Ice Princess

A Daydreamer's Tales (Taengsic one-shot collection)

The small girl rushed through the hallways passing by and nearly bumping into every girl on the floor. Whipping a quick right, the girl stopped at the first door she saw, “Here.” Catching her breath, she lifted up her hand and knocked on the door. Growing impatient with no sound, she knocked louder until a very grump girl opened the door, “What do you want? I am meditating here.”

The girl at the door turned her head to look behind the woman blocking the doorway, “I must have the wrong room.”

The other woman crossed her arms and leaned on the doorway, “If you are looking for Jessica, my roommate, she hasn’t arrived yet.”

Defeated, the girl in the doorway looked down, “The ceremony is starting tonight…”

The owner of the room cocked her head to the side, “I don’t know when she will be here if that is what you are asking. We just share a room.”

Nodding along, the woman backed away, “Sorry to disturb your meditation.” Not wanting to further embarrass herself the girl walked away from the room. She looked up at the red and blue painted elegantly through the hallways walking around aimlessly until someone suddenly tackled her, “Got you!”

“What the hell? I could have gotten hurt and I run tomorrow!”

Not caring, the girl helped her friend up, “Oh so grumpy Taeyeon. Sorry to disturb your majesty on such an important day.”

Taeyeon got up from the ground grumbling knowing very well that her friend’s playfulness wasn’t the reason she was so upset, “whatever. Why are you not with your group?”

The beautiful woman with the slick black hair stood much taller than her short friend, “I could ask you the same.”

Taeyeon shrugged, “I lost them.”

The other woman patted her friend on the back, “Come find me for the ceremony. I want our friendship advertised.”

Taeyeon laughed, “what? No! you just want me next to you so you look even taller and get more endorsement deals!”

Seolhyun was already an extremely popular CF advertiser for her sport and Taeyeon was also well known but Seolhyun knew she looked much more elegant next to shorter friends, “you are being too sensitive. It can benefit you too.”

“No way in hell! I have other plans with people my height!”

“It is only once every 4 years! Come on!”

Taeyeon waved the pouting girl off as she walked down the hall back to her room and shut the door. Throwing herself on the bed she looked up at the ceiling feeling upset. Not because of her short stature or that her friends want to use her to become even more famous but that a certain girl wasn’t here yet. She waited over a year to see her and it seemed like she was doing her best to ignore her.

“Taeyeon!”

Shooting up from her bed, Taeyeon saw her teammate, “Yes?”

“Did you get your clothes yet?”

Pointing over the corner, “Yeah.”

“Awesome! Throw them on we are going to do press before the ceremony and take photos.”

Taeyeon rolled into her bed and groaned. She hated all the media surrounding this event. For once she would like to skip all the theatrics and just get out and do her thing. Being Korea’s number one snowboarder had its burdens and with the Olympics being in her home country, Taeyeon knew this was going to blow out of proportion but here she thought she would qualify and ride the slopes without being hassled but that wasn’t the case. The press was here and the opening ceremony was tonight so she needed to dress up and flash several smiles whilst spewing out random thoughts she might have about her ride tomorrow morning. Did she really know what she was going to do? No…but something had to be said to the press.

“Do we have to get ready now? What about lunch?”

Sitting on her bed, Hara was her other competitor that somehow managed to make the snowboarding team despite placing far behind her in the X-games several months ago for qualifications, “I am guessing lunch will be after the interviews. Come on get your lazy ready so we can meet the others.”

Taeyeon rolled out of bed and looked at the uniform she was going to wear tonight. She smiled proudly to be one of the hundreds representing her country for the next few weeks. Of course her sport wasn’t the most glamorous or highly anticipated by her fellow countrymen, but she knew eyes would be all on her during her event. After all, she was extremely good at what she did despite her young age.

Walking out of her room Hara laughed at the girl, “Are you sure that is the right size jacket? You look like a marshmallow.”

“Like you are much bigger than me and this was the smallest they had.” Taeyeon pouted as she walked through the halls with all the other marshmallows going to the interview rooms. It seemed that press was going to try and cover all the sports before the opening ceremony. Which could only mean that she must be around here somewhere.

