Chapter 15 - Let's Go Study

Kyuhyun takes a long deep breath and exhales it in one go. He closes his eyes and fists tightly as he puts them on the terrace bar. He opens his eyes after a few seconds, and see that Siwon entering a car.

He is a senior student, and he will be graduating. He is only one of the few who is intelligent and actually uses his brain despite of his looks and riches. There is a rumor that Siwon likes men too so his popularity decreases as he becomes a senior student in Inhwan. There is also a rumor where some students see him kissing a freshman in Inhwan. He becomes annoyed when he remembers how he clinged to Sungmin. How can they be friends? He knows how Sungmin dislikes Inhwan and its students. But why is he with him? Do they have a relationship more than friends?

He shakes his head and from the terrace, he watches Siwon's car go. He calms himself but he still feels punching that Siwon's face. Don't you dare flirt with Sungmin or you'll get what you deserve, he thinks. After a few minutes, he comes back. "You're late, Lee Sungmin." He sees the three, Donghae sitting on the floor while Ryeowook and Sungmin are talking to each other. He can't hear anything they are saying. They also don't look at him. So he walks towards Donghae. "You're alright?"

"How can he be close to that maniac?" Donghae asks. "I just realized that he was that popular senior who had a huge scandal in Inhwan... my life is ruined!"

"Stop overacting, Donghae," Kyuhyun says calmly even if he himself becomes agitated again at that thought.

It seems that the best friends are finished talking to each other that they both approach Kyuhyun and Donghae. "Come, let's eat the snacks first!" Sungmin suggests.

"How about stop procastinating and study, Sungmin?" Kyuhyun says to Sungmin.

His voice is back to being cold, as Sungmin notices. He had a very good mood hours ago, but he turns into a cold monster again. "I will study in a few, I need to get rest."

"You're not even working, why should you rest? Are you tired from whatever you did with Siwon- that guy?" Kyuhyun asks coldly. "Probably you did something very tiring, huh?"

"Why are you even concerned, you ?" Sungmin asks back, now irritated at Kyuhyun's way of speaking. "Yes, I am very tired! Now, can we proceed to eating?"

"Uhm, guys, let's just... calm down," Ryeowook says as he notices that the tension between Kyuhyun and Sungmin again. "I'll bring the cookies and macaroons here, okay? Those who want to eat can eat. Donghae, can you go with me and prepare the snacks?"

Donghae stands and follows Ryeowook to the kitchen half-heartedly. He wants to ask Sungmin about Siwon, but he thinks that he needs to calm himself first too.

"Twerp, you're suddenly acting like a jerk again!" Sungmin tells Kyuhyun as the other two leave.

Kyuhyun just remains silent.

"Okay fine, if you don't want to speak then fine," Sungmin sits on the sofa and sulks. He murmurs, "This guy's really fickle-minded. It makes me want to kick him again."

Donghae and Ryeowook come with a tray of cookies and macaroons, and the former seems alright now. His aura is light again, and he is smiling widely as he approaches Sungmin first. "Sungmin, I heard you like macaroons so..."

Sungmin suddenly changes his mood and gets one to eat. "Delicious!"

Donghae gives him a wide grin.

"You're really different from that best friend of yours. His mood swing is uncool," Sungmin glares at Kyuhyun who opens his book and reads. "That nerd is such a jerk."

Donghae shakes his head, "Anyway, I learned from Ryeowook that you're tutored by Siwon. So... are you something more?"

Sungmin looks at Donghae, questioning him with his look. "Something more?"

"Are you lovers? Not that I'm... I mean-"

Sungmin lets out of a laugh. "Lovers? No! He's the son of a lawyer in my father's firm. My father asked me to go to their house so that he could tutor me."

"Oh. Why is he being clingy to you?" Donghae shyly asks. "U-uh, not that I'm against it, it's just that-"

"Why are you asking me these questions, Donghae? Well, Siwon's just a tutor. He likes skinship so much, and I actually hate it. But I guess there's nothing wrong with it. He's cool and friendly," Sungmin gasps. "Oh it's almost five-thirty. We have to keep moving!"

