Chapter 31 - Another Unplanned Sleepover

Sungmin keeps on rolling here and there inside his tent. He can't sleep. The light is already closed and Kyuhyun is not talking as well. He thinks that Kyuhyun is already asleep. Well, it is already almost two in the morning. He can't blame Kyuhyun for sleeping immediately after moving the table where his tent was. Kyuhyun told him to use the sofa but he insisted to use the tent.

So there he is, inside the tent, but he is still not sleeping. He is used to sleeping early so he is also amazed that he is still awake that time. Probably, it is because he is sleeping at another person's house, and he is not comfortable at all.

He remembers all of a sudden that moment when Kyuhyun was above him on the same tent. Come to think of it, it was already the second time that it happened, although the first time was Kyuhyun being the person below him. He blushes. It really feels different before than what happened hours ago. He did not feel anything but dislike for Kyuhyun the first time that happened. But now, he's feeling stuffy and all.

He sighs. He just tells himself to stop thinking about it and sleep. Besides, the feeling is unrecognizable and he is Lee Sungmin, the person who recovers easily. He must not make himself uncomfortable because of unwanted thoughts bugging his mind.

He does not know why Kyuhyun is taking a leave. It is bugging him for no definite reason and it is very annoying for Sungmin. Not that he wants to see Kyuhyun everyday - far from it. Definitely far from it.

Because thirty minutes has already passed, and he is far from sleepy, he opens his phone and finds a good game to play. He does not play games often but he really has to play to kill time.

"You're still awake?"

Sungmin fails to swipe the screen of his phone that is why his character dies after falling into water. He is suddenly irritated that he wants to throw his phone - he is near his previous high score yet he dies because of one voice. Wait, one voice? He sits and crawls to open his tent and sees Kyuhyun facing his tent. "Eh? You're awake?"

"I was asleep but I woke up with the noise and the light from your phone," Kyuhyun says. Sungmin realizes that he forgot to turn off the sound effects and music.

"Oh." He puts his phone on silent. "You're a light-sleeper."

"I guess. Can't you sleep because you're uncomfortable? I told you to sleep on the sofa," Kyuhyun speaks again. "Or do you want to use my bed?"

"What the are you saying!? We can't sleep on one bed!" Sungmin exclaims as his face flushes red. Damn this jerk.

Kyuhyun laughs heartily and Sungmin's eyebrows meet. "Uhm, I didn't mean that we would share one bed. You can use my bed and I'll use the sofa so that you'll feel comfortable. But if you want to sleep with me on my bed then it's okay."

" off," Sungmin hisses and closes the tent. Good thing, the phone's light is a bit pale and the whole place is dark so Kyuhyun can't see him blushing. But what the hell is wrong with that guy anyway? He turns the phone light off and lies on the bed as he closes his eyes. But it is not working. He is still not sleepy.

"Come on, Sungmin, I know you can't sleep so let us just talk about some things," Kyuhyun says as he opens Sungmin's tent. Sungmin sits down all of a sudden because he is startled. "I can't sleep and it's your fault, so let us better use this time to talk about things you want to talk to me about."

"I don't have anything to talk to you about," Sungmin denies as he looks away. Kyuhyun pulls his arm and pulls Sungmin out of the tent. "Kyuhyun! Let me sleep!"

"You can't sleep so get out," Kyuhyun says as he continues to pull Sungmin out of his tent. Sungmin has no choice but to obey.

Kyuhyun takes him near the sofa. Kyuhyun sits on the floor while Sungmin sits on the sofa. However, the former pulls Sungmin out of the sofa that Sungmin falls on the floor. "Ouch, it hurts!"

"Sorry," Kyuhyun murmurs and leans backwards to the sofa as he sits beside Sungmin. "Anyway, let's start. I know that you had some things to clarify but you failed to do so hours ago."

Sungmin looks away again. "I told you I don't have one to talk to you about. And why are we talking with the lights off?"

"This is more romantic," Kyuhyun chuckles. Sungmin's face blushes again. "I'm joking."

"What the hell? Do you seriously joke at this hour? You're really weird," Sungmin comments as he leans on the sofa as well. "Well, I told you, I don't want to talk about anything."

"I am taking a leave for a month. Doesn't it bother you?" Kyuhyun asks straightforwardly.

Sungmin immediately responses, "No! Why would it bother me? And besides, I really don't care, you know? Leave forever, I won't even ask you why."

Kyuhyun smiles. "And why were you avoiding me, may I ask?"

"Who's avoiding who? I was not avoiding you. It's just that I- I don't want to talk to you about it. I know you have a reason and Donghae might be right about it."

"What did Donghae tell you?" Kyuhyun asks in curiosity. He didn't tell anything about Donghae so he is very curious.

"He said that you were working too hard that you could not have time for yourself. I can see that, and I've always wanted you to take a rest, but you don't listen to me," Sungmin replies.

"Well, it is part of it, but it is not really the reason," Kyuhyun says softly, almost whispering.

"Then what is it? N-not that I am curious though. Just for the sake of keeping this conversation up," Sungmin says. It is unnecessary because he sounds like he is defensive, and Sungmin silently hopes that Kyuhyun does not pay attention to it.