“Come on girls get with the guys for a photo.”

Taeyeon looked around and found the other snowboarders that were competing in various events. There was Taeyeon who did half-pipe and slopestyle, Hara who was just doing half-pipe and others were there for slopestyle and the races. If they all used the same equipment she assumed they all must be a team. Yet they all had different coaches and probably couldn’t do what the others did in their events.

“Nice! Nice!” Taeyeon tried holding her smile as long as possible while the press flashed all the photos, “Great next group.”

Taeyeon watched Seolhyun enter with the other skiers and gave her a brief nod. She was jealous that most of the skiers were so much taller than the snowboarders. At least there was a sport someone with her height disadvantage could do.

All of her teammates found a seat facing the press with their 3 main coaches sitting in the center, “I have a question for Kim Taeyeon!”

Taeyeon heard her name and leaned towards the mic, “Yes?”

“You are one of the few that are competing in several events. How have you prepared to do two different styles of snowboarding?”

Taeyeon chuckled, “I don’t find the two too different from one another. In halfpipe I just go back and forth doing tricks while in slopestyle I just need to push some rails and catch my jumps with the same tricks going in a straight line. Landing is a bit different but I think my training prepared me well for both.”

The crowd went wild with more questioning but Taeyeon got tired of answering so she addressed them to her coach instead. With the crowd not satisfied with her lack of responses, the questioning died down and the next group entered to be interrogated. Taeyeon watched from the side to be amused as her friends answered the same useless questions but there was one other agenda she had.

Several groups came and went as Taeyeon waited until one particular group had their turn. She stood to attention when the figure skaters entered the room and there she was. Ice princess Jessica Jung was their country’s best bet at the second Yuna Kim. She was Taeyeon’s age and most people didn’t know Jessica had gone to the same school with Taeyeon years back, that was until they took up their respective sports and Taeyeon went to a place with mountains while Jessica traveled back and forth from Seoul and Tokyo to do figure skating. Taeyeon lived till now waiting for this moment they finally could compete as one team.

Taeyeon didn’t really care what the questions were all about but most were directed at Jessica and that man she often competed with. Taeyeon didn’t like him. What Taeyeon hoped for was that they all exited towards her and Taeyeon popped up in front of Jessica like a fluffy ghost, “Jeez Kim Taeyeon!” Jessica hit the marshmallow with the dimpled smile.

“Miss me?”

Jessica gave the girl a massive eye roll and tried to pass, “No.”

Taeyeon didn’t let the girl pass, “Come on…it has been over a year since we last met. Not even once did you think about me?”

Jessica stood there with her arms crossed, “Kim Taeyeon move. The press is everywhere here and the last thing I need over the news is that I punched you in the face.”

With a cheeky smile, Taeyeon quickly grabbed the ice skater’s wrist and led them off to an empty hallway, “no press here.”

Jessica’s breath hitched when Taeyeon’s body pressed against hers, “W-what are you doing.”

Taeyeon felt a few small pushes as Jessica made little effort to get her off, “Oh come on. You were practically begging a year ago.”

Jessica threw her head back in a breathless chuckle, “I was so drunk! I didn’t even know what was going on that night.”

Taeyeon continued to smile, “Oh let me remind you.” Leaning in, Taeyeon captured Jessica’s lips. The skater was resistant to move her lips along with Taeyeon, but eventually gave in and gasped for air before Taeyeon deepened the kiss and cradled Jessica’s tongue with her own. The kiss was almost too intense as she felt her heart swell with anticipation. However passionate the kiss was, Jessica broke away quickly.

“T-Taeyeon…”

Taeyeon leaned in to kiss Jessica again but was stopped by a hand, “what…”

Jessica shook her head, “No. Not again. First time was a lack of judgement.”

“You seemed to like it all the times.”

Jessica wiped her lips and backed away, “lack of judgement.”

“Aww come on Jessica. I like you and you clearly like me so what is the problem? Last time we practically had …”

Jessica quickly placed her hands over Taeyeon’s mouth, “we did not! Now j-just stay away. I have practice and need to be ready for competition.”

