feeling this pang of annoyance at her trying her best to get out of this conversation. Then, he continued trying not to sound too obvious of his real feelings, “I get more suspicious.”

“Suspicious of what?”

Her voice was small almost cautious, making him even more suspicious, “Suspicious that you had been a bad girl.”

She laughed but he could feel the discomfort his question caused since she leaned on the window as if trying to put a space farther from him. Then, she spoke softly, “I couldn’t remember if I had been a bad girl, Oppa.”

The woman he encountered that night had been bad.

For one, Yonghwa knew she intended to seduce him.

And when she got the best of him, she left.

He could also distinctly remember how she seemed to have forced herself to drink.

Maybe it was the alcohol.

“You couldn’t remember if you were bad,” he started, feeling the rush of blood in his heart. This could lead somewhere, or nowhere at all. But he wanted to take his chance, “Hmmm… would that also mean there were things that you couldn’t remember after a night of being bad?”

“Probably?” Seohyun replied with a not-so timid smile.

“Say, if you meet someone while you were drunk, do you think you’d remember him?”

“Probably not supposing if it’s only a few hours?’ She replied rather sharply, “Why are you asking about this anyway?”

Yonghwa chuckled realizing she just got annoyed for some reasons so he bit back, “It’s hypothetical, Seohyun-ssi.”

“Well, hypothetically speaking,” Seohyun crossed her arms on her chest shifting to him challengingly, “Would you remember meeting me the next day if you were drunk?”

Definitely not.

Apparently.

Yonghwa couldn’t help but laugh at the irony, “Fine, point taken.”

Hearing her soft chuckles was a reminder to him that he shouldn’t take this like he was one hundred percent sure. Perhaps it was this need to find confirmation that she didn’t do this to him on purpose, like he was, or any man for that matter, would be another means to an end. Yonghwa shook his bad thoughts away and decided to just continue playing this by the ear. He grinned, throwing her a quick look, “But then again, it mostly depends on what you are wearing.”

Seohyun laughed again, “What would I be wearing to be unforgettable? And don’t say nothing…”

“Despite how tempting that sounded, it would be pretty weird for me to see you the very first time, wouldn’t it?”

Giving her a small wink, he chuckled when she pursed her lips and muttered matter-of-factly, “Right.”

“Hmmm…” he nodded acting like he was thinking hard, “Let’s see… you probably should be wearing something y— red. It should be red.”

She laughed, “Are you obsessed with red?”

“What gave you that idea?”

“You bought me a red dress, Oppa.”

He shrugged but he did recall buying her a red dress unconsciously but seeing her that very first time stirred something in him. Perhaps it was that time he saw the image of the woman in her, maybe all along his subconscious was telling him what he had forgotten while he was intoxicated. Probably, it was pointing directly at this woman. Yonghwa swallowed as the rush of uncertainty started crawling back from the unknown. And he went on— trying to remember, “It should be fiery red. A mini dress… that should show all your curves. A pair of killer heels would complete the look.”
