Korea's indie bands will receive international exposure
K-NewsMany of Korea’s lesser known indie bands will be attending the upcoming MU:CON Seoul 2014!
Aside from K-pop, Korea is known for its numerous indie bands, many of whom will be attendingMU:CON Seoul 2014 from Oct. 6th - 8th.
Starting in 2012, MU:CON was formed as part of a government effort to show listeners that there were other forms of music besides K-pop, including indie bands who are known for their atypical music styles and genres. The event consists of three parts: a conference where international executives discuss the latest global trends in the music industry, the business pitching session, and, possibly the highlight of the event, the MU:CON Global Music Showcase.
Reaching its third year, the event continues to grow, as an explosive number of 310 teams from 41 different countries have joined, and over 70 international speakers attending.
MU:CON is especially important to these bands, who neither receive radio nor tv exposure, because more than 100 local and international music industry talent-searching executives will be present.
Two bands who performed last year, Jambini and Glen Check, both received opportunities to showcase their music overseas and will be performing again in this year’s showcase.