“Do I distract you?”

“Taeyeon! I swear…just because we were friends when we were younger doesn’t mean we need to be that now.”

“I don’t think we are friends…just people who like each other’s company for a good time.” Taeyeon smiled as she tried to push herself closer.

“No. Now go away and find your people while I find mine.”

Taeyeon pouted as she watched the skater scamper away. Although she was disappointed Jessica rejected her once again, she knew Jessica had some sort of feelings for her. When they reunited a year ago for a party announcing the Korean team for the Winter Olympics they found themselves in Taeyeon’s room with a pack of beer. Neither of them drank but being in the company alone with one another after so long, they couldn’t help but use the beer as a way to relieve their stress. Yet, things got steamy and Taeyeon and Jessica started to make-out which lead to a few clothes thrown across the room. Although Jessica refused to say they went far, Taeyeon remembered some groping and rubbing which could have gone farther if Jessica didn’t pass out from the alcohol. The next morning Taeyeon was disappointed to see Jessica disappeared and after that she found out Jessica took a flight to Tokyo for training. She tried contacting her but it was no use as the skater shut out the whole world to compete and practice so Taeyeon did the same. She practiced and did very well in all her competitions to make the qualifiers for the Olympics so they could meet again.

Taeyeon knew Jessica would try and avoid her but at the same time, that would be very difficult because tonight they would be with their fellow countrymen together to show unity and strength as one team for the Olympics. Jessica isn’t going to shake Taeyeon off this time because Taeyeon knew where to find her.

Later that night, Hara pulled Taeyeon along with her to the waiting area under the arena where the crowd above them were waiting for each country to arrive. She heard the booming music and the chants of joy but she stayed focus on trying to get closer to Jessica. She saw Jessica chat with several people from Japan and Taeyeon was approached by a few Americans but she knew those countries would enter before them. All that would be left is that Jessica could not avoid her any longer.

“Korea standby.”

Ditching her friends, Taeyeon squeezed through to Jessica, “Hey.”

Jessica was surprised to see Taeyeon right next to her when she last saw the small girl across the room, “shouldn’t you be with the other snowboarders?”

“No law saying I have to when entering.” Taeyeon playfully bumped Jessica’s side, “we are wearing couple outfits.”

Jessica rolled her eyes, “Everyone is wearing the same thing.”

Taeyeon smiled as the leaders started guiding the athletes in, “I suppose.” When they walked out into the open arena with the crowd cheering and Jessica putting on her best smile, Taeyeon quickly grabbed Jessica’s hand and waved their intertwined fingers in the air. Jessica wanted to pull away but with so many photos being taken, she didn’t dare and let Taeyeon have her triumphant moment. That was until a very unusually tall person found Taeyeon and pulled her away, “Yah! Seolhyun I said no.”

“Just smile you idiot.”

Taeyeon gave a very awkward smile as she waved her little flag around with Seolhyun until she wiggled out of her grasp, “happy now?”

“Very.” Seolhyun smiled brightly as they took their seats. Taeyeon spent the rest of the ceremony silently pouting that her friend took her away from sitting next to Jessica. She was so close yet so far away.

When the ceremony did end, the whole Olympic community was energized. People from every country were intermingling and having small parties in various rooms that Taeyeon didn’t even know where to look for Jessica. She first tried finding other skaters but that didn’t work so she wandered around the halls looking through doors but she was defeated and settled for hanging out with Hara and her friends. Since most of them were competing the next day they didn’t drink or eat anything strange. They just chatted and reminisced. It was a good time that ended early so they could be ready for competition the next day.

---------------------

Taeyeon pushed in the headphones into her ears under her helmet. The thumping bass of EDM music surged through her body as she closed her eyes and breathed in the winter air. For now it was just her and snow. She practiced the course several times and was putting out some great tricks with out too much trouble. Having 3 runs was also a great relief that even if she did mess-up she could try again. It only took one great one to qualify for the finals.

Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Taeyeon’s coach urged her to say she was next. Pushing her way up to the starting line, Taeyeon looked down at the course. The people below looked so small from where she was. The sight of perfectly groomed snow with big rails and big slopes, Taeyeon smiled to herself before taking off. She went up and hopped up on the rail grinding across it as if it were made of glass. She then took a quick spin up the first slope unto the next rail. With her three jumps she landed them all and received the cheers from everyone below. She was even amazed that she passed the round without falling. An easy pass earning her a place in the finals.

Pushing her goggles off, she waved to the crowd but her smile faded when she saw someone similar to Jessica. It was hard to tell since she was in the back and bundled up but Taeyeon would like to think that Jessica came to watch her first event even though her competition was later in the day.

It would take two more runs, one of which Taeyeon opted out because she fell on a rail, to get the qualification runs to close. She knew the competition was tough between countries that were known to dominate snowboarding but Taeyeon stood tall thinking the girl she liked was here watching her.

All of Taeyeon’s training came to this. She was three runs away from a possible medal that would be the first in slopestyle for her country to earn. Nervous and confidant Taeyeon went out to do her best tricks. She wasn’t known for this style of snowboarding but the onlookers could have been fooled by the flawless runs she put down. The scores were high but not good enough for gold. The American snowboarder put down a perfect run that rivaled Taeyeon’s but Taeyeon still smiled brightly with a silver medal around her neck. She did it. Years spent on the mountains, Taeyeon felt like she finally got the validation for her work.

Hugs, cheers and photographs followed her win. She was elated, her coach was bragging and Taeyeon’s family pulled her aside to celebrate that night. She still had halfpipe in two days time so she couldn’t fully relax but one burden was off her shoulders. Enjoying her time with her family was great and all but Taeyeon had other plans that night. With the excuse that she needed to rest up, Taeyeon got away from her family and went straight to the skating arena where Jessica was competing in the team skate. With her participation as an athlete, Taeyeon got into every even for free with seats allotted for her countrymates. She saw a few other athletes in the stands with her but she went down as close as she could get to the ice. Spotting Jessica, Taeyeon waved her hands erratically but it seemed the other girl was ignoring her still.

Taeyeon didn’t care that Jessica chose to ignore her because Taeyeon was here to see Jessica do her best. Besides that, Taeyeon couldn’t help but eye out that skin-tight and glittery outfit. Completely opposite of her uniform, Taeyeon loved the y dress Jessica was wearing. However the erted smile immediately turned into a frown when Jessica’s partner put his hands all over her. She hated that Jessica was doing pair skating. Taeyeon preferred Jessica doing freestyle all by herself and not having that hunky man handle her and throw her around like that. Everyone also made up rumors that Jessica and this guy were dating although they strongly denied it. Taeyeon knew they were placed together but it never doused the raging jealousy that overcame her when the routine started.

Eyes never leaving Jessica’s movement, Taeyeon remained enamored in the routine and cheered for every completed spin and rotation. She couldn’t get enough of the elegant display Jessica gave off with her run. Standing up and cheering loudly, Taeyeon wasn’t the only one excited over the routine Jessica and her partner gave. Although they were not the top contenders for this team event, Taeyeon knew Jessica did her all and it showed. To Taeyeon, everything Jessica did was perfect in her eyes. Knowing Jessica’s part in the team event was over, Taeyeon didn’t wait around for the whole competition to end. Although she really wanted to see Jessica after the event and try to seduce her again, it wasn’t possible. Taeyeon knew her responsibility for tonight was to rest well and let Jessica focus only on her events. For now at least.

----------------------------

Taeyeon was in her zone. Finally the event she was looking forward to was here. She stood next to Hara with her earphones out as they joked around and commented on the other riders. Hara didn’t have high expectations but Taeyeon cheered her on and gave her pointers with hopes that Hara would make it to the finals with her. When it was Taeyeon’s turn for her run, she put her earphones in and hyped herself up for the first run. She was so excited for this even that she over-rotated and fell. Taeyeon pushed herself off the ground and glided off the pipe.

She shook herself to shake off the horrible run and looked at the disappointing first score but it was fine since she had 2 more runs to make it up and get herself in the finals round. Taeyeon held her board as she walked off towards the lift to get her back to the top of the lift but she caught Jessica looking worried in the front row. Her heart swelled that Jessica came to see her event. This time she wasn’t bundled as tightly and she wasn’t hidden in the back. Jessica was right there for her to see.

