Chapter 24 – The new awkward-looking buddy

“We’re here!” Donghae said as he stopped his car and looked behind him to see a sleeping Amber. “Hey Amber, wake up.”

The sleeping girl slowly opened her eyes and sat up straight to stretch a bit.

“Oh, we’re here? I didn’t notice that I fell asleep.”

“It’s okay. It’s a long ride anyway.” Donghae said as he opened the door of his car to meet with the others in the van next to them.

Amber got out of the car as well and looked around her. Daniel, Henry and Victoria went out of the 4X4 as well to look the scenery around them.

“I like this place. It’s refreshing here oppa.” Amber told her brother.

“I know you’ll like it. This trip isn’t only for the sake of the preparation for your drifting challenge but also for your confused mind to relax for a bit. You need to clear that dino head of yours so that you can focus on your goal.” Donghae said as he patted his younger sister’s head, flashing his assuring smile to her as if telling her ‘I got this, don’t worry.’

“T-Thank you oppa.” Amber shyly responded, with a slight blush on her cheeks.

“Hae! Vic!” The gang heard a yell causing them to look at the source of the voice. There they saw a slightly chubby, but still looking fit guy, running towards them. Next thing that the young members saw are Hae, Vic and that guy hugging each other as if they’ve never seen each other for a long time.

“So guys, this is Shindong. He’s our mechanic and fabricator in our team before…” Donghae introduced.

“Back in those days…” Shindong added with a bright smile as his mind still reminisces the old memories they had in underground racing.

They’re now eating lunch in Shindong’s house and decided to have their introductions and meeting at the same time. Earlier, Shindong installed the engine that they brought right away and let them rest for a while, considering the long journey to his place.

“So Hae asked me last night if I still have the car that he used in drifting before. Good thing I treasured that car, not just because it’s one of the best cars before, but because also of the fact that I was the one who modified it. I maintained it for the sake of ‘collection’ but I think it’ll serve another purpose… It’s original purpose. Anyway, the parts are still in good condition since I oftentimes ask Donghae to buy some of its parts abroad.”

“Woah, so that’s what those are for?” Donghae surprisingly asked him.

“Of course it is. It’s hard to find parts of old cars nowadays. Good thing I know some specialty stores abroad that sell high quality parts. It’s really hard to maintain a ‘vintage’”

“Yah! It’s not that old…”

“Hah… An MX-5 back in the 90’s isn’t still considered vintage?”

“It’s only a decade…”

“Hahaha… Just kidding Hae. Anyway, since we’re done with food, just wait in the living room and I’ll lead you to the garage.”

After a few minutes, Shindong finally showed up in the living room and lead the gang to the garage just beside his house.

“It’s a kinda big for a garage.” Daniel mumbled.

“Yeah… Just how many cars are in it?” Henry asked.

“Around six or seven… the last time I’ve been here.” Donghae answered them.

The door to the garage was finally opened and the gang was amazed with Shindong’s ‘collections,’ which are comfortably resting in their own spaces. The bubbly guy then lead them to an awkward-looking car in black.

“Here you go guys. Mazda MX-5 1990, with the newly installed V8 engine that you guys brought.”

“T-That’s… it
