Blitz Magazine

Updating now instead of tomorrow because I'll be busy trying to finish up my assignments. Wish me luck.

Here's the RETURN OF CUTELY-DRUNK-DROWSY-JAE due to sleep and meds.

You're welcome.

Jaejoong woke you up by crashing into his vanity table, causing some of the glass bottles to fall and break into tiny pieces.

‘WHAT THE !?’ You woke up with a start and scanned around the bedroom.

You had fallen asleep by Jaejoong’s bedside as you were busy changing the icepacks on his burning forehead and checking his temperature every hour or so the night before.

You noticed Jaejoong slowly bending down in an attempt to pick up the glass shards on the floor. You immediately got up, not caring that your legs felt like jelly from a whole night of kneeling by the bed, causing you to fall flat on your face.

‘DON’T PICK ANY OF THEM UP, JAEJOONG! DON’T!’ You yelled and Jaejoong slowly turned his head to give you a blank look.

‘Stay,’ it was awkward to treat Jaejoong like a pet but it worked, because he straightened back up and kept staring at you like as if waiting for your next order.

You recovered your ability to walk a few minutes later and went over to tug at Jaejoong’s arm to lead you both to the kitchen.

‘Sit,’ you pulled out a chair in the kitchen for Jaejoong and he sat down slowly with a dazed look.

You chuckled at Jaejoong's obedience and prepared to cook him porridge so he could take his medicine after filling his empty stomach.

‘Chicken or fish?’ You turned around to ask the sick-and-sleep-drunk Jaejoong.

He tilted his head adorably in question and you couldn’t help but walk over to ruffle his soft ebony hair while grinning like an idiot, ‘Do you want chicken or fish porridge?’

‘Whichever… is… easier for you…to cook.’ Jaejoong smiled shyly up at you.

Your heart fluttered while you cooed and pinched his baby soft cheeks softly, ‘Okay. Chicken porridge it is, I don’t want you choking on fish bones.’

Jaejoong took some time to process your words then shook his head cutely, ‘Choking… would… be bad.’

You laughed and continued preparing Jaejoong’s porridge.

20 minutes later, the food was completed and you took the bowl and sat down beside Jaejoong.

Jaejoong looked at you expectantly.

‘Want me to feed you?’ You smiled.

Jaejoong played with his fingers coyly then nodded slightly while looking down.

Gawd, you’re killing me with your cuteness,’ you did your best not to squish Jaejoong to death.

It took half an hour for Jaejoong to finish all his food and when he burped cutely after his last spoonful of porridge, he immediately blinked profusely with his huge doe eyes and covered his mouth with both hands.

Unable to look at you due to embarrassment, it took a few minutes of coaxing from you to tell him that it was totally all right to burp as long as he said excuse me after that.

‘Excuse me,’ Jaejoong flushed red and you patted his head with a shaky hand because you were using every ounce of willpower within you not to jump on this beautifully helpless being before your extremely hungry eyes.

‘Time for your medicine, Jaejoong,’ you went and came back, approaching him with a pill and a glass of water.

Jaejoong’s rosy lips quivered in fear, ‘It’s…hard to swallow...pills.’

‘I’ll smash it up for you so it won’t feel as bad doing down your throat okay?’ You gave Jaejoong an encouraging smile.

Jaejoong whimpered while shivering but resigned to his fate by nodding quite some time later.

‘Don’t think about it, just pretend it’s just water and swallow it,’ you told Jaejoong, who’s cheeks were now puffed up because he was unwilling to swallow the contents in his (pretty) mouth.

Jaejoong began to tear and you used both thumbs to wipe them away.

‘Please, Jaejoong? You’ll feel so much better after taking your meds.’

Jaejoong shut his eyes tightly and gulped it all down.

‘Good job,’ you cupped both sides of his face and kissed his forehead, ‘Now, let’s get you back to bed, shall we?’

Jaejoong’s face brightened up and he immediately grabbed your outreached hand.

Jaejoong recovered from his high fever after 2 days and it was back to tolerating his bipolar diva-iness… for life.