Deciding to dedicate this next run to Jessica, Taeyeon put her all into a near perfect run. She wanted to kick herself for not getting the grab on her board but it didn’t matter, Taeyeon clenched her right into the finals and she was not alone. Somehow Hara held onto a run without a fall and entered the finals with her. The Korean crowd was elated that not only one but two Koreans were going to battle it out for a medal with 10 other people. Taeyeon thought she even saw Jessica cheering loudly when she and Hara finished their runs.

The finals were even more nerve wracking knowing she had to do her best tricks with the hopes that it was enough to get her on the medal podium. Taeyeon wasn’t satisfied with only one medal. She aimed to have two around her neck with the Olympics coming to an end for her. Not only did Taeyeon have the support of her family and teammates, today Jessica was here giving her support despite the late night she must have had from skating.

Taeyeon strapped her boots into her board and gave herself a few encouraging words before going down the pipe again. She was on fire. Every hit was there and she made the grab she missed in the qualification. It was perfect. She wasn’t sure if the score would be good enough to beat the powerful American boarders but Taeyeon knew she put her all out there on the pipe. It was more than she could ask for. The last run she fell trying out a bit trick but she didn’t care. Taeyeon ended up getting second once again. Two silver medals, Taeyeon knew that was best she could do when her country was not dominate in the sport. Unfortunately Hara didn’t place with her she was still so proud that the girl did her best and made it into the finals.

When Taeyeon looked out into the crowd past her parents, Taeyeon hoped to see Jessica there but she disappeared. Her heart sank a bit at that moment but Taeyeon knew the skaters must be practicing again. She looked at the schedule and Jessica wasn’t in competition for the rest of the week so there was hope that when she got back to the Olympic village, she would see Jessica. Jessica did get up early to see her do competition so there was a chance she would be there sleeping.

Taeyeon told her parents that she wanted to rest at the Olympic village and they would meet later at night before her parents went back to their hometown. However her real intention is to catch Jessica before she went off for training or to watch her fellow skaters compete.

The Olympic village was quiet as most of the people were either out competing or training. Making her way to her room, Taeyeon changed into some comfortable clothing before going to Jessica’s room. Surprised to see the door slightly open, Taeyeon peeked in and saw her princess on her bed. A huge smile plastered on Taeyeon’s face as she snuck in and locked the door.  Not wanting to wake up the slumbering girl, Taeyeon slipped off her shoes and made her way to the bed and slipped in with the sleeping girl. Carefully, Taeyeon pulled Jessica against her and the other girl curled into the warm body. Taeyeon didn’t care that she was about to face hell when Jessica woke up because this moment was too precious to her. Having Jessica in her arms for even a moment is much more than she can ask for. Even better than the two medals she won the past few days.

Jessica didn’t know when she dozed off in her bed but she didn’t expect a warm body to be holding her own so she shot up and saw a slumbering Taeyeon. She had no idea when Taeyeon came into her bed or why the girl thought it was a good idea to do whatever she was doing in her bed, but Jessica gave a firm kick and pushed Taeyeon on the floor successfully waking up the other girl, “what the hell?!”

Jessica stayed on the bed crossed her arms, “I should be asking that. Why are you here in my room and in my bed?”

Taeyeon got up off the floor, “I was sleeping.”

“I saw that but why my bed? You have your own room.”

“It was more comfortable having you in my arms.”

Jessica’s face blushed at Taeyeon’s sweet talk, “I-I didn’t give you permission.”

“Jessica stop with the act. You clearly like me.”

“Do not.”

“Yeah you do.”

“No way in hell.”

Taeyeon was forceful as she pushed Jessica back onto the bed and attacked her lips forcefully. She and caressed those luscious lips until Jessica softened under her touch. Taking control, Taeyeon pressed into Jessica’s body even more as she took command with the kiss and Jessica put her arms around the girl. Taeyeon knew Jessica wanted this but the girl was so stubborn but the way that she clawed at her back, Taeyeon was certain Jessica did like her back and wanted more.

