*Sungjong POV*

Well, this is awkward…

I was sitting in the café with Brice, both of us only focused on our lattes, not knowing what to say to each other.

I sneaked a quick peek at Brice, and coincidentally caught him peeking at me too, causing us to quickly bury our noses back into our drinks. I bit my lip hard. Damn that was so embarrassing!

Let me explain. Do you remember how I’ve been bugging Myungsoo to introduce me to Brice?

Yeah. He finally did, only, he ditched us in the café, telling Brice that I wanted to see him really badly.

That evil nasty mean hyung of mine is soooo gonna get it. I’m going to pour sugar all over his clothes!

He cleared his throat awkwardly.

Come on, Sungjong you can do it! Just talk to him! Say something about his hair!!

I would do anything to break this tension, I swear.

“Hey…”

“So…”

I cut myself off sheepishly. I motioned for him to continue.

He flashed his perfect pearly whites at me before continuing. “So, L said you wanted to see me?” He raised an eyebrow teasingly at me.

My face flushed a deep red. “N-no. He was just e-exaggerating.”

He grinned, ruffling up my hair. “You’re cute.”

I turned even redder, forgetting to whine about my hair for the first time in my life.

Seeing this, he just laughed.

“I-I know about L.” I blurted out.

He stopped laughing. “Know what about L?”

“That he’s Myungsoo.”

“Oh… so he told you guys?”

“Yup. Except Sungyeol, of course. And I heard you’re a…”

“Reaper.”

“Yeah that. That’s so cool! Can you tell me more about being a reaper?!” I asked excitedly.

He laughed and nodded his head. “Well, firstly to clear up a ridiculous misconception. We do not wear block robes alright?! That’s just weird. And we’re not some skeleton thing. Flesh and blood. You see? FLESH AND BLOOD.” He emphasized, pinching his arm fats.

I giggled. “Alright. But how did you become a reaper? Are you like… dead?”

“Well, I was alive once, but that was long ago. Around the eighteenth century, I was killed in a gang fight. Yeah, I used to be a gangster, hence the hair and all. But I was given a chance by God to be a reaper, and so I took up the position. It really isn’t that bad, although it can drain your energy quite a fair bit, seeing all those depressed and wronged people. After about a hundred years into the job, God offered to let me be reborn, cause it’s kinda a tradition to let a reaper be reborn after a hundred years of service, but I rejected. After all, I have no reason to be on Earth.”

My eyes widened to the size of saucers. “You rejected an offer like that?!”

“Well, yeah. But the offer still stands whenever I want it.”

“Doesn’t it get boring, helping the dead all the time?” I questioned.

“Well yeah. It’s kinda a routine for me already.”

We talked a little more, and before we knew it, three hours had passed. The waitress came over to shoo us out and we were left strolling the streets.

“-and that’s how Myungsoo got pranked!” I exclaimed.

Brice and I burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter, ignoring the weird stares we got from passers-by.

I checked my watch.

5.30pm.

Aww dang I promised Myungsoo to be home by 6pm to cook dinner.

“Hey Brice, I gotta leave now. It was nice hanging out with you.” I flashed him an apologetic smile.

He nodded in understanding and turned to leave, but I grabbed his hand.

“Y’know… you should consider taking up God’s offer. You have me, and the whole Infinite now. You’re not alone anymore.”

He froze but quickly regained his composure and pinched my cheek. “I’ll think about it, alright? See you soon~”

I waved and headed back home, skipping and giggling the whole time.

So this is how love feels like…