‘I heard Yunho’s side of the story but I would like to hear from the victim-slash-idiot first hand,’ Jaejoong said angrily while flipping though this month’s Black File.

‘Look, it was a really tough spot to fill okay!?’ You’re this uber talented Fashion Gawd and I’m just… I’m just a normal girl who majors in journalism, and firmly holds on to her lifelong belief that tee shirts, jeans and sneakers all are that she needs in a wardrobe.’

Jaejoong opened his mouth to speak but closed it a second later.

‘Heo and Number 3 were in cahoots and they were part of the reason why I chose to accept being fired- because I let my guard down and allowed myself to fall into their trap. But the bigger reason was that I was soooooo tired, Jaejoong. I was panicking every single day. What if it’s not up to expectations? What if I need to redo this photoshoot? Why is it that I feel like I’ve forgotten something really important?’ You sighed, ‘But now… I’m free, Jaejoong! I don't have to give a about anything! My heart feels lighter and for once in my work life, I don’t need to wake up to the sound of an emergency call or text from work. I’m free!’

Jaejoong frowned, ‘Then what about the Wardrobe? Are you that heartless? After spending almost two years there, you’re just going to let all your hard work and experience go to waste!?’

Jaejoong’s words stung but you retaliated, ‘I was never passionate about fashion, and the reason I stayed was because of you. Then all of a sudden, you’re whisked away to New York and I’m expected to produce work on par with yours. Who the are you to say I’m heartless!? I ing took on your job! If it’s not for my love for you and Blitz magazine, then tell me what it is!’

Jaejoong looked away in anger.

You sighed, ‘Let’s stop fighting.’

‘It’s not like its the first time we’re screaming at each other anyway,’ Jaejoong muttered, ‘We’ll survive… right?’

You couldn’t help but chuckle, ‘Yeah.’

Then there was momentary silence between you both.

‘Kiss and make up?’ Jaejoong held his arms out towards you.

‘Sounds good,’ you laughed and moved closer to embrace Jaejoong.

Jaejoong made a sound of disapproval and you looked up towards him.

What?’ You questioned.

‘We’re supposed to kiss,’ Jaejoong pouted adorably.

You laughed and leaned forward to capture his lips with yours.

‘Before I met you, my attendance at work had always been 100%.’ Jaejoong bubbled.

‘That, I believe,’ you smiled as you stuffed your face with pasta.

‘And I’ve definitely come a long way,’ Jaejoong stated as he lifted up a slice of pizza, ‘Skipping work even though I’m already recovered and what’s worse, eating pizza.’

You almost choked on your food while laughing with your mouth full.

‘You’re really addicted to that, aren’t you?’ You gulped down your glass of lemonade.

‘Yeah,’ Jaejoong admitted, ‘Feels like a pregnancy craving.’

This time, you choked on your drink.

‘Speaking of which, are you pregnant yet?’ Jaejoong asked casually and you put your fork back down on your plate.

Why? Want a child?’ You frowned.

‘No. It's just that we’ve been doing the deed pretty frequently before I left, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me you’re having a monster in you.’

‘Apparently, your worms aren’t strong enough.’ You jeered.

‘Or maybe your ground isn’t fertile enough.’ Jaejoong challenged.

‘We’re not having this conversation here,’ you remembered that the two of you were in a fancy Italian restaurant in an upscale area of Seoul.

Fine,’ Jaejoong continued to savour his pizza.

Jaejoong was having a rather heated (he insisted that it was passionate) argument with Changmin on the phone over preparations for the pilot issue of the spin off magazine in New York.

You pitied the ex-Senior Editor who was now working solo in a foreign place leading a huge group of strangers.

‘I’ll be there next Friday to do the final check before we send the magazine to the printers…… Stop calling me a deserter, I bet you would do the same if your whole department was in a mess...... You’re being totally unreasonable here……. Can you hear just how totally ridiculous you sound!?...... Oh, you, you’re actually drunk right now…… I’ll call you back tomorrow when you’re sober. Enjoy your hangover, hope you suffer from a really bad one. Bye.’ Jaejoong ended the call by smashing his phone into the wall.

