“You need to wash your hands first,” Hannah laughs when the child is trying to start bake without washing his hands first.

“Children, go with Hannah and wash your hands!” Maria calls out and the three children all screams – one in joy and hurries out to the bathroom while the other two run to hide. Hannah lifts up the boy she had sat next too, carrying the small boy to the bathroom where also Emelia has walked to with the girl.

5 Pieces is filming the fifth episode of ‘A Good Cause’. The day before, when Hannah had gotten back from Japan, the group had sat down to response for the show on fan requests. At the end of the second episode broadcast a while back, 5 Pieces informed fans to send in requests of good deeds and things they want 5 Pieces to do, and yesterday it was chosen that 5 Pieces will baby-sit for today’s filming. A mother had written to them and said she has three uncontrollable children that though she loves, she would want to get a few hours for herself. So that is what 5 Pieces is doing – taking care of the three children.

The first thing they do is to try getting closer to the kids through baking. They all sit down together around the table, the kids loud and even throwing around the dough and Maria is the perfect older sister by strictly telling them not to do that. She really knows how to handle kids. Hannah is good to make them smile; the youngest is a boy who just won’t leave her side and he looks at her with huge eyes whenever she suddenly says something and she will smile and do cute faces for him until those huge eyes turns in to a smile.

“Kids like me,” Hannah smiles up proudly at the camera when she is leaving her seat, trying to walk around the table while the camera-man steps back to let her pass. The boy who had been sitting next to her is looking like he is going to start crying when seeing her walk away, but Hannah just goes to get something and hurries back to her seat next to his to give him her attention again. For some reason, children do like Hannah – maybe because she always does faces to make them smile.

They bake and have fun together. Once the baking is done, waiting for it to get warm, they play games and have more fun. Julia and Carolina get stuck cleaning up, grimacing because they aren’t that good with kids while Emelia and Hannah seem to be on the same level as the kids and Maria is like a mother. Emelia starts to play some mathematic game with the oldest child, who is six, and while playing she also asks her members if they can solve the problems. Hannah is totally ignoring them, knowing she won’t be able to solve the problems and she is instead lying on her stomach on the floor and playing with some toys with the youngest.

“Hannah, say it fast; 4+7,” Emelia says after having a discussion with the child about the numbers.

“Um…”

“See, she can’t do it,” Emelia is fast to say to the child and the whole room seem to laugh over that Hannah didn’t answer.

“It’s eleven! I know!” Hannah whines and throws a piece of the toys at her friend.

The few hours playing with the kids is fun. One time when the middle started to cry for no particular reason, Emelia made her laugh by showing off some hidden talent in beat boxing – she isn’t that good, but it doesn’t sound that bad.

5 Pieces is cheerful when in the middle of the day on Wednesday visiting SBS Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time Radio. The girls are laughing and having fun already when greeting the listeners in the beginning; laughing loudly by that Hannah nervously stutters a little and the girls admits they are a little nervous to meet their senior after such a long time. It’s fun chatting around like a group of friends like this.

“But you have recently released an international single, right? An English version of your popular [Black & White]…” the DJ brings up and she looks at the girls. “Why?”

They laugh at the way she asks them, and she asks them if they think they are great enough to take on the whole world – which she adds for the listeners that she thinks they are.

“No, but the reason we released an international version of the song is because we worked with Melissa Allen for both the song and the single,” Maria simply answers. Because they are asked to do it, they sing a little of the English version – just change the language…

“One thing that I definitely want to bring up is probably something a lot of people have wanted to ask the past days. A really shockingly hot topic right now is Hannah’s ‘bed scenes’. Why, how and with whom?” the DJ asks with a joke. “But seriously, everyone is talking about it. Could someone explain to me what this ‘bed scenes’ is about?”

Hannah’s head had fallen down on her arms resting on the table, hiding embarrassment and laughter. She too has heard about Honggi talking about her, she had seen the clip on YouTube too. Her members are laughing over it too, but they still tell Hannah to explain everything.

“I made my Korean acting debut earlier this year in the drama Midnight Dream,” Hannah starts to explain and chuckles when Emelia mentions she has gotten red in her face. Hannah covers her hot cheeks with her hands. “And for a few scenes, I had to pretend to sleep in a bed next to Honggi. And he said a few days ago in an interview that I always called those scenes for ‘bed scenes’, so I caused some … I don’t know. People were acting strange whenever I said it on the set.”

“And you didn’t find it weird to call it a bed scene even when noticing the reactions?” the DJ wonders.