Donghae just nods.

Kyuhyun heard all of it. He smiles and thinks that there is nothing to worry and to be jealous of after all.

Kyuhyun is finished reviewing in English. It is almost seven in the evening, and dinner's being cooked by Donghae and Ryeowook, so he is left alone with Sungmin again.

He rolls his eyes as he observes him. He has been reading a manga since five-thirty. Instead of studying in the last two hours, he asked Donghae to give him time to read one volume of manga. But he ends up reading all three volumes. And yes, he keeps on looking at him. Fortunately, he is able to finish English even so.

"Damn it," Kyuhyun curses. He is now distracted by Sungmin again. He stands and sits beside Sungmin and asks him, "Are you going to study or not?"

"Mind your own business," he says and he does not bother to look at Kyuhyun. "Donghae and Ryeowook are not yet here to teach me English and Biology."

"I am distracted because I keep looking at you," Kyuhyun slips. He blushes as he realizes what he just said. Good thing, Sungmin does not hear it because he continues reading. "I-I mean... your presence distracts me."

Sungmin closes the manga that he just finished and glares at Kyuhyun. "Why don't you just leave if that is so?"

Kyuhyun changes the topic, "I will teach you English just until Donghae is finished. Where are your notebooks?"

"Oh please, I don't want you to tutor me, besides, we're not friends as you say so don't act like you're concerned," Sungmin says to Kyuhyun and stands. He is about to go elsewhere but Kyuhyun grabs his wrist and pulls him back to his seat. His hits the floor. "Ouch! It hurts, you idiot!"

"Stop whining and do your best," Kyuhyun says and puts his notebook in English in front of Sungmin. "Because if you pass your subjects, I promise I'll consider you as my friend."

Sungmin looks suspiciously at Kyuhyun and feels the chills that he experienced when he talked to Kyuhyun on the phone. Kyuhyun is looking at him in the eyes. He speaks, "Why are you really doing this? You act arrogant and all hours ago, but now you're saying this. I can't understand you, Cho."

"Someday, you will. Someday, I'll be able to express to you what I really feel. I am acting like this because I am concerned. And as a friend, I want to be concerned, Lee," he says in English, leaving Sungmin frozen. Sungmin blinks his eyes because he is amazed at Kyuhyun's ability to speak a foreign language. And he cannot catch up.

"What are you saying!? I can't understand that. That sentence is too long and your face is seriously annoying," Sungmin tells Kyuhyun as he looks away and opens Kyuhyun's notebook.

"That's why, you have to study English," Kyuhyun teases. "Now, work it. We need to finish one or two pointers before dinner."

Dinner time. Donghae is proud of himself for earning a compliment from Sungmin.

"Oh my gosh, Donghae, this is amazing!" Sungmin exclaims. "Pumpkin soup to a whole new level."

"Glad you like it," Donghae shyly scratches the back of his head. "I made it especially for you, because I learned that you liked pumpkins."

Sungmin scoops and eats another spoonful of all pumpkin dishes that Donghae made. He feels so hungry upon seeing all dishes on the table. He is enticed to eat them all. Donghae stares at Sungmin as he eats.

Kyuhyun intentionally coughs to get the attention of Donghae and Sungmin, but he fails. He just hisses.

"Oh yeah, Kyuhyun, Ryeowook cooked the dishes that are not made of pumpkins," Donghae reminds Ryeowook to serve his cooking to Kyuhyun.

"Kyuhyun, try this. I cooked this," he tells Kyuhyun and pushes the bowl of meat and green bell pepper sauce. Kyuhyun looks at it for a very long time. It is the same dish that his mother cooked for him and Jino.

"Yah, Cho! Eat that, it doesn't have poison or anything, so don't be choosy. Ryeowook made that for you so you have to eat it," Sungmin speaks in between eating. "Come on, Cho!"

Kyuhyun digs in and puts a spoonful in his mouth. It doesn't taste like how his mother cooked it for him and Jino, but it is also delicious. He remains silent while everyone is waiting for his judgement.