Jessica flipped them over and hovered over Taeyeon, “why do you have to be this persistent?”

“Because I know what you want Jessica.”

Jessica leaned down and kissed those lips she wanted to taste for years now. Taeyeon disappeared from her life suddenly when the girl was scouted at the ski hill years ago. Jessica was angry at Taeyeon for abandoning her for something stupid like snowboarding, but then she did the same. Her skating was just for fun but as she advanced in class, she was spotted by her current coach who groomed her to be an Olympic skater. She wanted to continue to do skating for fun but as she spent more time perfecting spins and rotations, Jessica just listened to her coach and did what he wanted. He even insisted that she should do ice dance with a partner although she knew nothing about the man and never saw him skate before.

When Taeyeon came back into her life and Jessica saw how successful Taeyeon became with her snowboarding, she hated her even more. She hated how her passion was successful, meaning she would never move closer to her. Taeyeon had to stay near her training grounds. Yet Taeyeon convinced her to come to her room and they kissed for the first time. High on alcohol Jessica knew she was letting Taeyeon take control and they naturally went further but when she woke up she realized Taeyeon stopped before they went too far. She watched Taeyeon sleep for a long time until she got redressed. She didn’t want to leave Taeyeon that day but at the same time if she didn’t leave now, Jessica would have never left even though she knew she needed to go back to Tokyo for training. That day she chose her ice skating over Taeyeon and vowed to forget the other girl that captured her heart. That feat was hard to accomplish when Taeyeon found her at the Olympic facility. Jessica tried to remain strong and push Taeyeon away but every taste of the other girl’s lips made her lose all her inhibitions.

Even now, Jessica knew she shouldn’t be kissing Taeyeon and she shouldn’t be on the verge of taking the other woman’s shirt off but it was too late. Her heart was leading once again saying ‘to take Taeyeon because she loved her. She had waited for this for so many years. Just take was is being offered to you.’

Before Jessica could successfully take Taeyeon’s shirt off, the lock on the door started to come undone. Leaping off Taeyeon, Jessica stood next to the bed wondering what to do as the roommate entered. Jessica thought her roommate was bossy and very strict so the idea of Taeyeon being in there will probably be a big problem.

“Jessica you have company?”

Jessica looked at Taeyeon who was sitting nonchalantly on her bed, “ah yea. This is Taeyeon.”

“We met before. I see you finally found her.”

Taeyeon smiled bashfully, “Yea.”

Walking in the roommate took a seat on the bed, “I am taking a nap so be quiet.”

Jessica watched as her roommate put on the eye mask and fell asleep so she signaled they both leave the room. Slipping on their shoes, Taeyeon and Jessica left the room. Walking down the hall neither knew what to say to one another but Taeyeon was brave enough to suggest they get something to eat.

Jessica and Taeyeon went to the cafeteria for a late lunch, “your umm roommate doesn’t like people it seems.”

Jessica shrugged as she poked at her salad, “she is just very serious about her schedule. She has a crazy meditation and yoga routine in the morning then she goes to get breakfast before the training grounds open. I am normally gone but I come back to her taking naps or meditation again.”

Taeyeon nodded along, “Are all skaters prunes?”

Jessica wrinkled her nose and glared at Taeyeon, “what are you saying?”

“I am saying you all have a stick up your . Do you remember how to have fun with your sport? I mean going out there and doing your best gives you satisfaction for like 5 minutes but after that are you finding the same enjoyment?”

Jessica stopped eating and sighed, “what would you know? Not all of us are naturally gifted at our sport and there are so many others that want our spot.”

Taeyeon nodded, “You should quit.”

“What?”

“Jessica if you don’t love what you are doing then why do it? Just quit and go to school or something like that.”

“I have been doing this for 10 some years why would I throw away everything I worked to do?”

“People change careers all the time. What is the big deal?”

Jessica looked at Taeyeon in disbelief, “so you would give up snowboarding if it bored you?”

“Sure. I always pictured after I break too many bones in my body that I would get a career in sports medicine or an instructor.” Taeyeon placed her hand under her chin, “Do you have a backup plan if you get hurt?  Thought about other passions?”