“No…” Hannah quietly answers and Maria says something that she doesn’t catch up, but Hannah still thinks she should explain as everyone seems to misunderstand for some reason. “A bed scene is a scene in a bed, isn’t it? I don’t know what else to call it. When I said the scene was of us sleeping together-” her members seem to choke, “- people would freak out too! So in the end I just stopped talking… I just don’t get it.”

A bed scene is often mentioned in a scene when there is a scene or some kind of intimate scene in a bed; and sleeping together is the same as having . Hannah looks all innocent though, not understanding why her own members are laughing and Maria even leaves her seat to take a short walk around the room while Carolina is repeating for the listeners that Hannah is still their innocent magnae and Hannah just says she doesn’t know what the big thing is. Carolina pats her on the shoulder.

“It’s good, it’s good,” she says, making Hannah more confused. Even the DJ who is a grown up woman can’t hide herself to laugh over how just innocently Hannah had said those things, and she doesn’t even seem to realise what she has said. Truth is that Hannah knows exactly what she has said, she just don’t think people should have such dirty thoughts as she in fact didn’t say the words with such meaning.

“Let’s quickly change the subject,” Julia says, being the first to gather her self and she is quickly followed by the others.

They keep talking and chatting and doing the usual. Towards the end when they are asked if they have any complex with their looks, when it is Maria’s turn the DJ says someone like Maria can’t have a complex – and sure, all fans must probably think the same, which is why Maria’s answer shocks.

“I have a huge complex!” she bursts out. “I got a big head! I got such a huge head that whenever I am next to someone, I look so big!”

Over how she is talking, everyone is trying to hold in their laughter. Hannah is giggling uncontrollably behind her hand, leaning towards Carolina sitting next to her in a try to not make it too obvious that she is enjoying Maria’s reaction, and Maria is continuing to talk about how she is living poorly because whenever she is on camera or takes a picture she tries to be behind others – Emelia is laughing loudly when hearing it and says that Maria is always at the front (not behind others). Everyone seems to be in such a good mood at the radio program; they finish up at the radio by talking about their fan meeting in China they will have in the evening – as soon as the radio ends the girls will head to Beijing for their fan meeting – and the DJ asks the ladies if they can show some sort of preview for the listeners about what they will show in China.

“最酷的说唱歌手是谁？我在这里！” Emelia is fast to say in Chinese, proudly and coolly.

“What does that mean?” the DJ sounds really interested.

“‘Who is the coolest rapper? I am!’” Emelia answers and nods as if she is saying it is true, the other members scoffing at her though.

“Emelia and Julia will be the only ones talking,” Carolina mutters. “Their Chinese is really good, while the rest of us … aren’t that good.”

“So you two are the popular members in China?”

“Julia is,” Hannah is fast to answer and she smiles widely when Julia thanks her. “She is really popular there.”

“There are so many of you here!” Maria says in a surprised tone when looking out over the 3.000 Chinese fans. Emelia is fast to translate about the same thing in an excited tone to their fans that cheers loudly. “Should we do our greetings first?” Maria asks, looking to her left where the other members are standing. They have finished performing [-erase you-] for the fan meeting and are meeting their Chinese fans for the first time like this.

“Pieces of one (件之一，),” Emelia says out in Chinese and the whole group greets in chorus; “hello, we are 5 Pieces!”

“Um…” Hannah starts off, glancing at her members when trying to remember her greeting. She laughs because fans in front of them give out a scream when she gives a sound on her own in the microphone. “Ni hao… I’m the baobao of Pieces!”

They all laughs when she is done because the only Chinese Hannah remembered was just ‘hello’ and ‘baby’ and the fans are screaming loudly over how cute she says it. Hannah apologizes in English, laughing embarrassedly behind her hand while the others do their greetings in much better prepared Chinese. Truth is, Hannah is always failing on Chinese. She doesn’t know why that language won’t ever get stuck in her memory, and just seeing the amount of fans in here and then she saw the amount of fans outside, she is just so nervous and she keeps pressing her hands together with the microphone between, smiling out over their fans.

After the greetings they get to take their seats on the stage with a male host standing next to them. He will get help by a lady to translate as Julia and Emelia won’t be able to translate everything and they start off talking about how much they have missed to see their Chinese fans, say how excited they are and also promote their newest album (also the international single). Of course Emelia and Julia get to talk the most, giving the lady less work as they talk in Chinese and fans seem to scream nonstop over every single thing they say.

“When were you in China the last time?” the host wonders and when the lady translates, a few fans have started to shout out Hannah’s name, and since Hannah got no idea of what the male host had said she leans forward with the microphone by as she thought she was given a question. When the question has been translated, she looks out at the audience with a questioning look, wondering why they are shouting her name but a fan near the stage shouts out something about SHINee.

