Miss. Trouble

Several days had already passed since her little playdate with Chanyeol, because that’s exactly what it’d turned out to be after that he’d dragged Leerang along to a playground. The kids that’d been present got delighted though. They’d probably never seen a tall, smiley teenager play around with them. Leerang couldn’t deny the fact that he’d even made her laugh a couple of times as well. But that was then. That day was in the past and the only thing she needed to focus on right now was the upcoming exams. They were, just like any other time, important. However, Leerang felt even more stressed at the moment, especially since it was senior year and she needed to get good grades. Those were vital in order to get into a good university.

Korean National University of Arts. Her dream.

A hard nudge in the side caused her to shift attention. The class president was standing right next to Leerang, a frown was plastered upon the other girl’s face, “I need you to stay away from Chanyeol oppa.” she raised an eyebrow, seemingly confused to why her classmate could demand something like that. “What?” Leerang was not one to mess into other people’s business but this was ridiculous. First of all, it wasn’t like she’d forced the older boy to spend the day with her. Second of all, Seoyoung had no authority over who she met. “Chanyeol oppa is mine.” okay, and why did she have to know that?

“So?” Seoyoung glared at her, “are you really that stupid? Just don’t bother him.” who was bothering who actually? The ahjussi was the one who’d blackmailed her, not the other way around. But Leerang agreed nonetheless, “fine.” she was not going to involve herself with Seoyoung. The other girl was known for her forceful ways. Really, Seoyoung was one of the most spoiled people she’d ever come across. Leerang couldn’t help but to let out a sigh of relief once the bell rang. The school day was finally over and she’d already decided to take the bus to one of her favorite spots. It was the ideal place for her, as the location was shielded away from the pulsating city life.

Seoyoung and her little fanclub of friends’ shoved their way past her in the hallway, and that before Seoyoung stopped and spun around, “right, don’t forget what I told you. In fact, it would probably be the best if you stayed away from his friends as well.” Leerang blinked, slightly stunned by how the other girl was acting. They weren’t friends, and she couldn’t even remember that Seoyoung had ever talked to her before.

No one really spoke to Leerang though, as everyone was more than informed about her visits to the north. “Aren’t you being a bit unfair?” no one had the right to tell Leerang who she could befriend. The girl’s question was met with disapproving looks and whispers, “no.” Seoyoung shrugged whilst giving her a hard stare. The logic was non-existent. “Then, what if he’s my friend?” a hoard of laughter broke out, the loudness of it caused her ears to hurt.

“Why would he be your friend?” Leerang’s eyes narrowed when Seoyoung continued, “don’t think you’re all that just because your mother married someone rich.” of course would all of them know about that. Everyone in school knew about the marriage and who her step-father was. The publicity that’d followed had made it really hard for Leerang to get any real friends. The few girls she’d come across had all been dishonest.

They’d only used her to get access to the countless amount of money stacked on the girl’s account, and Leerang settled with the fact that she wouldn’t be able to get any friends after a couple of tries. “I don’t. I’m just saying that you’re being unreasonable.” gasps could be heard and she understood that they were offended, “how dare you talk to Seoyoung like that?” a girl stepped up and shoved her in the chest, an action that caused Leerang to falter backwards. Surprised by what’d happened she bit down on her bottom lip, the girl was uncertain of what to do next. “Just leave them alone and nothing bad will happen, okay?” Seoyoung ended the sentence with her signature smile, as if the request was completely normal. “I -I guess.” she felt stupid for stuttering, but knew better than to object, especially when Seoyoung’s piercing gaze met hers.

Within a couple of minutes were Leerang sitting on the bus that would take the girl to one of her favorite places. She couldn’t help but to be bothered by Seoyoung though. The other girl had no right to tell her who she could meet. But Leerang knew better than to object, as she was more than informed about what Seoyoung and her minions were capable of doing. It was unfortunate, especially since Chanyeol was the only person, for quite some time, who’d actually taken the time to talk and hang out with her. Maybe it was destined for Leerang to be alone. It seemed like that at least.

Much to her fear did the bus come to a stop at Seoul National University, the school were the ahjussi and his friends were enrolled. It was also the one and only school that her mother wanted Leerang to attend. In haste did she pull at her backpack, and that before she used it at as a way to shield her face. The action must’ve looked ridiculously stupid. But it was nonetheless better than that Chanyeol, or any of his friends, saw her. The wishful thinking however, went down the drain quite immediately, as she heard Chanyeol’s voice, “tsk, think you can hide from me.” the girl let out a groan all the whilst she withdrew the bag and settled it down on the floor. He wasn’t supposed to see her. Leerang had seen some of Seoyoung’s friends step on the same bus, and she understood that they would inform Seoyoung if anything happened.

