The day’s October 29th, it’s a Saturday and again I’ll be spending it with the three people I was with last week din.

Sasalubungin naman namin yung birthday ni Gi over the night and sabi niya siya na daw bahala sa itinerary kaya she just told us to bring enough money, may clue naman siya on what we’re going to do kaya hindi naman kami totally mangmang sa gagawin naming apat tonight.

Ang saya nga na one-week lang ang gap ng birthday ni Gi from Ning kaya we usually have two parties within the same week o kaya isang ‘engrande’ na gala or something na kami kami lang magkakasama. It’s been like that since senior high and if you think about it, yes, the years we’ve been together can be compact for some people to consider our friendship as a friendship that will last pero kasi,

Kasama ko sila daily for two of those years and we have no other solid friend groups except the ones na nabubuo ngayong college kasi face to face na.

We were together when prom happened, sila yung kasama ko nung nagpagawa ako ng dress, sila yung kasama ko nung naghanap kami ng blazers sa ukay ukay to wear for research defense, kami yung kasama ni Giselle nung hinatid namin yung tita niya sa airport and kahit pagpapabunot ni Ning ng ngipin, kaming dalawa din ang kasama niya.

If that doesn’t tell you anything then you don’t have a chance to spare us your opinion kasi this is our friendship, not yours.

Ah oo nga pala, Ning told us she’ll bring something with her today kasi nga daw binilhan siya ng crepe cake ni Gi nung birthday niya, peace offering na din daw niya kay Gi over what happened last week. Ano yun may dala dala kaming cake mamaya?

Clearing two people, I’m left with one. Dali dali naman akong pumunta sa conversation namin ni birthday girl para malaman kung nasan na ba siya.

‘Besh, san ka na?’

‘Angkas, near na beb’

‘Nag-angkas ka?’

I asked though I’m surprised, Gi prefers taking cars o kaya public transpo kaysa sa mga motor kaya bakit naman nag-angkas siya bigla? Saka why is she still typing eh naka-angkas pala siya? Ang delikado kaya.

‘Do you really wanr me texying you while im literslly on a motorcycke?’

Ayan na, based sa dami ng typos niya I’m considering not replying back to her. I just wanted to know kung nasan lang naman sila and I know na so no need to reply na. ‘Sungit talaga’ I told myself before staring back sa damitan ko, may nakalabas na thin coat na gusto ko dalhin kaso mainit naman kasi kapag suot ko to kahit na manipis pa yan.

Kaya nga ako nagsleeveless para hindi mainit tas magdadala ako ng ‘manipis’ na jacket. I’m wondering if Gal has one, she usually brings a worn-out flannel when we go out especially at night, that became a thing with her because she always lends it to other people when she’s not using it. ‘May dala kaya siya?’

Tumayo nalang ako at nagtungo sa kwarto ni Ate, mambubulabog muna ako habang wala pa yung makukulit. ‘Ate’ I called her softly mula sa siwang sa pinto niya, nakaharap nanaman siya sa laptop niya, probably doing her stuff. ‘Hm?’ ‘Penge 1k gcash’ she stopped typing, bigla naman siyang umikot patingin sa akin while holding her phone. Uy nagdadalawang isip na yan.

‘Para saan?’ ‘Pang grab ganun’ I went in her room to show myself and I think she got my message when she saw what I was wearing. Hindi naman talaga pambahay tong suot ko kaya nakaramdam na siya siguro.

She scanned me from head to toe before turning her phone on, Ate Rene has never been the sister to stop me from something and she does support me from time to time by giving me money. I think perks ng may freelance business, though she’s considering stopping since dumadami na ulit yung responsibilities given to her.

‘1,500 send ko, greet Gi for me’ my face lit up, of course she remembered. She treats my friends like her younger siblings na din, I think Ning even told us yesterday na binati siya ni Ate sa chat, gulat nga daw siya at akala kung anong itatanong sa kanya ni Ate, parang ewan. ‘Sige, thank you’
 

‘Grabe ha naunahan ko pa sila’

Maaga pa naman, it’s just a quarter to 7 and 8 pa naman daw yung reservation ni Gi kung saan man kami kakain. Siya talaga nag-plan ng ganap ngayong gabi kahit pa nga siya yung magbbirthday kaya um-oo nalang kaming lahat kasi ang bad naman namin if we were to say no to her.

Gi arrived just a little over 5 minutes ago and nagpapalamig lang ulit kami dito sa kwarto kasi wala pa rin yung dalawa. They told me that the cake arrived na though, baka inayos pa nila. ‘On the way na yun, may hinintay kasi’ Gi stood up in front of my mirror, not stopping with fixing her hair. Isang problema nga daw when it comes to Angkas, magugulo talaga ang hairdo mo. ‘Pahiram suklay beb’ I nodded at her before looking back down on my phone, a message appeared.

‘Ay they’re here na daw’ I grabbed my bag before standing next to Gi to fix myself before going down. Malaki yung bag ko unlike the usual ones I bring kasi nag-favor si Gal if she could stuff her things sa bag ko, ayaw niya daw magdala para ma-enjoy niya yung mga ganap namin, I said yes naman kasi who am I to say no.

‘Mauna ka na sunod nalang ako’ she said while she’s still fixing her hair, bangs lang naman ang aayusin nito at curled pa rin yung hair niya kaya minimal touch-ups lang. ‘No na, I’ll wait for you’

I went out of my room first after telling Gal na pababa na kami, paalam na ako para dire-diretso nalang bababa mamaya. ‘Ma, alis na kami!’ ‘Mag-ingat ha!’ right on time, Gi turned the light off my room before going out. She threw the strap of her bag before closing my door. Sabay kaming sumigaw ng makatabi niya ako. ‘Opo!’
 

     Giselle booked a grab as soon as we saw the other two. I didn’t see Ning holding a gigantic cake naman pero there was a tin can inside a flat paper bag in her hands so I think that was Gi’s cake.

    Ang theme pala for tonight is black and as soon as Gi told us that, alam na namin ni Ning kung anong gusto niyang maganap, for sure may mapupuntahan kaming bar nito. Gi hates wearing such colorful clothes at bars kasi daw guys most likely see you kasi you ‘stand out’ from the crowd kaya ayun, anything black.

     Naka black pants si Ning, naka black shorts and shirt si Gi na may matching red and black bomber jacket, I’m wearing a black dress that drops until my knees and good Lord, Gal’s wearing a pair of denim jeans and a black top- a low cut black top meaning that I could see her goodness.
