Author's Note: Okay, I'm somewhat back orz I've been trying to write this over the past few days but I've been so exhausted from everything x_x This might be cliche, but I hope this makes up for all the time I've been gone. ;_; Thank you for those who continue to read these! ^^

Also, anyone else in love with SHINee's Symptoms? It's just so asdfghjkl;

I remember that day clearly. I remembered how I despised Jongin as I waited outside his apartment while Hayoung was going to give her present to him. I was mentally punishing myself for not meeting Hayoung earlier than Jongin. They were a fitting couple and I thought they would have lasted a long time.

But that was when I heard cries from the apartment and my attention immediately snapped towards that door. Hayoung sounded distress so I quickly opened the door to be welcomed to Hayoung’s cries and Jongin trying not to let go of her.

All I could think of that moment was Hayoung—until I saw Yuna sitting on the couch. My anger boiled as I wanted to protect Hayoung. Jongin messed up big time and even though I want Hayoung to be happy with Jongin—what he did wrong can never be forgiven. Jongin has been my friend for years and I still want to be his friend, but what he did was out of the ordinary. Something I don’t want in a friend.

Three weeks after Hayoung’s devastating break up, she was slowly getting back to her normal schedule. She laughed, smiled, and talked normally but whenever I watched her, her eyes said a whole different story. I didn’t want to bring up anything that would trigger memories of Jongin, so I instead brought up small topics that would slowly let her feel better.

“Want to get some bubble tea?” I asked as we walked around the campus. All I heard was silence as I glanced back at her, clearing my throat as I probably did trigger something. “Um, I think I’m going to study,” She replied softly as she held her textbook in her arm.

Great…I did trigger a memory. That was where Hayoung and I talked about her plan of surprising Jongin on their anniversary. “I’m sorry, Hayoung,” I whispered as she shook her head. “It’s not your fault, Sehun,” She beamed as she smiled lightly, inhaling. “I promise things will get better for you,” I reassured as she stopped in her tracks.

“Thanks…oppa,” She managed to say as her eyes weakly turn into half-moon crescents. That gentle smile she emitted was beautiful, but it was hurting my heart how fallen she still is.

Another two weeks passed and even though Hayoung was recovering, I felt like I haven’t been contributing enough to help her fully recover. I decided to get help from one of my good friends, Jung Soojung. She’s been in a couple of relationships before so she’d be able to help me, right?

-

“You want to help Hayoung be happy again?” Soojung asked as she sat across from her friend, crossing her arms. “Please help me, Soojung. I really want to help her,” Sehun begged as they were seated in the cafeteria during lunch. She raised an eyebrow and grinned, “And what do I get in return?”

“Anything you want,” Sehun beamed as he leaned forward slightly, his eyes showing how determined he is. She couldn’t help but smile lightly, nodding in agreement, “You got a deal, Oh Sehun.”

-

“We’re going out,” Sehun announced as he grabbed Hayoung’s wrist gently to pull her outside of her apartment. Hayoung blinked and just stared at him, “Where?” He didn’t say anything as they walked down the flights of stairs until they reached the sidewalks, a word still not being exchanged.

Sehun grinned as they walked towards a bus stop, his hand still wrapped around her tiny wrists. “Hey, Sehun, where are we going?” She asked again as she just looked up at him. He looked at her and shook his head, “It’s a secret.”

“C’mon, please?” She pouted slightly to let him give in, but he still shook his head again. “It’s a surprise, don’t worry,” He replied as the bus stopped in front of them, the two of them walking inside to get their own seat. The ride took approximately half an hour until they arrived in front of a huge entrance.

Hayoung’s eyes widened in anticipation and replied with an excited tone, “An amusement park?” He nodded and paid for their admission tickets, looking around immediately to find any rides. “Let’s go on that first,” She suggested as she pointed at the roller coaster, patting Sehun’s forearm gently.

He nodded and grinned, the two of them approaching the line of the roller coaster ride. Just like that, the two embarked on an adventure of rides and games. “I’m going to try this game,” Sehun stared at the game of knocking the bottles down with a baseball. He stretched his arms and gave the attendant his coins.

“Fighting, Sehun!” Hayoung encouraged as she stood behind him from a safe distance, holding her fist up. Sehun eyed not the bottles, but the prizes hanging above him. He his lips in concentration and held the baseball firmly in his hand, staring firmly at the two bottles and the third one being stacked in the center. He took a deep breath and threw the ball, hitting it right in the center. All three bottles knocked down and Hayoung clapped happily, jumping a little in place.

The attendant grinned and passed a rilakkuma stuffed toy to the male, a sheepish grin appearing on the attendant’s face. “You did it, man,” He whispered to Sehun as the other laughed. He grabbed the stuffed bear and walked towards Hayoung, holding it out to her, “Here you go, Hayoung.”

Hayoung’s eyes widened as she grabbed the bear, a warm smile gracing her features. “Thank you so much, Sehun!”

Just as the two were about to leave, rain started to pour heavily. Children were laughing as they run around carefree, while the stressed out parents were trying to contain their children and make sure they weren’t getting sick. Couples were cuddled against each other as they run to a safe spot, the male’s jacket on top of their heads.

Sehun and Hayoung on the other hand stood next to each other awkwardly as they just stared up at the rain. Hayoung hummed quietly and smiled, walking in the rain. Sehun’s eyes widened as he followed behind her, trying to get Hayoung out of the rain. “Yah, Oh Hayoung! You’re going to get sick!” Sehun shouted as he followed Hayoung out of the park.