“AH!” Hannah remembers, pointing out in nowhere and fans cheers by her expression. “I went to Hong Kong last time when … for SHINee World Concert. It was just recently.”

Julia sitting next to her says in Chinese through the microphone – her voice is really soft and sweet – that it seems like some fans here seemed to have been at the concert. The fans start to shout for some reason, and Hannah doesn’t know if it is a good or bad shout. It’s nothing more than that, so Hannah is quietly listening to them talk and only a few times she shows reactions and says something. They have a really fun time with their fans, talking and being themselves though there is a language barrier – but that makes it fun and exciting too because Maria is good to react before getting the right translation so fans get a lot of laughing – and the best topic is probably about food where everyone is making mistakes in names and it is simply just chaos in the subject from beginning to end.

But like always, fun makes time goes by faster. Julia says that in Chinese sadly to their fans as the fan meeting is coming to an end.

“During 5 Pieces ‘Moon Child’ Tour, we got the chance to come to Shanghai and Nanjing here in China,” Emelia is saying in Chinese during the ending speech. “And though we didn’t get the chance to come to Beijing with our first concert, we are working hard to be able to come here with our next year- ah, don’t be so loud now when I am talking. But what I remember the most is that by every visit in China, every city, our fans have really been welcomed us and made us want to come back really soon and today too, we have been able to spent some really good time with all of you, so thank you for coming and be careful on your way home.”

“Before we will leave, we will say goodbye with our song [Black & White]. Please enjoy,” Julia finishes off saying.

After performing [Black & White] and [Switch], 5 Pieces heads backstage to prepare for a special stage. When getting back up on the stage, surprising their fans, they perform [Original] and [I Love You] too where it seems like all fans present are singing along.

The extremely short time in Beijing is sadly over after that, but 5 Pieces keep giving fan service through the windows and at the airport because fans keep following them. No one seems to want the visit to come to an end and while waiting at the airport, whenever Hannah looks up from her book she sees Julia wave to fans further away. Maria keeps looking over Hannah’s shoulder at what she is reading; Maria has since a year ago told Hannah to read The Mortal Instrument series, and back in August when Hannah went around the country to promote her book she finally started to read. And whenever they travel somewhere now, Hannah is reading one book after another and she is currently reading the fourth book City of Fallen Angels and Maria is really interested to know just where in the book she is just to be able to giggle and get all fan-girl to the books.

When coming back to Seoul the ladies go straight to bed, tired and exhausted from the short trip. And Emelia is walking around talking Chinese, so a headache is coming to the others until their friend gets quiet after lying down in her bed.

“Midnight Dream!” Honggi points to a camera filming him. Hannah is standing behind him, and she leans out with one hand on his shoulder to not loose balance when pointing past him at the camera, repeating the same thing he said. She laughs happily and jumps away; Honggi laughs too.

The five friends from the cast of Midnight Dream have another reunion, and this time it is at a photo shoot. A voting for a popular teen magazine asked teenagers what drama they chose as the best of the year, and Midnight Dream has been chosen as #1. Hannah had arrived after doing a pre-recording of [-erase you-] for M Countdown, and the moment she arrived she noticed that the photo shoot is more like a playground for some reason. The friends are constantly fooling around with each other; talking, making each other laugh while the person is taking photos, making jokes and dances. Yes, they dance to almost every song that is played in the background and at times dancing for other songs and Honggi keeps dancing to Gangnam Style in his mind and the others follows along at times so they look like a bunch of crazy celebrities that need to go to some hospital for help.

Hyejong is standing on the side and hugging Hannah from behind, the two girls quietly chatting while watching the boys doing the photo shoot together. Their giggle turns in to laughing when Honggi is told to change place with Mat, and suddenly the boys are standing in a stair of height: tallest Hyunsuk on the side, Mat in the middle and shortest Honggi next to Mat. It looks hilarious and Honggi is fast to get up on his toes, though he joins in the laughing when Mat tells him he should already be on his toes with the insoles in his shoes.

The girls aren’t wearing any heels, and the whole photo shoot is just hilarious.

During the last break, Hyejong is talking to Hannah about a Japanese drama she is currently filming; the two girls are talking only about that during the break.

“She’s really cool,” Hannah is mumbling when they head back to the shooting, talking about the Japanese actress Hyejong said she is filming with.

“I’m cool too,” Honggi says out of nowhere in front of them. He laughs when Hannah nearly kicks him on his and he jumps forward before taking protection in front of Mat.

