The Phone Call
The Journey That Lead Her To Him“Mina. I think its time to officially contact everyone. Okay well not everyone, just the ones that's been really waiting for hear your voice. Besides, its Christmas. I'm pretty sure you'll make their holiday special with your call.” Sehun handed her phone to her.
The night they arrived, Mina handed Sehun her phone. Asking him to keep it away from her until she felt it was time to talk to people. Of course Sehun kept in touch with her parents, reporting how their daughter has been.
Sehun places the phone on the coffee table and goes to the kitchen so he could give her some space. Mina stares at her phone for awhile. She pushes the power button and waits for it to turn on. She sees the missed calls, texts, and voicemails. Mom, dad, Woohyun, Jiyeon, Suzy, Soojin, but one that caught her eye was the one and only Jongin.
She didn't dare open his texts or voicemails. She dialed to the first person that was probably worried the most. She calls her parents and brother, but neither answer. Its Christmas, most likely they're working and its busy at the hospital. She calls the next important person.
“Ji....” Mina calls out.
“Mina?” Jiyeon chokes a little.
“Jiyeon...” Mina smiled upon hearing her best friend's voice.
“NAM MINA! HOW COULD YOU?!?” Jiyeon's loud voice boomed over the phone.
“haha … I’m sorry Jiyeon. I'm sorry I just disappeared all of a sudden. I'm sorry for not telling you. I just needed to get away.” Mina held back her tears
“-sniff- No Mina, don't blame yourself. We all understand. Chanyeol told me what happened. Mina I wish I was there to be there for you. But thankfully you had Sehun. He's secretly updating us about you.” Jiyeon told her.
Mina looked over at Sehun, who in the kitchen, making some coffee.
“Are you okay now?” Jiyeon asks.
“I'm ...okay.” Mina hesitates to answer.
“Mi-”
“So how was the wedding? Did my planning skill pay off?” Mina tried to change the subject.
“um... the wedding....” Jiyeon struggled to answer.
“Ji? What happened at the wedding? Jinhee is okay right?” Mina panicked.
“She's fine. Well she's still fighting. But the wedding....” Jiyeon sighed at the end.
“Ji?”
Jiyeon couldn't lie to her, but at the same time she didn't know how to tell her.
“There was no wedding.” Jiyeon admitted.
“what?”
“You see, once the vows happened...”
“Did Jongin not agree? That idiot stopped the wedding?” Mina became angry.
“No... it wasn't Jongin that stopped the wedding. He said I Do.... it was Jinhee.... she knew..... she knew Jongin didn't love her. She didn't want to leave knowing Jongin wasn't doing this out of love. She wanted Jongin to marry the one he loves.”
Tears threatened to fall from Mina's eyes. Hearing that it was Jinhee that stopped the wedding. Hearing that Jinhee knew he didn't love her.... it just broke Mina's heart.