“Let loose, Sehun! Who cares if we get sick? Just have fun!” She smiled brightly and laughed, tapping her foot in puddles and collecting rain in her hand. Sehun just stood there, observing his best friend playing around. He laughed and took off his jacket, collecting some rain in the jacket that he held with both hands. He walked up to Hayoung and poured the water over her.

Hayoung froze in place and turned around slowly, glaring at Sehun with a hint of a pout. “Oops…” Sehun whispered as he gulped, smiling innocently. “Sorry?” He grinned as Hayoung just walked away, not caring about Sehun.

“Hayoungie! I’m sorry!” He shouted as he ran carefully towards her. When she turned around, it looked like she was going to smile but instead she stopped halfway and stared through the window of the café. As Sehun approached her, he saw Jongin and another girl with their hands held across the table. Sehun stared at her and then at Hayoung, whose face has fallen.

“Let’s get going…” He whispered as he grabbed her hand gently and walked away from the café. Hayoung gulped and squeezed his hand tightly, the rain slowly starting to die down. “Thank you, Sehun…” She murmured as Sehun looked at her confusingly.

“You’re the only friend who kept saving me from any problems…I really appreciate it,” Hayoung continued as Sehun smiled to himself. Little did he know, he’s been a huge impact on her. He gave her continuous support and that’s all she needed. She didn’t need superficial things or objects to please her—she just need a loving friend.

However, Hayoung didn’t notice she actually developed feelings for him.

-

“Thanks, Soojung. I found out I was really helpful to her,” Sehun thanked Soojung as they were seated in Sehun’s apartment. She nodded as she read over her textbook, smiling, “No problem.”

Sehun took a bite out of his chips and glanced at her, “Did you find out any way I can repay you yet?” Her small smile tugged into a playful smirk, “I did actually.”

“Great, what—‘”

Soojung stood up and sat next to Sehun, her elbow resting on his broad shoulder. “Just a small kiss will do,” She smiled and brought her face closer to his.

“Soojung, don’t you think this is a little too much?” He asked as he tried to pull away slightly. He liked Hayoung and he thought the message came across to Soojung. “She doesn’t have to know…and besides, you two aren’t even going out yet,” She reasoned as she leaned even closer.

Sehun faced her and tried to push her back, but the other was faster as she caught his lips into a kiss. Sehun’s eyes tightened as he tried to push her back, but her arms were wrapped tightly around his neck.

The door clicked open as light footsteps were echoing. “Oh my gosh…not again…” She whispered to herself as she stared at his best friend kissing another. The voice traveled to Sehun’s ears and he immediately pushed Soojung off, not caring if he hurt her or not.

“Hayoung,” His eyes widened as he turned around to find Hayoung standing there. Was his how Jongin saw Hayoung when she caught him? It was heartbreaking as her eyes were down, her hands shivering. “I’m sorry…I’ll just…” She cleared and walked out of the apartment quickly, closing the door behind her.

She leaned against the door and held onto the handle, her mind instantly flashing back to Jongin’s situation. It was that all over again. Having her heart being broken into pieces for the second time was even more hurtful. I’m never trusting boys ever again… She walked away slowly to her apartment that’s one floor above, thinking back to all of Sehun’s moments with her.

“Get out,” Sehun muttered as he stared at the floor, running a hand through his hair. “C’mon, she’ll understand,” Soojung protested as she stared at him. “Get out,” His voice rose as Soojung’s eyes widened, taken aback at his sudden tone.

“Yeah, she understands because this is the second time. Now get out,” He commanded as Soojung walked out, her head held high. Sehun took a deep breath and stood up, staring up at the ceiling. He walked out of his apartment with his keys and went upstairs to the other floor, hoping to catch Hayoung.

He wiped his mouth as he wanted to leave out traces of Soojung’s kiss. What a way for a first kiss… He shrugged and dragged his feet to her apartment, seeing Hayoung struggling to get inside. She forget her keys again, didn’t she?

He walked towards the door and opened it for her, getting inside before she could and close the door on him. “Please leave…” Hayoung whispered as she stood out of her apartment still, trying to hide her tears. “Hayoung, let me explain,” He begged as everything is starting to remind her of Jongin even more.

“Just—‘” She started, but Sehun pulled her inside, closing the door. “I’m not leaving until I have the chance to explain myself,” He stated as he cleared the lump in his throat. The long silence gave him the hint and he placed both hands on her shoulders.

“Soojung kissed me. She was the one who laid her lips on me. This was all because I told her I’d repay her back with anything,” He started and Hayoung looked up at him confusingly. “What did you have to repay her back for?” She asked as tears were falling down her cheeks.

Sehun sighed softly and wiped the tears away with his thumb gently, “I needed help to cheer you up so she helped me…”

“You already cheered me up though…” Hayoung whispered as she wiped her own tears, taking a deep breath to let her talk stably. “Ever since that night of that situation with Jongin, you were always the one who cheered me up…” She continued as she looked up at him.

It finally hit him. He was the one that was always there for her and now that he noticed it, he was the only one that Hayoung went to for comfort. He looked at her and pulled her into a warm hug, placing his lips on top of her head, “I’m so stupid…”

Hayoung laughed weakly and patted his back gently, “You’re not…You were just trying your hardest.” She paused and hid her face in his chest, “I really appreciate it…”

Sehun pulled away from the hug and wiped the remaining tears with his thumb again, his face leaning forward to plant a kiss on her forehead.

“I want to be that person to help you move on completely. Will you let me?”

“I will, Sehun. You were the one from the start and now you’ll be the one until the end.”