He remembers Jino once again. He wants to go to that house where he left him once the school year is over. He is going to take his chances of seeing Jino during vacation because there is a high probability that Jino will be home on vacation.

"Cho?"

Sungmin's voice takes him back to reality. He looks at everyone and sees them all watching him. He then speaks, "It's delicious."

Ryeowook smiles and Sungmin taps his arm secretly. "T-thank you."

After dinner, Ryeowook volunteers to wash the dishes. Donghae and Sungmin starts reviewing the other pointers for English. Kyuhyun sits on the sofa and studies Geometry.

"Then I put a frog in his pants!" Donghae and Sungmin laughs hardly at the former's story. Instead of reviewing for English, they discuss Donghae's childhood story about the bullies in their town. Sungmin grows fond of listening to it, so he lets Donghae continue it. "He jumped and jumped until he fell in the pond!"

Sungmin taps Donghae's arm and laughs more. "You're good, Donghae!"

Kyuhyun gets irritated with all the noise so he scolds them, "Please, can you keep quiet!? I am studying here!"

"Sorry, your highness," Sungmin apologizes and snickers. He lowers down his voice and continues to talk to Donghae. But he fails to stop laughing when Donghae shows him the doodles in his notebook.

Ryeowook comes out from the kitchen. Kyuhyun stands and tells the rest that he's leaving. "I can't study here. I must go now."

Donghae looks at him and chases Kyuhyun who is about to open the door. "I thought you're sleeping over?"

"No," Kyuhyun turns to Donghae. "Your noise is distracting me."

"Please Kyuhyun? Stay for a while and help Ryeowook to study in Biology," Donghae suggests. "Don't worry. We'll keep our voices down."

Kyuhyun sighs. "Alright. Three more hours and I'll go home."

Donghae nods and tells Ryeowook to join Kyuhyun to keep him there. Ryeowook nods and approaches Kyuhyun. "Kyuhyun... u-uhm... c-can we review biology together? There are things that I need to clarify so..."

Kyuhyun nods without looking at him. Ryeowook smiles as he sits beside Kyuhyun and opens his book.

It is already nine in the evening when Ryeowook and Kyuhyun finish studying in Biology, and Sungmin and Donghae finish reviewing English. Donghae begins reviewing Biology and invites Sungmin to study together. Ryeowook studies English alone and Kyuhyun studies Geometry again. After two hours, without any distractions, Sungmin and Donghae finish reviewing Biology. No one is speaking so everyone feels sleepy. Ryeowook tells everyone that he is sleepy so he's going to study early the next day. He goes to his room and sleeps. Donghae falls asleep on the table while reviewing Geometry.

Sungmin has no choice but to study Geometry all by himself since he can't ask for Kyuhyun's help because he is already going home. However, his notes are getting blurry and there are different images forming in his head so he can't understand all the sample problems that he is solving.

"Damn it," Sungmin curses and shakes his head. "How can I go on!? I can't understand my notes."

"I am going," Kyuhyun tells Sungmin as he puts his notebooks in his bag.

"Why don't you stay here? It's very late, Kyu..."

"Kyu," he repeats. He blushes as he hears it. The mention of his nickname makes him giddy. Only his family calls him that. And it is refreshing that Sungmin calls him that. He smiles and looks at Sungmin who is sitting on the floor and sleeping while leaning on a one-seater sofa. He sighs as he approaches Sungmin and sits beside him. He sees Sungmin's Geometry notebook and browses it. "Seriously. He can't pass with all these solutions."

He chuckles as he sees different Korean characters written mixed up with numbers. But what he is surprised to see is the character of 'Kyu' is written on one page. Maybe it is because Sungmin's too sleepy that he wrote random things.

He glances at Sungmin again. He sighs and gets his phone from his pocket and secretly takes a photo of Sungmin while sleeping. "You're so cute. I have a new wallpaper now," he says and puts the phone in his pocket.

He takes Sungmin's notebook and stays for another two hours to write a reviewer for him.
