It didn’t matter how much the girls begged to go on a New Year party they had been invited to, their manager forced them in the van, back to the apartment and in bed. When Maria said that Lim Appa would have let them go to the party, Manager Kim simply said: “he would never have let you go so you can embarrass yourself in front of the cameras in the morning by having a hangover”. Since they have a schedule on January 1st, the girls have to sleep since they haven’t slept much the last week of 2011. Manager Kim mentions that since Hannah got nosebleed, they need to sleep – so in the end the members blame Hannah, because they just have to blame someone for not getting to celebrate the New Year with everyone else.

But it’s 2012! The first hours of the New Year, so when coming back to the apartment, 5 Pieces gets together in the living-room with their pillows and quilts and they turn on a Harry Potter movie. The first half hour they are giggling and chatting, having it very cosy in their pyjamas and quilts. Ace is with them too, also having it cosy.

An hour in to the movie, all six of them are sleeping, including Ace. They have been exhausted, and when the adrenaline from the music festival had left their bodies they couldn’t keep their eyes open.

Hannah is so happy she could cry.

When she wakes up in the morning, January 1st 2012, she smiles when seeing that the group slept together in the living-room; everyone together. Emelia is up though. She has the TV before lying down again, greeting Hannah with a simple hand move. Hannah stays with all the quilts in the living-room for some minutes before finally daring to ask what time it is.

“Around nine,” Emelia answers and gives Hannah a smile. “Didn’t think we would get to sleep for this long, right?”

“Aren’t we supposed to start practice at ten?” Hannah looks surprised.

“No… Appa called and said we will get an extra hour. So we should get ready soon,” Emelia answers and taps Julia on the . “Wake up.”

Hannah gets up to start wash up and get ready. The whole morning they are saying ’Happy New Year’ to each other and after sleeping for so many hours they are back in business. 5 Pieces have gathered their strength and it makes their manager laugh in the van after picking them up since the girls are loud like they always are.

They are prepared when reaching the practice-room, greeted by the cameras for their special ‘making of concert’ that will later be in the released DVD. Hannah bows politely to the staff they have met a few times before. Out of politeness, Carolina asks the staff about their New Year Eve and some minutes later their dance instructor comes so the stretching can begin.

After stretching, they sit around on the floor and start to talk about the song schedule for the concert. The cameras for the concert DVD are still around, so the girls aren’t as unprofessional as they can be by fooling around, instead they are coming with suggestions.

“If we start to go through [Original] and do [Get Out (Remix)] right after,” the instructor says and points at the two songs on the schedule with the others nodding. They stand up and chat a little while taking their positions, waiting for the music to start.

After some practice, the camera comes up to Hannah who is sitting on the floor with Maria next to her. Maria is sitting with her legs spread out and she is leaning forward as she is doing someone on her cell phone, her hair hanging over so it is a little hard to see for everyone else what she is doing.

“It’s our first concert, so we want to… do a good show for our fans,” Hannah says to the camera. “I think we have a lot of practice in front of us as it is only five days left. There are many songs we haven’t performed before from our first and second album, so we have… a lot of work to do.”

For the next hours the girls are practicing for the concert in the practice room. The cameras get to show both when the girls are laughing and when they are seriously practicing and going through changes.

“Are we supposed to be on the first stage in [Moon Child]?” Maria asks in a serious tone.

“In the song before we are on the middle stage, so we are still there for [Moon Child],” Emelia answers.

“Will that be cool?” Maria wonders, imagining the stage and the performances in her mind. It gets quiet after those words, and a few seconds later everyone else keeps practicing while the camera catches Maria still wondering about it. Hannah tells her it will be cool, just so they can move on.

The music for one of the songs is played and the girls are dancing, all focusing. Their instructor stops the music and corrects a move that the girls start to repeat without music to remember. Carolina later starts to jump up and down when the music stops, singing loudly to the song they just practiced. She puts her hands on Julia’s shoulders, still jumping up and down like crazy.

“De- de- dedicated,” Emelia randomly says coolly before looking at one of the back-up dancers she is talking to. “I’ll copy your hair for the concert. I said I would have those cool braids at our concert, didn’t I? I did, right?”

Emelia makes those around laugh when pointing out the braids the dancer has like Big Bang’s Taeyang used to have. It’s true; Emelia said two years ago that when they have their concert in the future she wants to have those kinds of braids with her long hair. She smiles now when saying it, looking at the camera.

“They won’t let me have it,” she tells.

“It’s D-5,” Maria points out for the camera when walking by.

They are busy practicing, but between the practicing the girls exchanges some words for the cameras. They plan during the breaks, not letting any minute pass without thinking of the concert.