Even when taking pictures, Hannah keeps hitting and trying to kick Honggi. But she does have a reason for it because he either puts a finger in to her side or he blows out air on either her cheek or her hair and he laughs out suddenly in an annoying way. And because Hannah almost for every picture together is standing next to him, so she is the victim. But he does the same to the others too whenever he gets the chance, and Hyunsuk joins him at times. In other words; there is an endless laughter at the set.

And a few hours later, Hannah is at M Countdown with her members to perform [Black & White]. Honggi had left the photo shooting earlier because he is the MC at M Countdown, and when Hannah arrives the program has already started. She comes all prepared in her outfit with her hair and make-up done, and when entering the backstage room she gets surprised to just see Emelia sit there of the members. Hyuna is also there, waving happily to Hannah like a friend and Hannah waves back while asking where everyone is.

“Somewhere in the building, I hope,” Emelia answers.

“Ah, this is so cute,” Hannah says cutely to the hair band Hyuna is wearing, making her friend giggle and put her hands to her head, saying ‘isn’t it?’ happily. Emelia and Hyuna had both been sitting and talking, so Hannah sits down on a chair a bit away from them but she talks to them.

When the other members return, Hannah is waving with her whole arm stretched out towards them, smiling and nodding when Maria asks her if it went well. Hannah even shows pictures the friends from the photo shoot had taken together on their cell phones; Hyuna is also curious to see.

The funny thing is that secret cameras have been put up in the room. The ladies think it’s for ‘Life of Pieces’, while it in fact is for another show. When this will air, some familiar people will sit and watch it in another studio, like commentary for the show, and the video will start with Hyuna and Emelia sit and talk so the people will be confused if it is a member in 4 Minute or 5 Pieces they are looking for. When Hannah enters, they will say “ah, it’s 5 Pieces” and such, and the cameras will capture in fast speed with not the best sound to hear what they say how 5 Pieces all gathers in the room and how Hyuna is hanging out with them.

A little later, Hannah is sitting on the sofa; she is wearing a v-neck tank top in black under a black sleeveless vest and a pair of black fitting pants, sitting with a blanket over her legs. Today’s [Black & White] is all in black with all ladies wearing the same black sleeveless vest, but the rest is all different as Maria is wearing a fitting black dress, Emelia’s vest is longer on one side with a pair of fitting pants with lace-up details, Carolina is wearing black shorts and Julia is simply in black pants. All of them look good, like always for a performance. Hannah is sitting with the tablet that Maria was using before, looking through some videos again and scrolling around by using her finger. She looks very comfortable sitting there, currently watching the rehearsal video of their own songs and like always she sings along a little – not loud, just singing along a little like they always do when listening to music. She is using earphones to not disturb others, but no one cares if Hannah is singing because the members keep singing from time to time to both practice and also because they can’t help it at times. She ends up just moving her lips without getting any sound coming out when Julia comes to sit down next to her. The girls are singing, practicing their choreography, watching the music program and chatting backstage in their room, not thinking much at all at the cameras secretly filming them.

A camera team enters the room. The ladies looks confused seeing it, but all of them gathers around when Emelia accepts a envelope and the girls are standing close to each other while asking what it is about. Julia chuckles, saying she recognizes the camera team, but she is quiet to let them open the envelope. Carolina is hugging Julia from behind, resting her chin on Julia’s shoulder while Hannah is standing next to Emelia and trying to look next to her shoulder at what the envelope will show.

“It doesn’t say who it is from…” Emelia says after scanning the card they have received. She reads out loud; “’You will start your marriage life with someone who thinks you are his ideal type. Go meet your husband.’” Of course she will go meet her husband when the schedule is over.

“It’s not me, I did it already,” Julia happily says as it now has been confirmed to be We Got Married. The girls still doesn’t know which one of them is the chosen lady to get married.

“I want to get married,” Maria says with wide open, looking at her members with envy by the thought of marriage.

“Emelia is the oldest,” Hannah mentions and she giggles when Emelia doesn’t seem to like the idea.

“Ya, I’m the leader. I’m fit for marriage too,” Maria says and her members either laughs or looks at her as that is not true – well, she is the leader, but she is not fit for marriage: At least not a Korean marriage. Hannah thinks Emelia can be the one, because she is the oldest among them; and having a scary marriage would be fun.

Another envelope is given to them, and Emelia opens it while Carolina says that it would be fun it Julia would do a follow-up of her marriage. “We divorced already,” Julia jokes and the two of them giggles for themselves. Emelia takes out a second card and burst out laughing when seeing one name written big over the card: “MARIA!”