You stared wide-eyed at Jaejoong, who had his elbows on the dining table and his face in his hands.

‘Hey… you alright there?’ You slowly approached the human time bomb.

Jaejoong groaned.

‘Just so you know, your phone didn’t survive,’ you looked over at the destroyed device on the floor.

‘I need a new phone anyway,’ Jaejoong muttered.

‘I just realised that you’re constantly destroying and changing phones. How come?’ You had to ask.

‘Let’s just say that Yoochun’s monthly review column on phones had always been very convincing,’ Jaejoong managed a smile.

You laughed.

Instead of leaving on Thursday to New York, Jaejoong set off before daybreak on Wednesday.

Stating in an extremely irritated tone that the ‘ing printers just pushed our printing date forward without consulting us’, Jaejoong destroyed another phone by throwing it out of the window, grabbed his luggage and stomped out of the apartment.

You didn’t know how to react.

But you couldn’t help but feel extremely disappointed.

After all, it was your birthday.

Just before midnight on Thursday, you stumbled out of bed with a grumbling stomach.

Opening the fridge, the first thing you saw was your leftover birthday cake. Shrugging, you pulled it out, grabbed a fork and sat down at the dining table with it.

You couldn’t help but feel like a loser.

You had a fiancé and yet, you spent the your birthday alone in your quiet house, ranting nonstop to a cat about your disappointment when it doesn’t even understand a single word you were saying to it.

Unbeknownst to you, Jaejoong was back from his emergency work trip and he was now toeing off his shoes when he noticed the sad looking you stuffing your face with overnight cake.

He immediately dropped his stuff and walked quickly towards you.

‘I didn’t forget,’ he bent over and hugged you from the back.

You let out a small yelp in surprise as you woke from your deep thoughts.

He kept chanting the same thing over and over again like as if he was reassuring himself instead of you.

‘That’s quite enough, Jaejoong,’ you touched his arm which was wrapped around your shoulders.

‘Are you angry with me?’ He asked in a quiet voice.

Was Jaejoong feeling guilty for once in his life?

You almost wanted to laugh in his face but you decided to just answer his question, ‘No… just disappointed, that’s all.’

Jaejoong broke the hug and sat down beside you, ‘I had so much planned for your special day, Kimchi. I wanted us to go to Paris, you had always wanted to go there right?’

You gaped, ‘H-how did you k-know?’

‘You have travel books about Paris but when I looked though your holiday photo albums, none of them showed that you’ve been there.’

You were pleasantly surprised by Jaejoong’s observations, though it was kind of stalker-ish.

‘And then I would bring you to tons and tons of fancy restaurants and stuff you with food until you look like a whale because even though I’m against excessive eating, I would be rest assured that you would be on cloud nine. Then we can walk the streets, act like morons and make out freely because no one would recognize us and like as if we give a about what people think.’ Jaejoong said as he held your hands in his.

‘Jae… I… I’m sorry,’ you teared, ‘I really thought you forgotten about…’

Shh,’ Jaejoong placed a finger on your lips, ‘I don’t blame you for those thoughts. And I’m sorry too, for not being able to be with you yesterday. I know you’re still bitter, so tell me what can I do to make you feel better?’

You gave him a small smile before you leaned forward and rested your head on Jaejoong’s shoulder, ‘Hold me so I’ll be better in a jiffy.’

You felt Jaejoong nod as he pulled you forward so you were now on his lap facing him. He gently rested your head back on his shoulder and wrapped his arms around your waist.

‘Better,’ you muttered with closed eyes.

Chapter 72: oh geez, so much for happy boss day. It was nice to see them all again! It's funny, I actually thought you were rewriting the whole thing (since you had updated it) I hadn't really been keeping up with the fanfics here so I thought you might have been editing it so I reread the whole thing (needless to say it was awesome to reminisce about the chapters and reread) and came across the authors note where you said you would leave the story uncompleted because you planned to update little stories at the end once in a while. It's nice to see them return!!