“So Carro will be alone on the stage at first? Or she won’t be visibly?” Julia wonders when they are going through another song some hours later. The girls have been practicing for hours, so by now you can see that they are a little tired from the never ending practice, but they are just as focused as when they started if now more.

“Maria’s solo ends … and then Carolina will start the song with her ‘oh’ and appear on the big stage,” the instructor says with all five members listening intensely. “Hannah, Myung and Sukjun will start the dance during Hannah’s part.”

Hannah nods, standing next to the male dancer Myung. They go through the song as if they were on the stage, only Hannah and the dancers dancing in the beginning and they all think that they are on the positions on the stage they have been showed on the paper. The practice goes on strongly as they still have to learn a lot.

When the cameras stop to film for a longer break, Hannah leaves the practice room with Maria.

The two of them goes to a recording room, where SHINee is working on their next album and also where Hyekyung is. The chatting starts right away between everyone, and Maria keeps talking to the others when someone is recording. Hannah is sitting on a chair with Maria sitting on her lap. Jonghyun, sitting next to them, takes Hannah’s hand in his while listening to the others.

The girls go back to practice not much after and keep on where they ended before.

*I’m getting crazy,

At all things I thought we had* Hannah sings, all focused on the mirror in front of her as she is dancing at the same time as singing. She repeats the choreography without singing and listens to the instructor who helps her out.

“I can’t remember the change of the choreography,” Hannah mentions, still serious as she keeps practicing. She turns around to look at Carolina also going through the choreography.

“You still have time to learn it,” the instructor says. Hannah is nervous about the concert, knowing that in just five days she will be on the stage and perform around 40 different songs with over 6,000 people watching.

A little before midnight they take another break. SHINee is still at the agency, so Hannah meets up with Jonghyun. To get some fresh air they walk outside, as they planned earlier in the day. At this hour it’s dark outside, so not many people are out. Comfortably the two of them are talking and walking down the street. Since they don’t live in the same building anymore, it’s not easy to take a sudden walk like they used to before. Hannah is tired from all dancing and Jonghyun is tired from all recording, so they are slowly walking at the beginning and Hannah talks the most for a start.

It feels really good to be able to walk outside, just the two of them. Hannah really likes to come outside and talk to clear her mind, and even if her Korean isn’t the best, Jonghyun loves to hear her talk. Her voice changes from topic to topic, and when she gets excited her voice gets a little higher and lighter and her whole face shines up. Jonghyun can’t stop smiling when seeing that and just hearing her voice makes him forget all the worries for the recording and the future. He wants to close his eyes and embrace her, but he doesn’t since they never know if someone might be watching. That is why the closest they are is when Hannah holds to his arm – which is a habit of hers.

5 Pieces is at the music room the next day. The concert cameras are with them as the girls are playing on the instruments and laughing at how much noise it makes. Most of the day was spent filming the final videos for the concert, so after finish there they came to keep practicing.

“As a band, we did the song [U Know] together for the second album,” Julia explains for the camera, sitting down on a chair in the room. “5 Pieces started out as a band, right? So for our very first concert, we want to show how we started. We will perform as the rock-band 5 Pieces.”

She gives a nod to the camera, satisfied with that they will show themselves as a band. “Trax’s Jungmo have come to help us,” she whispers the last sentence and points over at Jungmo who is sitting with a guitar and going through something with Emelia.

Hannah is sitting by the drums, playing and moving her head without having a particular song in mind.

“Drum, drum, drum,” Hannah says to the camera and she smiles happily, fooling around with the drums before she is asked by the camera-man how it feels to sit behind the drums again. “Like old times. I have done one live performance playing the drums since our debut, so I am excited to *drum, drum* a little.”

Jungmo, who is holding a guitar, tells Hannah to play the song. She is caught off guard as she was talking to the camera so she is quickly turning to her drums and starts to play on Jungmo’s command. The practice starts and with Jungmo’s help the girls fixes their mistakes and what they lack. The practice goes on, the girls playing their instruments and Maria singing and they correct their mistakes and repeats things to remember it.

“Hannah threw away the drumstick!” Maria laughs when coming over to the camera after that everyone had burst out laughing. The whole room is in chaos and Hannah is apologizing. The drumstick had flown away when she was playing and everyone is laughing at her.

Hannah is waving with her drumsticks, trying to see if it will fly away while Jungmo gives her advices.

“I can’t hold it together,” she tells him with an innocent face expression. “Tighter,” she corrects herself when realizing she said the wrong word. Jungmo takes one of the drumsticks and shows how to hold it, but Hannah can’t hold it tighter.

When the practice ends, Hannah is leaving the drums when the camera-man asked what happened with the drumsticks.

