2NE1 has proven their power as a steady seller even just four years after the release of “I AM THE BEST”!

After their music video for “I AM THE BEST" hit 100 million views, the iconic single became a hit single yet again by taking the number one spot on American Billboard’s “World Digital Songs” chart. The song has topped the chart 84 weeks after entering it, showing its incredible, almost “zombie-like” rise to the top.

On October 6th, Billboard’s online site published a news article titled “2NE1’S ‘I AM THE BEST ’ Tops World Digital Songs Chart After Big Sales Week”. Billboard stated that this is a huge moment for 2NE1. Not only because their music video hit 100 million views, but also because “‘I AM THE BEST’ is the only non-PSY k-pop song to hit No. 1 on the chart”.

As we mentioned before, the song has appeared in many forms of media in the Western market. It’s been used in a Microsoft commercial, on “So You Think You Can Dance”, and even on the show “The Bachelor”. These appearances seem to have played a major role for “I AM THE BEST” to take the number one spot on the chart. Just last week, “I AM THE BEST” sold 6,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Billboard also noted the cultural impact of 2NE1’S “I AM THE BEST”. The music video has been recognized for its artistic quality, it even topped Billboard’s “2NE1’S Must-See Music Video TOP5” list, which they published in celebration of 2NE1’s fifth year anniversary since their debut.

2NE1’s second full-length album, “CRUSH”, was released in March of this year. Continuing their success, this album also broke records as the “biggest-ever first-week sales in the United States for a k-pop album.” It even ranked 61st place on the Billboard album chart, which is the highest-ever rank for a k-pop album.