Jessica shook her head, “Never. This is all I know.”

Taeyeon frowned, “I see.” The girl knew better than give Jessica a lecture about her future but Taeyeon could see that Jessica was a bit naïve.

“So about this afternoon.”

Taeyeon’s face flushed red, “ah yea?”

“I umm may have feelings for you…” Jessica looked down.

Taeyeon started grinning like an idiot.

“It will never work though.”

“What? Why not?”

“You live like far north and I travel abroad a lot.”

“So?”

Jessica furrowed her brows looking at Taeyeon, “we won’t see each other.”

“And?”

“Taeyeon.” Jessica said firmly.

Taeyeon got up from her seat, “like I said, you skaters are too serious. See you around ice princess.”

Jessica threw her head around to see Taeyeon walking away, “Ice princess?”

-----------------------------

Having nothing to do, Taeyeon followed Jessica around like a little puppy. Although most days Jessica was going for practice, Taeyeon would be there watching or getting drinks or snacks. Jessica could tell that Taeyeon was caring but she didn’t want her heart to get crushed when the Olympics ended and they went back to their respective cities.

In fact, seeing Taeyeon so often now was heartbreaking. Jessica knew Taeyeon being ripped from her life once was hard enough and she didn’t want to endure it a second time. Maybe it would be better if they didn’t meet at all.

At the weeks end, Jessica was getting dressed for her competition. She zipped up and looked at herself in the mirror several times over to make sure her costume set perfectly. There was this tinge of brightness she noticed around her face like the past weeks rejuvenated herself. Maybe Taeyeon was there to help her feel happy again. Jessica didn’t know but she was hoping to see Taeyeon in the stands this evening.

Going out into the rink, Jessica saw her partner waiting for her, “what took so long?”

“Ah the makeup artist was a bit late.”

The man stood tall as he looked down upon her, “The other teams are out there practicing. We should too.”

Jessica nodded along as she looked up into the stands. There were people coming in still since the competition hadn’t started yet but Jessica was disappointed not to see Taeyeon in the stands. Maybe the girl was running late.

Taking off her skate guards, Jessica glided onto the ice with her partner. He was gentle as he took her hand and they went over different parts of their routine. It was the qualification round that they were preparing for so Jessica felt safe doing most of the rotations and flips. It was important that she and her partner were in sync for each move so they practiced their landings and skate position the most.

“Skaters please get ready for competition.”

Jessica looked over to the man ushering them off the ice and then looked up into the stands one more time for Taeyeon. She still wasn’t there.

Since they were 5th to perform, Jessica took her seat next to her partner pulling over her coat to stay warm. They watched as partners after partners took the ice and did their best. She was slightly happy when a few teams tumbled and lost points making it easier for their team to make it to the finals. However her mind still wandered to thought of what Taeyeon could have been doing this very moment when Taeyeon made it to all her other practices. Sitting comfortably in her seat, Jessica was trying to watch the other competitors but then she suddenly saw a giant bear walk through the doors into the arena. She couldn’t even see who would be carrying such a huge bear in as the animal was bigger than the human carrying it. Such a humorous scene made Jessica laugh, that was until the individual sat down next to the bear did Jessica see Taeyeon’s charming face. That dork.

“Representing Korea Jung Jessica and Kim Joohyun.”

Jessica hopped to her feet and went over to take off her skate guards to enter the arena with her partner. Focused on her routine, Jessica pulled out one of her best performances. The crowd was on fire cheering for their home team which made Jessica even more energized even when her legs grew weak near the end of the routine.  Although she had two stumbles, she was sure the score was good enough to get them into the medal round.

Waiting anxiously, Jessica played with the hem of her dress as she looked up at the scoreboard. It took a while but finally the scores popped up and Jessica gave out a smile of relief. That score must be enough to get them through the next round. With one huge weight off her shoulders, Jessica waved to the crowd and to Taeyeon with her giant bear. It would be later that night that Jessica will do their final routine so she went back to the locker room to change into comfortable clothing. Just as she was about to finish and find Taeyeon, a soft knock came on the door.