"I am searching for someone important for me to be free, and I need a month to prepare for our meeting," Kyuhyun answers. "It took me almost eight years to be weak and months to decide, and I guess this is already the time to take that person back."

Sungmin just stares at Kyuhyun. He does not understand anything, but he can feel what Kyuhyun is expressing that time. His voice is full of regrets, but his words are full of determination. Something makes him jealous all of a sudden. Jealous of what Kyuhyun can do in order for him to be free, and ironically, Sungmin thinks that he acts according to his free will, but people still influence him.

"Now that I told you, would you stop pushing me to Ryeowook?"

Sungmin chuckles. "Why are you suddenly talking about Ryeowook?" Sungmin asks and grins maliciously. "Do you miss him already?"

"No," Kyuhyun answers plainly. "It is just that it is very annoying."

Sungmin asks again, "Why? Are you sure that I am pushing you together? Don't be too full of yourself Kyuhyun."

"Do not deny it. I know your plan. I also know that Donghae is an accomplice. And as I said... I have someone in my heart right now and I don't think I can ever forget."

Sungmin feels something that pinches his heart for an unknown reason. Probably, he feels sorry for Ryeowook because Kyuhyun admitted that he has someone else already. That is it, he convinces himself, but something is telling him that there is something more.

Kyuhyun is not really that close to him to open up all of a sudden. Maybe Kyuhyun already accepted - and confirmed - him as a friend but it is just it. Or is Kyuhyun still sleepy that is why he is saying such things? Not that he doesn't want Kyuhyun to open up to him, but it makes him curious.

Sungmin dares make Kyuhyun tell him the person's name. "And... that someone is? I won't believe you if you are just saying this for the sake of stopping me and Donghae from setting you up with my best friend."

"So you are admitting that you are setting me up with your best friend?" Kyuhyun asks back. "Don't try to deny it, Lee Sungmin. I read Ryeowook's actions before."

"You are too wise to realize that. But you are a jerk for not even liking my best friend. He is the best person you can have!" Sungmin tries to change Kyuhyun's thinking about Ryeowook, but he knows that he fails when Kyuhyun speaks.

"I don't want the best that I can have. I want the person that I love," he says in a deep and serious voice, enough for Sungmin to feel giddy inside. He can't believe that Kyuhyun is really deep when it comes to love and everything.

"But I won't give up, Kyuhyun. I'll make you realize that Ryeowook is for you. I'll make you love him," Sungmin declares. He must do it because he promised to his best friend that he would help him as much as he can.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, Sungmin, but that won't happen," Kyuhyun says. Sungmin feels a weight on his shoulder, and he realizes that it is Kyuhyun's head. He blushes again. "It feels really light right now because I opened up to a friend."

"Hey," he looks at Kyuhyun who has his eyes closed. "You have a bed so don't sleep!"

"Since you don't want to sleep on the sofa nor on the bed and I know that you can't sleep in the tent so I'll just join you here," Kyuhyun says. "Good night, Lee Sungmin. Sleep well."

Sungmin tries to wake Kyuhyun again, but he does not open his eyes. Sungmin sighs. "This guy... seriously."

Sungmin wakes up. He can't believe that he is able to sleep.

He is now on the bed so he gets up. What is he even doing in the bed? More specifically, on Kyuhyun's bed?

He can remember it clearly, Kyuhyun slept with his head leaning on Sungmin's shoulder. And after a few minutes of silence, Sungmin also felt sleepy all of a sudden, and he slept pretty deeply while leaning on Kyuhyun's head.

His face turns bright red again.

"It is just because I can't move, and I don't want to wake him up! That's it, it is unintentional!" He says to himself. He searches for his tent and finds it folded on the dining table which is back to its original place. He then searches for Kyuhyun but he is nowhere to be found.

He looks at his wrist watch and he learns that it is already nine in the morning. Kyuhyun did not even bother to wake him up earlier so that he could go home earlier.

He leaves the bed and goes to the bathroom to freshen up. He takes all his things and looks for Kyuhyun. He finds him outside, sprinkling the plants with water, including the marigold. "Did you lift me? Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You slept soundly. You were even snoring so I didn't wake you up. I lifted you, yes, and I realize that you are really heavy," Kyuhyun answers.

"Hey! I don't snore!" Sungmin shouts. "And I am certainly not heavy!"

"If you said so," Kyuhyun says as he continues to sprinkle water. "Come here."

"Why?" Sungmin asks but he still obeys Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun shows the pot of marigold to him. "Is that my marigold?"

"'My,' I am just making you borrow it," Kyuhyun corrects. "Anyway, do not water the plant too much. Just make the soil moist. And put it where the sun is directly shining. Cut the-"

"I know that," Sungmin cuts in. "I am going home. Thanks again for this."

When Sungmin gets the pot of marigold with his two hands, Kyuhyun tries to hold the pot, but he ends up holding Sungmin's hands instead. His eyes meet Sungmin's eyes and, as exaggerated as it seems, they feel that the time stops until Kyuhyun speaks. "Take care of my heart, Sungmin."