The seat next to her became occupied once Chanyeol placed himself down. The boy found nothing wrong with the situation, not even with his friends wondered what he was doing, “making some new friends.” Lay raised an eyebrow, as it was out of the ordinary for the younger boy to mingled with new people, nonetheless a girl.

“Well, it’s your choice.” Lay gave the girl a hurried glance, he had a vague memory of who she was but decided to just leave it be. Chanyeol could fend for himself. Baekhyun ignored her completely though, and so did Kyungsoo and Sehun. It was only Kai who met eyes with Leerang, and that before he winked, something that left the girl slightly confused. “Don’t mind him.” she cleared upon remembering what Chanyeol had said at the party, about Kai being a total flirt. “Right.” but it was not only Kai that made her uneasy, the boy on her left did, too.

“Please, can you move seats?” Leerang let her gaze scan the surrounding seats, she wanted to make sure that none of Seoyoung’s friends had seen the two of them together. The older male pouted, “why?” it would be too embarrassing to tell him why, he would probably think she was a coward, “I can’t say.” Leerang continued to look around, an ordeal that caused the boy to do the same. He couldn’t understand what she was looking for though.

“Really, you can’t say?” he shifted his attention back to her once he noticed that everything was normal, “it’s obvious that something is bothering you.” that was indeed true. Seoyoung’s minions were troubling the girl. “I -I need to finish a drawing and you’re keeping me distracted.” it would’ve been believable if it wasn’t for the fact that her sketchpad was lying in her backpack. “Ohh, I want to see.” the reaction was definitely not one she’d expected. Chanyeol was making it hard on the said girl, and that without even realizing it. “Only if you move afterwards.” Leerang tried to make it quick.

A moments later was the boy carefully flipping through the pages, thus displaying more and more of her delicate art. Chanyeol gaped as he looked at the drawings. To him they were all magnificent. “Wow, you really got talent for this.” unlike him who had none at all. He couldn’t even manage to receive good grades. “Thank you.” Leerang’s cheeks flushed upon hearing the praise, it was somewhat unusual, especially when it came to her drawings. “Can’t you draw me? Please.” that wasn’t the deal they’d agreed on. He was supposed to change seat now. “N -no.” Leerang shook her head, Seoyoung would make her life a living hell if she were to do something like that, “please.” Chanyeol complained in a tone she could’ve mistaken for a five-year old girl. “Pretty please.” he continued to beg, an action that was giving them curious looks from the other passengers. Leerang freaked out, afraid of the attention the two of them were receiving, “fine, but quit with that.” whilst Chanyeol grinned the girl frowned. She’d expected to get a day to relax and just calm her nerves.

The bus ride took about an hour, and they were the last people to get off, as the station was the final one. Chanyeol’s friends hadn’t even interfered when noticing that he would be with Leerang. Well, only Lay had when telling the boy that they would be down at the club the same night. Much to the girl’s surprise though, did Chanyeol decline. “Are you sure this is the right place?” he spun around whilst inspecting the new place. There were barely any people present at all, “yes.” Leerang began to walk. She’d been a bit hesitant to bring him along, the destination was after all her secret hideout and it felt a bit weird that someone would know about it. “Wait for me.” he was behaving like a total child, which was slightly adorable and cute. Such a person was someone she lacked in her life, one who could make her smile again.

“Promise you won’t tell anyone about this location.” Chanyeol nodded, he was not one to break promises. “I really don’t want to see this place being destroyed.” he understood that, “I won’t tell, promise.” Leerang led the way once they came to an agreement. It would be a lie if she said that she trusted him completely, such a thing wouldn’t make sense as they’d only known each other for a week. Trust was built up throughout time.

“So, how do you wanna do this?” she’d somewhat settled with the fact that he only wanted a simple drawing, like a face portrait. But the said boy had something else in mind though, “I’ve always wanted to try out being a croquis model.” Leerang’s eyes widened, her cheeks flushed, and panic struck her like a speeding train, “WHAT?” she couldn’t care less whether her little outburst caused people to stare, something they definitely would if Chanyeol began to strip. “HAHAHA, I was just kidding.” oh god, he nearly caused her to get a heart attack. “You should’ve seen your expression.” Chanyeol couldn’t stop laughing, as the whole situation was hilarious. “Yeah, yeah.” the girl however, didn’t think it was equally funny.

Chapter 72: Wow. Awesome story. Though I wonder whatever became of Leerang's mother? I bet she probably disowned Leerang for doing everything against her wishes. I'm glad that Leerang stayed with Kris and helped to get his life back on track. Great story.