Laughter bursts out all over the room, even their stylists and managers hiding behind the staff are laughing while Maria is the only one cheering. “YA!” Maria bursts out when Carolina laughs so much that she falls down on her on the floor from laughing. “Stop laughing you idiots. I deserve this. I’m going to be the perfect wife.”

“You won’t be able to do it,” Emelia says, stopping to laugh and gets serious. “If he wants you to cook for him or sit prettily, will you do it?”

Maria’s face goes blank when looking at the rapper. She won’t be able to do that. But Hannah remembers something, so when she has melted the fact that Maria will join We Got Married; she asks them all who thinks of Maria as his ideal type.

“Am I someone’s ideal type?” Maria gets the card to look at it happily. “Wow… Who is it then?”

“I think it’s a prank,” Emelia shakes her head.

Shortly after they need to get ready for their performance, but Maria seems so happy that she will join We Got Married. She had last year actually done an interview for the program in hope to become a new couple at that time, but Julia got the spot instead so now when she finally gets her will through she walks around saying it to whoever she meets, also asking the other idols if they have heard if any male artist is joining the new couple. Maria seems to have an endless energy during their performance, singing for full and she is using a lot of power in her dancing too.

While Maria seem to have all the energy in the world, Emelia seems to have lost her voice when the performance is over. Hannah is standing next to her, hugging her friend’s arm, while they are standing on the stage with all the other artists for the ending of the show. MC Honggi is in the middle with 5 Pieces standing on his left side, and today Hannah is standing closer to the middle than usual with only Emelia between her and Honggi. Cameras for ‘Life of Pieces’ are filming on the side now; their reality show will film the ending and also when the girls are backstage because today is their last day filming for the program, and when they are leaving the building the ‘We Got Married’ team will film Maria as she will go meet her mysterious husband.

Hannah is clapping her hands without making any sound while the winner is being counted. Honggi’s voice is heard and he gives out an ‘aaaah’ when the winner is showed before he happily announces; “5 Pieces [Black & White]!”

Because the girls didn’t win last week on M Countdown, they didn’t really think they would win this week either. Hannah laughs and bows lightly to no one in particular and Honggi gives Emelia the microphone to let her say some words but Emelia gives Hannah the microphone and quietly tells the youngest that her voice won’t come out well. So Hannah takes the microphone, smiling while the ladies on her left side have been cheering as if they haven’t gotten first before, but when Hannah is about to speak they do seem to calm down like they always do to let the one talking get heard.

“Woa, thank you!” Hannah laughs awkwardly, not used to be the one to say thanks to people. “We would like to thank Melissa Allen and all of the people who helped out with the song and album, also SM Entertainment and Lee Sooman Teacher, our SM Town family, our stylists and managers and dancers, and Pete and Hyekyung… And also our members, 5 Pieces, and our fans, Puzzle! Thank you so much!”

Hannah bows deeply after returning the microphone to Honggi who reaches out a hand to give her a congratulating pat on her shoulder. Hannah feels like she is being pressed together when her group moves in for a hug while Honggi and Suzy say the last ending before the encore starts. The moment the encore starts, Honggi turns to 5 Pieces to give exactly all five of them a friendly hug. The girls are waving to the shouting fans, they also move their bodies while fans are singing along to their song and dancers come up on the stage too.

“Everyone! I’m getting married!” Maria announces towards the end. Fans starts to scream their lungs out, some saying no while others ask with whom. “I will meet him later,” she informs them and sends them all a kiss with her hand. “But even as a married woman, you will always be closest in my heart. Thank you!”

Back in their room, the girls are cheering and celebrating by taking pictures and talking and they are being filmed for their final ‘Life of Pieces’ episode too.

“We won,” Hannah says when stepping up to one of the cameras, smiling widely and she shows the trophy she had taken from Carolina to show. “Our fans are truly amazing, thank you~”

“Today is the last filming of ‘Life of Pieces’,” the camera-woman mentions.

“No it’s not,” Hannah suddenly pouts, hugging the trophy. “Can’t we film another season?”

Maria steps up next to Hannah, putting an arm around her. “Didn’t you hear? We will film 100 episodes! It was decided because we love ‘Life of Pieces’ and ‘Life of Pieces’ loves us … and because it will feel so empty not being followed around by cameras.”

Hannah nods sadly, but she turns to Maria so her friend’s arm falls down, holding out the trophy a little. “But we will still do a lot of fun things, right?”

“We will keep stealing your hearts,” Maria answers towards the camera and pretends to capture it with her hand before she takes the trophy to walk away, Hannah following behind her like a tail.