“My hands can’t hold the drumsticks tight enough,” Hannah is explaining and then gives a smile, “so they fly away when I play. They suggested that I should do something else than playing the drums,” she gives a laugh, “but I’m the drummer, it’s my position, don’t you think? I want to play, so I guess I have to get back the strength in my fingers… in four days.”

She looks a little troubled when going over a box on the floor and she glances up at the camera.

“I will play the drums,” she says before starting to walk out.

“Why?” the camera-man asks and Hannah turns back and think a little.

“I want to,” she answers with a big smile.

The cameras leaves and 5 Pieces returns to the apartment.

It’s not too late but the girls will start practicing early the next day, where also the concert cameras will come back. Already on the way home in the van, Hannah is texting with Jonghyun. They are both quite entertained by the rumours that have started to spread after that they the night before did get caught on camera outside around midnight. Rumours have now started to spread about them possibly dating, but SM Entertainment will speak out of their close friendship instead.

“Do not meet him,” Manager Lim gives Hannah a warning in the van when seeing how she is smiling when texting. Hannah looks up with a questioning look. “Do not meet Jonghyun on your own for a while.”

“Why not?” Hannah pouts and Julia gives a giggle at the way Hannah doesn’t like the words their manager said.

“The rumours aren’t good,” Manager Lim answers.

“You like it when she gets rumours with Honggi,” Emelia smirks at their manager. Hannah gives her a glare, but then returns to pouting. It was like their manager read the text Hannah just got, since Jonghyun asked if he could come over when his schedule is done.

Manager Lim leaves after dropping off the girls (Carolina is at her radio) and Hannah quickly asks if her members can be quiet about Jonghyun coming over. Emelia is the only one who looks unsure of what to answer.

“Appa said no,” Emelia says when dropping her bag on the floor in the hall.

“You really have something against Jonghyun,” Maria gives a chuckle. “Let him come, Hannah. It’s not like stalkers will stand ready to catch him walk through our door.”

“I’m just thinking of our group,” Emelia defends even if no one had expected an answer.

“You’re thinking of Hannah,” Maria laughs happily and leans towards Emelia. “You don’t want our baby to grow up.”

“Shut up,” Emelia pushes her away and walks away, calling over her back for the girls that she will shower first.

Hannah goes to clean up in her room a little and when Emelia is done washing up it is Hannah’s turn. After washing up and putting on a big sweater, Hannah walks inside Emelia’s room to sit down on her bed. Hannah is doing her infamous grimaces while watching Emelia sitting on the floor and playing around with Ace.

“You don’t like Jonghyun being my boyfriend, do you?” Hannah pouts.

Everyone have noticed that and even Jonghyun mentioned it once. Emelia has been giving him cold glares ever since last New Year, and even when SHINee were guests on 5 Pieces variety program she couldn’t stop giving those cold glares when looking at him.

“He’s not my boyfriend, and as long as he treats you well I don’t care,” Emelia answers and laughs when Ace gives a cute jump.

“But you still have something against him,” Hannah keeps pouting.

“It’s because I like you and Honggi together,” Emelia answers. She is a very straightforward person. “So maybe I just hope you can make up with Honggi.”

“That won’t happen.”

“That’s because you are so stubborn,” Emelia says and when she looks up at Hannah she smiles. “If you stay with Jonghyun, it’s not like I will hate him or anything. It is just my opinion. The way he makes you smile makes me unable to say against the two of you.”

Hannah smiles when hearing her say that. “I like him a lot,” she says and Emelia almost gives a chuckling laugh and nods. She stands up and sits down tailor in the bed, calling Ace to jump up too.

“I know you like him,” Emelia says, still playing around with Ace. “That’s probably why I act like I do. You are easily hurt, I know that very well after ten years. So if – just if – he somehow makes you sad, I won’t forgive him.”

“Is that why you talked to Honggi?” Hannah asks and Emelia looks a little surprised up at her, though her expression doesn’t change much. Hannah smiles. “Jonghyun said you had talked to Honggi and convinced him to leave me alone for a while. You had said… something about ‘her wound will heal with time’.”

Emelia smirks at the way Hannah says it, looking back at Ace. “That’s because I know you will be friends with Honggi again. All you need is some time to realise it. He can’t force you.”

The doorbell rings and Hannah smiles happily. She gives Emelia a hug, thanking her before running out of the room. Hannah hurries to the hall where Maria opens the door and the moment the door is opened, Hannah turns back. She forgot she is only in a sweater, so she hurries inside her bedroom to find some pants to wear. She runs around the room in panic before opening the wardrobe to find a pair in there.

“What are you doing?” someone laughs by the door