Jessica put down her bag and opened the door to see the same giant bear that was in the stands greeting here, “Hi!”

Jessica chuckled as Taeyeon popped her head out from behind the bear, “how did you get in here?”

“A lot of workers here know me.”

Jessica shook her head, “famous now that you won some medals?”

“You could say that.”

Jessica ushered Taeyeon in, “Is that bear for me?”

Taeyeon sat down next to the bear, “No. He is here to keep me company while you are on the ice.”

Jessica rose her brows, “Oh? A replacement?”

Taeyeon got up and went over to peck Jessica on the lips, “Just for now.”

Jessica smiled as she her lips, “as long as it is temporary.”

“So what happened to that y dress you were wearing earlier. I was liking it.”

Jessica shoved Taeyeon, “get rid of that erted look off your face. I changed because those outfits itch. All those sequins are not the most comfortable.”

“I could have helped you out of it—” Jessica violently hit Taeyeon, “ah what was that for!”

“Stop it. We are still in the arena. Not alone.”

“Your face is all red.”

“I wonder why.” Jessica giggled as she laughed around with Taeyeon, “staying for the finals?”

“Of course.”

Jessica swallowed a lump in , “and after that?”

Taeyeon saw the frown on Jessica’s face, “ah you mean after the Olympics finish?”

“Something like that.”

“You know snowboarding is a winter sport right?”

Jessica nodded.

“With all this fame I have now I might need to get an apartment in Seoul for all these CF deals coming my way. You know take a break this summer.+”

Jessica laughed, “not if I steal the Gold today. All those CF deals will go to me.”

“I should just move in with you then so we can go to CF shoots together and save time.”

Jessica turned an even darker shade of red thinking of living together with Taeyeon, “w-who says I want you to move in?”

“Are you really going to let me and bear live on the streets?” Taeyeon gave the other girl the cutest pout causing Jessica to turn away.

“I have to go practice.” Jessica got up and stormed out of the room causing Taeyeon to run after her.

Later that night Jessica went out and won bronze. She was very surprised to see a giant teddy bear thrown out onto the ice wondering how Taeyeon managed to throw that stuffed animal so far. Jessica took that bear and sat with it wondering if Taeyeon’s luck would rub off on her with the bear and it did. The Korean team were the underdogs in getting a medal for ice dance but Jessica and her partner managed bronze. She never dared to tell Taeyeon that she contributed her win to the lucky bear but she allowed bear and Taeyeon to follow her back to Seoul.

“Yah yah Jessica it is on!”

Jessica turned over to look at the TV, “Ah so you are famous.”

Taeyeon smiled proudly at her first CF appearing on TV, “they said I was a natural.”

Jessica put her arm around Taeyeon to give her a kiss on the cheek, “they were just being nice for your first time.”

Taeyeon pouted again, “just because you have more than me doesn’t make you a know it all. They should have picked me more for my skills but they happened to pick you for your looks.”

Jessica flipped her hair to the side, “I remember someone saying I looked y in that small dress. I am sure the advertisers thought the same thing and I get money for it.”

“I wonder if they will let you wear longer dresses.”

Jessica laughed, “I wouldn’t like that. Hard to move.”

“How about a body suit like me?”

Jessica turned Taeyeon’s head away from the TV, “Just think that they get to see me in a small dress but you are the only person to see me with no dress.”

Taeyeon’s mind went haywire with dirty thoughts, “ah yea…”

Jessica giggled as she captured Taeyeon’s lips, “I think I know where I want to spend my future after skating.”

Taeyeon pecked those lips one more time, “where?”

“Somewhere close to you.”

Taeyeon smiled as she gave an eskimo kiss, “It will be somewhere cold and with snow.”

“Where else would an ice princess live?”

Chapter 7: Damn, well like many others, I'm sure we all have our opinions on cheating... I don't think I would be the type of person to forgive such an act, but then again, context matters. I'm sure Taeyeon feels very strongly about love, which is why she's forgiving. Jessica's line "i can hurt her and not feel bad about it" hits hard, though. I think maybe they need to try out polyamory or swinging lol.
